Epilogue.

"Leon is such a wuss!" I commented with a frustrated tone as I pace back and forth in front of the lift, waiting for him to emerge. "I want to be there to witness the boss fight, we've come this far!" I groaned in annoyance and ran my gloved fingers through my sweaty hair.

Ashley just sighed at my rant session. "You should know better, Tiff. He cares for your safety as well." She said and that made me stop and gawk at her. She put her hands up as a sign of surrender. "I'm just stating a mere fact, here."

I groaned once again and messaged the bridge of my nose. "Ugh, I think I'm tired," I mumbled to myself and closed my eyes.

"You've been ranting out by the time Leon left us, which was like thirty minutes ago?" Ashley reminded with a giggle. "Just sit down and watch Mr. Goody-two shoes secure the situation."

I pouted and let it pass by. After a few minutes of silence, I saw Ashley's head looking up as if she was watching something. I turned my head to see what she was looking at and my eyes narrowed in confusion when I saw Ada too focused on something to notice us looking at her.

"What is she trying to do?" I asked and I shifted my gaze towards Ashley who only shrugged at me in response.

I hate this. Being oblivious to the situation. Hell is probably breaking loose up there and here we are, just waiting and praying for a miracle to happen.

"LEON SCOTT KENNEDY!" I screamed at the top of my lungs and I saw Ashley's eyes widened in shock and confusion. "HURRY UP, YOU--"

My sentence was cut midway when I heard an explosion and that's when my heart started skipping a beat every once in a while.

"Oh, no..." Ashley mumbled to herself as she put a hand on her heart, her expression morphed into remorse and worry and I prevented the urge to mirror her expression as well.

"He can do it... He can... He's Leon." I chanted and pursed my lips into a fine line as a scenario came into my mind that the lift would not come down. I shook my head quickly at the horrendous thought and took a deep breath to scream at the top of my lungs. "KENNEDY! DON'T YOU DARE MAKE US WAIT FOR ANOTHER SEC--"

The lift suddenly came down and Leon rushed to us with an urgent expression. I stopped my sentence midway and was beyond happy when I saw his face. But confusion plastered on my face the moment he grabbed both of our wrists.

Then the statement that came out of his mouth made my world stop to spin.

"We have to get out of this island now, it's gonna blow in a minute."

The statement haven't fully registered in my brain as my eyes widened in confusion. He both dragged us into an opening then I heard Ashley exclaim something.

"IT'S GONNA WHAT?"

"W-Wait... it's gonna... blow?" I drawled and blinked.

"Yeah," Leon released his grip on us and we felt the ground shake. He started taking the lead and we just trailed right behind him. "Detonate, explode, pop, blow up--"

"THEN WHY THE HELL ARE WE STILL JOGGING, YOU CRAZY OLD MAN? I DON'T WANT THIS ISLAND TO BE MY GRAVE!" I exclaimed and ran at full speed but then instantly stopped when we came off a deep land and a ladder going down.

Leon snorted and jumped down then Ashley followed. I rolled my eyes and did the same and Leon caught me.

"Do you really think the three of us would fit in here?" I asked with mild suspicion as I pointed my index finger at the jet ski on the water. I shifted my gaze towards Leon who was fishing out a jet ski key with a cute teddy bear keychain from his pocket.

"We'll make it fit." Leon said firmly as he stepped on the comfy seats of the jet ski and I attempted to sit behind him when Ashley kindly pushed me aside just so she can sit and practically hug him from behind.

Oh gosh. I thought to myself.

"Or maybe I'll just swim to my escape." I said sarcastically and Leon just gave me an 'are you joking? Because it's not funny.' look.

"Just shut up and ride," Leon said sternly and I let out a short laugh as I sat behind Ashley and hugged her thin torso.

She's so thin, I'm jealous.

"My God, Leon, is that a song reference?" I grinned at him and he peered over his shoulder to see him staring at me blankly. I pouted and smiled. "Just shut up and drive-- Ah!" I squealed when he started accelerating the jet ski at full speed. I tightened my hold on Ashley and she grunted.

"Watch it!" Ashley whined and I chuckled and muttered an apology.

"Is this your final drive, Leon?" I yelled through the water streams and I heard the faint explosions of bombs above, making the rocks fall and I felt a shaking sensation.

Ashley peered over her shoulder then looked behind me and her expression became horrified. "Waves! Behind us!" She exclaimed.

"Hang on, ladies! Just hold on!" Leon reminded as he increased the acceleration of the jet ski and we were at full speed ahead.

I buried my face on Ashley's back and closed my eyes, feeding my ears with the sound of water streams and the waves trailing behind us. I refused to look behind me, it would just make me more mortified than I already was.

I flinched when I heard an explosion and something splashed on the water, damping my cargo pants and I shivered at how cold it was.

"Almost there!" Leon yelled and my breath hitched.

A few moments later, I just felt the jet ski stop and I opened my eyes only to see light and for a millisecond, we were dangling in the air and I saw a rainbow.

But then Ashley's grip on Leon accidentally released and we were sent under the sea.

"Ashley! Tiffany!" I heard Leon exclaim as Ashley and I swam to the surface. "Where are you?!"

We both coughed and breathed air and I scowled at the drenched blonde female in front of me.

"Seriously?" I panted and that caught her attention. "The water is so freaking cold!" I whined with quivered lips.

Ashley glared at me. "It's not my fault! My hands slipped!"

I glared at her back. "Seriously?" I repeated, exasperated. "You were hanging onto him like a koala, how can your hands possibly slip from him?!" I screeched and I was sure that caught Leon's attention.

"My hands are wet and I couldn't handle the velocity!" She retorted.

Even though I was really pissed off for getting drenched and the water was like four degrees celsius cold, I managed to crack out a sarcastic smile. "Velocity? Oh, please," I laughed and slapped the water, creating a splash. "You sound smart when you say that." I smirked at her and that made her glare grow wider.

"God, you--"

"Girls," Leon called out and looked at us with a disappointed look. "Stop bickering."

Ashley's face instantly brightened when Leon's hand reach out for her. She immediately accepted his hand and he yanked her up to the seat behind him. Leon also reached his hand out for me and I rolled my eyes and did the same.

"Come on, let's go home." Leon smiled at us and it was pretty contagious.

Freedom, at last.

"Sounds like a great idea! Mission accomplished, right Tiffany?" She peered over her shoulder and grinned at me.

Is she bipolar or something?

I plastered on my smile and shook my head. "Not quite, right Leon?"

Leon smiled and nodded. "I still have to get you girls home safe."

My smile faltered as I remembered my family.

Mom and Dad. Steffany. 6 years ago. Umbrella.

My home was long gone.

But I'm still trying to find a new home.

I smiled and nodded. "Yeah," I agreed.

I sighed then closed my eyes, resting my head on Ashley's shoulder. I just felt the tiredness kicking in my system. The wind was a calming down my tired and depressed nerves and my lips instinctively curled up into a smile.

I was still breathing.

I'm still alive.

I survived. We survived.

Out of the blue and comforting silence, I heard Ashley's voice. "So, uh... after you take me back to my place... how about we do some... Um, overtime."

Wait, is she asking him out on a... date?

My eyes opened and took a peek at Leon, anticipating for his response to her request.

Leon chuckled. "Sorry," was his only response.

I snorted and pretended that it was only me snoring. I prevented the urge to let out a giggle because he just rejected her.

"Somehow, I knew you would say that but it doesn't hurt to ask, you know?" Ashley stated and I sensed the embarrassment in her tone. "So, who was that woman, anyway?"

"Why do you ask?" Leon asked.

"Come on, tell me!" Ashley giggled and I assume that Leon was really feeling reluctant in telling her.

"Yeah, Leon, go on and tell us!" I exclaimed and it both shocked them.

"Wha... I thought you were asleep?" Ashley said with a shocked expression and I smiled.

"Hehe, I was just resting my eyes, you know~" I giggled and grinned at her like a Cheshire Cat.

Ashley gasped and glared at me. "You..." She drawled and her sharp eyes were stabbing me like knives and I couldn't help the urge to giggle in sheer delight. "You heard us, didn't you?"

"I don't know, maybe I did." I said innocently and made an oblivious expression but failed miserably.

"Stop kidding with me, Tiffany." Ashley warned and I pouted at Leon.

"She's bullying me, Leon." I gave him my puppy dog eyes and Leon just rolled his eyes at me. I mentally gasped, how dare he?! No one can resist my puppy dog eyes!

Kidding.

"Anyways, who is that woman?" I asked and excitement plastered on my face. And Ashley did the same too.

"She's like a part of me I can't let go. Let's leave it at that."

I smirked. "Can I take a guess?"

Leon chuckled. "Be my guest."

"Is it Ada?" I asked and Leon was left speechless for a moment.

"Anyways, when we get to dry land, I'm going to contact Hunnigan immediately."

I smiled and shook my head, letting it pass. It is Ada, indeed.

"Hunnigan, is that you?"

"Finally, the line's jack-free."

"Hey Hunnigan, no glasses."

"Forget the glasses, what's the status of the mission?"

"I've rescues the subject, we're returning home."

"You did it, Leon!"

"Thanks. You know, you're kinda cute without those glasses. Gimme your number when I get back?"

"May I remind you that you're still on-duty?"

"Story of my life."
