Chapter 73

I would like to apologize to literally everyone. I had been planning to have Eri come in for a while, but it didn't compute in my head that it counted as Manga spoilers for some reason???  I apologize for not putting a warning. Just to let you guys know, there are probably going to be some manga spoilers coming up! If that isn't your jam and jelly, I greatly apologize.

Third person pov

A mere day after getting her packet of internship offers, Lillian bounced back into the classroom with her choice. She looked so happy he couldn't help but smile just a little at her as she handed him the paper. He hoped it wasn't too far off, but seeing her so overjoyed almost made it okay. He didn't exactly know why that made it okay, but it did. He seriously needed to adopt this kid. He had an entire week off coming up, so he could definitely do it then.

Lillian was... well, odd. There was something about her he simply adored. He couldn't pinpoint what it was, so he had to assume it was just her in general. He had no idea. He'd never felt such warmth for someone before. I was just plain weird, but he didn't particularly dislike it. They way she'd smile lit up his entire world, and he felt nothing short of complete, utter relief when he knew she was okay and safe. It was like a weight was taken off his shoulders when she was happy and healthy.

He sighed quietly to himself when he saw she'd picked none other than Mic. Mic, who was in this building and prefecture. It was a relief and a terror. What if Mic adopted her first? He had to move fast if he wanted to get Lillian before he did. Still, he'd almost forgotten the blonde was Lillian's favorite hero. Hopefully the man wouldn't coerce her into agreeing to an adoption before Aizawa could swipe her up.

He hadn't chosen to take interns this year, simply because he felt like he wouldn't have the time with everything with Lillian. He'd expected her to be farther out, and as a result had been making plans to maybe go check on her every day or so just to ensure she was fine. Maybe even take some patrols in whatever area she was in so long as his agency reached that far. Now he sort of regretted it. Would Lillian have picked him were he an option?

"Why don't you go give this to Mic?" He handed it back to her with a half smile, already prepared for the excited shrieks that would no doubt echo down the halls. Lillian lit up, looking at him like he'd just hung the moon and every star. He was glad nobody else was in the classroom yet. They'd have seen his expression soften, and that would cause them to ask questions. Questions he himself was still having trouble answering.

Todoroki came in just as Lillian sprinted out like hell was on her heels, turning to watch her go with raised eyebrows before shrugging and turning to Aizawa. Personally, the Underground Hero had been expecting Shoto to intern with is dad. Endeavor had insisted he do it and had even called a few times to ask why they hadn't contacted him about Shoto's internship yet. Funnily enough, he asked about Lillian a few times too. That made Aizawa snort. As if

"Here." Shoto handed him the paper, signed and ready to go. Aizawa blinked down at it. Now that's not what he'd been expecting. Shoto hadn't chosen the Number Two Hero, Endeavor. He'd chosen the Number Three Hero, Hawks. He was a new up and comer, young, handsome, and rich. Almost every woman and teenage girl in Japan knew who he was. He was impressive, and his quirk was even more so. "If my father asks, I haven't decided yet."

"Alright." Aizawa agreed easily, taking it. Shoto didn't seem to like his father much. Aizawa would have to look into that.

Lillian barreled into the teacher work room like she owned the place, almost taking herself and Vlad King out. The man stumbled back as she spun out of the way, darting for Mic. The man looked up just as she skidded to a stop by his desk, earning a few odd looks. After her little phone call stunt pertaining to the permission slip signing incident, nobody was sure what to think of her.

"What's up, Little Listener?" Mic chirped excitedly. He'd never seen Lillian look so exuberant before, and that made him exuberant. She just looked so happy! She was practically bouncing in place. God, this kid was adorable. Mic had been compacting evidence ever since the Sports Festival ended to try and sell it to Aizawa. He'd brought it up briefly, but he'd just rolled his eyes and scoffed. Scoffed! At him!

"Look!" Lillian presented the paper to him. He took one look at it and screamed a scream that made Snipe fall out of his chair. Ectoplasm turned to stare at them, as did Midnight.

"Little Listener!" He shrieked, hopping from his seat and hugging her. This girl was an angel. "You want to intern with me?!"

"Y-Yeah!" She exclaimed, feet dangling quite a ways off the ground as her English teacher hugged her, grinning down at her excitedly. She wanted to intern with him! "I-I-I just wa-want to be m-more confident, l-like you. W-With microphones a-a-and cameras."

"We can do that!" He was the one bouncing now. Was he going to cry? He felt like he wanted to cry. He'd heard twice that she admired him for his confidence. The fact that she felt comfortable enough to request the help she needed with the media from him made his heart soar. This was amazing. Best day ever. She even came and gave him the paper herself. This was adorable. The cutest thing ever.

Lillian was a good kid. The best kid, if he dare say so himself. She was precious, and adorable, and the best thing to ever walk on this god forsaken Earth. Mic adored and loved her with every fiber of his loud being. He just wanted to hug her and protect her from literally anything and everything. She was just that kind of kid. Like a puppy, or kitten. In human form.

"I-Is it okay?" Lillian checked, suddenly unsure as Mic set her down carefully. The blonde grinned.

"Of course it is! This is great!" He shrieked, clapping his hands together. His eyes widened. "Oh my god, I need to get you a jacket!"

"Mic, calm down." Midnight sighed, though she was smiling too. Everyone knew Mic and Aizawa were having some sort of war over Lillian, who was oblivious to the entire thing going on beneath her nose. It was honestly the cutest thing Midnight had ever seen. Still, Mic and Aizawa could get pretty out of control if not held back. Especially Mic.

Lillian could only smile, face flushed and heart racing.

"Ever had a taco?" Chad asked Eri. He'd asked if she wanted to go to the police station, to which she'd begun to cry and say something about not wanting to be arrested. Not Chad's best and brightest moment, but he'd managed to calm the squirt down by promising her they wouldn't go, and would instead have a groovy time doing something that wasn't law-related. She'd stopped crying after that, and allowed him to secure her in the passenger seat. He also pulled the pistol out of the glove compartment and stuck it under his leg, in case.

He had no idea where this girl came from. Only that she was terrified and in danger. He wasn't about to let that weird plague man take her back. Whoever the fuck he was. The issue was, he was pretty sure they were going to keep coming after her. He didn't know what to do about that. Unless he could... eliminate the threat, that is. He wasn't sure how he'd even begin to do something like that. He wasn't licensed to go hunt bitches.

"I'm going to call my older brother, okay?" Chad gave her a thumbs up. "He's like me, but not as cool. Not as hot either."

"So... So he's very cold? Does he wear sweaters?" Eri blinked, sniffling to herself. She liked Chad. He was nice and used funny words she'd never heard before. Like 'groovy' and 'radical.' She liked them, though. She hoped she could stay with him. She'd seen his gun, and she knew he was going to protect her with it if he needed to. What bad guy did that? He had to be good. He had to be.

"Sometimes." Chad shrugged. He wasn't about to explain to a six year old, or whatever age this kid was, what the word hot meant pertaining to people's appearance and not their temperature. She was too young for that bullshit. That was besides the point, though. He whipped out his phone and swiped to his brother's contact. The guy wasn't the best at picking up, but he usually did if it was Chad.

It rang a few times. Chad would just call the meme squad, but they were at school and he wasn't about to disrupt their snazzy learning, you know? He wasn't about that life. Besides, he could go to them later for when he needed a babysitter. If he wasn't taking this kid to the police, it meant she wasn't going to go into foster care or witness protection. And if she wasn't going into foster care or witness protection, it meant she didn't have anywhere to go. Which meant he needed to take care of her for now.

"Bro, I'm literally at work." Was the first thing Chad's brother groaned out when he picked up. Chad sighed heavily.

"Duuude, wait so like, I was delivering some killer Chipotle to this shitty part of town. And some kid ran out and said she needed help and that some fuckface wasn't her dad. So I grabbed her, and some weirdo in one of those old plague masks popped out. I booked it. Now I want to low-key/high-key gun them down and shit but can't do it legally." Chad just dropped it on him.

"What's a fuckface?" Eri whispered.

"It means someone who's bad." Chad whispered back. The other line was silent.

"...Dude, meet me at the apartment."

"See you there, bro. Oh, do you want any tacos?"

The two weeks leading up to internships went quickly. Lillian and Bakugo's texting conversations soon weren't out of obligation, and they quickly realized that talking to one another wasn't that bad. Not that they'd tell one another that. They just sort of kept doing what they were doing, and that was that. It didn't take long for their texting to turn into phone calls, giving them the ability to multi-task as they chatted.

"Are you seriously talking to that asshole again?" Neito groaned from the top bunk as Lillian entered the room, wearing shorts, a tank top, and a pair of fuzzy socks that nobody knew the owner of. They just sort of circulated between the four of them and everyone was fine with it. But that was besides the point! She was totally talking to Bakugo like, all the time now. Not at school or anything. The most they did was nod to one another there. But on the phone...

"He needs help with English." Lillian shrugged, gathering up all the dirty clothes strewn across the floor and placing them in the laundry basket by the closet, one earbud in her ear, and the other out. Neito could very faintly hear Bakugo cursing on the other end. Honestly, he was horrified. How had their precious Lillian fallen in with such a... such a chump?!

"Don't we all." Hitoshi grumbled, also on the top bunk. He was glad they'd gotten the more expensive bed. It wouldn't have held their weight otherwise. They'd invited Todoroki to come watch vines with them in a desperate attempt to get him to understand, but he was too busy mulling over his plans to bump Hawks into the second place spot to really fret over anything at the moment.

Speaking of Endeavor, he knew Shoto was gone. And he was sister fucking shook. Pissed as hell. The enraged screams over the phone had made everyone wince. Shoto had shrugged and simply hung up and gone back to playing Temple Run. He was honestly numb to it now. Endeavor had interrogated the school, but even Aizawa wasn't aware Shoto had been abducted willfully. However, Endeavor couldn't do much if Shoto was willingly gone.

"Who're you interning with?" Lillian asked Bakugo as she exited the room with the basket, heading for the laundry room. Living with three boys was weird, but also really messy. Shoto was somewhat neat. Or he had been before he decided to propel Hawks up the ranks. Now he was constantly tossing crumbled up pieces of paper over his shoulder and dropping pens on the ground. Notebooks were everywhere, courtesy of Midoriya who'd come over a few times to help him work it out.

"...You're gonna fucking laugh if I tell you." Bakugo felt himself begin to sweat. He'd decided last minute on Friday, still unsure. Lillian raised a brow as she began to put the lighter clothing in the washer. Bakugo sighed heavily. He guessed Lillian was like, his friend now. They talked daily and he actually looked forward to it, and they'd started phone calls. His mom was being a fucking nag about it and wanting to talk to Lillian to. He told her to fuck off every time.

"I got offers from half of the top ten and I chose my English teacher. Try me." Lillian snorted. Bakugo sighed heavily, running a hand over his face. He felt like a fucking idiot.

"So there's this guy who just got his hero license last week or some shit. There's literally nothing on him. The press hasn't touched the guy and there isn't shit on him." He admitted. "So I chose him."

Bakugo didn't want someone corrupt. A new hero seemed... well, better. It's not like heroes popped out of the mill all fucked up, right? That's what Bakugo liked to think. He was still a bit nervous, but there was no fucking way he was choosing one of his teachers. If he was going to choose anyone, it would be Present Mic or Mr. Aizawa. But Mr. Aizawa wasn't taking interns, and Lillian was already with the Voice Hero, so he wasn't about to rain on her fucking parade.

New heroes popped up everyday. A lot didn't last long, but it wasn't impossible for someone who didn't go to a hero school to get a license. It's why he'd chosen this guy. He was the only one in his list who was new and had little to no experience. Bakugo wasn't sure what he could learn from a newbie, but that was besides the point. Apparently they were good enough that they were allowed to take interns.

"Oh? What's his hero name?" Lillian blinked.

"He's some fucker who sent out requests for everyone in the hero course. That's all I know, really." He grumbled vaguely. He felt embarrassed, but there was no changing it. He's chosen some new mysterious hero fucker. "I don't even know what the guy fucking looks like. He somehow got clearance to ask for interns, though, so whatever. It's just one week."

"His hero name is "some fucker"?" Lillian dumped some detergent in the washer. She took a whiff and crinkled her nose before going to add more. She swore Hitoshi secretly wore the same shirt for four days without any of them noticing. Somehow.

"It's... fuck, his name is fucking Chad." Bakugo grumbled, face burning with embarrassment. Lillian dropped the entire jug of detergent in.

Sorry that one was so short and like, an awkward filler. We get back on track next chapter y e e t

Also for those interested in the Shigaraki book, Lillian is NOT the OC. I had a story before I ever wrote that one shot in my drafts based around that idea. Shigaraki is friends with someone online, and they finally meet and the friend realizes Shigaraki is a villain. So I sort of got the one shot idea from the draft-story to begin with, not the other way around.

Basically uh,,, to summarize, it is a Shigaraki love story low-key maybe probably and uh,,, yes here we go

So girl and Shigaraki are online friends and get pretty close over the years. They meet. Turns out the girl is super fucking hot. Turns out she's like low-key famous and shit and she's like "Yo man,,,, you can't be a villain"

And Shigaraki panics and I like "Shit my friend" and ends up being like "Oh, okay I can stop" (but with more context)

So then she convinces him that heroes are the diggity shit so they make plans to take down the League of Villains. But they need help. So they employ the street smart Dabi who knows shit and is a low-key thug (not a part of the league yet), Tensei Iida who is in a wheelchair but knows stuff about heroes and how it works and still has an agency, and a UA student I will not divulge the name of at this moment and time. And maybe someone form the police force but who knows.

And it's basically them taking down the league and low-key becoming a squad sorta??? Idk there's like an entire chapter just trying to get Tensei's wheelchair up a flight of stairs so it's like not the best story but if anyone's interested I can work on it more and post it-
