Chapter 8
"So then I told Madam Baguette that I don't like her class and she gave me detention!" Ali wailed as we waited for Mary Sol to finish getting out her books in her locker. Turns out the girl we call Mary Sol brings more than one book to a lesson. She had a normal notepad. Exercise book and a Dictionary and an extra book for notes. We were also waiting for Natalie to finish doing her make up in the toilets.
"Then I asked her to go to the nurse because I thought my brain was bruised and she gave me double detention!" Ali continues, fiddling with her long blonde hair.
Since the party, Cameron hasn't been in school much. And David literally turns the other direction when he sees me in the hallway. But I mean I don't blame him, I would literally shit my pants if Spooky yelled at me. Also, I was surprised able how Teeshay stuck up for me. I never really imagined he had a side like that. But I don't bring it up because I just feel awkward thinking about it. I also need to return his jacket at one point. But it's really cozy so he can get it later.
"What lesson do you have next Mel?" Mary Sol asks as she closes her locker choosing to ignore Ali's wailing. I snap back into reality.
"Um." I looked at my timetable. "Urg Biology."
"Biology is fun." She says. We start walking super slowly to waste time. The less time spent in class the better my health is.
"Yeah fun for people who understand it." Ali groans. Science to me is the worst subject ever. It's boring. Too hard and Teeshay is my lab partner so he always annoying the hell out of me.
"Where is that girl we call Natalie?" Mary Sol huffs.
"Bitches!" Natalie sings as she finally walks out of the toilet. "We sooo have to go to the football match tomorrow!" Natalie was a cheerleader which is why she has to go to every match. But she never left us to hang out with the other cheerleaders, which is nice.
"Um, Natalie have you met us? Since when do we ever go to a football match?" Mary sols look at her up and down. I nod in agreement.
"Oh come you lazy lumps! Do you know how important this first match is?" Mary Sol and I look at each other.
"See no you don't. Let me tell you. Teeshay will be playing for our school for the first time. And according to a few sources, the coach has had an eye on him for time and he might put him in a more important position on the field." She explains as if it's straight forward.
"That's odd, did he not just join. It took Bruce a long time to get the coach to put him on the front line."
"Yes but this is Teeshay we are talking about." She reaches out for her mirror and checks her makeup.
"Ok but even so why should we care and go to the match," I ask. I didn't care at all about sport, I don't know a thing about it. I do know a few things because of dad, Audrey and the twins always yelling stuff at the Tv but that's about it.
"Because," Natalie sighs impatiently snapping her mirror shut. "There will be so much drama at the after-party. Couch will praise Teeshay so much that it will agitate the other players who work their asses off, and Cameron will literally explode. And I'm all in to see a fight." What a shit-stirrer.
Mary sol and I exchange looks and She sighs. "So what you are saying is that you want us to go the game to see a fight happen."
"Yes! You really are the smart one."
Mary Sol and I roll our eyes at the same time. No way am I going to waste my time just to see a match.
"Oh come on. I so want to see a fight. We might even get a front view." Ali jumps excitedly. We reach my classroom and I turn around to Nat and Ali who were already making plans about who will film which angle.
"Come on you haven't been to a football match since..." Natalie cuts her sentence quickly. They all look up at me.
"It's fine. And no, I am so not going. So off to class weirdos." I wave back at them.
"At least think about it!" Natalie calls behind me.
I sneak into class whilst Miss Boris was yelling at Timothy as per usual and sit at my seat next to Teeshay. Teeshay was slouched on his chair his long legs stretched out, eyes glued on his phone. He is pretty cute the way he scrunches up his face a little and the way his brow frowns as he concentrates. I take out my books and he finally takes notice of my presence.
"Hey, baby doll." He smiles.
"Hello, Teeshay." I sigh. Here we go again.
"So do you have a pen I could borrow." He gives me his best puppy dog face. "Please." He recognizes my usual facial expression and grabs my book.
"Come on Teeshay give my exercise book back," I whine.
"Nope. Not until you provide me with a pen." He holds it far up. Damn his long self.
"Teeshay." I hiss quietly so Miss Boris doesn't hear me. "If you do not give me back my book I will break your arm."
His smile is filled with amusement. "Oh, really and how are you going to break my arms baby doll?"
I reach out for my compass and he jerks back. I try moving forward again but he dodges.
"Are you trying to stab me with a compass?" He grins. Giving up, I waited for Miss Boris to leave the classroom because Timothy stormed out and jumped up to grab my book. Teeshay still moves back and loses his balance and we both fall backward end up on the floor.
I seemed to have been on top of him my legs spread across his torso. I look up our faces close and I end up staring at him waiting for him to move. His brown eyes clouded with an unrecognizable emotion both unable to speak. He followed me instead, not moving and we stayed there a good few seconds. I watched his jaw flex as he watched my face as if he was trying to calculate my next move. My lips felt as if it was on fire and my eyes slowly layed onto his lips. Our eyes lock, our breath in sync. He pushes his head up slowly bringing himself closer to me placing his hand on the small part of back to steady me. a smile crawls on his lips slowly.
"So you gonna give me a pen or not?" His voice was low and husky. I groan. I shot up quickly a little embarrassed which only seemed to amuse him even more.
"My book."
"The pen." I punched him and he yelled. I quickly covered his mouth with my hand to not attract attention since I was still technically on top of him. "That hurt." he wails through my hand. I giggle. Guess my karate lessons did come in great handy after all.
"Good for you." He licks my hand and this time I yell and quickly remove my hand. "You are literally so disgusting. Fine, I'll give you my pen. but you have to give me my book and hand sanitizer." He spreads his arms out to balance himself and laughed.
"Ok but you seem very comfortable sitting on me so how about later."
I realized I was still on him and moved off starting to feel my ears burning up again. "Whatever," I mumbled.
We sit back onto our stools and exchange items. Pretty proud of himself he gives me a satified smile. I groan annoyed. "Hey, you going to see your crush at the games tonight." He raises a brow.
I looked at him alarmed and start to panic. What does this asshole mean by crush. Does he know that I like Cameron? Am I that obvious? "Wha... What are you talking about? I don't have a crush." I laugh nervously avoiding eye contact.
"You are clearly lying. Such a bad actress." He tuts. I'm about to have a panic attack.
"No seriously I don't have a crush!" I say defensively.
"I know you like me it's ok I won't tell anyone." He shrugs. I stare at him relieved. And how dare he think I have a crush on him.
"Why would an educated young lady have a crush on an asshole like you?"
"Oh just come to the match. And why wouldn't you have a crush on me?"
"Because asshole, firstly you annoy the shit out of me and you would never catch me at a game," I say looking back at him. He leans onto the table.
"How about I change that never to a maybe?" Teeshay looks at me waiting for my response. He seemed serious an unreadable expression on his face.
I sighed. "I'm sorry Teeshay but I just don't like football."
"Fine. I'll tell your mother who is a big fan of mine that I'll pick you up at 6." Before I could protest the bell rang for the end of class and he walked out. Great guess I'm going to the game now.
