[20] A Blanket Party

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?"

Our steamy makeout session is interrupted by Macey's shriek.

"Macey, what are you doing here?" I ask, quickly covering up.

"What are YOU doing?" She yells.

"I think what we were doing is pretty obvious." Will chimes in.

"Can I talk to you, Kathryn? Alone?" Macey growls.

"Sure. After a little while. Bye!" I force a smile. I'm starting to get annoyed with her. Clearly, she's Team Chase on this.

"No, I want to talk right now. Can you leave us, Will?" She demands.

"No, he cannot." I say before Will can.

"It's okay, Kat. You guys clearly need to talk. We'll pick up where we left off later." He kisses me on the cheek and leaves.

"Great. Thanks a lot, Macey," I grumble. "You're such a cockblocker."

"One fight with Chase and you go crawling to that sleazeball?" She narrows her eyes.

"The only sleazeball is Chase. He isn't who we thought he was. We need to accept that." I point out.

"I can't believe you're picking that loser stoner guy over the quarterback." She laughs without humour.

"If you like him so much, you should go date him yourself," I snap and she rolls her eyes. "But you already did, didn't you?"

"You shouldn't believe everything Ashleigh McKnight tells you," she states.

"Ashleigh didn't tell me anything. It was a guess and I think you just confirmed it." I sigh.

I don't know what or who to believe anymore. What the hell is going on between Macey and Chase? Everyone seems to think that she's in love with him. But if she's in love with him, why does she want me to be with him?

"Okay, I'm done trying to be nice to you. You the same entitled brat that you have always been," she says coldly.

"Where is this coming from, Macey? What have I ever done to you?" I ask, surprised. She shakes her head and leaves.

I'm extremely confused. Was all of this some kind of an evil plan to hurt me? Why would Macey even bother to do all that? I've never done anything to her.

"WYATT!" I yell. He takes his time to come to my room. Maybe he will have some insight on this.

"What is it?" He asks and I explain the whole situation to him.

"I'm going to kill him," He curls his fists.

"As much as I'd appreciate that, I can fight my own battles," I say.

"You're my little sister. I can't let him get away with this," he insists.

"Wyatt, leave it be. I'm asking you if you have any idea why Macey would want to do something like this to me," I repeat.

"She's always been jealous of you. Augusta barely pays attention to her and she's never even met her dad. Our parents have always been there for us," he shrugs.

"Oh, come on. That can't be it. Maybe I'm overthinking anyway. I should just drop it," I sigh.

"Yeah, you should. Anyway, I gotta go. I'll be back in a bit," he says quickly. I ask him where he's going and he says that he has an errand to run and rushes away. That was odd.

And then it hits me. Chase. CHASE!

He's going after Chase! I try run after him but I'm too late. He's already gone. I try calling him a couple of times but his phone is unavailable. I try the next thing I can think of.

"Andy! Thank God you answered!" I exclaim.

"Don't worry, Kat. We're going to defend your honor," he says seriously.

"Defend my honor? What is this, the medieval era?" I laugh.

"He can't get away it and he won't. We're gonna make him pay," I text Will to come over as Andy talks. I have a feeling I'm gonna need a ride.

"Who is 'we'? And what are you planning to do?" I panic.

"The Riverbrook University football team. We're gonna give him a blanket party." I can hear his smugness through the phone.

"Seriously? You're gonna throw a blanket over his head and beat him up?" I roll my eyes. Will replies to my text saying he's on his way.

"No, we'll skip the blanket. That way we'll be able to see the terror on his face while we beat him to a bloody pulp." I've never seen Andy this way before. This isn't the goofy Andy that I know.

"You're doing no such thing. It's just a stupid rumor, Andy. I can deal with it myself." I insist.

"It's not okay, Kathryn. Don't worry, we'll deal with it." He says and hangs up. Ugh! I never should have told Wyatt.

I hear the familiar roar of Will's motorcycle and I run to the front door.

"Don't get off! We have somewhere to go." I yell.

"Whoa, what's wrong? Where are we going?" He looks worried.

"Wyatt and his teammates are going to beat Chase up," I answered.

"Maybe that's a good thing. I mean, he deserves it." He's confused.

"Violence is not always the answer, Will," I roll my eyes.

"Really? Cause I heard you punched Chase today, which is awesome, by the way." He grins.

"The last thing I want is the whole school blaming me for their golden guy getting beaten up," I admit.

"Screw them! Chase is gonna get what he deserves."

"Are you going to help me or not?"

"Fine, let's go. He's probably still at practice." I put on an extra helmet and hop onto the motorcycle, holding on to him tightly.

He drives as fast as he can but it seems like we're too late. I see Wyatt's car parked outside the school. We run towards the football ground to see it empty. The only person there is a guy with thick black glasses, wearing a plaid sweater.

"Hey Micah, have you seen Chase?" Will asks him.

"I think he's in the locker room. Thanks for your help with my dad's car by the way!" He smiles at Will.

"No worries, man. See ya." We run to the locker room and I see Wyatt and two other guys beating Chase up.

"I don't like to get my hands dirty," Andy shrugs, leaning against the lockers, watching them.

"Enough!" I yell loudly causing them to stop.

"I can't believe you set your brother and his friends on me." Chase whimpers.

"I didn't. That's enough, you guys. I think he learnt his lesson." I state.

"Admit that you lied." Wyatt threatens him.

"Fine! Okay! I lied! Please stop. " Chase begs.

One of Wyatt's friends pushes Chase away and he stumbles out.

"Was that really necessary? I told you I'd take care of it!" I cry.

"Now you don't have to. He won't bother you again. Let's go." He walks out with his friends.

"Thanks for everything, Will. I'll see you tomorrow." I give him a peck and leave with Wyatt.

On the bright side, at least I don't have to face the burden of breaking up with Chase. Wyatt just did it for me! Yay.
