cxxix. harry's trial

Over the next couple of days, Molly has each of the children working on certain parts of the house. Tori didn't mind, cleaning gave her something to do, otherwise, she may have been sick with nerves.

Bill checked in with her every day, letting her know any updates about her vault. On Monday it was "We're working on it now, but unfortunately I can't bring it up to everyone else's priorities."

On Tuesday he told her it was going to be a struggle to get money out without other members of the family being alerted.

Tori told him whatever they had to do was fine and left it at that. She went for the next several days without any news.

After yet another long day at work, Tori was sleeping peacefully in her bed when her dreams look an odd turn. She was once again flying her broom into the night sky of England when the sky began to turn bright orange.

There were these loud siren noises, and Tori could hear screaming.

Tori! Tori! Over here!

Her heart was racing as she dove downwards. The world around her seemed to be on fire.

Tori! Tori!

She could hear someone calling her from inside a smoking building. She dove downwards into the fire.

Tori! Tori!

Tori jolted upwards, panting as her eyes began to focus in the dark room. She was nearly drenched in sweat and had tears running down her face.

She held her face in her hands, taking deep shaky breaths. It wasn't the voice that startled her. It was who's voice it was.

The voice sounded like Cedric.

"Are you okay?" Hermione's voice was a whisper coming from the other side of the room. Tori wondered what time it was.

She wiped her forehead, nodding. "Yeah, yeah. Did I wake you?" Hermione's shadow tilted her head. "A bit. It sounded like you were crying."

Tori nodded weakly, throwing the covers off of her and getting out of bed. She peered over towards the small window in the room to see the sun had now yet risen, but began slightly crack the dark a sky above it.

She heard Hermione mumble about going back to sleep, but Tori decided she would leave the room for a bit. She grabbed her wand, lighting the dark hallway with a swift Lumos.

She could hear voices in the kitchen, and it wasn't until she had gotten down there had it dawned on her that it was Harry's trial today.

"Oh, Tori! What are you doing up so early?" Molly turned towards her the moment she stepped into the kitchen. Tori gave a weak smile, "I couldn't fall back asleep."

Molly opened her mouth to say something but closed it almost immediately. She noticed Tori's thumb rub over the bracelet she was wearing, it was something other than fiddling with it she did for comfort. "Well, are you hungry? Sit down next to Harry and I'll fix up some breakfast."

Tori did as told, smiling at Harry. Tonks, who sat in front of them, yawned loudly. "And I'll have to tell Dumbledore I can't do night duty tomorrow, I'm just t-t-too tired," Tonks finished, yawning hugely again.

''I'll cover for you," said Arthur. "I'm OK, I've got a report to finish anyway..."

Tori noticed almost immediately both Arthur and Harry were wearing Muggles clothes. It felt odd to her. Arthur turned from Tonks to Harry.

''How're you feeling?"

Harry shrugged.

''It'll all be over soon," Arthur said bracingly. ''In a few hours' time, you'll be cleared."

Harry said nothing.

''The hearings on my floor, in Amelia Bones's office. She's Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and she's the one who'll be questioning you."

''Amelia Bones is OK, Harry," Tonks assured him earnestly. ''She's fair, she'll hear you out."

Harry nodded, staying silent.

''Don't lose your temper,'  Sirius said abruptly. ''Be polite and stick to the facts."

Harry nodded again.

''The law's on your side,' said Lupin quietly. "Even underage wizards are allowed to use magic in life-threatening situations."

"Maybe I could come. Maybe give my brother a nice hex if I see him." Tori suggested, earning a grin from Harry.

"No," A new voice, Bill's, came into the kitchen, shaking his head. "I have to bring you into Gringotts today, it's a huge mess."

Tori let out a sigh but suddenly tensed up realizing he had told her in front of everyone else. He had seemed to notice her tension because he quickly glanced at his mother. "I already told Mum in case I had to bring you in."

Molly pursued her lips tightly together as if she was deciding whenever or not to say something. Sirius was the first one to speak up.

"Ah, the day if getting cut off. That quickly, huh?" He asked, a slight grin on his face.

"You make it sound like it's a celebration." Tori raised an eyebrow, taking her plate of toast from Molly. Sirius shrugged, "It can be if you want it to be."

Tori stayed quiet for a moment, thinking that over. It can be. Well, he wasn't wrong...

"What's going on with your vault?" Harry asked. He had been so quiet Tori had almost forgotten he was there.

With a deep breath, Tori explained the letter she had received from her siblings, warning her of what was happening. "It was off getting a letter from both of them, but whatever works."

"So what's the problem with moving the money out?" Tonks's asked Bill.

"The Silvers wing is a very private wing. No ones allowed in there without a key. Tori already gave me her's, but they need some recognition. And then there's having to open a whole new vault for Tori and moving the money in and out. With a vault that big, it's no going to be easy doing it unnoticed."

"And I'm sure that it's all from some evil Death Eater cult... but money is still money. And believe it or not, I need it to survive." Tori sighed, resting her head on her hand.

The room was silent for a few minutes when Arthur glanced at his watch. "I think we'll go now," He said. "We're a bit early, but I think you'll be better off at the Ministry than hanging around here."

''OK," said Harry automatically, dropping his toast and getting to his feet.

''You'll be all right, Harry," Tonks said, patting him on the arm.

''Good luck," Lupin smiled. "I'm sure it will be fine."

''And if it's not," said Sirius grimly, ''I'll see to Amelia Bones for you..."

"You did nothing wrong, so don't worry." Tori reminded him. Harry smiled weakly.

Molly hugged him. "We've all got our fingers crossed," She said.

''Right," Harry nodded. "Well... see you later then."
