Day one

    IT WAS SAFE TO SAY CASSIA WAS NERVOUS FOR her first day at her new school. She knew a lot of people from the valley, but she had changed so she knew everyone else was bound to also. Cass knew that time wouldn't simply stand still for her, even if she wanted it to.

"So, all that's left is getting you into class." The counselor spoke, making the Rinaldi girl look up towards the woman with a light smile.

She pushed into the classroom that was first on the girls schedule loudly, making the whole class turn their attention to them. The woman passed the teacher a note, detailing all of Cassia's information as the girl awkwardly looked down at her feet. Being the new kid was one of the worst things ever, everybody staring at you, wondering who you are.

Sizing you up.

"Okay, class. It looks like we have a new student." The teacher read the note as the school's counselor left the room. "This is Cassia Rinaldi, and she'll be joining us the rest of the year. How about we give her a warm welcome?"

The room was entirely silent, nobody uttering even a word.

"I'm just going to sit—" Cassie awkwardly held onto her book bag strap, making her way to an empty seat by the ac.

Her arms shivered as she rubbed them, trying to gain some type of warmth. The Rinaldi girl glanced to the side for a moment, feeling a pair of eyes on her. Never in a million years would she imagine seeing the pair of blue ones that met hers as she did.

"Sa—" Cass was cut off by the sound of the teacher's voice once again, the woman reprimanding her class for not being nicer.

Cassia didn't mind her introduction to them, it was awkward, yeah, but, at least she didn't have to go through more than a few seconds of torture.

The next thirty minutes went by dreadfully slow. Cassie didn't not like her teacher but, she also wasn't the biggest fan. English was always her favorite subject but this year she felt like it would be different. Not only because of who was teaching, but because the all around atmosphere.

and yes, she paid attention to those things.

The bell rang just as the Rinaldi girl was about to dose off into a nap. She jumped slightly, wiping a small line of drool off her face before scrambling to her feet. The teen grabbed her bag and swung it over her shoulder, a small thump sounding off as she did.

"Ouch." Someone uttered behind Cassia, the girl turning on her heel to see her old friend holding her arm.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to." Cass practically cringed at their reintroduction, knowing this was the absolute worst way to get reacquainted. "Does it like... hurt?"

There was a pause before Sam erupted into a large smile, inching forward to provide the other girl with a hug.

"It's been so long and you just disappeared." The Larusso girl explained dramatically, pulling the other teen close. "I was joking by the way, you barely hit me."

Cassia laughed awkwardly, hugging Samantha back.

"You know me, full of surprises." She replied awkwardly, patting the other girls back. "I honestly didn't think you'd remember me without the glasses and the princess leia hair."

"Of course I do." Sam pulled back, the two girls slowly inching their way out of the classroom. "Those glasses were cute on you by the way, I don't know stopped wearing them."

"Some of the girls on my old team told me they were making them look bad." Cassia admitted with an awkward laugh, rubbing the back of her neck. "I just got really tired of people talking about them."

The Rinaldi girl felt a slight blush on her cheeks, nobody having commented on how cute she was before.

"Well, you shouldn't have listened to them." Sam shrugged lightly, her eyes meeting the other girls as they stopped in the hallway. "We should hang out sometime, it'll be fun. See you around?"

"Hang out? Oh yeah—... for sure." Cassia watched as the Larusso girl started to walk off, sending her a light wave. "It's a date!"

She cringed at her words, planting her hand on her face.

"God, I suck."
