six
It's Saturday. I wake up feeling conflicted. It's unlikely I'll see Seungmin today, and I can't decide if that's a good or bad thing.
Rolling over in my bed, I grab my phone and see that I have a few messages from Seungmin himself
Seungmin:
goodmorning
wake up
no seriously
how do people sleep in so late
wake up
right now
fine. don't wake up.
Rolling my eyes, I prop myself up on my elbows. He's usually not this clingy or active; what is up with him today? Maybe he's still trying to figure out what happened yesterday. I have such a hard time reading him.
Texting him back, I tell him goodmorning and I ask him what he wants so early. Almost immediately, I get a response.
Seungmin:
do i need a reason to text someone?
but fine. i want to see you later.
you know that cafe on the main road. i'll see you there in a few minutes?
Sighing, I turn off my phone and rub my hands over my face. It's too early to stress about hiding my feelings from him. Going against my common sense, I text Seungmin back and agree to see him later.
I arrive at the cafe to see Seungmin waiting outside, his hands stuffed deep in his pockets. He's rocking back and forth on his heels when he sees me walk towards him. His face lights up and he runs towards me, a smile ready.
"Hey!" he says excitedly. When he gets to me, he stops and reaches down to pat the top of my head. He laughs and continues. "Your hair is wild today." I shrug him off and hit his shoulder.
"I just woke up, okay? I didn't have time or energy to get ready." Seungmin rolls his eyes playfully and leads me into the cafe, closing the door behind me.
It's quiet, most people having gotten their morning coffee a few hours before. There's only one customer and the barista in the cafe besides us. The barista looks up at the sound of the bell, signaling our entrance.
Walking over to the counter, we quickly order and Seungmin pulls out his wallet to pay when the barista stops him.
"No, don't worry about it. It'll be on the house," he winks at me before pressing a few buttons on the cash register. I feel Seungmin stiffen next to me as I blush, pleasantly surprised and flattered.
Seungmin grabs my hand and intertwines our fingers. When I look up at him, he's giving the poor guy a fierce glare. I huff and send an apologetic look to the barista before pulling Seungmin off to the side.
Removing my hand from his, I fold my arms across my chest and give Seungmin a dirty look, raising my eyebrows. He returns the look, looking down his nose at me. His lip curls up and he keeps staring at me.
"What?" he finally demands, a muscle in his jaw ticking. God, I'm so fed up with his attitude. One minute, he's ignoring me in class, and the next, he's being protective in a cafe. I can't keep up. Not to mention, he is the one who specifically said that our "relationship is fake". I can't read him anymore.
I narrow my eyes but shrug, dropping my hands and turning forward. I decide to just ignore him and the way he makes me feel.
When his name is called, Seungmin goes to grab our cups from the barista. He gives him another dirty look and comes back over to me, a lopsided grin on his face.
"Let's go sit at a table outside," he says, bumping me with his hip as he passes. I resist the urge to smile at his antics. Seungmin places our cups on the table and pulls out my chair as he passes it. He sits to the one next to it and looks at me happily. When I sit down, he tilts his head to the side and smiles again, this time softer.
"You know," Seungmin says, a thoughtful expression on his face. "It's been a while since I had coffee." I look at him over the rim of my coffee cup.
"Really? Why? Don't you like it?" I bite my lip, knowing I probably asked too many questions. Seungmin just laughs and reaches over to pat my head again.
(ahh don't come for me, seungmin just seems like the pat on the head type of boyfriend okay)
"No, I like it. It's just, I don't usually like dates like these. I don't know why; I guess I'm more of someone who likes to be alone. I like hanging out with you, though." I blush and look down, my heart beating faster than usual. Sighing, I play with my fingers, contemplating if I should make my feelings known.
Seungmin covers my hand with his, making me look up at him. He's got a concerned expression on his face.
"I can practically hear you thinking," he murmurs, rubbing soothing circle onto the back of my hand. "You want to talk about it or..." Seungmin trails off, looking a little unsure of himself.
Shaking my head at myself, I start talking. I know I'm probably going to regret saying this, but I'm going to get it off my chest. What do I have to lose?
"Minnie, I-" He looks at me, and his brown eyes make my heart melt. If I had any doubts before, his eyes made them disappear.
"I don't want this anymore. Not for show. I know you were just using me to prove a point, but I don't want that now. It's just, I know how I feel about you, and I know I won't be able to handle having you play me, so don't. Just tell me straight up."
Looking at him, I roll my eyes at his completely straight face and continue, just to get a reaction from him.
"I'm a big girl, Seungmin. Don't play games with me right now."
