Kirishima X Lillian???
Third person pov
Kirishima took a deep breath and exhaled. Then, he took another, held it, released it. He did it again.
Okay, so maybe he was mildly panicking. He'd said he wasn't before, but now he was, and it was just a mess. He knew freaking out like this wasn't manly. He was sure the Crimson Riot had never had any problems with the ladies! His idol, in his prime, had been confident and sure. So Kirishima was trying to be confident and sure as well as he approached Lillian's desk. He was going slower, inching closer as though Lillian herself were a bomb about to go off.
She and Todoroki had been quietly talking before, but they fell silent as he came to a stop in front of them. The redhead felt sweat pour down his face as an unsure feeling fell upon him. Todoroki had long since been dubbed the hottest, coolest guy in class, no puns intended. That's just how it was. He was handsome, with a gnarly scar, two powerful quirks, and a father that was the number two hero. In contrast, Kirishima was... well, he was just Kirishima. He had a plain quirk and...
"K-Kirishima?" Lillian hesitantly stuttered, drawing the boy from his self-deprecating train of thought. His cheeks immediately went red with a mixture of embarrassment and giddiness. Being around Lillian made him feel all mushy on the inside. It had taken him a long time to realize what was happening. It's not like he hung out with her a lot, but he did talk with her on occasion and had seen her in action.
She was nice, and not at all cocky. Her quirk was absolutely amazing, and she was crazy smart! He'd asked her for help for English once during lunch, and she'd been so patient. She was, to put it simply, manly. No, womanly. Even better in his opinion. She was so pretty he felt he could stare all day, and when she laughed, the world totally lit up. He didn't even know how it was possible, but she did! She was just... just Lillian. He wasn't good with words.
Seeing her in the Sports Festival had sparked this all. It was the most they'd interacted in a while, really. She'd wished him luck with a sweet smile and a cute thumbs up, and told him how amazing his quirk was and how useful it happened to be. She got easily flustered and stuttered a lot. She'd clearly been one of the most nervous people in their class about the whole thing, but she'd still reassured her friends and did her best. It had paid off.
She'd teamed up with someone from 1-B and someone from Gen Ed, which was impressive alone. The way she worked with them though, it was... it was amazing. Seeing her utilize her quirk left him in absolute awe. It was amazing! Absolutely, without a doubt, amazing. There wasn't another word to describe it. She was strong and smart, with a heart of gold. She was beautiful inside and out, as cheesy as that was.
"U-Uh, here." It was unlike him to stutter, but he couldn't help it. He thrust the envelope towards her, waiting for her to take it with a burning face and nervous smile. She did, though hesitantly, returning his nervous smile with a slightly smaller, more confused one. It was enough to send his heart aflutter as he sputter out a quick thanks before turning around and darting back to his desk to go, you know, sink into oblivion and die.
"...D-Do you know what that was about?" Lillian asked, glancing at Todoroki. The boy shrugged, but had a knowing glint in his eyes. As though he was familiar with the situation. Lillian's eyes dropped to the envelope. Sure enough, it was for her. It had her name printed on the back in bulky yet neat black letters. Kirishima's handwriting, without a doubt. She flipped it over.
Oh.
Her face went red when she saw the heart-shaped sticker sealing it. Seeing it made it dawn on her just what this was. Her confusion was flushed away, her heart beating erratically as her eyes flickered to the smirking Todoroki. Kirishima had just come up to her and given her a love letter. She didn't know why he'd do such a thing. Was she over thinking this? Maybe he didn't have anything else to seal the envelope with. Or maybe it wasn't actually from him and he was just delivering it for someone else. But it was his handwriting, and still, why would anyone write her a love letter. She-
"It's a love letter." Todoroki confirmed. Lillian's jaw dropped.
"Wh-What do I do with it?" Lillian looked horrified. "Burn it?"
"You're supposed to read it." Todoroki sounded even unsure as he said this, and looked a little guilty. Lillian eyed him suspiciously, eyes going to his left hand. It was twitching awkwardly.
"Todoroki, have you been burning the love letters girls give y-"
"You're supposed to read it, Lillian."
Lillian narrowed her eyes at him for his interruption. He narrowed his back. Lillian's eyes flickered to Kirishima only to see him gazing at her. He immediately flushed and flipped back around when he realized he was caught, and Lillian felt her own face go red all over again. She'd never gotten a love letter before, but Kirishima? It was from Kirishima? Of course they were friends and there was nothing wrong with him! She just... she never would have thought...
The bell rung, and Kirishima was sprinting out the door before anyone else. A few raised eyebrows at this. Lillian blinked, clutching the letter with both hands as Todoroki pulled her to her feet. Dazedly, she processed him leading her out the door by her shoulder as she gazed down at the envelop. She kept flipping it over to look at her name only to turn it back as though she expected the heart to be gone or different somehow. Each time, she was met by the same sight. A bright pink heart sticker helped to seal the letter shut.
"Is she okay?" Hitoshi adjusted his backpack briefly before his gaze dropped to the letter she was fiddling with. "Oh, that makes sense."
"What?! You got a love letter?! Who's it from? Have you opened it? Are they got? Is it a boy or girl?" Neito appeared out of literally nowhere. Todoroki almost jumped right out of his shoes in surprise. Had he borrowed a teleportation quirk again? A speed quirk? Todoroki was 100% sure there was nothing there before, and that Neito wasn't in the premise.
"I-I haven't. I... I-It's from Kirishima." Lillian felt her cheeks grow redder, if that was even possible. Redder than his hair, she mused. She was pretty sure it was dyed, but she didn't want to point out his black roots. He probably had his reasons. Besides, it suited him! Not that that even mattered right now. I mean, maybe it did. Or did it. No, she was over thinking things. Her opinion wasn't needed. He looked great. Oh my god what if this wasn't a love letter, but a critique on her appearance? That would make so much more sense-
"Are you going to open it?" Hitoshi asked. She blinked back into reality to see her three friends blinking at her curiously. Neito looked infinitely excited, his hands clasped together and eye lashes batting as though that would convince Lillian to open the letter. The girl hesitated for a moment before carefully beginning to peel it open. Neito and Hitoshi watched her almost fondly, like proud parents watching their child take their first steps. Todoroki was the awkward uncle standing off to the side. The one who cared but didn't know what to say or do with himself.
Lillian held her breath as she carefully peeled the envelope open. A piece of neatly folded notebook paper was sticking out. She glanced up at her friends again. Hitoshi and Neito gave encouraging nods. Shoto glanced at them and then copied. Lillian took that as a sign that no, the letter wasn't going to blow up and kill them all, and she could proceed. So she did. With caution, of course. You can never be too careful these days.
It was written in pen, with a lot of scribbled out bits. She had never related to a piece of writing more. Shooting her friends one more hesitant look, she started to read to herself.
Hey, Lillian!
So this is probably super weird that you're... you know, getting this and stuff. I know we don't really talk, but hear me out! Please. I mean you don't have to but you're also really nice so I think you'll keep reading. I should get to the point. Sorry about that.
"That's adorable." Lillian jumped, not realizing Neito was leaning over her shoulder. Hitoshi yanked him back and gave Lillian an encouraging half-smile.
You're a really cool person. You're super strong! At the USJ, you stopped at nothing to keep Mr. Aizawa alive. It was amazing. You're amazing. And then during the Sports Festival, we got to talk some more. And you told me my quirk was cool and... I don't know. You're just an amazing person. I know I keep saying amazing, but I'm not that great with words. Sorry about that.
"I'm going to catch on fire." Lillian whispered, her face flaming red. Her friends stared at her with anticipation.
This is so weird to write. I'm just going to write like you're not going to read it, which I know is really weird, but I'm having some major anxiety here! Totally not manly. Anyway, it's going to look like it's in third person and... wow, I'm really not helping myself here. Here we go.
Lillian is the most beautiful girl I know. It's insane! She has the brightest smile, and her laugh makes my heart go faster than should be humanly possible. It's pretty crazy, actually, just how much I like her. It's sort of hard to write out. She's just... I don't know. She's Lillian! I think I'm falling in love with her. Is that weird? I think it's pretty weird, but I can't help it. Her freckles are literally so cute, and her eyes are gorgeous! Like the sky right after the sun has just come up. Man, you'd have to see it to know what I'm talking about.
She's crazy smart. I remember once I asked her for help with my English and bro, I swear it was the best day of my life. She was so helpful, and patient, and beautiful. Seriously, she probably thinks I'm an idiot. I was just really busy staring at her, you know? I wasn't trying to get distracted or waste her time. I'm really lucky she put up with me that whole time.
Sometimes I catch sight of her during lunch and can't look away. When she's happy and comfortable, she radiates. It's one of the most alluring things I think I've ever witnessed, and I've seen a lot of pretty things. I just think Lillian might be the prettiest. And she's just so small, too. Like I could wrap her up in my arms, and she'd be totally gone. She's tiny, man! It's insanely adorable! Like a baby animal.
Her personality is everything. I'm serious. Her face and her laugh and her patience, and her sense of humor I sometimes I get to see, and the way she looks at things. And she's so nice. So, so nice. She may be shy and timid, but she has the kindest heart ever. She wouldn't hesitate to help someone in need, no matter how horrible they were. She's just that kind of girl.
That was super creepy and I'm so sorry. I'm going to regret this so much when you take out a restraining order on me. I promise I don't stare for more than fifteen seconds at a time, scouts honor. I'm running out of space to write now, and if my face gets any hotter, I'm going to pass out.
"Same." Lillian choked out to herself.
Anyway, my number is XXX-XXX-XXXX if you want to text me sometime! You don't have to. If you don't, I totally get it and will never bring this up again. Sorry this is super out of nowhere. I'm just... sort of falling in love with you, and I'm sort of okay with that. And it would be manly if you were too.
Look forward to seeing you! (the word "love" was scribbled out notably) Hope to hear from you soon, Eijiro Kirishima (There was a heart marked out too)
Lillian was going to choke, die, cry her eyes out, all of the above. Maybe have a panic attack. She was feeling quite a bit of things right now. None of them were really bad, either. Maybe the panic and mortification as she scrambled to organize her thoughts. But Kirishima was such a sweet person and... wow she was going to cry. Nobody had ever said anything like... that... and...
"So what did it say?" Neito asked as Lillian scrambled to pull her phone out. Hitoshi and Shoto both shared a look, both trying to figure out whether or not she was calling the police or something else. She was definitely shaking, and they were pretty sure literally her entire body was red at the moment. A terrifying development, really. They'd only ever seen her face and neck go scarlet, but she looked ready to literally catch on fire.
Lillian typed in the number, trying not to crumble the paper as she shifted her phone on top of it. The three boys watched as she began to type at the speed of light, her fingers flying across the keyboard. Neito lightly tugged the piece of notebook paper. Lillian was too preoccupied with whatever she was typing notice as he carefully slipped it from her grasp. The other two teens huddled around him as they began to read, eyes moving back and forth.
Lillian texted Kirishima the only thing she could really think of. She probably should have waited for herself to stop crying before she did so, but she couldn't really stop herself. She was in a total panic, a million thoughts racing through her head. She was going to regret this later. She just had an overwhelming urge to kiss Kirishima even though she didn't know him. It was just one of those moments where someone was just so entirely, totally flawless and spectacular that you wanted to smother them in affection while screaming.
Lillian:
I think you're really amazing too and not creepy at all
Lillian:
And like I know we don't hang out but we should even though I'll probably cry the entire time and I'm really sorry but I think you may be putting me on a pedestal and don't want you to be disappointed but you're really cool and have a nice face too and I like your hair and your eyes and your teeth are so amazing and your smile is actually really nice and I always wanted to tell you but that's weird
Lillian:
I think I'm having a panic attack
Kirishima:
Oh my god wait Lillian
Neito snatched her phone before she could process, while Hitoshi wrapped her in a hug. Neito took the floor. Todoroki was still being the awkward uncle, but he did provide ice to cool Lillian down before she literally fried her brain.
Lillian:
Hey, this is Neito, Lillian's friend. You have permission to marry her now. She's crying (in a good way) and blushing really hard. Can confirm she thinks your cute. Her eyes are telling me she's into it man. You're a good guy. We do require an interview if you wish to proceed, however. First question. How would you feel about Lillian potentially stealing your sweaters?
Elsewhere, a wide grin stretched across Kirishima's face as he clutched his phone, cheeks red and body trembling ever so slightly. His heart was racing a mile a minute, but not in a bad way, There was no way he could be any happier in this moment.
Kirishima:
Bro, she can have them
~~~~~
High-key the most wholesome ship in the world. Don't worry I have a book in the works for these two that's a whole lot different from Freeze Frame, but is still Lillian.
