xi. christmas shopping

Tori was positive it was either beginner's luck, or Percy was really terrible on a broom.

Either way, Tori was on a roll. It was hard, having there only been one chaser, but she managed.

Mrs. Weasley, or Molly, was sitting on the sideline, announcing that Bill's team was up by ten. This caused Tori to glanced over at Charlie, who gestured her to keep playing.

A ball that was disguised as a bludger came racing towards Tori's head, who managed to duck in the mater of seconds.

"Sorry, Tori!" Fred called, grinning.

Percy came rushing towards Tori who managed to grab the quaffle. Tori panicked, seeing there was no way she would be able to throw it into the goal.

Percy came closer and closer and Tori launched the quaffle, soaring after it in case it didn't make it in. Surprisingly, it was close but just missed it.

Tori groaned, flying down to get it when Molly announced Charlie caught the snitch. Tori flew back up towards her team, who were hooting. "Nice one!" Charlie cheered, high-fiving Tori.

"Well, what did I miss?" A voice called, causing every single one of the Weasley children to almost jump off their broom and run to there father.

Tori lowered herself as she watched the family. When her father can home, there was no screaming or laughter, but a polite smile or a small greeting. Her father didn't wrap his arms around his children like they were the only thing in the world. Her mother didn't kiss her father with a smile, welcoming him home.

The Weasleys were very different.

Tori held onto her broom, thinking about this. It had always been that way with the Silver family. Always.

But Tori didn't know if she really liked it anymore.

When Mr. Weasley finished saying hello to his children he caught eye contact with Tori. "Oh, hello." He greeted, causing the family to turn in her direction.

"Hi," Tori replied, feeling anxious. "This is our friend Tori Silvers," Fred brought his father over to her, George following behind.

"Hi," Tori repeated. She noticed a moment of resentment in Mr. Weasley's face when he heard the name, Silvers. Tori remembered Fred tell her that his father also worked at the Ministry.

She figured Mr. Weasley didn't like her father. She didn't blame him.

"Silvers? You're Edward Silvers's daughter?"

Tori nodded slowly, drawing a weak smile. "I'm afraid so." There was a moment of silence. "You have a lovely home, Mr. Weasley." Tori quickly told him, feeling anxious.

Mr. Weasley looked at her for a minute and smiled a bit. "Thank you, Tori. Please, you can call me, Arthur."

Tori relaxed and thanked him. Arthur went over to his wife, kissed her on the cheek, and headed inside.

"God, that was so stressful," Tori mumbled, causing Fred to laugh. "It's my dad, he's not going to kick you out. If anything, he'll warm up to you."

"He better. I want you on my team often." Charlie popped in, taking all the brooms. "You're trying out for the team next year, right?"

"Me?" Tori asked him, unsure if he was actually talking to her. Charlie nodded eagerly.

"Not many people can shoot from a great length and make it close. That's raw talent."

"You think a second year could make the team?" Tori asked Charlie, who again nodded. "If a second-year has talent like that, I don't care."

"Most of the team is graduating this year anyway, leaving a ton of open spaces. Seriously, you should come and try out."

"I'll have to think about it since I don't know what I'll be doing..."

"What you'll be doing is still hanging with us," George interrupted, throwing his arm around Tori. Fred copied his brother, "And as your best friends, we know what's best for you."

"So, yes Charlie. Tori will, in fact, see you at tryouts next year."

"Brilliant." Charlie grinned, making his way inside with Ginny, who threw Tori a smirk.

"Seriously guys?" Tori looked at the twins, who both nodded. "Absolutely." They said together.

Tori chuckled and put her arms around both of their shoulders before the trio marched inside.

Christmas was only four days away, so the Weasleys went to Diagon Alley.

Tori was really loving the time she spent there. She played a little more quidditch with Charlie, who also told her a couple of things about dragons. (Which he was totally obsessed with.) Fred and George had played a couple of pranks on Percy, who hated them. Bill had been pretty nice to her, even telling her about Egypt and his job there.

Ron loved to show her his chocolate frog collection, and even show her around the house. (Her favorite spot was the clock with all their faces on the hands, she thought it was adorable.)

She had gotten pretty close with Ginny, who she was standing next to at that moment. Both of the girls had their faces close to the glass of the "Madam Primpernelle's Beautifying Potions" shop, staring into the display case of multiple makeups and potions.

"Ugh, this is boring." George's voice appeared behind them, causing the girls to roll their eyes. "If it's so boring, go somewhere else," Ginny told them, glancing back at the items on display.

"I want ice cream." Fred groaned, winking at Tori. "It's freezing." She tilted her head. The four had been bundled up tightly, but that didn't stop them from being cold.

Tori wrapped her Gryffindor scarf tighter around her, pushing one of her two braids out of her face. "Where's Mum?" Ginny asked her brothers, grabbing Tori's hand and following them down the street.

"She and Charlie are looking at some books." Fred shrugged, glancing at a passing shop. "Which is boring!" George agreed, making a fake snore.

Diagon Alley was crowded. People went in one store and out the next, looking for last-minute Christmas gifts. Tori was doing the same, and so far she only had a couple of quills for Percy and a new book on dragons for Charlie.

"You two don't mind, Georgie and I are going to Gambol and Japes," Fred told the two girls, who shrugged. "Alright, see ya!"

"What do you think I should get Bill?" Tori asked Ginny as they walked into another shop. "Well, I don't know." Ginny sighed. "I was going to get a book on curses, but he's a curse breaker, so he probably knows all of them." Tori chuckled, "Maybe we can buy him a nice hat."

Ten sickles later, Ginny and Tori walked out of the shop with a new bag for Bill. They decided they would give it to him together since Ginny picked it out and Tori paid for it.

Molly has found them, telling them that they were leaving soon. She glanced down at Tori's bags, "I've seen you girls have been busy."

"They're Christmas gifts," Tori told her. Molly tilted her head, "Oh you didn't need to buy gifts, especially since everything's so expensive right now."

"It's the least I can do, and I don't mind, it's my parent's money, not mine." Tori shrugged, smiling at Molly, who smiled back and sent them off.

At the end of the day, Tori had gifts for everyone. She had gotten a couple of chocolate frogs for Ron, who had shown her his collection multiple times, as well as two bags of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. She managed to sneak away from Ginny for a couple of minutes, giving her time to buy her a Gwenog Jones from the Holyhead Harpies poster, a person Ginny had talked about nonstop. She even got Molly a cookbook and Arthur a couple of sweets from the same shop as Ron's gifts.

Fred and George's gifts were the hardest. After a long time of wandering around Tori found them something. She decided to get them Dr. Filibuster's Fabulous Wet-Start, No-Heat Fireworks. Which both the twins and Lee have been talking about for months.

She really hoped they would like it.

bruh I hate Christmas shopping so much, I hate writing about it.
