*Mary's faith*
Merry Christmas everyone! The next few entries will be Christmas themed (I told you guys I had plans for Christmas ;) Each day, I will be "analyzing" a different person/people in the Christmas story, today we will start with Mary.
*****
Background:
Mary is the mother of Jesus, when she was betrothed to her husband Joseph, an angel appeared named Gabriel. He told Mary that she would give birth to God's son, Jesus, being conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Before the baby was born, Mary and Joseph needed to travel to Bethlehem (Joseph's birthplace) for taxing purposes, there, in a small stable, Jesus was born.
Mary would have one special journey ahead of her, being the mother of Jesus, great things were bound to happen.
Luke 1:26-38 & Luke 2:1-7 (The angel's appearance and Jesus' birth)

One thing I believe we can all learn from Mary is her faith.
After Gabriel spoke to her, Mary responded with such commitment to the angel's word. "I serve the Lord... May it happen to me just as you said it would." (Luke 1:38 NIRV)
Truthfully, I am not sure I would have been able to respond with such confidence. This woman was ready for God's plan, that is what I believe is the key to her faith. She realized that it was not about her, it's was about God and his plan. This is probably why she had this sense of joy, being part of God's plan for humanity. "...My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour..." (Luke 1:47-48)
Mary was willing to live life with control.*
Yup, this woman just "let it go", she really did let "Jesus take the wheel". (Lol :) But it's true! As I said before, Mary understood her place. Not like "put you in your place", in a bad way, but she realized that hey, this is God's plan, not mine.
These days it can be so hard to just "live". We always have to be doing something, go somewhere...blah, blah, blah. But...In our fierce determination to find control we lose faith.*
You see, faith and control do not mix, in fact faith is the opposite of control.*
Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is being certain of what we do not see. When we can't see something, we have no control over it...do you get the connection?
Thus, I want to remind you that God is in control, not you. So no more worrying, Jesus is right there, every step of the way.
