lxix. dinner at the leaky cauldron
Tori didn't know how exactly Molly found out, but she was not happy.
Molly went nearly ballistic when she discovered Tori's constant moving from place to place pattern. Tori sat in the corner of the Molly and Arthur Weasley's room while Molly scolded her mercilessly.
"You were in and out for weeks! You told me you arrived here last week! Unbelievable!"
"Molly, I'm fifteen—"
"Exactly! You're fifteen! You're not an adult! You aren't even allowed to use magic outside of school! You should not be staying the Leaky Cauldron for a month! What if something happened to you?! What if you got injured! You're a child! And your parents! Oh, when I have a word with them— you're a fifteen-year-old girl— and they leave you at home alone!"
"I wasn't alone... I had my house elf... which I freed before I left..."
Arthur had to calm his wife down, or Tori wasn't sure if it would have stopped. She decided she was definitely not going to tell Molly about her one day in the Muggle world. "Why don't you go join the others?" Arthur suggested, and Tori was quick to comply. She rushed out of the room to bump into Fred and George, who were pretending they weren't listening against the door.
"So, ol' Mum was giving you a hard time?" George smirked once she caught them. They made their way down the stairs and towards the main part of The Leaky Cauldron. "I don't want to talk about it." She muttered, trying to shake the memory. She hated when Molly yelled at her.
They joined Percy and Harry at the table, where Percy was proudly showing off his new Head Boy badge. "Harry!" Fred shouted, elbowing Percy out of the way. "Simply splendid to see you, old boy—"
"Marvelous," George said, pushing Fred away and seized Harry's hand like he was a king. Percy scowled, glaring at the twins.
"Enough, you two," Molly called towards them. She seemed to be much calmer now, especially considering she wasn't red in the face. Arthur was right behind his wife, patting her on the back.
"Mum!" Fred jumped up, acting as he had just spotted her. "How corking to see you—"
"Enough of that. Harry, how nice to see you—"
"He's the favorite child. And he's not even her child!" Fred frowned, taking a seat next to Tori. "That used to be me." She sighed dramatically, grinning at the boy. Molly was showing off Percy's new accomplishment. "Second Head Boy in the family!" She gushed, pointing to the new badge on Percy's chest.
"And last," Fred muttered under his breath.
Molly immediately frowned, looking at her sons. "I don't doubt that. I noticed they haven't made you two prefects."
George gave a disgusted look. "What do we want to be prefects for? It takes the fun out of life."
Ginny giggled.
"You want to set a better example for your sister!" Molly snapped.
"Ginny's got other brothers to set her an example, Mother," said Percy loftily. "I'm going up to change for dinner..."
He disappeared and George heaved a sigh.
"We tried to shut him in a pyramid," he told Harry. "But Mum spotted us."
The dinner was fantastic. Tom the innkeeper put three tables together in the parlor, and the seven Weasleys, Harry, Hermione, and Tori ate their way through five delicious courses.
"How're we getting to King's Cross tomorrow, Dad?" Fred asked as they dug into a sumptuous chocolate pudding.
"The Ministry's providing a couple of cars," said, Arthur.
Everyone looked up at him.
"Why?" Percy asked, curiously.
"It's because of you, Perce," George said, seriously. "And there'll be little flags on the hoods, with HB on them"
"—for Humongous Bighead," Fred chuckled, giving George a high five.
Everyone except Percy and Molly snorted into their pudding.
"Why is the Ministry providing cars, Father?" Percy asked again, in a dignified voice.
"Well, as we haven't got one anymore," Arthur sighed. "—and as I work there, they're doing me a favor—"
His voice was casual, but Tori couldn't help noticing that Arthur's ears had gone red, just like Fred's did when he was upset or under pressure.

"He'll go mental if he can't find it, possibly tear the room apart," Fred whispered to Tori about their plan to steal Percy's head boy badge. Tori nodded, taking it in.
"Well, he's going to know somethings up if only one of you go."
"That's why we're hoping you could help us distract him." George grinned. Tori, of course, agreed. The trio heard Percy bid a goodnight to Molly and Arthur from below and make his way up the stairs.
"Quick go," Tori told the twins, rushing down to meet him. "Oh, Percy! Just the Weasley I wanted to see!"
"You wanted to see me?" Percy asked, confused. Tori nodded as if it was obvious. "Yes! I have a question for you, I was wondering... er... if, you think it was too late for me to end up becoming a Prefect."
Percy looked even more confused than ever. "You want to be a prefect?" Tori nodded, trying to take as little as possible offense to his tone. "Possibly. My marks have always been good, sure, I've gotten a few detentions here and there..."
"You also assist the twins in their pranks."
"Occasionally. That's not the point, being a prefect is a good look when you want to work for the ministry. Plus, respect is always nice." She peered over his shoulder to see Fred and George sneaking out of his room right as Percy said he could write a letter of recommendation.
"Actually, I'm good how I am. Thanks anyway." She ran passed him, turning the corner. Tori smiled, seeing the silver badge in Fred's hand.
"Nice work. Who knew you could be such an actress." Fred complimented. "Stop, you're making me blush."
There was a loud noise from down the hall inside Percy's room and the trio rushed down, crouching down in front of his door. George pulled out his wand, muttering over the badge.
Percy was rummaging through his drawers frantically. The three were beside their selves with laughter, trying hard not to be heard. Harry came out the stairs himself, fixing them an off stare.
"We've got it," Tori whispered as Fred showed him. "We've been improving it." The badge now read Bighead Boy.
Harry laughed, feeding something to Scabbers before shutting himself in his room. Ron appeared, shooting them a weird look before opening his door. Tori was about to warn him, but it was too late.
"Bloody hell, Percy!"
"My badge! I need my badge!"
can the weasleys adopt me? please?
