Arguing with the God of Mischief and Hanging with the Science Bros - Part 22

After a while of hovering the area,  Cap, Stark are finally able to reclaim Loki and made allies with Thor. And they destroyed the surrounding forest on the way.

"Ugh you guys," I say, standing on the edge of the door surveying the damage. "Next time you guys have an argument over who is more powerful, can you try not to level your surroundings?"

"My apologies Lady..." Thor starts.

"Lexi, its just Lexi." I say, walking back to the pilot's seat and steering us back toward the helicarrier. Once I know Natasha has the plane, I let my eyes close and drift off, in hope that I can dream something about Connor or Clint.

The trailer lurches as the semi takes a turn. Selvig carefully measures an exact amount of iridium and places a device directly next to the Tesseract. The iridium falls into place and the stabilizer is complete. Selvig turns, "Lexi wake up."

"Huh?" I groan, opening my eyes.

"Come on, you are looking unprofessional." Natasha says, slightly smirking.

"Oh shut up." I say, wiping the sleep out of my eyes and picking up my stuff. I follow Natasha, Cap and Thor back into the control room. I take a seat at my station while the team watches Loki's talk with Fury. While they do that I pull up the security cameras from the museum where we caught Loki. At first I can't find anything until from one angle I notice a guard fall off a nearby roof. Shot down by an arrow.

Dang it they were there too. I can see Clint and Connor stealthy climb down from their hiding spot and take a tube of some metal from one of the safes. My breath catches when I zoom in and see Connor look straight at the camera, his normally storm - gray eyes, now a bright electric blue. I can see that What they stole from this zoom level was the iridium that I saw in my dream. Based off of Selvig's extraction theory papers, I think they could use it as a stabilizing agent to create a portal that won't fall in on itself like it did in New Mexico.

Hey! Stop giving me that look! Just because I'm a daughter of Poseidon doesn't mean I'm a seaweed brain like my brother!

Anyway, I get up from my station and walk up to the rest of my team as Loki finishes his little rant.

"Ooh. It burns you to come so close. To have the Tesseract, to have power, unlimited power. And for what? A warm light for all mankind to share, and then to be reminded what real power is." Loki says, staring Fury straight in the eyes.

Fury sets his jaw, "Well let me know if Real Power wants a magazine or something." With that note he stalks off just as Loki speaks once again.

"Oh, and bring the ice wielder to me. I wish to have some friendly words with her." Loki says as my heart starts to race in panic.

"Why should I take orders from a prisoner?" Fury says.

"Whoever said I'm a prisoner." Loki responds, flashing his sinister smile.

The feed cuts from there and we are left in an awkward silence until Banner speaks. "He really grows on you, doesn't he?"

"Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?"

I tune out their conversation here and hand Agent Romanoff the video feeds that I found on Barton and Connor. She looks over it gravely and nods in my direction.

"Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he is my brother." Thor says, countering Banner about something.

"He killed eighty people in two days." Romanoff snaps, still looking at the feeds I gave her.

"He's adopted." Thor defends. Nat grimaces at the video feed and me and Dr. Banner share a look.

"The iridium thought, what do they need the iridium for?" Banner asks.

"It's a stabilizing agent." I say along with someone who walks into the room. Stark shares a couple more words with Agent Coulson before he walks toward us. Just as he walks in I notice something flash in the corner of my eye. I look over and see Owen Pierce playing Galaga. Ugh I hate that guy sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. Fortunately Stark sees my quick glance and notices Owen playing too. He smirks and walks up to Fury's lookout point.

"Uh raise the mid-mast, ship the top sails!" Stark calls out, confusing the entire crew. Then he does something that gains him my full respect. He points over at Owen and calls him out. "That man is playing Galaga! Thought he wouldn't notice but we did." I hide a smirk and look back at the team as he continues his little spiel. "Am I the only one who did the reading?"

"Unfortunately no." I say, collapsing into one of the chairs.

Steve interjects into the conversation, "Does Loki need any specific power source?"

"He would have to heat the cube to twenty million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier." Banner states plainly.

"Unless Selvig has figured how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect." Stark responds.

"Then, he could achieve heavy ion fusion at any reactor on the planet." I finish, remembering this part of the reading.

"Finally, some people who speak English. Is that what happened?" Stark claps me on the back and walks over to have a small conversation with Banner that results in him looking down, slightly uncomfortable.

The way Tony and Bruce talked reminded me of the way Annabeth and Connor used to talk about battle strategies and the new cabins that were being built. With that glint of a mutual understanding a respect for each other along with that obvious friendship. And with that thought, I zone out from the rest of the conversation, thinking about Camp, Percy, Annabeth and especially Connor. The way his eyes looked when I saw him in the feed. It scared me. I snap out of my daze just as Tony calls my name. "Hey Lexi, stop by the lab a little later if you are bored." I nod in his direction as he and Bruce walk out of the control room.

I excuse myself and walk to my room on the helicarrier. I know I should probably sleep but my mind is too awake to do so. Loki's summoning still bother's me. I know I shouldn't go see him but I can't get Connor's face out of my head. I turn on my comm and talk to Agent Romanoff.

"Hey, Natasha? I want to talk to Loki." I say.

"Lexi, I know you are troubled but I don't think-" She starts.

"Romanoff, I need to know why he wanted to talk to me." I interrupt.

"Fine, you can go. Just don't give him too much information." She advises.

I thank her and walk down to the retention level where Loki is being held.

"You wanted to see me?" I ask stalking into the room.

"You want to know about your boyfriend." He says laying casually on his bed.

"Doesn't every girl?" I say, realizing he is trying to get into my head.

"But what make you different is that you have this burning passion for him. One you know he doesn't share with a pathetic person like you." Loki says his voice slowly curling into a sneer.

I laugh, trying to seem unaffected by his words. "With talk like that, you should become an love advice counselor. Not that the job pays well but you would probably be good at that. Once you obviously get over your habit of blowing up everything in sight."

"You pathetic girl. Don't mock me. Do you know who you are dealing with? I am a god you insolent mortal."

"And I am a demigod. A proud daughter of Poseidon, blessed by Aphrodite and I am not afraid of you. Now are we finished here? You are wasting my time." I spit at him, my temper staring to flare up.

Loki smiles again, trying to elevate my anger. "I am impressed, daughter of Poseidon, you are harder to read and play with than most. So tell me, how can you wield ice like the monsters of Jotunheim? Are you one of them hiding among the people like a parasite? You and I could be very similar in many ways Alexis Carson."

"I can do many things, because of my family. My ability to wield ice comes from them. And I am surprised you even know what a parasite is." I say, my voice cold as ice. "Though they were never around while I was getting older I learned many things from them. Trust, honor and loyalty. I didn't deceive them like you did even when they wouldn't answer our calls for help. I will never be like you. You call me pathetic but you want to lead an army against innocent, unarmed civilians. Just know Loki that what comes around, goes around. And karma will come back to haunt you." I say and stalk out of the room.

I slam the door behind me and let out a deep breath, some of the worry off of my shoulders. I wander aimlessly until I end up crashing into Cap again.

"Oh my gods, I really need to watch where I'm going. Sorry Steve!" I say, embarrassed that I slammed into him again. He just nods at me and stalks of into the opposite direction. I raise an eyebrow and walk into the lab.

"What did you guys do to Cap? Insult his patriotism?" I ask as Bruce and Tony look up from their monitors.

"Nah, we just questioned Fury's orders and he got mad." Tony responded, looking into some files that I don't think he had access to.

"Tony, did you break into SHIELD's database?" I ask.

"Err....maybe." Tony says.

"He did." Bruce smiles.

"Don't worry I won't tell." I smile. "I'm honestly surprised that they didn't put more measures in place when they called you in. I had a feeling you would hack your way in."

Tony scoffs and hands me some blueberries. "Whatever gave you that idea?"

I grab a handful and laugh. "Maybe the first thing you should look at is your SHIELD file. Then you might know why."

Bruce snorts from his computer and Tony laughs. "You know you are a pretty complex person for only being fifteen."

I smirk as an idea pops into my head. I imagine myself as a twenty-four year old when Tony's back is turned. Bruce shakes his head smiling. "Who said I was fifteen?" And since my adult voice is quite different from my teen voice Tony whips around and jumps like five feet. Bruce and I start laughing really hard as I switch back into my regular self.

He glares at me but starts laughing too. "But are you actually fifteen?"

"Yes I am." I say once I calm down.

Then Tony looks at Bruce curiously. "You said a little indian girl baited you out of the place you were in right?"

"Yeah, she was only nine or ten at the most. Why?" Bruce asks, scanning the septer again. Tony looks at me miraculously. I nod, figuring out where he is going with this. "Vaha maim tha."

Bruce looks up at me in surprise and I smirk, popping another blueberry in my mouth.

"Now if things go south I have someone to blame." Bruce says looking at me.

"Well I make no promises." I say, looking down at the ground. "I've learned not to."

"As a SHIELD agent?" Tony asks, fiddling with a sharp metal rod.

"No, as a demigod." I say, my voice catching on my breath.

"Wait a greek demigod? I thought Thor and his family were the only gods we were going to have to deal with?" Tony questions. I squirm a little. It's been months since I have mentioned Camp and I don't exactly want to start tearing up since they all think I'm dead.

Bruce notices my discomfort. Thank the gods. "You don't have to answer that unless you want to."

I smile a little sadly. "Yeah, I think that's a story for another time. I think I'm gonna go back to the control room. See you guys later."

I hear a goodbye and a see ya from Tony and Bruce as I walk out the door. Once I get to the control room, I sit down at my station just as I hear an alarm go off that a virus has been detected in the system. Wonderful, Tony finally tripped a firewall.

The sun starts to rise and I run through the security cameras around the helicarrier. Sometimes its actually pretty funny to see whats going on. Every once in a while I find the random couple kissing in the hallway. Then I make the PA system for that hallway blast out "AGENTS!" so they freak out. Its great.

Unfortunately I don't see any victims and when I go to the cameras on the deck my stomach drops. Hovering close to the helicarriers is a SHIELD quinjet and standing on the edge of the door of it is Agent Barton. With his bow drawn pointed toward one of the engines. Crap.
