It had been 4 months since I skipped out on the city for awhile. Actually it had been 4 months since I asked Dr Bailey for help with my mental health and I'm better now, not fully but I'm better than I was. I'm currently 8 months pregnant and it's New Year's Eve, Lexie and I have been together for 3 months in a proper relationship.

"One month until your here little one. Your big sister and I are looking forward to meeting you and so is Lexie, uncle mark, auntie jade and Emma, uncle Adam, everyone" I said softly to the baby, I was currently home alone, Echo at day care and Lexie was at work, I was meeting her at the hospital in a few hours and she was coming with me for my baby scan, Alex was also coming so Lexie was also giving me extra support.

"Shower, get dressed, eat something then to the hospital" I decided to plan what I wanted to do before leaving to the hospital. I felt grubby as I hadn't had any energy for the last week which has resulted in me being pretty lazy and not showering. I headed into my bathroom and quickly showered and got dressed into a pair of maternity jeans with a sweatshirt.

I was feeling anxious about seeing Alex as we still are aren't exactly close any more, we do talk but I wouldn't say we will ever be close again but we will be civil for our child's sake

I arrived at the hospital at half 10 and met Lexie, Alex was meeting us at the maturity unit, I was knackered but I still wasn't going to put too much pressure on myself.

"Sorry I'm late, your brother had me scrub in on surgery" Lexie apologised

"It's fine Lex' the appointment isn't until 11" I reassured Lexie as I gave her a hug. The two of us made our way to the scan. Alex was already waiting for us to. I booked in and sat down with Lexie by my side. Alex sat on my opposite side too, I rested my head on Lexie's shouder and closed my eyes as I let out a yawn, I was tired but that's fine it was going to be a lot more tired when baby number two is born.

"Astrid Sloan?!" I was called and I made my way over.

"I'm sorry but only baby's father can come in" the woman said and I shook my head, I couldn't go in just with Alex, I hadn't been in a room with him without someone close to me since before I saw him and Addison, arguements just break out and I can't have that happening again.. Addison and I have sorted things out but we aren't as close as we were.

"I'm sorry but I'm having Lexie come in because she is going to be part of baba's life and unless you want an argument to break out or me to have a mental breakdown go ahead and make my girlfriend stay out here" I said folding my arms as I glanced towards Lexie. After a few minutes Lexie was allowed in and I was having the scan. Everything was fine and within half an hour I was out

It was about 6pm when I was in agony, I was getting Echo ready for bed, she had her bath and it was time for her to settle down. I had been experiencing stomach cramps since lunchtime, I had got home and ran myself a bath and for some reason I was experiencing a lot of pain, they weren't normal cramps though... but that's when I realised that I was going into labour.

"Shi- no this baby can't be coming now" I stopped myself from swearing in front of my daughter.

"Echo baby we need to go out, can you get your shoes on please" I tell my daughter

"Mama?" Echo said softly looking to me, she looked tired.

"Baby I'm okay. We're just going to see uncle Marky" I said to Echo. Echo gets her shoes on and we head to the car and I got Echo into her car seat....

After the drive to the hospital I got Echo out the car, as Tbw two of us made our way to the entrance my waters break, this baby was coming now today, I focused on my breathing as we walked into the ED.

"Torres, my waters have broke, I have Echo, I don't know we're mark or Lexie are" I said as a contraction strikes me

"I'll take care of Echo. We will get you to maturnity and then I'll find your brother and Grey" Callie said softly to me and I nodded. I didn't even think of Alex, he would want to be their for the baby's birth.

"And Karev, he should be their" I sighed not really wanting him to be their, Callie got me into a wheelchair as I was struggling to even walk.

"Astrid you need to start pushing on your next contraction" I was told as I squeezed Lexie's hand really tight. It was 11:40 and I had been in labour for hours.

"This baby is going to be a new year eve baby" I giggled as I was high on gas and air.

"It might be a new year day baby" Alex pointed out but I wanted it out now, it was going to be here soon I knew it. I tried to focus on my breathing as a contraction came and I pushed.

"Congratulations Astrid.. it's a girl" I smiled as I heard those words. I glanced at the clock on the wall it was 11:58. I listened to the little cry's of the baby and smiled, echo was a big sister, I was a mom of two, it all seemed so surreal. I was handed my daughter and immediately knew what her name was going to be, I would just have to make sure Alex was in bored 'Amethyst Dove Sloan' her name has to be that, it just seemed right.

"Theirs 20 seconds until midnight" Lexie said softly and I smiled, we counted down, I held baby girl Sloan close to me as the clock struck midnight

"Happy New Year" I said giving Lexie a kiss.

"Happy New Year baby. Welcome to the world, it's a little messed up but I'll carry you through. Your sister and I will protect you, Lexie will protect you, uncle marky will probably and your daddy will too" I whispered to the baby. I couldn't believe I had two girls, two beautiful baby girls who I was never going to fail, they were important and nothing would stop my love for them. Nothing
