Sawyer stood in front of the mirror staring at herself one last time before she had to leave. The night before she helped Lexi get all the final things ready for her play while they got ice cream and hung out at Fezcos.

Sawyer told Lexi that she'd come early to help her if she needed any. She was wearing light denim flared jeans with a white top. Her hair was in a slick back high bun that had a few loose curls, along with her baby hairs done.

She took a deep breath and walked out of the restroom. Ashtray was waiting on the couch for her.

He stood up when she walked in the room. They locked eyes, admiring each other.

"Hey." Sawyer blinked. She couldn't help but notice how much more attractive Ashtray looked. He had a black skin tight shirt that hugged his body in all the right place, with fancy dress shoes and black dress pants.

"Hey." Ashtray breathed out, looking sawyer up and down. He didn't even try to hide his wondering eyes.

Sawyer glanced at the clock behind him, "we should get going now, I don't want Lexi to go into panic mode." She smiled.

Ashtray nodded and grabbed his keys off the table. Sawyer picked up the bouquet of roses off the table that she had got for Lexi.

Sawyer sat on the bleachers reading like she usually did at lunch. Ever since she started high school she realized that she liked her own company better than anyone else's.

In the corner of her eye she couldn't help but notice a very attractive boy pass by each time he ran around the track, doing laps. She heard about him from her friends and sister, but she personally had never met him. She tried to mind her business but every so often she couldn't help but watch him.

Her focus was back to finishing this book that she promised herself she should've already had finished reading the day before.

The boy loudly plopped down at the bottom of the bleechers, chugging his water bottle. Sawyers focus was now on him. She watched him carefully as he gulped the water down before getting up and taking the bottle to the trash.

As he was walking back he locked eye contact with her and she quickly looked back down at her book.

Fuck

Sawyer heard footsteps going up the bleachers. She kept her eyes glued to her book, but she couldn't seem to read a single word on the pages in front of her. Her mind went blank.

The similar loud plop sound was heard way closer than she had expected. The boy sat directly next to her.

Sawyer kept the book close to her face but slowly brought her eyes in the direction the boy was sitting.

He had his forearms rested on his thighs. His hair was wet from all the sweat and he had no shirt on. Sawyer quickly caught herself staring down at his abs that were moving up and down. Up and down. Due to his breathing patterns.

"You're friends with Troy right?" He suddenly asked.

"Uh... yeah, why?" Sawyer slowly brought the book down to her lap and closed it.

"Cool, Cool. So am I." The boy looked into Sawyers eyes, "He's my best friend." He broke a smile. Sawyers eyes batted down to his smile. Gosh that smile. She couldn't help but smile back at him.

"Really? I don't think I've ever heard him talk about you before." That was a lie. All Troy did was talk about his best friend Ashtray and that stupid game Fortnite they played together.

The, Ashtray knitted his eyebrows together slowly, "he hasn't talked about me.. ever?"

Sawyer felt her self turn red. She looked away from him, trying to hide her smile with her forearm.

For some reason just the few minutes of being in this boys presence made the smile never leave her face.

Ashtray frowned, but realized she was lying. The smile quickly came back to his face and he chuckled, "Oh."

This boy had to be one of the most attractive boys sawyer had ever crossed pasts with. His smile was magnificent. Even though he looked like a complete asshole for some reason all the bad assumptions she had about this boy disappeared.

"What are you doing out here anyways? It's lunch." Ashtray questioned.

"Enjoying this weather while it lasts. Soon it will be way too cold to enjoy being outside." Sawyer explained to which Ashtray nodded understandably.

Ashtray liked the way Sawyer spoke. Her voice was low and soft. She was just liked Troy described her to be. She was timid and quiet. She was interesting, he didn't know anyone that voluntarily enjoyed being at lunch alone besides himself. She was also way more attractive than Troy had told him.

"I agree. The weather won't be like this forever. That's why I'm out here running before it gets unbearable out here." Ashtrays eyes lit up at the sight of Sawyer blushing at him, "it's cloudy but not too cloudy but the suns out just enough to make it warm, and the no wind is nice."

"What's her play even about?" Ashtray pulled into a parking spot.

"Life. Everything. We're in it I'm pretty sure." Sawyers eyes blazed with excitement. Sawyer had never actually read the full script for the play. Lexi wouldn't let her. She had somewhat of an idea of it but she didn't really realize how realistic it would actually be.

"Why the hell are we in her play." Ashtray asked with attitude. He leaned his seat back and brought his feet up, resting them on sawyers thighs.

"Because it's called life Ash. Our life." She glared down at him.

"Oh." Ashtray shrugged, "why us though."

Sawyers harsh glare stayed on Ashtray, "seriously."

"What? I'm just sayin. I don't need anything embarrassing being broadcasted in front of the whole school."

Sawyer just rolled her eyes. She took Ashtrays phone out from his pocket and unlocked it with her face. She smirked down at him.

"What? You thought I took it off?" He questioned.

"No, I just like that it's on here." Sawyer opened Apple Music, "country?" The smirk on her face only grew wider.

Ashtray playfully rolled his eyes. Sawyer was the only reason that Ashtray got into listening to country. Secretly he liked it but only Sawyer knew that.

Ashtrays expression changed. He smirked back, "chasin you? Morgan Wallen."

Sawyers eyes lit up and she quickly typed in the song, playing it.

Ashtray sat infront of his gaming system yelling at the top of his lungs. He slammed his headphones on the desk and stood up, hashing pushing his chair.

Sawyer watched from his bed. The whole desk shook when he slammed it, "You need to calm down. It's just a game."

"A game I fuckin put money on." Ashtray huffed out.

"That's your first mistake. Why would you put money on a game, we are not kids." Sawyer frowned.

"Not like coins Lee. I bet money and shit, with other people." Ashtray explained. He still had a cold expression. He pranced around his room like a raging toddler.

Sawyer started playing Sam Hunt on her phone speakers. Ashtray quickly stood still and shot her a harsh glance.

"The fuck." His eye brows knitted together. He crawled onto his bed and laid on his side watching as Sawyer started to playfully sing the song.

"You need to learn all of my favorite songs. And study them." She stopped singing for a second.

"This shit is horrible." Ashtray shook his head disapproving.

Sawyers face fell. She started to fake pout.

Ashtray placed his hand on her shoulder and threw his head back, "come onnnn. I can put you on some unreleased fire shit that my homies dropped on soundcloud."

"No one is interested in that crap." Sawyer paused her music, "I'll play one, that I know you know because I've played it and seen you mumble it once."

Ashtray scoffed. He did not sing. What she talking about. He narrowed his eyes.

Sawyer turned on Thinkin bout me by Morgan Wallen, "don't worry this one is actually my favorite." She winked.

"I do not sing- Oh." Ashtray stopped once he realized that he indeed did lowkey like this song.

Sawyer stood up on his bed and peered down into his eyes. She had her phone up to her mouth, holding it like it was a microphone and just sang.

Ashtray tried to hide the smile on his face, but he couldn't. Sawyer tried to pull him up and he finally let her.

He stood in place with a smug look on his face as sawyer kept up her concert.

Finally when the end of the song was nearing and he started to sing it with her. Sawyers face lit up.
