Chapter 66

Sorry for not updating yesterday/super early this morning, folks! I got extremely distracted writing some gay Iida stuff and lost track of time----

Third person pov

"Begin!" Midnight brought down her whip, but Iida didn't move. Hitoshi didn't either, standing stock still. Behind him, the ad for Cranberry Sprite still billowed lightly despite the lack of wind in the stadium. Nobody had seem Kaminari since his match. Many members of 1-A speculated that he'd left the premise completely in a panic. Mina and Sero had taken it upon themselves to hunt Hound Dog down in the crowd and personally explain the situation, and request that the counselor talk to the electric blonde.

Hound Dog hadn't had all that many sessions with Lillian, but she certainly didn't seem all that scary. He promised the pair of teens he'd see what was wrong with Kaminari. Him running from Lillian and a soda ad, blood on the girl or not, was a bit odd. The scream had also been genuine. Lillian hadn't had to use her quirk to get him out of bounds either. She'd simply used it to subdue his electricity, and that was it.

"Hey, Iida, eatin' sugar?" Hitoshi asked. The engine-legged boy visibly hesitated, fighting posture slackening in the slightest.

"He has no idea what's about to hit him." Lillian said, shoveling some popcorn out of Neito's bowl and into her mouth. The blonde did the same, nodding in agreement. Aizawa had left the announcer's booth and forced her to explain why she was covered in blood in between the first round of the finals and the second, as they did hold an intermission. Lillian hadn't given any details, nervously stating that she had donated the blood for a good cause. Aizawa could only groan and demand she get changed before she got sick from it.

"Poor guy." Neito muttered, shaking his head. Lillian felt Yeet shift, still in his spot from earlier. At least it was keeping him warm.

Hitoshi continued when Iida didn't respond. "Tellin' lies?" The purple haired boy prodded. Iida seemed to flare up at that.

"Are you accusing me o-" Iida's face went blank, eyes going void. Everyone seemed to give a collective wince at that. If people hadn't gotten how Hitoshi's brainwashing worked, that was their own fault. He'd used it several times, and even Neito had given a demonstration using Kirishima as the subject. It's not like it was news or anything. Lillian sighed.

"Alright, walk out of bounds." Hitoshi made shooing motions with his hand, and Iida turned around and did as he was told. The stadium cheered for the purple-haired boy as Mic boisterously announced him to be the winner. Lillian felt herself smile, raising up her hand. Neito slapped his against it without having to look her way, shaking his head and humming to himself as Iida's brainwashing was dropped.

"Next up we've got the two power-houses of 1-A! That's right, everyone! It's Bakugo Katsuki versus Shoto Todorokiii!" Mic shrieked over the roaring cheers. Lillian and Neito turned as Hitoshi stepped back into the seating area, looking relieved. Neito stood up to give him a hug, grinning. Lillian tilted her head at the two boys. Hugs were wonderful and all, but they sure were doing it a lot. Then again, Neito was a pretty touchy-feely guy when he was feeling affectionate. She'd have to keep an eye on that.

"I knew you had it in you." Neito plopped back down, Hitoshi sitting next to him. Lillian leaned forward, holding out her fist. He grinned lazily as he bumped his against it. His victory had surely turned a lot of heads. Iida had been a driving force in his team making it through the cavalry portion of the festival. He'd presented a special move that helped them to get the bands they needed, and had a powerful conscience and quirk. Seeing him so easily turn around and walk off had to have been impressive. The heroes here were probably kicking themselves due to him not being on the roster of interns they could choose from.

Yet.

"Are you ready?!" Mic shrieked.

"Who do we cheer for?" Hitoshi raised an eyebrow.

"Candy cane, obviously. We are protecting him from the bag of shit just across the way there." Neito gestured to Endeavor, who was glaring at them instead of watching his son. Lillian shivered slightly under his gaze. Yeah, they'd definitely gotten on his bad side. That wasn't the worst thing, but it definitely wasn't great either. Even Hitoshi winced.

"W-Well, Bakugo is on the protection squad though." Lillian pointed out. Neito and Hitoshi hummed in acknowledgement. Quite the tough decision.

"Both?" Hitoshi asked.

"Gang gang." Lillian agreed. Neito elbowed her for her comment. She didn't really blame him.

Below, Bakugo felt nervous. Not because he was afraid of losing. He was afraid damn Icyhot would recede back into himself and only use half his damn quirk. If Bakugo beat him like that, it wouldn't really be a win. And it would also mean that the Nerd destroyed his arm for jack shit. Bakugo wasn't a fan of the guy, but he didn't condone breaking your body either. The idiot would only try to do it again.

Icyhot's dad was right there. Bakugo could see him standing at the railing, leaning forward. He wasn't currently looking at them, which was a good thing. A single word and the shaky foundation Icyhot was just beginning to build for himself would shatter. It would be total bullshit, and Bakugo didn't have time to clean up that kind of mess. He would if it came to it, but dammit, he'd be pissed as hell. Not at Icyhot, but at that flaming bastard for ruining it.

"Begin!" Mic exclaimed. Todoroki acted immediately.

A glacier of ice rapidly began to form. Bakugo didn't slack off, though. He quickly deflected with several powerful explosions, all in speedy succession of one another. The crowd awed at the mass amount of ice, eyes wide and wondering if Bakugo had been overcome. Lillian found herself scooting forward for a better view. If she knew anything about Bakugo at all, it was that he wouldn't let a hunk of ice take him out, no matter how big it happened to be.

"I'll never let go, Rose." Neito whispered at the sight of the large piece of ice. Hitoshi groaned, bringing his hands up to cover his face. Lillian couldn't quite blame him for that either. She sunk back into her seat, eyes meeting Endeavor's smug ones across the way. As if she had a preference as to which of her classmates won, or wanted Todoroki to lose. Her eyes narrowed back despite the pounding of her heart. I mean, he was all the way over there, so it wasn't too bad. Him being right up close and personal would be... well, a little different.

A faint explosion caught her attention, and then another. Neito nudged her, drawing her attention away from the flaming dumpster and back to the fight below. The ice began to crack, and soon Bakugo was springing out of a hole he burrowed, leaping at Todoroki. Lillian watched the explosive blonde evade being attacked, grabbing the half-and-half boy and throwing him harshly towards the edge of their arena.

"Todoroki avoids going out of bounds with a wall of ice!" Mic exclaimed as Todoroki regained his footing. Lillian's eyes went to Endeavor, and she saw his mouth stretch into a grin. She scrambled to raise her hands, holding them in such a manner that it blocked the crowd around him as she froze him once again before he could open his mouth. At the same time, Todoroki grabbed Bakugo, left side catching alight as he punted the blonde away.

"What did you-" Hitoshi leaned forward, cutting himself off when Lillian opened her mouth and let more blood drip free. Neito did a double take, lowering his Endeavor Annihilation notebook with wide eyes. Lillian groaned, clutching her stomach and leaning forward. She felt Yeet squirm uncomfortably at the sudden movement as pain pulsated through her midsection.

Bakugo was relieved. That flaming piece of shit that didn't deserve to be a hero was quickly clearly frozen in his tracks, mouth open as though he were about to say something. Half-and-half was still using his flames, which took a huge weight off Bakugo's shoulders. One he hadn't realized was there. Endeavor seemed like a strong enough force to be held down by. Bakugo wasn't going to blame Icyhot for not wanting to use his quirk, but he was glad he was. It had to be suffocating, holding a part of yourself back for fear of becoming someone you didn't want to be.

"Hell yeah!" Bakugo grinned widely. "Ignore that flaming shitbag. It's just you against me."

Todoroki's eyes flashed, and he smiled just a little too.

While the pair below shook the stadium completely, Hitoshi and Neito were panicking over a clearly-dying Lillian. The girl was very clearly afraid Endeavor would interrupt, and thus was fighting through the dizzying pain that came with freezing someone as powerful as Endeavor. She wanted to scream, it hurt so bad. But the pain was also so immense that she couldn't get words out. Only blood seemed to pour from her mouth, her eyes watering .

"Lillian, unfreeze him." Neito had grabbed her shoulder to try and stop her from zoning out. Going into a catatonic state of shock from the sheer amount of hurt she was experiencing was definitely not what they needed at the moment. How would they ever get her to drop Endeavor if they couldn't reach her? Hitoshi cursed to himself, moving in front of her and grabbing her face. He forced her to look at him.

"Drop him." Hitoshi ordered. "Now, Lillian."

"Do as your father says." Neito chided, though worry dominated his attempt to lighten the atmosphere as more blood spilled past Lillian's lips. The girl grumbled something that sounded like a curse, dropping her control over Endeavor. Across from them, the man's mouth clacked shut as an explosion once again rocked the air around them, followed by a blast of fire that heated the air. He seemed disoriented. Lillian raised her middle finger tiredly as he turned to look at her accusingly. He seemed taken aback and startled by all the blood on her. Neito also raised his middle finger. Hitoshi swatted them both.

"Idiot, your match is just around the corner. Todoroki would have been alright." Hitoshi chided, though he wasn't sure that was true. Todoroki was just now beginning to get comfortable with his flames again. Anything could have broken that, even with Bakugo giving him one hell of a fight. Izuku had just barely gotten him to do it, and Midoriya was Midoriya! The fact that he had to break so many bones to get him to listen was terrifying.

Lillian sighed, spitting out some more blood. So much for her spare uniform. Maybe Momo could make her a new one, or one of her classmates would allow her to borrow there's later. She was lucky these things were waterproof. She wouldn't want any blood seeping in and bothering Yeet. Pulling her collar back and peeking down at him, he seemed to be alright asleep.

Before Lillian could open her mouth to assure them she was fine, a huge shock wave washed over them as Cementoss was once again forced to raise several stone walls to try and taken the brunt of their attacks. The crowd shrieked as hot air once again poured over them. Lillian once again reached for her eye drops, wiping her hands on the legs of her uniform beforehand. Neito groaned, shielding his face.

"Again?" Hitoshi grumbled as the rubble settled. Pro heroes had jumped to protect to crowd from any stray pieces of the walls the cement hero had been forced to make. Lillian coughed a little, wiping at the blood under her chin. She was really beginning to hate the iron taste of it. She should have brought mints.

"Here." Neito offered her his water, not taking his eyes off the cloud of dust below. Midnight could barely be seen moving in the smog, looking through the smoke and drifting dirt to try and see who'd won. Lillian water-falled the liquid, swishing it around in her mouth before spitting it out with a gag. She winced at the bloody ground at her feet. She felt rather bad for the custodial crew. They were going to be wondering just what happened

"What's this?! Both Bakugo and Todoroki are both out of bounds!" Mic exclaimed as soon as he could spot the pair. "It's a draw!"

"Well, shit. That messes things up, doesn't it?" Hitoshi noted, leaning back in his seat. Neito was attacking Lillian was napkins he'd gotten damp with the water he'd snatched back from her. She was protesting mildly, but still seemed to be too achy to truly fight back. Hitoshi didn't seem bothered by the assault happening next to him, sipping his drink.

"Neito, you're next." The purple-haired boy realized as the medics rushed off with Bakugo and Todoroki. The clean-up crew came out as soon as the two teens were cleared from the area, beginning to pull chunks of wall away. Cementoss had what he could sink back into the ground, doing his best to help get rid of it. The blonde groaned.

"Come with me so I can copy your quirk last second. I don't need it running out before the match starts." Neito grumbled. Hitoshi nodded, glancing at Lillian. The two boys obviously wanted her to come, but she looked on the verge of passing out. "Will you be okay here?" The blue-eyed boy questioned.

"Y-Yeah, go ahead. I think I'll go... s-see recovery girl." Lillian shakily got to her feet, holding up her hand when Hitoshi and Neito tried to help her. "Seriously, go ahead. I'm alright."

"Are you... sure about that?" Hitoshi winced. Lillian nodded, forcing a smile. The pair of boys seemed unsure, but Neito couldn't miss his match. He also couldn't defeat Ashido without borrowing a quirk, unless he wanted to get burned by her acid trying to get to hers. That didn't sound pleasant.

Lillian parted ways with them and started towards Recovery Girl's office. She wasn't sure if Izuku was still in there, but maybe she'd be able to say hello if he was. Apparently he'd needed a surgery of some sort. He really messed his hand up helping Todoroki. It was honorable, but the girl really wished he hadn't gone so far.

Recovery Girl had to do a double-take when Lillian shuffled into the infirmary, pale, bloody, and sweating. How she'd gotten like this was beyond the older woman. Even Bakugo seemed surprised, hissing as the nurse finished bandaging his leg with a sharp glare and mumble about being too reckless. Todoroki was still out cold, his arm bandaged severely.

"The hell did you do?" Bakugo eyed her. Recovery Girl had been able to fix the arm he fucked up, but she couldn't do his leg without killing him or some bullshit like that. That meant he wouldn't be able to fight in the next round, or whatever fight they had to resolve their draw. However, Icyhot was no better. He'd re-hurt the hand Recovery Girl already healed, and he didn't have enough energy left for her to fix it again. Apparently it had already been in fragile condition.

Bakugo had seen Endeavor frozen. It seemed the more people she froze, or rather the more powerful the people she froze, the harder it was on her body. Based on the amount of blood she was covered in, freezing the Number Two Shitbag had left her in a world of pain. He bit back a grimace at the sight. His quirk effected his arms outwardly, but to have your organs twist and blood bubble up your throat? That had to suck ass.

"Froze the burning trash pile." Lillian confirmed with a wince as she sat down on the bed next to his. Recovery Girl immediately began to fuss over her, prodding at her stomach and asking if it hurt, and checking her pulse. Bakugo eyed her. Damn, that was hardcore. She looked like she'd stepped right out of a horror movie, and all to freeze Icyhot's bastard dad? That was dedication. Guess her murder threats weren't bullshit. She was ready to slit the guy's throat.

"Well, you look like shit." Bakugo ended up saying for lack of anything else. Lillian seemed too tired to argue, but she did quip back something that rather surprised him.

"Yeah, like you can talk." She ended up biting back, and it shocked him just a little. He knew Lillian was totally fine with murder and shit like that, but only to complete shit bags. Bakugo was only half a shitbag according to shitty hair. The guy was happy-go-lucky that he probably knew what he was talking about. Bakugo could get behind being half a shit bag, so long as he was a powerful one.

"You must really be out of it if you just said that." He eyed her. Lillian yawned as Recovery Girl planted a kiss on her, causing her body to slouch more. Recovery Girl then dropped an immense amount of gummies in her hand. Lillian didn't hesitate to throw them down the hatch, barely chewing before she swallowed them all. Bakugo eyed her as she cracked her neck, pushing some loose hairs from her ponytail behind her ears. Was this chick okay? She looked ready to fall over. Bakugo really needed to think of a shitty nickname of her.

"Th-Thank you." She sounded a little better. Had the blood been coming from her throat? "A-And you were really cool, Bakugo."

Bakugo scoffed at the girl. "Yeah, no shit I was." He snapped at her. She didn't even flinch, simply giving a small smile before standing up and cracking her back. He raised a brow. The hell was wrong with her joints? Did her quirk make her muscles tighten or something like that? He guessed it didn't matter. She'd stopped coughing up blood and looked less dead. That, and she wasn't even talking back anymore. Not that he'd minded. Not many people had the balls to say shit like that to him, half-dead or not.

"Tell Todoroki I said hi." Lillian's eyes scanned the room. No Midoriya. "Catch you on the flip s-side."

"Who the hell says that anymore?" Bakugo asked, a little sad to lose the company, but not about to admit it. Lillian was a bit too nervous in general to provide conversation anyway. Unless she was on the verge of death that is, in which case it seemed she lost all sense of self-preservation.

"Me, apparently." Lillian mumbled so quietly he barely heard. And then she was gone, shuffling out of the room like she wanted nothing more than to sleep. He grumbled some curses, settling back against his pillows. His eyes strayed over to Icyhot. Not like Bakugo could really talk to him while he was in this state.

"And the winner is Neito Monoma!" Lillian heard as she walked down the hall. She immediately changed her path, heading towards where Neito was. Her match was next anyway. Hopefully she wouldn't just pass out from exhaustion. Her mind felt so sluggish, even after the healing. At least the ache permeating her stomach, lungs, and throat was gone. Though she did feel like she could sleep ten years and still be tired.

"You look better." Hitoshi said. Lillian offered a weak smile.

"S-Sorry I missed your match, Neito. I'm sure you did amazing as usual." Lillian apologized. Neito looked affronted. Completely taken aback. Lillian was momentarily afraid she'd offended him by missing it. At least until he thwacked her over the head with a loud scoff that made him sound vaguely like Mihoko.

"Don't apologize for taking care of yourself." He demanded. "What would we have done if you passed out or died in the stands?"

"Screamed?" Hitoshi suggested.

"Exactly. And nobody wants to hear that." Neito patted her on the shoulder. "Now, go get em, tiger."

Lillian snorted at them, but jogged to the gate anyway. She felt winded by the time she got there. Was she really that beat down? She shook her head. It didn't matter. She could do this! It was Tokoyami and Dark Shadow. She'd frozen them before during training, though it hadn't been on purpose. With all the sunlight, Dark Shadow wouldn't even be as powerful either.

"From Class 1-A, we have Fumikage Tokoyami!" Mic announced with a grin. "Also from 1-A, we have- Lillian, why are you covered in blood again?! Holy sh-"

"Language." Aizawa hissed at him, though he was also taken aback. He had seen her in the new uniform, just fine! What the hell was she doing to cause her to look like... well, like this?! She looked like she had cancer. Her ponytail was falling out, and the bags under her eyes were dark as ever. She seemed to have gotten paler somehow. How that was humanely possible, he had no idea.

Mic was worried. Was Lillian going to die from blood loss before Aizawa got the chance to know she was his daughter? Because if so, the blonde should tell him now before that happened. Seriously, the kid looked like she'd had a bucket of it dumped down her front. He fidgeted. Should he call intermission? Was she okay? Was Aizawa okay? Oh my god, he was going to panic.

"Right... are you both ready?" Midnight glanced at Lillian in an unsure manner. Even Tokoyami looked hesitant, taking in Lillian's bloody appearance with a clear grimace. Lillian gave a shrug and a tired nod, offering a weak smile. Her eyes strayed to 1-A's seating area. Izuku waved to her, and she waved back with clear relief. At least he was okay.

"Alright, begin!" Midnight announced. Dark shadow sprung forth, shooting for Lillian. The girl stepped to the side so Tokoyami was also in view, blinking before the being could reach her. Immediately, she felt her eyes begin to itch as she moved towards the frozen boy. The crowd cheered as she grabbed him by the arm and began to drag him towards the edge. Aizawa felt himself grin, his worry fading away slightly. Midnight shook her head in an exasperated sort of way. Fast as expected.

"Lillian is the winner!"
