*Author's Note as of 11/5/2021*

Hey guys, so I thought after many years this book deserves some context beforehand. This is a book about a sad guy who pines for his best friend who is in an abusive relationship. Nobody is the hero in this story. Everyone has flaws they need to work on. The main character Kouta is two fedoras away from becoming an incel. This is a book about working on yourself as a person as a relationship is not meant to fix you. 

LET ME REPEAT - A RELATIONSHIP IS NOT MEANT TO FIX YOU. 

Kouta's mindset comes from a place of depression and insecurity. He is meant to be relatable but also in the wrong as well. I did not put any context on this story in the beginning as I wanted the people who actually need this story to not be turned off in the first chapter.  

I wrote this book in 2014-2015 when I was a teenager. It's based on the personal experiences of my brother who struggled with image issues when he was in high school. This story is not a love story. This is an acceptance story.

I want to be more than friends though.

I think she knows it too.

She gave me the flowers she always picks by her house.

They're for my mom she says.

I tell her thank you.

Then she walks away.

But I want her to stay.
