Chapter 13

So who wants to come out with me?  I text on the new group chat Bruce created called "Bruce and Natalie's children."

I can't. I'm grounded. Dumbo (a.k.a Alice) texts. Unlucky Ali, her uncle is a cop and he told her parents that he nearly busted her ass in jail.

Going out with my family for a business dinner.  Daily annoyance (a.k.a Bruce) texts.

Great! No one is available when I'm in the mood to leave my house. I throw my phone across my bed, bored out of my life. Kiara comes in the room grabbing her bag.

"What's wrong with you?" She pauses to observe me.

"Bored." I groan.

"See if Teeshay is free but if you want to you can come with me. I'm hanging out with my friend. We going ice skating. " I wiggle my eyebrows.

"Just a friend. Frederick." She glances at me sternly. Sure watch when they disappear to the toilets together. I didn't like the idea of hanging out with my sister and boyfriend of the day but it was better than staying home.

"Fine me get dressed." I get up from my bed and pull on my favorite black leggings and red crop top hoodie. I slick my hair back into a ponytail since I straightened my hair yesterday and do my edges. I pull on my air forces and go down the stairs.

"Dad, Mel and I are going ice skating!" Kiara yells. Dad's head pops out if the kitchen with a screaming Sap in his arms.

"Just you two?" He asks. Kiara nods pulling me to her for a side hug.

"Yup good old sister bonding." I assured him. We both smile sweetly. He nods and we go out. We walk down the street where boyfriend of the day was waiting for us.

"Hey, Fred." Kiara slides into the passenger seat kissing him on the lips. Just friends huh. "This is my little sister Melody." I wave.

"Aw, Kiara she looks like a mini version of you." He laughs and we both cringe.

"Shut the fuck up and just drive." She hits him softly. Most of the drive was them shamelessly flirting with each other so I listened to my own music. When we arrived we go into the building. It was an outside ice skating rink and I used to spend a lot of time during Christmas here so I was a pretty good skater.

We wait in line for our skates. Roderick makes a few attempts to get to know me but I cringed and gave him short one-word answers. It wasn't that I was trying to be a rude but it's not like I'll ever see him again after today. Kiara is always with a new guy.

"Tell your boyfriend of the day to stop asking me questions." Kiara shoots me a warning look. I roll my eyes and spot Cameron coming over towards us. I begin to panic not knowing how to act or even stand.

"Hi Melody, what are you doing here?" I realized that he was always smiling. I started to wonder if some of them are fake.

"Came here with my sister and her boyfriend. Are you here with any one or?" I look behind him half expecting Alexis to pop out of nowhere like a Jack in a box.

"Came here with my older bro and his friends. Why don't we just skate together, it's not like I want to hang out with them." He suggests. I look over at Roderick and Kiara.

"Good idea because I am not planning to become a third wheeler anytime soon." I sigh in relief. He waits for me to get my skates and we make our way to the ice rink.

"Is this your first time?" He breaks the uncomfortable silence between us. I just didn't know what to say that's all.

"No, I'm a pro. Came skating all the time. And you?" We get on the ice and I start to skate and he follows me behind quickly.

"Same, hey watch this." He skates to the edge of the rink and does an impressive flip on his way. People look at him in amazement.

"Now I feel like an amateur." I sulk playfully when he comes back and he just laughs.

"Come, I'll show you how to do it." He takes my hand. My chest tightens at the gesture, his soft blue eyes stayed on me as he leads me to the middle.

"I can hardly do a normal front flip." I laugh nervously. Not about the front flip. I couldn't care less if my skull would crack open. The fact that I was really close to Cameron made my knees feel like jelly. I was always weirdly nervous around him.

"It's fine I'll show you."

He doesn't let's go of my hand and we skate until he flips and lands perfectly on the ice. I look at him as if he's crazy.

"Yeah, if you want to see my head split into two tonight I suggest we don't."

He laughs. "I like you, Melody, you're funny." I smile grandly at the compliment. To hell to all my haters who think over wise.

We spend a whole hour, mostly me gazing at him as he glides majestically along the ice showing me all his tricks. I try one of his tricks and end up sliding on my ass across the ice and we call it a night. This was the first time I have spent time properly with Cameron and I really enjoyed his company. I call Kiara to meet me after an hour and Cameron takes me to eat in a little restaurant just outside of the ocean rink and eat our food in silence watching people skate.

"I really enjoyed today. I was having a crappy day but you really made me smile. Thanks." Cameron says, glancing over as he looks intently at the menu.

"I like your smile anyways," I mutter.

"Huh?"

"Huh?" I repeat quickly. Damn it I said it too loud. "I said it was no problem."

"So tell me about yourself, since I don't really know you that much." He puts both of his hands in the table and sets his gaze on me. I suddenly felt nervous again. I hate and love it when he stares at me.

"Um... well... I don't really know what to say." I admit.

"How hobbies, favorite place in the world, do you have siblings that sort of stuff." He clarifies.

"Well, I guess I like to sleep as my hobby. Wait is that a hobby?"

"No, it's not. Hobbies are like gardening or gaming, stuff like that." He says a little too seriously.

"Oh, well then I don't know. Favorite place is this lake..." I trailed off realizing that I was talking about the spot Teeshay took me yesterday.

"Where?" We ordered our food. The little restaurant we came to where really fast with our orders since after a few minutes received it.

"It's, uh this place not too far from here and someone took me there and I really like it I guess. Oh and for siblings I unfortunately have 6 siblings. Middle child." I groan at that last part.

"That's a lot of siblings. Must be tiring." He chuckles finishing his garlic bread.

"You can't even start to imagine. And what about you?"

"Oh well, my hobby is reading. Weird huh? But I really love reading." He breathes in the air passionately.

"I prefer online books. Or are the traditional kind?"

"Definitely the traditional kind. I don't know why but I am obsessed with the smell of books." He shrugs leaning back into his chair as I lean on the table.

"As for favorite place. I haven't been there yet but I would love to visit London. Did I tell you that I also love history because London is soaked in history."

"Mhm." I nod. I get a little distracted saying into his deep blue eyes as it shone with anticipation. I guess he is more than just a pretty boy. He rambles on what felt like hours about history or something but I zone out staring at his face. It wasn't that the conversation was boring but he was speaking and not letting me talk, and I couldn't relate at all.

"You know Mel?" He asks. I sit up quickly.

"Wait what?" I ask.

"King Philip was the worst king ever. Right?" He raises an eyebrow How did we go from London to some king?

"Yes totally the worst king England has ever seen." I nod.

"King Philip was a French king."

"Oh." Well, I feel like shit.

Cameron laughs it off though at my relief waving for the bill. Way to ruin everything Melody. "You're funny Mel." He repeats what he said before.

The waiter comes with the bill and Cameron pulls out a few hundred dollars looking for the right amount. I never hung out with someone who even carries around a hundred let along a couple of hundreds.

"Oh no I'll pay," I assure him. I don't like owning people stuff. But he refuses.

"Let's pay half at least, please."

"No it's fine, why are you so persistent to pay? Keep your money I would." He jokes.

"It's fine. I'm still paying my half though." I say in a bit of a quiet voice.

We split the bill and say our goodbyes.

"We should hang out another time." He waves. I smile and walk away. I had a really nice time with Cameron and I didn't embarrass myself too much which is a surprise.

When we arrive back home I take a shower.  I give myself a tap on the back and decide for once to study. I set up my books at my desk that was directly facing the window and play some music so I'm not completely bored out of my mind.

Kiara was already fast asleep on the couch downstairs because she was watching TV and I'll wake her up when I finish studying. An hour passes and I got a few things in biology covered and decided to go on a break halfway through. I seemed to have forgotten since I was on break for twenty-five minutes.

A stone hits my window, making a shattering noise. I already knew who it was but I ignored it. Another one hit. And another. And five others. Getting fed up I swing open my window and glare at Teeshay who was about to hit the tenth one.

"Finally." He throws the stones down.

"What?" I snap.

"Why did you take forever to respond?" Teeshay asks leaning on the frame like he always did. I realized that he was shirtless and I couldn't help lowering my eyes.

"What do you want?" I repeat my question slowly. Did he forget our discussion a few days ago?

"Are you still mad?" I groan in annoyance.

"What do you expect." I fold my arms.

"Oh come on, you can't be serious-" I shut my window and gather my books having enough of him for one day even though we only spoke for a few seconds. He hits my window with stones a few times but gives up after he curses loudly and slams his window shut.
