Chapter 15
Chapter 15
●●●
When Taehyung mouthed "You can do it." Jungkook finally got what he was trying to say.
Not that it made it any less ridiculous when Taehyung left the room.
"What did you do to him?" Jimin asked, seemingly just as confused.
Jungkook shook his head. "Nothing. I think he might have eaten something bad.. maybe while he was cooking." He tried to look as nonchalant as he could as he shrugged his shoulders.
"Okay?" Jimin still seemed a little confused but didn't ask. Instead he sat down next to Jungkook.
And even though there really shouldn't have been any pressure... since Jungkook didn't have to do this.
Just because Taehyung had said he should, that didn't mean he had to.
Nevertheless Jungkook felt nervous. Hyper aware of Jimin's presence next to him.
His breathing.
His small movements.
The leg touching Jungkook's.
Everything was loud and intense.
Just like Jungkook's heartbeat.
Jungkook's heart was racing. So loudly he could hear it in his ears.
Part of him was scared that maybe even Jimin could hear it. After all he was sitting right there... it would have been so easy to reach out and grab his hand... he'd just have to grab it and...
"Jungkook? Everything okay?"
Jungkook startled when Jimin was the one to reach out and take his hand, easily interlacing their fingers.
Not sure what to say he nodded. This was it. Now or never... he could just get it out and tell Jimin.
Taehyung was right. It wouldn't go wrong... because even given that Jimin wouldn't return his feelings, at least Jungkook could get them off his chest.
And it really couldn't be much of a surprise to Jimin that the boy he kept kissing had feelings for him.
Nevertheless he hesitated a little. Because this was fucking scary and part of him was terrified at the thought of somehow ruining his relationship with Jimin.
"I need to tell you something." This was it. There was no going back now. Unless he quickly came up with an excuse.
But he didn't want to. He just had to get those damn feelings off his chest, if only so he could move on.
Maybe find someone who was actually compatible with his biology. He doubted it would happen soon, but certainly not when his heart and head were still with Jimin.
"Okay?" Jimin's voice was soft. Almost reassuring as he skidded a little closer, their fingers interlaced.
If someone didn't know them they probably would have assumed they were already dating.
Jungkook sighed.
"I'm not telling you this because I'm expecting anything. This is merely because I want to get it out of my system and I know this wouldn't lead anywhere anyways..."
"Jungkook... just say what you want to say."
Jimin, who had been looking at him with a raised eyebrow during his whole ramble, squeezed his hand softly.
"Just say it."
Jungkook wondered whether Jimin would encourage him to do the same if he knew what this was about.
An omega crushing on another omega was rare. He probably didn't even consider it an option... maybe Jungkook should have just backed out and...
"Jungkook. I can see the gears in your head turning. Just say it." There were two hands carefully running over his cheeks before turning Jungkook's head in Jimin's direction again.
The omega's gaze was soft as he rubbed Jungkook's cheek with his thumb.
Jungkook couldn't help but stare a little. Jimin looked absolutely stunning this up close.
His soft features, the soft makeup and glossy lips. In many ways he was the perfect omega. Soft, delicate, pretty, but at the same time he was stronger than anyone Jungkook knew.
"I..." Jungkook had to swallow hard, the knot in his throat tightening when Jimin looked at him like that. With so much affection.
He was scared of losing this. If things went wrong Jimin would never look at him like this again.
"I like you... more than a friend."
Jungkook had to swallow again. He kept choking up. He was so scared. Scared of being rejected by the person that meant everything to him.
Still, he forced himself to continue. "I love you. As a friend, but also... more than I would love a friend."
He knew he was rambling.
Going on and on about friends, but he was fucking nervous and all of this... he really did love Jimin as a friend. He loved having Jimin around. Hanging out. Talking.
But he also wanted to kiss Jimin, cuddle up to him and scent him... he wanted Jimin to hold him and to love him.
"I know you have Taehyung and I'm not trying to cause any trouble. Taehyung is the sweetest alpha I have ever met and he really deserves you more than anything. I know this isn't possible, but I really just wanted to get my feelings out there."
Before Jimin could say anything he continued.
"We're both omegas and omegas don't really date and I really just want to get this off my chest. Also Taehyung really urged me to finally confess to you because I accidentally told him about it when I was drunk and now he's-"
"Jungkook." Jungkook could feel anxiety build up in his stomach. Jimin sounded annoyed. Oh god, he had made Jimin angry.
There was nothing he wished he could do more than to go back in time and not do this. Simply not confess to Jimin and at least keep their friendship intact.
"Please stop coming up with this whole narrative of how things are without even giving the other person a chance to say a word." Jimin sighed, placing his second hand on Jungkook's, squeezing softly.
Jungkook was confused. Jimin didn't look annoyed or awkward. More so hesitant, his leg whipping nervously.
"Because that narrative is stupid." Was Jimin avoiding to look him in the eyes? Instead he kept looking at their interlaced hands.
But then he finally looked up...
And Jungkook noticed the faintest blush on the other omega's cheeks.
"I love you too... more than friends."
Jungkook could feel butterflies all over his stomach as Jimin awkwardly smiled at him. His brain seemingly shut out anything else around him.
All he could focus on was Jimin's thumb drawing patterns onto the back of his hand and Jimin's soft breathing.
Jimin sighed softly but it didn't sound annoyed.
"When I started seeing Taehyung and things were getting more serious with him I..."
Jimin chuckled and the sound made another wave of warmth course through Jungkook's body.
"How do I say this..." Jimin was still tracing patterns.
"I had this condition for Taehyung. Because I knew it wouldn't be fair if I started dating him. Neither to him nor you."
Jimin smiled a little. "I told him that there was someone else who I cared for deeply... and even though I really liked Taehyung I told him that that person had been there first and would come first to me." Jungkook swallowed, listening curiously.
That was him, right?
Jimin was talking about him.
"I told him that I really care about him too and would love to try dating him... but under the condition that you're allowed a place in my heart too... and that if the situation ever came up, I'm allowed to pursue a relationship with you too."
Jungkook blinked... was Jimin serious?
"How did he react? I mean Taehyung? He's an alpha... shouldn't he absolutely hate the thought of sharing?"
Jimin giggled. "He absolutely hated it."
Jungkook nodded. He still couldn't fully comprehend Jimin saying he loved Jungkook too, that was just a little too much, so instead he focused on Taehyung.
"Why did he accept it?"
Jimin leaned back a little, staring at the ceiling.
"Firstly because I wasn't willing to date him otherwise and secondly... the fact that you're an omega and not another alpha made it easier too, I think." Jimin paused. "Also there was no guarantee either of us would ever confess so I think he kind of hoped for that."
Jungkook raised an eyebrow, thinking about ten minutes back. How keen Taehyung had seemed on getting Jungkook to confess.
"Why did he keep encouraging me to tell you then? I have messages on my phone from weeks ago where he tells me it's okay for me to confess and that I should do it."
Jimin smiled. "I mean, he obviously likes you at one hand... and overall, after getting to know you he seemed a lot more relaxed about the whole thing. I think not having an idea of who your rival in love is can be scary."
They were the same. Jungkook and Taehyung were the same it seemed.
Not knowing who Jimin kept seeing, him spending just as much time with them as with Jungkook had been scary.
But once that blank person had gotten a face... a personality, Jungkook had felt better.
He sat up straighter, his head spinning a little. With all the nervousness and excitement he had almost forgotten about the fact that he was still sick.
"When I started avoiding you... it was kind of for that reason." He cleared his throat.
"You suddenly spent so much time with someone else after it had always just been the two of us. I felt really threatened by the faceless alpha that kept stealing you from me and because it hurt so much and I was too scared to confess I ran instead."
Jungkook looked down at his legs, pressing his lips into a thin line. That time had been hell.
"I'm glad you came back to me." Jimin whispered, letting go of his hand, instead rubbing Jungkook's thigh.
Jungkook smiled, lifting his head again and another wave of dizziness hit.
"I think I should lie down again. I'm still not exactly in top form." He sighed and Jimin nodded, quickly getting up to give Jungkook space.
Jungkook laid down, expecting Jimin to maybe sit on the end of the sofa or something, but instead the omega climbed on top of him.
Jungkook felt Jimin's soothing scent wash over him when the omega buried his face in the crook of his neck and started scenting him.
"What happened at that party? Taehyung never told me because he said it was your story to tell."
Jungkook sighed. "I was acting a little pathetic."
Jimin giggled, moving up to press a kiss to Jungkook's cheek. "Tell me anyways. You know I won't judge you, right?"
A soft groan left Jungkook's lips. "It's embarrassing!"
"Come on." Jimin pressed another kiss to his cheek and then his nose.
Jungkook stared at Jimin. They still hadn't talked about what them both having feelings for each other meant... how things were going to continue.
But the fact that Jungkook wasn't alone in this was so reassuring by itself it didn't matter.
They would find a solution. For now they would just talk comfortably... about what had happened.
What had led up to this moment.
"During that time I distanced myself from you, I was miserable. Like, really miserable. I missed you so badly and I kept thinking about you... so after a few months I had a great idea of how to deal with it. Go party."
Jungkook chuckled, his tone already hinting that he knew perfectly well his oh so great idea hadn't been so great after all.
"It was awful. First I got drunk. Then I tried talking to people, which didn't work at all. Then I saw you having fun... and then I ended up crying in the bathroom."
Jungkook was more than glad that this was in the past. He was merely recalling past events... with Jimin in his arms, listening.
"Poor baby." Jimin muttered, rubbing Jungkook's chest, and Jungkook chuckled weakly.
"It wasn't a good night I'd say... at least until Tae showed up."
Jungkook closed his eyes as he continued talking. He was tired and Jimin's scent almost lulled him to sleep with how comforting it was.
"Tae had to use the bathroom and went into the stall next to mine and asked if everything was okay."
Jimin giggled. "He's really sweet, isn't he?"
Sighing softly Jungkook nodded. "He really is. Long story short, I ended up telling him about us without giving him a name and how another alpha had shown up and I had distanced myself... and he told me to go back to you."
"To talk to you and be honest about my feelings." Jungkook wrapped his arm around Jimin, pulling the boy closer. "He actually persuaded me to do it... before he even knew this was about you..."
Jimin pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Sounds like him."
"Then you showed up and you know the rest of the sob story." Jungkook chuckled, tilting his head to nuzzle at Jimin's neck.
"Yeah, I know the rest of the story." Jimin confirmed, leaning to the side to give Jungkook better access to his neck.
Jungkook slowly started scenting Jimin, sighing contentedly at the fact that Jimin's scent was all around him as well.
"Will we... also get together now?" Jungkook asked, a little unsure.
He still wasn't sure if, even when Taehyung had accepted that Jimin liked someone else, that meant they could date.
Jimin wrapped his small arms around Jungkook's waist, snuggling closer. "If you want... I'd love to."
Jungkook let the feeling of contentment wash over him. This was more than he had ever dared dreaming of.
Jimin could be his... he simply had to ask and Jimin would be his.
"Yeah... I'd want that... I'd love that."
