[13] This Day Is So Not A Pocketful Of Sunshine
I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshiiiiine. I got a love and I know that it's all mine oh oh oh ohhhhh.
I hit the snooze button.
I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshiiiiine.
I hit the snooze button again.
I've got a- "Ugh!" I groan, getting out of bed. I'm so sick of that stupid song. A piece of advice from me: Never set a song you like as your alarm because you're gonna start to hate it. Like seriously.
I have a killer headache and my mouth feels drier than the Sahara desert. My body feels heavy. I think I had a lot to drink last night. I chug a ton of water and decide to go back to sleep.
I wake up a couple of hours later, feeling a little better. I go to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast.
"You're finally up!" Wyatt cheers.
"Could you speak any louder?!" I grumble.
"Yes!" He screams.
"Not cool!" I whack his arm as he laughs.
"You look like you had fun last night." He remarks.
"I really did." I think about Will and Alex's epic prank and then I think about my kiss with Chase.
"What's for breakfast?" I ask.
"It's 2 pm, Kat." Wyatt says.
"Oh shit." Did I really sleep for that long?!
"I'll make you some pancakes." He suggests. I have the best brother ever.
"Hello children," I hear a voice behind me. I turn around to see-
"Aunt Augusta. There's a doorbell, you know?" Wyatt looks annoyed. I don't blame him. She's always been horrible to him.
"I don't need to ring the doorbell, I have key." She runs her fingers through her long blonde hair.
"Hey Aunt Augusta, what's up?" I ask.
"My house is getting fumigated so I'll be here for the day," She states. "You don't mind, do you?"
A hangover and Aunt Augusta together? This day is so not a pocketful of sunshine.
"Oh, hell n-" I punch Wyatt in the arm.
"No worries!" I smile at her.
"Why are you making pancakes at this time? You children have no discipline. You could learn a thing or two from Macey." She grumbles and we ignore her. "Fedora, did you and Macey have a good time at Lindsey's last night? She's such a wonderful girl."
"Aunt Augusta, it's Kathryn. And last night?" What was she talking about? It hits me in a couple of seconds. There's no way Augusta would have let Macey go for Ashton's party so she pretended that we stayed at Lindsey's. Huh. Why didn't she just tell me that?
"Oh yeah, we had a great time. We spent all night talking about our favorite passages from the Bible." I say as Wyatt lets out a chuckle.
"But you're Jewish." Aunt Augusta folds her arms.
"Doesn't stop me from having a favorite passage in the Bible!" I give her an angelic smile. The truth is that I'm not very religious. Religion just isn't a priority to me.
"Your pancakes are ready." Says Wyatt.
"God forbid, you make something healthy for once. When was the last time either of you ate a vegetable?" Aunt Augusta starts and I stop myself from rolling my eyes.
"Do you even know what a vegetable is, Wyatt?" She continues while I hog my pancakes, pouring a ton of maple syrup on them. "Fedora, have you no manners?" She sighs.
"What? I'm hungry." I shrug.
"Do you know when Macey is going to be back from Lindsey's?" She asks and I shake my head. "Fedora don't chew with yo-" She gets cut off by the doorbell.
"I'll get it!" I say. Saved by the bell.
I open the door and Andy walks in. Oh boy. Let's just say that Andy is not exactly Aunt Augusta's favorite person, and it's the same thing the other way round.
"Sup Kitty-Kat." I roll my eyes at the annoying nickname.
"Hey man." Wyatt says and they fist bump.
"Why is your crazy aunt here?" Andy asks.
"Her house is getting fumigated, apparently." I say.
"Wow, lucky you." He teases.
"Melanie Cartwright's son," She looks at Andy. "How's your mother, dear? What is this, her fifth marriage now? Or sixth? I forget." She snarks.
"That really isn't any of your business now, is it Mrs Gilbert?" He snaps back.
"Aunt Augusta, why don't you surprise Macey by picking her up from Lindsey's? I'm sure she'd love it." Wyatt suggests.
"Hmph. I guess she would like that." She says after thinking for a minute.
Go Wyatt!
"Okay, I'll see you later." She exits the house.
"Finally!" I sigh. "I hate that woman." Andy grunts.
"We all do." Wyatt agrees. We spend the rest of the day playing video games on Wyatt's new PS4.
