Chapter 8
Sally's Car Lot & The Fall Festival
The next morning, I wake up in my small yet comfortable bed in I and Caitlin's dorm in my soaking wet clothes from last night with Justin. I slowly sit up in my bed, stretch my arms out, and yawn loudly and slowly. I run my fingers through my long dark brown chestnut hair slowly and rub my eyes slowly. I begin to look around I and Caitlin's dorm to find Caitlin gone.
I find a neon green sticky note on the top of the flat-screen TV so I jump out of my bed and walk over to where the sticky note is. I tug out it and then snatch it off and begin to read it:
I, Bailey, Brandon, & Tyler left early to go to Starbucks and to get some breakfast from McDonald's. We have left you a Starbucks frappé and a breakfast burrito, hash browns, a biscuit, and a blueberry yogurt on your nightstand. Were at class by now, so bye.
Love,
Bailey, Cait, Brandon, & Tyler
Aww, I didn't know they did that, they are so sweet, I think to myself. I turn my head and look over to my nightstand to find a Starbucks frappé, a bag of McDonald's breakfast, my tiny sliver alarm clock, my iPhone 6S, and my iPod. All of a sudden, the memories and moments of last night with Justin flood into my head like a huge tidal wave, from the singing at Karaoke Superstar Singer to the dancing in the rain in the empty streets of downtown Wisconsin. Then, I remembered he kissed me, we kissed in the rain under the moonlight.
I gasp loudly and cover my mouth with my two small hands. I and Justin kissed, I think to myself. What if that kiss could mess up our close friendship? What if that kiss was a mistake? What if that kiss could destroy the good relationship I have with Justin? The door flies open quickly and I quickly fall out of my unanswered questions and slowly turn to the door. I except to see Bailey and the rest of my friends. But, it is Justin Bieber.
Justin is wearing a plain white T-shirt, a red plaid short sleeve shirt, tight black pants, a red and black snapback, and a pair of black Converse. "I'm sorry about last night. I don't want this to ruin our friendship, Mel. I didn't mean to kiss you...I just...I'm sorry. Is it too late to say sorr--" Justin apologies, begins to say walking up to by I rudely interrupt him pulling his shirt and body close to me. I grab his face slowly and pull it into mine. We kiss slowly, softly, and beautifully. His lips taste like heaven and I can't get enough. Justin's long arms grab my torso and pull me even closer.
I stop kissing him and whisper into his ear softly to ask, "Did I ever tell you that you talk to much, Justin?, He laughs softly. We both pull away and give each other space. Justin looks me up and down quickly and say, "your still in those wet clothes from last night, Mel" he laughs and I join in, in the funny joke. "Yes, I need to take a shower and get ready for class." I say.
I begin to walk towards the door but, quickly pulls me back. "You must have a bad habit of pulling people back when they are about to leave." I say, smiling and giggling. "Yea, I might. But, I wondering do you...want to...go...to the fall festival with me tonight?" He asks, stuttering and smiling hopefully and weakly all at the same time.
"Are you asking me out on a date, Justin?" I ask, smiling and giggling. "Uh no. It's a friendly get-together." He lies, through his clenched shiny white teeth and his weak smile. He is such a bad liar, I think to myself. "Yes. I would love to go. I would love to go with you tonight." I say, happily. He nods and smiles widely. "Well, I'm gonna let you get ready and stuff. I'll come back when your done. Bye, Mel." He says, happily and waving. He walk towards the open dorm door and begins to walk out. "Bye, Justin." I say, waving. And, his gone.
Wow, I can't believe I just kissed Justin, I think to myself. I never knew I had that kind of confidence in me, in myself. I'm usually so insecure, quiet, and completely shy but, now I feel so fearless and confident. I go over to my nightstand and get down on my knees as I open the drawer and begin to pick the outfit of the day: a dark purple and black short sleeve plaid shirt, a black knit beanie, tight and skinny dark blue denim jeans, and a pair of black Converse along with a pair of black silk bra and panties.
I fold my clothes and sit them on my bed. I grab mg bathroom necessities and walk out of the dorm and down the hall towards The Co-Ed Showers.
I take off of my clothes, strip naked, and jump into the shower. The hot steamy water coos my cold skin and I let out a sigh of relief and resurgence.
I wash my hair, body, and face. I jump out of the shower, grab my towel and bathroom necessities, dry off, run out of The Co-Ed Showers, and into the I and Caitlin's dorm quickly.
After I shut and lock the door, I blow dry my wet and tangled hair, flat-iron it, and braid it into a side braid. I quickly get dress and grab my iPod, golden dorm key, and my iPhone 6S, sliding them into my back pocket slowly. I take a seat down on my small bed to eat my breakfast burrito and drink my Starbucks latte.
I check my tiny sliver alarm clock and it says: 7:56, I grab my things and begin to walk out when I hear a small knock at the door.
I slowly open it to find Justin standing in the doorway with a wide smile plastered on his handsome face. Justin is wearing a short-sleeved black T-shirt, grey and black snapback, light blue denim jeans, and a pair of grey Converse. "You ready to go, Mel?" Justin asks, smiling. "Yea, let's go." I answer.
The day goes by fast: Ms. Brownfield talks more and more about Pride & Prejudice and reminding us how our book report on Pride & Prejudice is due next Monday, we paint a portrait of ourselves, and we sing high notes.
I and Justin push open the glass doors of The Classes building and rush outside. The air is windy and colder than Antarctica. "How was your day?" He asks, curiously. "Fine. How about yours?" I ask. "Good. I'm having another basketball game next Sunday." He says, happily. "I'll be there." I say, cheerfully. He smiles happily and runs his long fingers through his bleached and platinum blonde hair slowly.
"I will pick you up at 8 for The Fall Festival, but, it starts at 9, so make sure your ready." He demands. "Okay, cool. I can't wait!" I exclaim. "I have to go to basketball practice. I don't want to be late my dad is going to kick my ass." He laughs. "Okay, bye, Justin." I say, smiling and waving goodbye. He slowly walks away and waves at me smiling and then his gone. I dig into my back pocket and pull out my iPhone 6S, it is only 12 in the afternoon. I decide to walk back to I and Caitlin's dorm and I find Bailey and Caitlin sitting down watching The Notebook, Caitlin is dramatically crying and Bailey is eating a burrito.
"Hey, guys." I say, happily. Caitlin turns around slowly and begins to wipe her tears and Bailey turns around. "Hey" Bailey says, flat-toned happily. "Ali's mom hide Noah's letters from Ali...." Caitlin says, crying.
"Do you guys want to go car shopping with me today?" I ask, happily. "Sure." Bailey says.
Caitlin grabs her car keys, I grab my wallet, we walk our of the dorm, into the hallway, and outside towards the parking lot of Wisconsin State University. I jump into the passenger seat while Caitlin gets into the front and Bailey hops into the back. We drive off down the roads of downtown Wisconsin. We search high and low for car lots up and down downtown Wisconsin. After a few hours of searching, We finally find a car lot called Sally's Car Lot a few miles from WSU.
We jump out quickly and begin to scan the large selection of cars; Sedans, Volvo, Corolla, BMW, Honda, Camry, and hundred more. "Hey, ladies I'm Sally. But, you can call me Old Sally. What can I help you with today?" Sally asks. Her hair is shiny and blonde and she has dirt stains all over her denim overalls. "I'm looking for a car. A good-working car." I say, happily. "Well, I advice you to check out some Sedans or Volvo." Sally says, smiling.
"Thanks a million." I say. I, Caitlin, and Bailey walk away and over to the large collection of cars and begin to look through all of them one by one.
A buzzing sound goes off in my back pocket, I begin to dig through it, and pull it out. It is a text from Justin so I open and begin to read it to myself:
Basketball practice is almost done so I will see you in a few hours to pick you up for The Fall Festival.
Bizzle
I smile and begin to start texting him back:
Okay, I'm just out with my friends searching for a car at a car lot. I'm so excited to get a car. Can't wait for tonight! See ya.
Mel
I send the text and slip my iPhone 6S back into my pocket quickly. I point to the sliver Toyota Camry and say happily, "I would like this one, please." Old Sally nods, I give her the money and pay for it, Sally hands me my car keys, and I grab them, and begin to walk over to my car, a sliver Toyota Camry.
I excitedly jump in, put in my seat belt, plug in the car keys, and begin to drive off of Sally's Car Lot, waving goodbye to Old Sally as I drive down the roads back towards Wisconsin State University behind Caitlin's car.
After we get back to Wisconsin State University, We watch 27 Dresses, Bridget Jones's Diary, The Notebook, and The Longest Ride with popcorn and a couple of Pepsi sodas, we laugh, cringe, and cry uncontrollably and endlessly.
Then, all of sudden there's a knock at the door and it makes me jump. "Mel, calm down it's not a serial killer at the door knocking, it's probably Justin." Bailey says, laughing her head off. "Whatever, Bailey. I knew that." I lie, smiling. Caitlin rolls her eyes and I jump up and walk over to the door slowly. I open it and Justin is standing at the door with a wide smile and small beads of sweat dripping from his forehead. "Hello ladies." Justin says. Caitlin and Bailey wave friendly and smile beautifully.
"You ready to go, Mel?" He asks. "Yea, let's go, Justin." I say. I wave goodbye to Bailey and Caitlin and shut the door behind me as I walk out into the hallway with Justin. We make small talk as we walk through the hallway and out into the outside. It is almost dark, I can see the sun going down and the air is colder than ever. As Justin slowly pulls out his car keys, I snatch them from him and as a puzzled look flashes on his face I say, "You don't have to drive me everywhere, Justin. I want to drive some places too sometimes. Today is the day that I will start because I got a car!!!"
"Oh, ok, cool. Let's go." He says, snatching the car keys out of my hand quickly and stashing them back into his pockets. We walk into the parking lot and I grab my car keys out, unlocking the car doors quickly. We both jump in quickly and we drive down the streets slowly of downtown Wisconsin.

As I drive down the dark streets of downtown Wisconsin, Justin gives me directions to The Fall Festival. "Guess what is coming up?" I ask, excitedly. "Um...I guess Halloween." He says, smiling. "Nope. It's my birthday. Tomorrow." I say, proudly and happily. "Wow. Fuck. I gotta get you a birthday gift." He says. "It's ok, you don't have to, Justin." I say, calmly. " I insist." He says, quickly. I nod and after Justin gives me one last more direction, I pull into a large park called Wisconsin Park and into a parking lot, parking my car.
"Is this where The Fall Festival is taking place?" I ask, curiously. "Yes." He says, smiling and jumps out of the passenger seat of my car and onto the concrete. I grab my car keys and stash it in my back pocket and jump out of my car, locking it. I and Justin walk over to a huge crowd of people dancing to music. It is dark outside but, the lights of The Fall Festival light up the sky and outside perfectly.
I see a huge stage with a band playing music and a couple of snack stands. As we walk closer and closer towards the large crowd, the music gets near and near, the music is calm, angelic, and soft. "Do you want to dance, Mel?" Justin asks, smiling with his hand out. I'm not much of a dancer, but, for Justin, I will. I will dance, I think to myself. "Yes, I would love to. But, I'm no good dancer." I say, sadly.
"It doesn't matter If your a bad dancer or a good dance, I just want to dance with you." He says, softly.
He grabs me by my small wrist and we begin to dance, I wrap my small arms around his board shoulders and we swing slowly back and forth romantically. He smells like honey and I begin to forget about everything and dance with Justin. The music switches from calm folk music to high-energy EDM/Dubstep music, we begin to jump up and down, pumping up our fists in the air.
The wind blows through my hair as I jump up and down laughing and smiling along with Justin. The EDM/Dubstep music dies down slowly and then, comes slow, romantic, and beautiful music. We stare into each otter eyes and he pulls me closer, with his strong and long arms wrapped around my small hourglass waist, we dance slowly.
I lay my head on his chest as we dance slowly in a large field along with the rest of the people. The wind blows slowly, the wind is whistling. "Don't let go of me." I say, softly sounding almost like a whisper. "I wasn't planning to." He says, softly with a wide smile. I look up, stare into his hazel brown eyes, and lock lips with him slowly with passion. His lips are soft and warm, they taste like honey. And once again, I'm kissing Justin under the moonlight with the wind blowing, the music playing, and my heart skipping beat after beat.
