Chapter 30

Heyyy how y'all doing...🙃

Now I know I've been gone for a while and honestly I've been having trouble feeling the spark or excitement to upload and write a new chapter, it started feeling like a chore and it would be unfair to give a half effort chapter. Plus I didn't really know where the book was going and ended with writers block.

But idk why but I woke up this morning and got a notification of one of my favourite readers put this book in a list called "books forgotten about" and I read my whole book again and felt the spark again and spent the whole morning creating a storyline to add that makes sense. Instead of having a fixed day to upload I'll do whenever I can since I have exams.

So hope y'all not too mad because I'm so grateful to my readers who won't miss a single chapter and hope you enjoy the new and improved Never to a Maybe. xxx

I was walking down the dark road, no person in sight, although I kept walking. I reached a corner and there was an annoying street lamp that was constantly flickering. I sighed and reached in my bag for my phone. The date was strange my screen read May the 12th. Confused, I looked back alarmed at the date and then saw the digits read 9:32PM. It was the day of the bus crash.

I looked up and automatically recognized the area, it was the area that the crash happened.

Breath Mel.

The day when I changed. I felt goose bumps cover my entire body as the emerging painful memories resurfaced. It would be a matter of minutes before the bus would crash.

Shouts are heard from behind me and I turn around, to see two tall figures fighting near a car parked carelessly in the middle of the road, the passenger door left open hanging on its hinges. The tallest was on top of the other, throwing painful looking punches, getting faster. I start running towards the two, half unsure on what to do.

"Hey stop!" I yelled running but they continued, the one receiving the punches head drops, unconscious. They ignored my whole being as if I wasn't there.

I edge towards the now limb body to get a closer look at the scene but their backs were facing me making it difficult to identify the pair. I quickly check my phone and as soon as I do, the time changes.

9:35

My heart thumps in my chest as it rings in my ear. I slowly turn around to see the bus swerve trying to avoid crashing into the car that was left carelessly in front of it. Instead it turns sharply, hitting directly into a tree and tips over.

Everything happens too fast as I watch in disbelief.

My heart sinks as I watch the scene before my very own eyes. Tears start to spring and stream down my face as I sink to my knees. I couldn't stop sobbing or shaking, knowing I was in that bus. Unable to move. Unable to breath.

Nightmares haunt me.

They won't stop.

They just keep coming as if it was a nasty reminder ringing in my brain.

The doctors said I'll get better. The therapists said I'll soon live normally. I was lucky to have no real life changing damage. Really?

I just watched. Watched the driver stumble out of the bus, blood all over his head and drop. Watching the bus explode into flames, it was almost as if my body was on fire. My tears soon turned into bitter one's, frustration and anger. I couldn't bring myself to take my eye's away, no matter how much I was screaming at myself to stop.

"Mel..."I hear a voice. I want to get out. I need to get out. "Mel?" They repeat again.

***

"For God's sake you sleep like a flipping new born."

This time, I hear that familiar deep and husky voice. As I struggle to adjust to the light, I feel someone's minty breath fan over me. I recognise that smell and voice...

"Teeshay!" I sit up abruptly, causing Teeshay to jump slightly in alarm. He leans back in his seated position as I look at him weirdly.

"The one and only." He winks his smirk reappearing. "Did you miss me?"

I scoff swat him off my bed but he doesn't move an inch. "How long have you been watching me?"

"You wouldn't wake the fuck up! Are you that much of a deep sleeper?" He adds pressure on his arms as he leans back further and looks me over. "A damn cute deep sleeper though."

I ignore the flutter in my chest and rub my eyes, a hand over my thumping heart and sigh in relief that was back in the safety of my room. Wait why is he here?

"Why are you in my room?" I yawn, stretching my arms.

"Your mom wanted to gossip with my mom so I came along. Your mom also told me to wake you up, its midday. " He explains, still looking at me. I felt suddenly self conscious and grasp the edge of my cover, bringing it to my face. I only earn a grin from him.

"Come on, it's the weekend." I groan, reaching to scratch my braided hair and realise I'm not looking the nicest plus I had my bonnet on. I bring my arms down and Teeshay's smirk grows by the minute as if he was reading my thoughts. I look down.

Teeshay large palms appear on my face and pulls me to look at him. I give him a puzzled look. "What? Do I have drool on my face?" I feel my face in alarm.

"Why were you crying?" He says, this time softly, edging closer towards me, his soft brown eyes bores into mine.

It was weird him being in my room after what happened last time. I quickly shake my head, to get his hands off and wipe my tears. This is super embarrassing!

"Mel did you have nightmare or something?"

"No, I yawned." I look back down at my sheets, feeling sudden awkwardness. I feel him hesitates before getting up from bed. I don't really want to be talking about my nightmares so I was thankful as he made his way to my door.

"Breakfast downstairs so hurry." He says. Teeshay looked at me with an unrecognizable expression, which was scaring me as he was acting the last, minute didn't happen.

After Teeshay turns and closes the door softly behind him. I felt bad for rudely shutting him down so I quickly got dressed into an oversized t-shirt and grey jogging bottoms. Cameron and I have a quick text, just the usual about what I'm doing. For someone who is supposed to be my boyfriend and girlfriend we don't speak much. It was becoming tiring and frustrating.

I even at 3am last night was googling of this is normal for couples.

"Morning!" I smile cheerfully at mom and Mrs Rivers sitting on the kitchen island.

"Good morning dear!" Mrs Rivers's smiles back at me. Mom gets up, a mug in her hand and as she passes to put it in the sink. I turn to get some cereal and find a scolding woman I call mother glaring at me.

"You lazy girl! How long does it take you to get up? We even had to disturb poor Teeshay to wake you up." She hits me, making me groan in pain.

"Mom! It's the weekend!" I frown, rubbing my arm.

"Leave the girl, if she wants to sleep let her sleep." Mrs Rivers pulls me into hug and I stick my tongue at my mom.

"So how come when I sleep in, you yell at me!" Teeshay raises his voice as he strolls into the kitchen to sit at table.

"Not everything is about you!" Mrs Rivers I and say in unison. He puts up his hand in defeat.

"Anyways, your mom and I are going to spend a day at the spa, we're leaving soon, so no trouble. Greg won't be back till late so you guys have fun!" They both take their bags. Well thats not fair I wanted to go do my nails I complain in my head, as the two ladies rush out excitedly of the door.

I finish making my cereal and go into the living room and much on my cereal whilst Audrey and Teeshay play some stupid video games.

"Go left, you could catch them from the back." I say pointing in the direction. Teeshay shoots me an odd look.

"You play this game?" I shrug. They both follow my instructions and end up successfully beating the opponent. The two cheer loudly, nearly knocking my bowl over.

"Your welcome!" I chimes in, beaming proudly. "I want to play next!" I placing the bowl aside I play a few games with the two, although Audrey gives up half way and goes out instead.

"Ok that's enough, we've been playing for hours. Let's watch a movie." I suggest so after getting us both snacks Teeshay leans back to turn off the light. I flick through movies and turn to Teeshay. "I'm going to gain so much weight if I keep on hanging out with you." He half chuckles.

"We can be unhealthy and lazy together. " I grin back. "Ok what do you want to watch?"

"Why don't we watch that movie we never got to finish in my room?" I feel my ears suddenly heat up. I continue flick through ignoring his comment, but feeling his constant stare which made me even more nervous.

"A Disney film?" I say a little too quietly. This only made Teeshay burst out laughing at my face.

"No, the movie we never finished." He repeats. I ignore his stares and flick onto toy story as he groans in annoyance but doesn't say anything.

As I put on the start of the film, He reaches for the blanket and puts it over both of our legs. I felt suddenly even more flushed, being close to him. Our legs was only touching slightly, yet I was becoming a breathless mess. We watch the first part of the movie, without any trouble but I felt us getting closer.

Chill Melody.

I kept my cool though. Then at one point, my favorite scene played making me laugh and I turn to Teeshay who was staring at me. "What's wrong?" I say after suddenly stop laughing. Without looking away, he takes the remote control pressing pause. "Teeshay-"

"Why Mel?" He says quietly, his voice deeper. The light from the tv reflected on his face, his stare so intense it was as if his brown orbs soaking into my soul.

"Why what?" I replied, taken aback with his sudden change of mood.

"Don't act as if every time we are together you don't feel something, cause I know you do. Every time you smile, I want to kiss those lips of yours..." He mummered. His jaw clenched as he resisted to touch me. I feel my ears heat up, confused. "But I can't because you decided to go out with Diaz." He grumbled, finally looking away from me, staring at the paused movie.

"Teeshay why are you suddenly saying this?" I whispered in the silence. He looks back at me, moving forward, a hand resting behind me. I shiver as he brings his face towards mine.

"I want to caress those lips of yours with mine. I want to touch you. Hug you. Cuddle you when we watch movies. We can't just be friends Mel. You know that." He says straight forwardly making me gulp slightly. "I can't just pretend that I'm resisting touching you." He groans in frustration, passing a hand over his durag.

"I-" I begin, but the words got lost.

"Do just friends know how each other tastes?" His light brown eyes bore into mine, both mixed with negative and positive emotions.

I didn't know how to respond, a part of me agreed with him, even though I desperately didn't want to. My phone rang behind me and we break our eye contact.

Saved by the phone. I reach out to take my phone and Teeshay sits back.

"Hello Ali?" I breathed into the phone. Teeshay gets up, taking the bowl from and disappearing into the kitchen.

"Did you go jogging? Why do you sound out of breath?" Alice asks on the other end.

"Nothing, just ran up the stairs. Anyways what up?" I quickly lie. I was not about to get interrogated from something that I don't even understand what happened.

"Whats up is that we have work in an hour, but due to my amazing skills, I guessed you forgot." I suddenly remembered today was our first day. I whip off the covers from my body.

"I totally forgot! OK I'll meet you there! Bye!" I yell before sprinting up the stairs and throw on some reasonable clothes. As I get downstairs, putting on my shoes I walked into the kitchen and Teeshay was gone.

I frowned to myself. We didn't get to finish talking and I hate it that every time we end off on bad terms. I sigh to myself, I'll chat to him by the window sill later and walk out to the mall.

***

Work, was alright, Alice was much more excited than I was. It was cool, scooping up the different flavors, and that moody boy that we met when we came for job interview was in charge of teaching us, but I got the impression that he was annoyed by us as we were pretty excited.

What its our first time working?

After work we walked around a bit before going home. Lucky for me Ali dropped me and I didn't realise how tired I was until my back hit my bed. I stared aimlessly at my bedroom window, expecting a rock to hit the window but nothing. I sit up and walk over to the window. I threw a few stones I picked up on the way home, but nothing in response. Was he angry with me?

Is he angry that I'm going out with Cameron? I know they hate each other? We have had our moments but I was always unsure at where we both were with each other at times.

"This is so frustrating!" I screamed into my pillow in frustration.

"Bitch can you be more quiet thank you!" Kiara yells from her side. I pop my head and glare at her before settling in my bed. He might text me tommorow.
