Chapter 2
The Basketball Game
We back to The Dorms in time to take a quick shower and get dress for tonight's basketball game in The Gym.
Caitlin begins to flat-iron her shiny and beautiful blonde hair and pull it back into a simple ponytail with a dark blue ribbon while Bailey is applying mascara to her long lashes in Caitlin's tiny mirror wall. I open the drawers of my nightstand and begin to search for an outfit to wear.
I pick out a black matching lace bra and panties with dark orange cashmere sweater, a beige colored scarf, tight dark blue blue jeans, and a pair of light brown Uggs white furry boots. I sit my outfit down and grab my bag of bathroom necessities, and begin to walk over to the dorm room door.
"I'm going to take a quick shower, guys." I announced, quickly. Bailey says, "Ok cool. The Co-Ed Showers are down the hall. But, don't take long we have to be at the basketball game at 8." And Caitlin just nods slowly. "Ok, I won't. Bye." I say, opening the dorm door and walking out into the hallway of The Dorms. I walk down the halls towards The Co-Ed Showers and suddenly as I get closer and closer to The Co-Ed Showers I hear a smooth and velvet voice singing beautifully and handsomely. Whoever that is sounds amazing, I think to myself.
I smile at the sound of the amazing singing voice and blush bright pink.
The beautifully and handsomely singing voice stops and the shower water stops. I panic and begin to bite my lower lip nervously, and my hands begin to sweat so I wipe them on the back of my tight dark blue jeans. I hear large footsteps coming out of The Co-Ed Showers and coming towards me slowly. I'm face to face with a tall guy with a white towel wrapped around his waist dripping wet from head to toe. His neck, arms, legs, hands, and neck is covered with countless tattoos of sayings, words, and even a Jesus Christ cross. That tall guy is Justin Bieber.
I and Justin stand inches away from each other, inches away from each other lips and faces. "Hey, Mel B." Justin says, happily with a warm smile across his handsome face. "Hey, Justin." I say, smiling. At the exact same time, our cheeks both flush a mixture of red and pink, feeling embarrassed and awkward. "What are you doing here in The Co-Ed Showers? Aren't you supposed to be getting ready for tonight's basketball game." I ask, curiously and crossing my arms over my chest quickly. "Well, I didn't want to take a shower in The Gym showers and I had to grab something from my dorm down the hall." Justin explains, quickly. I nod and smile from ear to ear." Are you going to tonight's basketball game?" He asks, curiously with a smirk.
"Yes. Yes I am, actually." I say, happily.
"How many tattoos do you have?" I ask curiously. "Currently. I have a total of 56." He says, smiling and licking his lips, staring deeply into my eyes.
Justin nods and smiles, and says, "Well, I have to go. Can't wait to see you at the game tonight, Mel B." Justin says. "Ok see you later and good luck in tonight's game, Justin" I say. "Thanks." Justin says, walking past me out in the hallway of The Dorms and down the hallway towards his dorm.
I walk into the The Co-Ed Showers with my bathroom necessities and my heart is skipping beats and my cheeks are still blushing bright pink.
I strip naked, out of my dark blue jeans, dark crimson red cashmere sweater, red lace matching panties and bra, red Converse, and black scarf, hanging them up. I turn on the hot water on the shower and the hot water splashes onto my face and all over my body. The hot water trickles down my back and I let out a giggle.
I grab my Strawberry Shortcake body wash and white rag and pour of gob of it on my rag and begin to scrub myself clean from head to toe.
I grab my bright pink razor and begin to slowly shave my legs, removing the stumble that has grown over the two past weeks. I grab shampoo and
conditioner and begin to wash my long and beautiful dark brown chestnut hair quickly. After taking a quick shower, in a towel wrapped around my small yet curvy dripping wet body and a towel wrapped around my wet hair, I run out into the hallways of The Dorms and into the dorm of I and Caitlin's.
Caitlin and Bailey are sitting down on Caitlin's small bed with a bag of McDonald's burgers, french fries, and three cups of Pepsi, eating burgers. My stomach grumbles angrily and Caitlin and Bailey both turn around l and look at me quickly and then both laugh a little bit. "Hey, when you were taking a shower in The Co-Ed Showers, Caitlin drove me up to McDonald's. Are you hungry?!" Bailey asks, curiously and politely.
"Yes. Just let me get dress first." I say, quickly. After I lotion myself down, put on deodorant, and blow dry my hair with Caitlin's blow-dryer, U quickly get dress into my outfit and braid my hair into a fishtail. I walk over and sit down beside Caitlin and Bailey on Caitlin's small yet comfortable bed. Bailey hands me a burger, a large fry, and a soda and Caitlin and Bailey begin to curiously ask me questions about myself and my entire life.
After eating our McDonald's food, I, Caitlin, and Bailey head out to The Gym for tonight's basketball game and we lock up our dorm before we leave and stash my golden dorm key into my back pocket quickly. We through the quiet hallway of The Dorms and open the glass doors, walking out onto the campus of Wisconsin State University.
The campus of Wisconsin State University is completely abandoned and empty. The air is warm and humid, almost hot. We walk towards The Gym slowly side by side together.
I open the glass doors of The Gym to find a large crowd of people in the bleachers of The Gym waving, cheering, laughing, smiling, crying, and having a good time.
As we walk in together slowly towards the bleachers of The Gym, Caitlin quickly turns to face I and Bailey and says cheerfully, " I gotta go cheer with my cheerleading squad. I'll see you guys after the game. Bye!" Before I or Bailey could say "Goodbye" or wave, Caitlin is running across the gym towards a group of girls in cheerleading uniform laughing.
I and Bailey find a spot in the overcrowded bleachers next to a tall guy with thick framed glasses, pale skin, and platinum blonde hair. Two basketball teams are at each end of the basketball court in huddles with their coaches. The basketball game is just starting Ugh! I hate being late for events, I think to myself.
"Tyler Jacobs, Hey!" Bailey says, excitedly flat toned. The platinum blonde guy with the thick framed glasses turns around toward I and Bailey and begins to smile brightly.
"Bailey Johnson, Hey you guys made it!" Tyler says, happily. "Of course, we did." Bailey says. "Tyler, this is Caitlin's new roommate, Melissa Brown. But, you can call her Mel B." She says. "Hi" I say, happily with a smile. "Mel, this is Caitlin's older brother, Tyler." Bailey says. "That's cool." I say.
I, Bailey, and Tyler take our seats and the basketball game begins. "Welcome To Sunday Night Basketball!" An announcer says, holding a microphone in his hand. The crowd in the bleachers go wild like there at an One Direction concert or something. Wow, Basketball must be seen as a thing here at WSU, I think to myself. "It's September the eighteenth. And tonight we got Virginia College's Cavaliers versus Wisconsin State University's Badgers. Let the game begin!!!" The announcer says. And, the basketball game soon begins with Virginia College's Cavaliers taking the lead with 24 points in the first and second quarter of the basketball game.
"Who is he?? Who is that?!" I ask, curiously and rudely pointing at a sweaty guy dribbling a basketball at a fast pace with countless tattoos, a creative mixture of dirty and platinum blonde hair, and a determined and hopeful look on his handsome face. That guy is Justin Bieber. "That is Justin Bieber. His the team captain and basketball star of Wisconsin State University's Badgers. His dad is the basketball coach and he is really adventurous and funny." Tyler says, smiling a bit. He waves towards me with a warm smile, and I wave back, and then runs down the basketball court dribbling the basketball fast.
By the third quarter of the basketball game, Wisconsin State University's Badgers have caught up quickly with 50 points thanks to Justin's several slam dunks and successful three pointers. Caitlin and her cheerleading squad us cheering loud and doing splits, back flips, and dances. In the middle of the basketball game, Virginia State University's Cavaliers call a time out so I, Caitlin, Tyler, and Bailey go over to the snack shack stand to grab four cans of Pepsi and four bags of extra hot melted butter popcorn.
Caitlin gives Tyler, I, and Bailey a hug before she runs back over to her cheerleading squad with her mouth full of popcorn. We find a same spot back in the bleachers and game begins again quickly before my eyes. It is the final hour, It is the fourth quarter and there needs to be a tiebreaker because both Wisconsin State University's Badgers and Virginia College's Cavaliers have 70 points and whoever scores another point wins the basketball game.
I usually hate sports especially basketball but, right now I like it, I think to myself. I'm on the edge of my seat, uncontrollably biting my lower lip and my chocolate dark brown eyes are glued to the basketball game. Virginia College's Cavaliers basketball went out of bounce, so Wisconsin State University's Badgers gets the basketball.
A tall guy with shaggy dark brown hair quickly passes the basketball to Justin and Justin, dribbling the basketball runs down the basketball court toward basketball net to shoot it. Justin jumps incredibly and successfully jumps up high to the net and slams dunk the basketball and hangs onto the rim for a second and then jumps down.
The buzzer goes off and the crowd goes wild, shouting, screaming, yelling, crying, laughing, and dancing loud enough to bust my eardrum. Justin is smiling and is gifted with hand fives from his teammates, the basketball coach (which is his dad), and many more people. After a few minutes of cheering and clapping, people empty The Gym including Justin and his teammates, I, Caitlin, Bailey, and Tyler and walk outside onto campus towards The Dorms.
But, suddenly a hand pulls me away from Caitlin, Tyler, and Bailey quickly before my eyes. It is Justin Bieber. "You came, Mel." Justin says, happily.
"Yea, I said I would, Justin. Remember." I say, smiling and laughing a little bit. We exchange phone numbers quickly and begin to chitchat. "Congrats, on tonight's win." I say, happily. "Thanks." He says. "We should hang out sometime. How about tomorrow after classes. I'll come by your dorm room to come and get you." He says.
"Okay, I can't wait." I say, excitedly. "Me either." He adds. "Well, I gotta go with my teammates their taking me to Hooters to celebrate our win." Justin says. "Bye, Justin, have fun." I say, waving goodbye.
He waves back and smile brightly, and then he joins his teammates and his gone. The sun is gone and bright stars have begun to light up the dark midnight sky, Everyone else heads into The Dorms getting ready for tomorrow, getting ready for class. I, Caitlin, Tyler, and Bailey, side by side together walk in The Dorms. Tyler and Bailey says "Goodbye," and gives I and Caitlin a hug, walking into their individual dorms.
After I and Caitlin get settled in from taking quick showers and dressing into crop tops and sweatpants, Caitlin curls up in her small bed with a can of Pepsi and is watching 27 Dresses and I climb into my bed with my Apple laptop and plug my earbuds into my iPhone 6S, and a Lana Del Rey song begins to play.
I open my Apple laptop, press the power button, and watch it come to life slowly. Almost forgot to email my mom today, I think to myself. I begin to write an email to my mom while I listen to a Lana Del Rey song:
Hey, mom it's Melissa and my first day at college, at Wisconsin State University was pretty good. My roommate, Caitlin, is a perky and energetic cheerleader and her best friend, Bailey, is a sarcastic, funny hipster. We attend at basketball game later after they gave a short tour of the college. I really miss you, dad, and my four sisters. I love you, good night mom
Yours Truly,
Melissa Brown
P.S. My 18th birthday is in three days!
After sending that email to my mom, I power off my Apple laptop, shut it down, and slide it under my bed. I take out my earbuds and sit my iPhone 6S on my nightstand. I grab my tiny sliver alarm clock and set my time at 6:30 for me to wake up for the day I have dreaded. Outside, it begins to rain, rain hard like cats and dogs. I cry myself to sleep about missing my family and life back home in Creekside Falls listening the sound if the hard rain outside.
