Chapter 54
The Interview & The Job
The afternoon rolls around and I am lying across my bed on I and Caitlin's dorm on my stomach reading Jane Eyre. I haven't heard a word from Justin since he left earlier that morning and I'm starting to get worried, hopeless, and quite paranoid.
Where could Justin be?, I ask myself.
I have to stop worrying about Justin because I'm not his girlfriend and weren't even a couple, I need to find something else to do to keep Justin off my mind and out of my head, I think to myself.
All of sudden, an idea quickly pops into my head and a smile appears on my face quickly. I sit Jane Eyre down and grab ahold of my iPhone fast. I should call Studio 90 Black, because I need a job, who am I kidding I need a great distraction from my crazy beautiful life and Justin, I think to myself.
I dial their number and patiently wait for someone to pick up the phone. Finally on the seventh ring, someone picks up.
"Hello?" I say, happily. The excitement and charisma in clear in my soft voice. "Hello, This Is The Studio 90 Black, Where Music Is What Feelings Sound Like." A chirpy, bubbly female voice says.
"Hi, I was wondering are you guys hiring interns?" I ask, curiously and hopefully. "Yes, we actually are." The bubbly lady says.
"I would like to know if I could be an intern at Studio 90 Black?" I ask, softly. "Yes you may, but, before you can get the job. We will need to interview you first." She tells me. "What time are you free to be interviewed?" She asks.
"Right now will be fine!" I exclaimed, without thinking. "Wow. Well, get down here and come get your job." She demands, encouragingly. "Ok, I'll be coming soon." I assure, then I hang up.
I begin to jump up on my bed and do my happy dance in my grey sweat pants, funky colored socks, and my dark green Wisconsin State University sweater. I can't believe I got a job now!!! I'm so happy!, I think to myself.
Well, Mel maybe you should stop jumping up and down on your bed and get ready for your interview, My subconscious suggests.
For once, I listen to my subconscious and jump off of my bed, landing on the hardware floor on my feet. I snatch open the drawer of my nightstand and begin to dig through my folded and clean clothes.
I grab a white collared T-shirt, black tight miniskirt, and a pair of black strapless high heels along with white silk bra and panties.
After I fold my clothes and lye them across my bed neatly, I grab my bathroom necessities and head down to The Co-Ed Showers to take a quick and satisfying hot shower.
.......
After I dry myself and my hair off and blow dry my hair, I quickly get dress, tucking in my white collared shirt and pinning my hair into an elegant bun. I apply a small amount of mascara to my long eyelashes and I put my red lipstick on.
I text Cole for the information and directions on how to get to Studio 90 Black and he quickly replies back with the directions.
I grab my ahold of my black cardigan sweater, my iPhone, white earbuds, and iPod quickly. Suddenly, my phone begins to beep loudly. Who could be calling me right now?, I ask myself.
Unexpectedly, Ethan's caller ID appears on the front screen of my iPhone. I sigh frustratedly and start to bite on my lower lip angrily.
Why is Ethan calling me? I told him I didn't want to see him again, were done, it's done, I think to myself.
I let my phone ring until it goes straight to voicemail. I run out the door into the hallway and outside in the freezing cold and humid weather on a Saturday afternoon.
........
I drive down the busy and overcrowded highway of downtown Wisconsin towards Milwaukee. I just noticed Milwaukee is so far from downtown Wisconsin and Wisconsin State University, I think to myself.
The sky turns a perfect and clear dark blue and bright yellow sun is hiding behind the dark grey clouds. A flock of birds and doves fly across the sky beautifully together. A quiet drizzle begins to slowly pour down from the sky.
A few moments later after getting out of that Milwaukee bad traffic jam, I speed through the streets with the directions of Studio 90 Black on my GPS.
The rain has stopped and now it is freezing cold and windy weather taking over.
Finally, I get to a small building with a white and black neon sign that reads: Studio 90 Black. I park my car in the empty parking lot and I jump out of my car. With my black cardigan sweater and iPhone, I walk across the parking lot over to the glass doors of the Studio 90 Black building.
Inside of Studio 90 Black, it is beautiful and modernly perfect. Portraits of Halsey, The 1975, The Neighborhood, Panic! At The Disco, and Marina and The Diamonds take over the white walls. A young lady with long beautiful dark brown hair sits behind a light brown wooden desk with earbuds in her ear.
I walk over to her and knock softly on the top of wooden desk. The young lady snatches out her earbuds and sits them aside. "Hey, You must be Melissa?" The young lady asks, curiously. "Um....yes, yes I am. I came here to get interviewed in order to get a job here as an intern." I explain. "I'm Blake, Mr. Kelly will see you now." Blake says, happily. We shake hands quickly and excitedly.
"Ok." I say simply. I walk away from Blake's front desk and down to a light hallway with one door. The door is closed shut and tight. I twist the knob open and I stumble through, landing on my knees.
I can't believe I just clumsily collapsed onto the floor on my day of get interviewed ugh!, I think to myself.
I pick up my iPhone and my black cardigan sweater and stand up professionally.
Inside of this closed door, lyes a large dark brown desk, two chairs, and a short girl with platinum blonde pixie hair.
The small office smells like wet wood and cat liter and I try not cringe and crinkle my small and narrow nose at the treacherous smell.
"Hey, it's Melissa isn't it?" The short girl asks, curiously. Her eyes are beautifully dark brown, her nose is completely small, and her skin pale.
"Yes, but, I like to be called Mel, please." I remark, sweetly. "I'm Zara, Well, let's get down to business, Mel." Zara suggests, pointing to a chair.
My chocolate dark brown eyes follow her sight and I quickly take her a seat.
"Mel, do you have any experience with music?" Zara asks. "Yes, actually. I have been singing since seven and I have started writing my own songs and poems at the age of fourteen. I am currently a English major at Wisconsin State University and I study music and art." I explain.
"That is very impressive, Mel. When could you start your job as an intern here?" She says, nicely.
"Um...I guess....I really....Um..." I stutter, stupidly, feeling lost and long for words. "Maybe this Sunday, will that be fine with you?" Zara asks.
"Yes. Yes it will." I say, politely. "Alright then, well welcome to the Studio 90 Black family, sister." Zara exclaims, standing up and holding her short arm out for me to shake her hand.
I smile and stand up out of my chair and shake her hand firmly and excitedly.
........
As I make my way out of the doors of Studio 90 Black building, my phone begins to ring uncontrollably and loudly. Who could this be I swear of it is Ethan I will....
I snatched out of my deep and intriguing thoughts when a text from Justin pops on the home screen of my iPhone.
I tap it and open the text to read it:
Mel, it's Justin and I am going to give you some certain and good instructions tonight for our dinner date with each text I send you.
First, I want you to drive to my foster parent's house.
Bizzle
I smile beautifully and quickly hop into my car and drive back down the empty streets of Milwaukee.
(Sorry for slow updates but, as i said my internet is in and out during these last couple of days. I'm also sorry for leaving this chapter on a cliffhanger but #sorrynotsorry)
