Chapter Six: The whole Time Warp thingy

7:05AM TUESDAY 3 DAYS TILL THE WORLD ENDS

I had a cup of coffee and was seated at the table with Wendy or Windy, I really don't know what to call her. I was doing my best not to look as lost as I felt.

I'm not the only person with a super power.

Wendy was looking at me as if I was going to lose it and burn down the entire block. Van was doing his best not to smile but i could tell he enjoyed watching the surprise on my face blossom.

"How many?" I asked setting down the cup while slowly reigning myself in. "How many of us have superpowers?"

"Well including the three of us," Van said stopping to count, "Maybe eight."

"Maybe?" I asked.

"Well it's increasingly difficult to know things like this." Wendy said. "Believe it or not this is not the first time the world has threatened to explode."

"What? You've guys have stopped it every other time?" I scoffed.

Wendy and Van shared a look. "No, not exactly."

"Look we can tell our stories, but your going to be really confused by the time we end." Wendy said. I sat down my coffee.

"I swear I'll try my best." I said "Considering how this effects me and my life for the next 3 days."

"Every time...wait no....When we....How this....Have you..." Wendy leaned back in her chair. "Oh I give up. Van you tell her."

"When i woke up on Saturday morning it was all the same as it had ever been for me." Van started staring into a pot on the stove. "I woke up in a dump alleyway on the west side of town. No family, no home, but a lot of alcohol. Me and my outcast friends found that if you kept enough of it in your system you didn't have to think about your life. I tried to stay away from the the worst parts of it but i t was hard. Anyway, i woke up because there were foot steps running down the back ways, echoing off the brick walls. Some kid made a wrong turn and came down our alley. Everybody else was out cold. i told the kid to get lost but he just stood there, looking at all us. Then he burst into tears. The kid's like six and i felt bad, took him in. Made sure he was okay. The stuff a good older brother would do. then he looked at me said one single word. "Chris". that's his name.

"Then you know the announcement came around and drunk started threatening him. I got in the middle and right before the drunk could cut me in two with his knife it started snowing. like full of snowing, temperature noticeably dropping snowing."

"Wait, I was outside of Saturday." I said. "I'm pretty sure it didn't snow."

"Let me finish." Van said. "Chris had created it, the flurry. all my friends started being real nice wanting him to make more. And Chris didn't say a word, but refused. Friday - just wait let me finish- rolled around and my and a girlfriend got really high, started making out. The second we touched it felt so good like fire rolling down my spine, I didnt want to stop. the next thing i knew she was gone."

"Excuse me?"

"Gone, dead, kicked the bucket." Van said. "You pick the word. Anyway i started freaking out, screaming trying to get her back and Chris is there. He doesn't say a word just watches until clock ticks 12:00 noon and every light went off. like someone had switched off the Sun.I could hear Chris breathing getting louder and harsher. And I didn't know what I was doing but I found his hand, tried to calm him down and then everything exploded. After a minute I opened my eyes on Saturday morning at ."

I sat there dumbstruck, trying hopelessly to collect my thoughts. "So your implying that the world has "exploded" at least eight times and every time someone else is forgotten to the world?"

"More or less." Wendy said. "And the person whose forgotten has some sort of super power. And since everything resets there's no way to know if there are more of us out there." The word 'us' sent a shiver down my spine.

"Who...who else is there?do they all have tragic back stories?" I asked

"Well, Ivy hates the world, Chris doesn't talk, Angel and Devil almost never tell the truth, and Zac "Spaz" is still deciding whether or not to trust us." Van said. Wendy beckoned me closer.

"Van the vampire pulled Zac out of the way of a speeding car and he passed out for two days." She wispered. Van ears turned a bright red.

"Oh so it physical contact." I said. "I thoguht i was just because your air conditioning was up." I joked

Both their heads snapped up. "What? Chloe the this building doesn't have air conditioning..." Wendy said.

"Chris!" Van cried bolting out of the room with Wendy and me only a step behind even though i had no idea what was going on.
