As Leon quickly opened the door, a Ganado gave us one hell of a welcome. Leon silenced the first Ganado with his gun and we noticed the dumpster not far away.
"You two, hide." Leon commanded as he continue to clear on the area. I didn't object in that though because for the first time, I felt claustrophobic in that place but maybe not in a dumpster.
We quickly and managed to get inside the dumpster although we cannot fit together in there. "God, I can't move an inch!" I groaned.
"You're not the only one." Ashley whispered. "Quit moving!" She whisper shouted.
I rolled my eyes. "Sorry, Your Majesty." I grunted with a hint of sarcasm.
Ashley just giggled and I tried to get a more comfortable position.
"Damn it." I groaned. "I can't breathe."
"It smells like garbage in here." Ashley complained.
I rolled my eyes. "Duh. It's because this is a dumpster? Where garbages are dumped?" We heard gunshots and muffled voices. It made me stop moving. "Shh, let's be quiet." I whispered and we just sat there, listening and practically not breathing because you know, this is a closed area.
"I can't breathe." Ashley complained again.
"Just hang in there, Leon's just clearing up the area." I whispered and patted her shoulder.
As gunshots subsided, we heard a whistle, making us automatically stand up and opening the lid of the dumpster in the process.
We both took a deep breath. "Air!" Ashley exclaimed and I chuckled.
"Come on!" I stepped out of the dumpster and Ashley followed. Leon was in the second platform and we found a ladder. I climbed up first and pulled out my gun, helping Leon take care of the Ganados.
"Hide there!" Leon commanded as another dumpster was right beside us.
I shook my head, not wanting to get stuck in that dumpster again. "Nah- uh." Leon smiled, knowing that going inside that dumpster was a terrible experience.
"Trust me, I've gone through worse." He mutter.
"I don't wanna get inside that dumpster again!" Ashley whined like a little girl.
I smiled teasingly at her. "Well, sucks to be you." I said as I continue to fire at the Ganados. Ashley pouted and stepped inside the dumpster.
Once we finished clearing off the circular area, the center was a lower platform. Leon and I jumped down, and looked at the surroundings. Just as we're about to take a single step, there was a hysterical squealing after a crash of woods. There revealed a woman with a chainsaw then joined another. They are like sisters.
I froze in horror, as the blades of the chainsaw spin a million times per second. It could cut down my head in less than a second. I kind of regret not joining Ashley inside the dumpster.
"Don't waver," Leon's encouraging voice said beside me as he pointed his laser at the woman's head.
"We should take one at a time." I suggested.
"We should separate. You take care of other." Leon fired his first shot at the woman with the dirty blue dress.
I looked at him with wide eyes as he ran and climbed up the ladder. "What?!" I panicked as the woman followed Leon, leaving me alone with the other.
Which reminds me...
I screamed as the tip of the chainsaw left a cut on my cheek. That was very close. The woman took advantage of me distracted at Leon and she wielded her chainsaw at my face. I quickly reacted to it and dodged it. If I haven't dodged it, I could be headless by now.
She once again charged towards me and I ran for my life, climbed up the ladder and watched her as she also make her way up. When she was halfway on the ladder, I kicked the ladder down and she screamed as she hit the ground.
I sighed. "That gotta hurt." She slowly got up, seemed not damaged at all. "Or not." I pulled out my gun and shot her several times on the head as she pull the ladder up and started climbing. I repeated the process until I ran out of ammo. "Shit." I cursed under my breath then knocked the ladder again and ran to find Leon.
"Leon!" I called out for him as I run. I heard gun shots and followed it. It was not long until I find him shot the woman for the last time before it hit the ground, presumably dead. How the hell did he do that?
"Tiffa," He finally acknowledged my presence. "You alright?"
"Help me!" I rushed to him as I heard the sound of the chainsaw coming closer.
"What?"
"I ran out of ammo." I said panting. "And she's coming for me." I pointed out.
It was evident in the woman's face that she's pissed off. Might be because I knocked her out of the ladder several times or because I ditched her or maybe she was just eager to kill me. Or maybe that's just in her face.
Leon shot the woman, seven or eight shots and she lay dead.
Leon reloaded his gun and handed me two boxes of handgun ammo. "Be careful." He reminded.
"Thanks," I gave him a quick smile and reloaded mine as well.
"Come on, let's go."
The area was swept clean and I think it's safe for Ashley to come out now. "Ashley," I called out and practically gave the dumpster a nice kick. "it's safe to come out now." I said cheerfully.
"Why kick the dumpster?" Leon asked, basically scolding me.
I shrugged as Ashley opened the lid of the dumpster, looking suffocated. "God, what took you guys so long?" She complained as she stepped out.
I rolled my eyes. "Oh you have no idea." I said bitterly and I can see Leon from the corner of my eye smirking.
Ashley walked out and flipped her not so long hair in front of my face and I instantly lost it. I squinted my eyes shut in annoyance. "Leon, please stop me before I walk towards her and give her beautiful hair a nice pull until it all comes out." I mutter so only he could hear, my voice hard and tried to make it sound like a warning.
Leon just smiled at me and patted my shoulder. "Good luck." He said then walked away to join Ashley.
Because he knew I wouldn't do that.
I groaned and took a deep breath, maintaining what was left of my composure.
Spoiled brat.
Leon jumped down to where the chainsaw sisters emerged. And being the Royal Highness she was, jumped down and Leon caught her. I sighed as I jumped down and landed on my feet.
"I got this key from the woman, I think it's for this door." Leon informed as he put the key in the keyhole and the door unlocked.
Leon, gun in hand, cautiously opened the door and the area was clear, yet.
There were like bricks, barbed wires and stuffs for cover. Obviously informing that this ambush was planned pretty well. There was a door to the right and I investigated what was behind the door, it revealed a small dusty room and a ladder going down.
I jumped down and found nothing but a way that's been blocked by woods and planks. There was a hand grenade on a box beside the ladder.
"Found anything?" Ashley asked.
I could throw the grenade at her.
"Yeah, a grenade." I informed her and climbed up the ladder to regroup.
I handed the grenade to Leon and he put it to his belt before pushing further to the destination.
There was a dumpster again.
We heard running footsteps. It was many and we looked to our left, was an army of Ganados charging towards us.
"Hide!" Leon commanded Ashley and she literally jumped inside the dumpster and closed the lid.
Leon shot the first Ganado to the face and it whined in pain, a hand on his face. Leon dashed in and kicked him, hitting the nearby Ganados as well. I fired at the Ganado on the knee, causing it to be on his knees and I kneed him straight on the face. I gazed at Leon who was holding the grenade I gave him a while back. He glanced at me then threw the grenade at the horde.
I ran for cover and jumped as I heard a deafening explosion that gave an eerie sound to my ears. I felt someone yank my forearm and I looked up to see Leon staring straight to where everything exploded.
I stood up and took my arm from his grasp, shooting him a glare. "Are you out of your mind?!" I practically yelled at his face.
Leon smiled and continued to fire at the remaining Ganados.
"You could've killed us both there!" There was an axe thrown at our direction, causing my rant session to switch at the Ganados.
"But we're not." Leon said nonchalantly as I help shoot the remaining Ganados.
"You are something else, Leon S. Kennedy." I sighed.
Leon shook his head and smirked. I think I need to think twice about giving him grenades.
When the area was clean, I opened the lid of the dumpster where Ashley was hiding. "Still alive?" I asked, amused.
Ashley's face was sour, completely drained out. "Please tell me there are no more dumpsters ahead, please." She mumbled as she stepped out.
I smiled at her as I helped her out of the dumpster. "Nope, no more dumpsters." Ashley's face brightened. "The door way out is secured now."
As we walk to the door to the exit, Leon already removed the plank that was blocking it from opening.
"You guys ready?" Leon asked as he held the handle of the door.
Ashley nodded and I readied my gun. "Let's go."
Leon opened the red double doors and we were finally out of the death trap. Only a straight way was ahead, the corners were nothingness. Leon took the lead, followed by Ashley and me. I saw a huge castle from the distance and I stared at it in awe.
There was a huge door in front. It was different from the rest. It has a face engraved in the middle and the left eye was glowing.
"This must be the only door out of the village." Leon informed and faced us. "It looks like a retinal eye scanner."
There were blue flames at the distance, the merchant must be there. "Leon, would you care to play along with the merchant? I'm going to investigate the room over there." I pointed at the room nearby on the left.
Leon nodded, unsure. I gave him a smile and walked away.
I opened the door slowly and found out that the place was clear. There was a typewriter and three lockers. I opened one of the lockers and found a box of rifle ammo and found a letter.
"Village's Last Defense," I read the title of the letter slowly. Is this the finale?
"I clearly underestimated the American agents' capability. They're still alive.
I thought that we could wait until the egg hatched and recapture the female to offer as a human sacrifice, but at this rate, they could destroy the whole village before it does. We must take care of this nuisance.
We shall change our priorities - for the time being, we will cease our hunt for Luis and ambush the three Americans.
There is a building that used to enlighten betrayers just beyond the point where you get off the lift.
It's a perfect place for ambushing them. If all else fails, they still would need to face me in order to get past the last gate that leads out of the village.
For only before my sight will the gate open."
An obvious trap. But we had no choice but fall right into their plan. We needed his eye to get out of the village. I let out a tired sigh and heard the sound of the door open. "Tiffa, we need to go." Leon called out from the doorway.
I passed by him. "Here," I handed him the paper before walking away. "The Big Cheese has the ticket to our escape. You know what we need to do."
Leon scanned the paper before putting it in his spare pockets. "Yeah,"
The rest of the trip was followed by silence, pondering about what will happen next. We got up the flight of metal stairs and some operating room for the lift. There are lockers from the back and a box of handgun ammo and flash grenade was found inside.
I know Ashley noticed the sudden change of atmosphere and I know she's worried about it.
We got on the lift.
Cold wind hit my skin, sending a chill on my spine. I heard Leon fire his gun and I immediately lifted my head to look at him.
"I know what you're thinking but don't let it get to you." Leon said to me simultaneously firing his gun at the Ganados throwing their sharp weapons at us.
I nodded. He was right. I made this a big deal than it should be. I pulled out my gun and fired at the Ganado that's been patrolling on the side and it let out a scream as it falls to nothingness.
Leon was already using his machine pistol and I helped him eliminate hostiles. Ashley was just behind our back, cheering for us as we hit the Ganados.
After the last Ganado fell, I looked over to the castle at the distance. It has a nice view from here.
When we got off the lift, we immediately got down the metal stairs and a cave-like room was ahead. We told Ashley to wait at the end of the stairs as we investigate the area, two Ganados was there and the other pulled out a dynamite while the other an axe. Leon shot the dynamite, making it explode to the two of them. We covered our eyes with our arms for foreign particles.
We pressed forward, retrieving a green herb from the exploded barrel and a ladder going up.
Leon climbed first and I followed. A Ganado was beside an altar like stone covered in blood. We shot the Ganado until he died.
"This blood's still fresh." Leon commented. "Was there some kind of ritual here?"
I shrugged. For all I know, I might end up lying dead in that altar if I didn't escape from that house.
Leon retrieved a treasure before joining Ashley who sat at the stair. "You two okay?" She asked.
We nodded and went down to the last flight of stairs and saw the merchant again. Leon ignored the merchant and just get the bullets that was beside him.
There was a door. "Looks like this is it." I announced as Leon went to open the door.
Leon gave us a nod before opening the door that led to a hill going down with the full view of the dark barn.
We ran to the door and Leon once again held the long handle. "You two better stay outside," He commanded.
My eyes widened in surprise. There is no way I'll leave him in such a dangerous situation. "Leon, but--"
"You keep an eye on Ashley, okay?" Leon stares into my eyes, his voice was hard on the last word and I knew he mean business.
Looking down and letting out a sigh, I nodded. "Just please be careful."
Ashley and I walked to the side of the barn to hide and I heard Leon open the door to get inside the barn and then followed by dead silence.
"I should've come with him." I mutter guiltily.
"Leon knows what he's doing." Ashley came up to me and put a hand on my shoulder. "All there's left to do is to trust him."
I closed my eyes and his serious face came to mind. "Yeah, I guess you're--"
My sentence was cut off with the sound of explosion. I looked at Ashley who was looking right back at me, horror plastered on her face. "Stay here!" I commanded and ran to the door that was sealed off. "Why won't it open?" I whispered as I tried to open the door. "Leon..."
"Tiffany," Ashley called out. "Trust him." She pressed.
"Okay," I smell smoke coming out from the barn and some gun shots. I just hope the gun shots won't stop or that'll be bad.
About ten minutes have passed, we just sat there well hidden. The gun shots stopped which alarmed me.
Then a sound came from the corner which made me point my gun at.
It was Leon, dirt had covered his whole appearance and he smelled like smoke. Ashley run up to him and I just stood there, frozen on my spot.
"Are you okay, Leon?" She asked quickly as she look at his figure for injuries.
He didn't have a single scratch on him. Leon nodded and gave her a quick smile, just to reassure her and he switched his gaze at me.
"Hey," Leon smiled at me as he stopped in front of me. This is just too good to be true. I slapped his cheek which surprised the both of them. "What was that for?" He asked with a shocked expression, rubbing on his cheek.
"You ARE alive!" I grinned in relief. "I thought you're just an apparition."
"Of course I'm alive, jeez," Leon rolled his eyes and pulled out an eyeball.
"An eyeball?" I squinted my eyes at it.
"Gross." Ashley mumbled and had a sour expression.
"It's our ticket to our escape." Leon declared with a smirk.
"So what are we waiting for?" I replied back with a smirk.
•••
After the long journey back to the door out of the village...
Leon pulled the eyeball out again and hovered it to the eye scanner.
The glow of the eye scanned the eyeball then after a few moments, the door clicked, signaling it was opened.
Behind that door was a way and three Ganados patrolling holding a torch. I saw handgun ammo on the side and I picked it. Leon shot the three Ganados on the head, instantly killing them and we walked forward until...
A truck pressed towards us in an incredible velocity. Leon let out a breath as he pointed his red laser at the driver then fired. The truck crushed to the side and it lost its balance.
As we continue to walk ahead, the door that we came from opened and revealed a horde of Ganados coming for us.
They are really doing anything to stop us...
Leon pulled out his shotgun and fired at them, causing them to splash to the ground. "There's no time to deal with them, it'll just slow us down. More will come, let's go! At the other side of the bridge!" Leon said and we ran to the bridge where an army of Ganados came for us.
"Yeah!" Ashley and I agreed in unison.
"Tiffa," Leon called as we passed by the opposite side of the bridge. "You take that one."
He pointed the crank that can lift the bridge to prevent the Ganados to gain access.
I looked at the crank then back at him and nodded. "Roger."
I rushed to meet the crank as the Ganados stopped right at the opposite side of the bridge. When we were in our positions, I looked at Leon. "Ready?" He asked.
I nodded and we proceeded to moving the handle of the crank in a circular motion, lifting the bridge in half.
My arms were tired after that as we regrouped. "Come on," Leon beckoned.
"Yeah," Ashley and I said in unison.
Where were we? Well, we are currently in the courtyard of the castle. And only God knows what tragedies awaited us ahead...
