Chapter 3
I was staring at a white ceiling. I couldn't feel my legs or arms. It was as if I was strapped to my bed. I wanted to scream but nothing came out.
Oh no not here again.
I tried tugging at whatever was keeping me down but it was no use. I lift my head, to see where I was. I was in the hospital. The same hospital room. A woman dressed in a nurse outfit comes into my room. She took no notice of me, instead, she took the remote control from my bedside table and put on the TV.
"Enjoy." She smiles and looks over at the TV. My eyes follow the direction she was looking at and on the TV there was fire. People were running. And screaming. Lots of screaming.
"Make it stop! Stop!" I scream but it only comes out as a squeak. The screaming seemed to be getting louder. A pain suddenly strikes in my head causing me to groan. But I couldn't get up to touch my head, making the pain even more unbearable. Tears stream down my face as I screamed, trying to move, trying to speak, trying to understand. I look at the nurse but she only looked back at me smiling.
I felt something cold touch my skin making me shiver. I looked at the nurse in horror as she reached to the floor to pick up a bucket. Tipping it over a thick red substance was pouring out. She was pouring blood over my body!
"Stop please." I sob, trying to get free but she continues still smiling down at me, the blood never seemed to stop.
"Enjoy." She says finally putting the bucket down. My eyes slowly shut close and I watch her smile down at me.
...
My eyes snap open. The room was dark. I was back in my bedroom. I was panting heavily as if I ran around the whole country, sweating. I shoot up quickly and touch my face full of tears.
I crawl out of my bed, trembling. Trying not to wake up Kiara and went into the bathroom. I turn on the light and reached quickly for the cabinet taking out my pills.
I swallow it dry and stare at myself in the mirror. I had another nightmare. I haven't had one in time, so I don't know why I just had one. What must have triggered this? I thought it was over. I thought the pain was gone. Why is this happening again?
I sink to the floor, sobbing quietly. My tears flowed down my face as I rested my head in my hands.
I stayed on the bathroom floor not daring to go back to sleep. I memorized the pattern of the tiles wall instead not knowing how long I stayed there. Probably hours since I heard birds chirping outside.
I creep back into my bed and rest my head on my pillow and finally fall back to sleep peacefully.
...
Natalie picked me up the following morning with Ali sitting in the backseat.
"Good morning!" I say cheerily.
"What took you so long?" Natalie asks.
"Oh, just my mom was being extra and stuff." I lied.
"Anyways!" Ali sings as I dump into the front, "Girl spill, how hot is he on a scale of one to ten?"
"Also how dare you leave us hanging. When you told us on the group chat you didn't bother to fill in the details." Natalie pouts.
"I'm sorry. I just fell asleep and as for the hotness, a definite ten."
They both squeal in excitement.
"Omg! I wish I had a hot neighbor like that. But seriously you are sups lucky that the new hot boy lives next door to you!" Ali gushes.
"I know right. But ladies I have some scoop for you. Alexis and Cameron apparently broke up during the summer." Natalie squeals.
"Really?" I ask. Alexis and Cameron are the two most popular people in our school. And yes this is my crush, Cameron. Cameron is a really sweet and kind guy, his ex on the other hand not too much. Actually let me rephrase that, not at all nice. She always seemed to have a problem with me ever since freshmen year.
"Great now she is going to be bitcher than ever."
Ali rolls her eyes. "You know those two they are a crazy on and off couple so they will probably hook up at this weekends back to school party." Ali was right though they were always on and off.
"I honestly think you should talk with Cameron at the party, get to know him since you had on crush on him since forever!" Natalie suggests.
"Who the hell said I'm going to that party?"
"Oh come on, let's go to the party. You didn't go last year! What do you have to do at home?" Ali whines.
"And don't even say that you have to study because we know damn well you don't," Natalie warns.
I pretend to think about it. "No."
They both sigh loudly.
"We will drag you there anyway. By fire by force." Natalie says determined.
I groan and sit back. We spend the rest of the car ride ranting about how it's the second day of school and we are already bored and get tonnes of homework and also make a stop at Starbucks.
We arrive at the school car park and Cameron and his friends were pretty much dominating the entrance of the school.
"Urg why they standing there? Excuse me." Natalie says making her way through grabbing Ali and me with her.
"Hey, Melody!" I spin my head around and see the man himself Cameron jogging after us.
Natalie let's go of me and pats my back. "We'll wait for you at your locker. Don't embarrass yourself."
I pull her a quick face and turn around. "Hey, Cameron. How are you." I smile confused to why he would talk to a useless human being such as I.
"Fine thanks. How was your summer?"
"It was good." We stood there awkwardly.
Say something dumbass.
"So I was wondering if you have those maths notes from last year that I gave to you. I really need them." Cameron speaks up. I remember when I was supposed to ask Cameron to hang out and panicked so notes came into my mind.
"Yeah sure, I have the notes with me." I scoop into my bag disappointed that was the only reason he wanted to talk with me. I hand it to him.
"Thanks a lot, Melody." He smiles at me his beautiful blue eyes shining as the sun reflected on his eyes. My insides will turn into literal mush if I don't get out of here. "Are you going to my party this weekend? I'll love it if you will come."
"I'm sorry what?" I snap out of looking deeply at his eyes.
"My party? This Saturday? I was asking if you were going?"
"Oh right, of course." I blurt out without thinking. Damn it now I have to go.
"That's great. See you around then." He smiles at me one more time pushing his blonde hair back. His eyes quickly look past me and he then he goes off.
Omg! Cameron and I actually talked. We do talk from time to time since he is in nearly all my classes but only for a pencil and group work. I walk towards my friends who were grinning at me.
"So you did well today. Need some improvement on the conversation side though." Tokyo states matter of factly.
"Whatever." I hit him on the arm.
"So, guys I was thinking that tomorrow that we hang out at my place." Mary Sol suggests.
We chat excitedly until I realize that the hall went suspiciously silent. We all stop talking and follow the direction where everyone was looking at.
"As long your annoying twin brother is not there." Natalie rolls her eyes.
"He'll probably be at that party."
Mary Sol's twin brother Bruce Lin was the most annoying and horny boy ever. He was hilarious though at times, especially when he and Mary Sol had fights and he would annoy Natalie.
"Oh, my sweet potatoes." Tokyo gasps.
Teeshay walks into school, everyone was looking at him and whispering. He walks past without a care in the world about the attention that was on him, with his sunglasses on.
"Why is everyone staring at him?" I turn back to my friends.
"What do you mean why is everyone staring at him? Mel do you not know who that guy is?" Tokyo hisses.
As Teeshay walks past us he takes off his sunglasses to wink at me. His gaze stays on me for a few seconds. My friends looked at me with their mouths wide open.
"Asshole," I mutter, causing them to gape at me even more.
"How do you know him?" Natalie asks confused.
"He's my new neighbor."
"Wait Teeshay Rivers is the boy you were talking about? Oh my goodness do you not recognize him? He is from Downton River high school." Ali explains.
"Wait he is Teeshay the Downton quarterback football star?!" I stare back at Teeshay in surprise. How did I not recognize him but yet again I only been to one game? He was our school's enemy. Well, the football team's anyways.
"Yes." Tokyo nods at Teeshay who was stopped by Cameron who is our school's football champion.
Downton and our school have been apparently enemies for years all because of stupid football. The boys especially were always bad-mouthing their school but since I haven't got a slight interest in sports I have been to only one game so I never really knew how Teeshay looked like. But what was he doing here?
Cameron blocks Teeshay's way who was going into the office. Everyone starts surrounding them so we follow to get a better view of the showdown. The two stood still glaring at each other.
"Teeshay Rivers." Cameron finally says coldly.
"Cameron Diaz," Teeshay says equally coldly.
"What the hell Downton's golden boy doing here?"
"Lucky for you I'm at this school now. So at least this school's football team will be half decent with me here now." He responds confidently.
"What did you say?" Cameron steps forward.
"Bad at playing and now hearing?" Teeshay steps even closer.
"Can they kiss already?" Tokyo whispers to us since they were so close. I hush them so I can continue listening.
"What you think you can waltz in here and disrespect me. You thought wrong." Cameron spits shoves him back.
Teeshay shoves him back harder than he tumbles back. "Don't. Touch. Me."
The crowd went "oooooh!"
"It was my life purpose to see this," Ali says making us all laugh. We are not serious at all.
Cameron gets back up red in the face angry as hell. I have never seen him this angry and it is scary. Teeshay, on the other hand, does not look at all that bothered.
"Oh no, you look a bit little red there." He points at his face.
Cameron raised his fist but Bruce comes out from the crowd and holds Cameron back.
"Dude stop." Cameron moves away from Bruce to fix himself. "Look the guy just came, give him a break."
"Hey, Bruce you better tell your little friend to keep his hands to himself as well," Teeshay warns glaring at Cameron.
"How does he know you, Bruce?'" Cameron demands.
"I never really told you this but he is my childhood friend." Bruce picked up Teeshay's sunglasses.
"Thanks, bro." Teeshay first bumps him, gives one more challenging look at Cameron and disappears into the principles office.
Everyone still recovering from the argument goes to their next class since the bell rang and Cameron storms off after muttering something angrily at Bruce.
We all look at Mary Sol. "So that's why you know Teeshay Rivers because I was surprised that even you know him he looks like since Mel doesn't."
"He and Bruce have been best friends since. I guess he never wanted to tell Cameron because the two hate each other. Don't know why though."
"Well, that was saucy indeed but finally fresh meat!" Natalie squeals with excitement with Tokyo. "That body though." She gushes.
"I know right! That was a full course meal and he is Mel's new neighbor! Don't be surprised if I hang out at your house a lot." Tokyo drools.
The second bell rang we all said goodbyes and went off to our classes.
***
I wonder what's the whole deal with Teeshay and Cameron. Seems there is more than just football? 🤔
And Mel's nightmares defo gave me the creeps.😬😰
