Chapter 17: вαѕєвαℓℓ

Baseball

****Bellas P.O.V****

I walked into the dining room where dad was cleaning his gun. I grabbed another can of Vitamin R from the fridge. "Got you another one." And set it in front of him.

"Thanks." I was a bit nervous to tell him, but I did anyways.

"I have a date with Edward Cullen."

"He's a little old for you. Isn't he?" Dad asked.

"No, he's a junior, I'm a junior. I thought you liked the Cullen's?" I asked.

"I thought you didn't like any of the boys in town."

"To be fair dad, I didn't technically say that and they technically don't live in town, they live outside and come in for whatever." Dad sighed. "He's right outside." I added.

"He is?"

"He wanted to meet you. Officially."

"All right. Bring him in." He said as he clicks his gun.

"And could you be nice, he's really important to me." Dad did a halo around his head. I went to get him. Edward took my waist.

"Chief Swan." He greeted dad. "I wanted to formally introduce myself. I'm Edward Cullen." Edward shook dad's hand.

"Hi Edward." Dad shook Edwards hand back.

"Bella won't be out too late tonight. She's gonna play baseball with my family." Edward informed my dad.

"Baseball?" He asked with an amused tone. I didn't need mind powers to know he was thinking about how I wouldn't and couldn't play.

"Yes sir, that's the plan." Edward said. Dad laughed a little.

"Bella's gonna play baseball. Well, good luck with that." Dad said.

"I'll take good care of her, I promise." Edward assures dad and placed his hand in mine. We then turned around to leave.

"Bella?" I stopped and turned. "You still got that pepper spray?" He whispered.

"Dad." I shook my head and left.

Edward was fitting a baseball cap on my head while we were talking.

"Since when do vampires like baseball?" I asked amused.

"Well, it's the American past time and there's a thunderstorm coming . It's the only time we can play. You'll know why when we start." He took me out of town to where the others were playing.

~Time skip to field~

"Bella, I'm glad here, we need an umpire." Kirsten said as she lead me towards the home plate.

"She thinks we cheat." I heard Emmett.

"Oh, I know you cheat." Kirsten replied. "Call 'em as you see 'em."

"It's time." Alice said as thunder roared. They all got ready to play, even Kirsten. She looks like she's going to catch the ball.

Alice threw the ball and Rosalie hits it first. It sounded like thunder, which made it all clear.

"Now I see why you need the thunder." Rosalie started to run the bases. "That's gotta be a home run?" I asked.

"I don't know. Edwards pretty fast." As Kirsten said that the ball comes hurling towards her. She miraculously catches it. She then looks at me.

"You're out." I stated. Rosalie gets up and glared at me as she walked away.

"Out. Woahhhh..." Emmett yelled excitedly. Rosalie looks at him with a 'really' look. "Come on, it's just a game."

As Rosalie walks by Carlisle, he says, "Nice kitty."

"Meow." Kirsten meowed.

Both of them laughed. Carlisle walked up to the plate and got into position.

Alice threw the ball again. He hit it and began to run. As the ball was in the air, both Emmett and Edward looked at it and jumped at the same time. When they reached for the ball, they collided with each other making it sound like boulders hitting the ground. They made it to where Carlisle got a home run. Then it was Jaspers turn.

He walks up to the plate. Jasper hits the ball.

As it's getting closer to Emmett, Emmett climbs the tree grabbing it making him look like a monkey and throwing it to Kirsten.

"My monkey man." I heard Rosalie say. Then it was Rosalie's turn again. As the ball is in mid-air, Alice goes into a vision.

"Stop!" She called all of them, rushing back with worried looks. "They we're leaving then they heard us." Edward grabbed my arm.

"Let's go." He said.

"It's too late." Carlisle told him.

"Put your hair down." Edward told me and I put my hair down.

"Like that'll help, I can smell her from across the field." Rosalie said.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"I'm sorry, I should've never brought you here." He apologized but I didn't get what was going on. "Keep quiet and stay behind us." I was taken to stand behind him.

Then I noticed three people walking out of the fog. They walked up and stopped a few feet from us. One male has blonde hair in a long ponytail going down his back, the other male is African-American with dread locks, and the woman is a redhead. The African-American has the ball and talks first.

"I believe this belongs to you." He said. He throws the ball back.

Thank you." Carlisle said.

"I am Laurent, this is Victoria and this is James." Laurent said pointing to himself and the two others, introducing them.

"I'm Carlisle and this is my family." Carlisle responded, pointing to us. "I'm afraid your hunting activities have caused something of a mess."

"Our apologies, we did not realize that this territory had been claimed."

"Yes, we maintain a permanent residence nearby."

"Really? Well we won't be a bother anymore, we were just passing through." Laurent informed us.

"The humans were tracking us but we lead them East. You should be safe." Victoria said.

"Excellent." Carlisle said.

"So, could you use three more players." There was a thick tension pause. "Oh, come on. Just one game."

Carlisle sighed, "Sure, why not. A few of us were leaving anyways. You can take their place. We'll bat first." He threw the ball towards Laurent but Victoria caught it.

"I'm the one with the wicked curveball." She said with a smirk.

"Oh, I think we can handle that." Jasper said with a smirk.

"Ohhh." Laurent 'ohhhd'.

"We shall see." Said Victoria.

James stood there looking at Edward for a few seconds then he turned us around and there was a gust of wind blowing my hair in James's direction.

James sniffed the air, "you brought a snack." James sneered. Edward pushed me back as the others hissed in defense. Everyone was crouched.

"The Girl is with us." Carlisle told them.

"I can see that the game is over, we'll go now... James." And they left.

"Take the girls home. Go" I was lifted up along with Kirsten and taken to the jeep. Edward set Kirsten down inside and he put me in trying to do my seatbelt.

"I got it!" He slammed the door and got in the other side.

"So what? Now they're coming after us?" I asked loudly.

"He didn't smell Kirsten because she's been with us longer than you have. Listen to me. James is a tracker. The hunt is his obsession. I read his mind, my reaction on the field set him off. I've just made this his most exciting game ever. He's never going to stop." I held onto the Jeep as drove fast downhill.

"What do we do?" I asked.

"We'll have to kill him." Edward stated, "Rip him apart and burn the pieces."

"Where are we going?"

"Out of Forks, we'll get a ferry to Vancouver."

"What?!" I yelled. "No way, you take me home, right now."

"You can't go home, Bella. He'll trace your scent there. It'll be the first place he's gonna look."

"My dad's there?" I stressed.

"It doesn't matter." Edward snaps at me.

"Yes it does, he could get killed because of me. Edward Anthony Mason-Cullen, you take me home right now!"I ordered. "We'll figure something out but you're taking me home."
I came up with a plan which I hoped would work.
