A word can paint a thousand pictures.
Nothing is better than introducing the old cult-classic horror films to someone who's never seen them. . . and finding a brand new horror buddy along the way. Anyways, that's not really the topic of this chapter.
If a picture can paint a thousand words, then surely a word can paint a thousand pictures.
Let's make a list of words that can be used in a horror story/book. Why, you say? Because it's a fun little exercise to help writers expand their vocabulary.
Here are some words to start:
Grotesque Dreadful Gnarly Bloodcurdling Gut-wrenching Sinister Repugnant Ghoulish Adrenaline Bone-chilling Ominous Shudder Petrified Trepidation Moldy Cadaverous Blanched Terror Menacing Dank Sludge Noxious Piliferous Coarse Stupefaction Vicious
Share your knowledge or see what else you can find on the web! Add your words to this list via comment section. Keep in mind, alternative spellings exist (such as Moldy and Mouldy).
Don't forget- using simple words can still create a very powerful scene.
