Chapter 65

Third person pov

"Hurricane Katrina? More like Hurricane Tortilla!" Neito said in a girlish tone as Uraraka rained rubble down upon Bakugo, who barely managed to deflect it with large explosions that no doubt hurt his hands. Aizawa had stolen the microphone and lectured a bunch of heroes on why Bakugo wasn't being a dick and playing with her, he was simply respecting her and her ability. It was pretty much all the commentary the dark-haired man had given, but Hitoshi had gasped in awe anyway.

"My dick is stuck in a Pringles can." Lillian muttered. Hitoshi raised a brow.

"What flavor?" Hitoshi asked, eyeing the blood covering her uniform.

"Sour cream and onion-" She coughed.

"Wait, shit, are they done? She just fell over y'all, that mean's I'm next. I don't want to die a virgin." Neito realized with clear horror. He was going up against Kirishima, one of the most manly men he'd ever come across. Even manlier than TetsuTetsu. How could he even counter that? Was copying someone else's quirk beforehand allowed? If so, he could just take Hitoshi's or Lillian's. Either would do the trick in this situation.

"Uraraka is K.O. Bakugo advances to the next round!" Midnight announced after checking over the girl. Lillian leaned forward, brow furrowing with concern. She hoped her friend was alright, but she was once again faced with an issue. She didn't want to miss Neito's match. Her eyes shifted to the entrance of 1-B's seating area as Iida briskly walked by, and she relaxed a little. He was heading to see her.

"Get up, you pansy ass. Take my quirk in case you can use it." Hitoshi said, shoving Neito from his seat. Lillian also offered her hand, letting the nervous teen borrow her quirk for himself. She gave what she hoped was an encouraging smile as he took a deep breath and shook his hands out. He was clearly loaded up with nerves, but he was also determined.

"Cheer for me." Neito proclaimed. "Lillian, you're perfect and I adore you. Hitoshi, I love you more than life itself. Play Cuban Pete at my funeral."

"Shut the hell up. You're not going to die." Hitoshi rolled his eyes at the dramatic blonde.

"Y-You'll do great, Neito! W-We'll be cheering for you the who time." Lillian assured with a smile. Neito groaned loudly, but excited the seating area anyway. The pair waved, both of them wondering where Todoroki was and if he was okay. They still had eyes on Endeavor, which was one of the main reasons they hadn't sniffed him out like bloodhounds they just so happened to be.

"You think he can use our quirks?" Hitoshi asked her. Lillian frowned, not sure. Bringing something from the outside into the test didn't seem like it was fair. However, it was a natural part of his quirk as well. Not letting him use that wouldn't be all that cool. It would be like not allowing Iida to chug orange juice to fuel his engines, or not allowing Lillian to use eye drops so she could sustain her power longer. Or, or, not letting Koda call upon animals to help him during the different events.

"I-I hope so. Hopefully he doesn't chicken out and actually asks." Lillian peeked down her shirt. Yeet peered back up at her, seeming rather content. She let her collar go. She was glad the blood hadn't soaked through the material and disturbed him in any way.

"Yeah, I'll drop kick him into next week if he doesn't make it to the final round." Hitoshi grumbled, crossing his arms over his chest as the rubble created by Ochako and Bakugo's match was cleared. Lillian would have to congratulate the boy later. It wasn't something she would have done previously, but they were in the same squad now, so she had an obligation to. She'd also have to go hunt down Ochako as soon as she could.

"Alright, alright!" Mic crowed. "For our next match, with have Eijiro Kirishima from class 1-A, looking determined as ever!"

Kirishima stepped out with a sharp-toothed grin plastered on his face, and Lillian couldn't help but sigh a little. He was seriously the purest one in their class at this rate. Well... excusing maybe Midoriya, though he did spend most of his time writing out detailed plans on how to destroy his classmates on the battle field. Lillian had no doubts he could absolutely fuck up the entire class with psychology alone at this point, seeing as how much he observed them

"On the right, we have Neito Monoma from Class 1-B! Don't let his pretty-boy look fool you! This boy's ready to throw down!" Mic announced, throwing his hands in the air. Aizawa grumbled, peering down at the blonde teen entering the arena. He was twitching, his eyes darting around nervously. To think he'd been one of the most confident ones during training, too. Shinso had held it together better. Aizawa snorted just a little.

"U-Uh, hey! I have a question!" Neito blurted out before Midnight could begin the match. "If I copied a quirk before the match, am I... technically allowed to use it because it's a part of my ability?"

Hitoshi and Lillian held their breath as Midnight put a hand to the earpiece in her ear, muttering something and nodding to herself. Kirishima looked a little nervous now, eyes shifting to where 1-A was sitting, and then to where 1-B was. Lillian gave a hesitant wave, and Hitoshi a thumbs up. The redhead looked reasonably put out by this as Midnight mumbled something else, clearing her throat and giving a bright smile.

"Because it's a crucial part of your quirk, yes! You are allowed to use it however you see fit." Midnight allowed. You could practically see Neito deflate.

"Ah, so god is real." Hitoshi noted idly.

"It seems so." Lillian agreed. Midnight raised her whip, looking between the two teens. Neito looked somewhat calmer. Kirishima was fidgeting now, continuing to glance up at where Lillian was sitting. She felt a little bad for the guy, but that was Neito's quirk!

"Begin!" Midnight snapped down her whip, and Kirishima charged. Neito let out a horrified shriek.

"I- uh, uh, uh," Neito panicked. "Chris, is that a weed?!"

Kirishima visibly hesitated. Lillian had never wheezed so loudly in her life. Hitoshi was coughing so hard she was pretty sure he was about to suffer a collapsed lung.

"Dude, what-" Kirishima's arms fell to his sides, his eyes going blank and his face going slack. Neito was visibly freaked out as he gaped, as though he couldn't quite believe that worked.

"I'm calling the police." Hitoshi whispered to himself. Lillian elbowed the boy as Neito demanded Kirishima walk out of bounds, looking as though his life had just flashed before his eyes. Midnight looked as though she were trying to rein in her laughter as she pronounced Neito the winner, and Mic was snickering into the microphone and Neito robotically walked himself to the entrance.

The pair stood and raced off to go meet their blonde friend as the next match was announced. Poor Kirishima was probably pretty upset right now. He hadn't really gotten to show his quirk off, so Lillian understood. Hitoshi seemed more smug than not as he captured the blue-eyed boy in a hug, pulling Lillian into it soon after.

"I almost peed myself." Neito whispered with clear horror. "I'm sorry we bothered you about Sero's elbows. I can see now."

"You're forgiven." Hitoshi patted his shoulder. Lillian broke off to wish Mina good luck as the girl happily bounced by, getting gaped at for the sheer amount of blood on her uniform. Lillian hadn't changed into a fresh one purely because she hadn't had her fight with Kaminari yet, and the blood would bring up her intimidation factor up by several notches.

None of them noticed that Endeavor had left his spot. They were inside the halls, so how could they? The man walked briskly around the arena and towards 1-A's seating area, where his son would be. He was hoping he wouldn't run into Aizawa's brat again, or that purple one with the odd hair who'd used his damn quirk on him. Endeavor might have gone to the trouble of having him arrested if not for the festival. Too much of a hassle.

Todoroki was sitting with his class, as was Bakugo. The boy was closer to the exit of the seating area, and turned when he heard the crackle of fire and the sound of hulking footsteps. He grimaced when he realized he'd seen Lillian and the damn Turnip race off earlier, which made... him the only line of defense between Todoroki and his father. He cracked his knuckles, eye twitching. Why'd he agree to this.

Bakugo readied himself quietly, turning just as Endeavor stepped into view.

"What the hell?" He immediately spat, voice venomous. "Who the fuck are you?"

Everyone turned, blinking when they saw the Number Two hero there. Todoroki immediately tensed, but didn't move to go to his father. Shoto didn't know why Bakugo seemed to annoyed, but he wanted to see how it played out. Could Bakugo possibly get the man to go away? Or would Shoto have to go off with him, and secretly hope Lillian and her friend intervened again? Relying on them wasn't something he should get used to, he knew. But it had been... nice, even if it was just for today.

"That's none of your concern." Endeavor glared. Bakugo glared back, palms sparking with small explosions.

"Yo, dude. Calm down. That's the number two hero." Sero whispered, nudging him. Bakugo ignored him completely. What kind of shitty father was this guy? Did he really think he could just get away with all this shit? As if. Bakugo wasn't doing this for Icyhot. He was doing it because this flaming bastard didn't deserve to be in the Number Two spot! He was an abusive asshole who belonged behind bars.

"I don't give a damn who he is. If he isn't a student, he can butt the hell out." Bakugo glared. Endeavor glared back. A few of the explosive blonde's classmates shared odd looks. Bakugo lashing out wasn't exactly uncommon, but Endeavor was a man held in high regard. He had many people's respect, and he was Todoroki's father. Speaking of which, the half-and-half boy wasn't doing anything but watching. Not a word escaped him.

Lillian, Hitoshi, and Neito all rounded the corner to see Endeavor standing there in front of 1-A's seating area. Faintly, they could hear Bakugo doing his job as a Todoroki Protector and telling him to fuck off. Lillian prepared herself to freeze him again if need be, even if it hurt like a bitch. It seemed she didn't really need to. Neito brushed his hand against Hitoshi's wrist, stepping forward.

"Oh my god, are you on fire?!" Neito shrieked. Hitoshi and Lillian both twitched, flashing back to earlier. Endeavor's eye twitched.

"Wh-"

"Go away." Neito's expression dropped into something flatter not unlike Hitoshi's had. Bakugo's head popped out from the seating area as the man turned around and began to lumber off in the opposite direction. Lillian gave him a bright smile and a thumbs up, while Hitoshi clapped Neito on the back proudly. Bakugo grunted, eyeing her bloody uniform oddly. Her face was wiped clean of any of the blood that may or may not have been there before. It clearly wasn't Endeavor's, but Lillian had made it clear she wasn't above murder.

"That was effective." Lillian noted. Her phone gave a ding, and she pulled it out. Her eyes lit up. Chad had arrived.

Lillian gave Bakugo a salute, snapping him from his staring as he tried to figure out if the blood was from a murder victim or if Lillian had just frozen Endeavor. The explosive blonde gave a grunt, glaring at the meme three one last time before disappearing. In the background, Ashido was announced to be the winner of her match against poor Aoyama. Lillian gave Neito a high-five, gazing distractedly at her phone as they made their way back to their seats.

Tokoyami and Momo's match was next. Lillian shifted, eyes going to the left side of the arena where Momo had stepped out. Above her, she could see a few men moving about, pulling something along. She recognized one of those men as Chad. How he'd managed to pull this off, she had absolutely no idea. But there he was, directing the crew of men as they set up.

Lillian mentally prepared herself. She could do this, couldn't she? It was Kaminari, and a chance she couldn't pass up. She'd been in front of this crowd the entire day! Sure, this was a bit more... well, the cameras would be solely on her and Kaminari. But she truly couldn't chicken out of this one. For the meme squad, Lillian would do this.

"Yaoyorozu is out of bounds! Tokoyami wins!" Midnight's abrupt announcement caused her to jump slightly, looking up with wide eyes. Her two friends along with a vast majority of 1-B turned to look at her as she began to seriously sweat. Neito shook his head solemnly and patted her on the back. It didn't really do much to help, but looking over at Chad as he and his crew exchanged nods assured her that they were ready.

"Try not to traumatize him too badly." Hitoshi advised as she stood up, rubbing her sweaty palms on the cleaner parts of her uniform. Lillian offered a hesitant smile, setting her phone on the seat before exiting the seating area and darting towards her exit. She could only pray this would go well and that Mr. Mic wouldn't draw too much attention to her. Though having him, the voice hero himself, announce her as she went on the field would surely keep her up for nights in sheer awe.

Kaminari was twitching wildly, and his friends were a little concerned as they sent him off. Nobody was too sure why he was so afraid of Lillian. Well, nobody save for Bakugo. He just grimaced at the electric blonde with what seemed like pity, shaking his head and leaning back in his seat. Even Todoroki looked unsure and a tad bit worried for the boy, frowning after him. Hearing Lillian flippantly say she'd murder Endeavor had certainly cast a new light upon her.

"Alright, alright! The final duel for the first round of the finals is about to begin. On one side of the arena, we have Denki Kaminari from class 1-A! Don't let his electric personality fool you; he can bring the heat!" Mic said respectfully as the blonde nervously shuffled out, very clearly nervous. Mic decided that was good enough.

"On the other side we have the one I'm personally rooting for: Lillian!" Mic announced. "Coming in second during our first event, and first in the second, she makes for a formidable opponent! That's right, everyone! Another student from class 1-A, but this one just so happens to be way better than the rest o- Stop kicking me! Why's she covered in blood?! Wait a fu-"

Aizawa glared, though he did twitch when he realized Lillian was indeed covered in blood. Mic glared back. Lillian hesitantly made her way to the field, offering Kaminari an apologetic smile that only managed to terrify him all the more. He looked like he was maybe contemplating forfeiting completely. Midnight raised a brow at him in question, shrugging and stepping forward. Lillian was one of the sweetest girls she'd ever met, so she wasn't sure what the blonde teen was so afraid of.

Kaminari broke out into a cold sweat. Blood. Whose blood was that, and why was Lillian covered in it? She hadn't had it before the finals, that's for sure. All she'd done during the cavalry battle was sit in a ice dome. He was glad for that. He couldn't have taken her charging at him from atop a throne of people. That was just too much. Somehow, this was worse. She smiled nervously from the other side of the field, the picture of innocence. Of nerves. Blood be damned, she looked like a normal girl. But Kaminari knew. He knew the truth.

Lillian took a deep breath. She was ready for this. Chad had aching to use some of his connections to help prank Kaminari, and now they could. He was an Uber Eats driver, that was true. But that's obviously not what he was going to school for. No, he was taking business classes. Businesses classes that centered around advertisement.

"Ready?" Midnight smiled. Kaminari took a deep breath as well, and Lillian readied herself as the R-rated hero brought down her whip with a snap. "Begin!"

Kaminari acted immediately, electricity shooting out at Lillian in a panic. She blinked as soon as she could, her breath catching in her throat from how fast he'd acted. Wow, he had to have been really ready to pop if he'd been able to react that fast. It made sense that he'd be on edge. Lillian was... well, Lillian. He was afraid of her and her Cranberry Sprite to a rather sad degree. The dark-haired girl would certainly have to tone it down after this stunt in order to save what was left of him mentally.

"What's this?! It seems Lillian has frozen her opponent-- and his attack!" Mic cheered. The crowd cheered along, clearly rooting for Lillian despite the immense amount of blood covering her. Aizawa was going to have to ask about that later, but would hold off stopping the fight seeing as she seemed okay. But was she actually okay? If she was hurt, Aizawa wanted to know. No, no. He needed to know. He was her legal guardian. Mic was too, but that was besides the point.

The freckled girl glanced behind Kaminari, and where Chad was. She saw him give  thumbs up and knew he was ready. Blinking at the itchiness in her eyes, she moved forward.

Kaminari's electricity had frozen along with him, covering the area in front of him in arches of lightning. Hesitantly, Lillian reached out to touch one of them. She wouldn't be able to get to him if she couldn't bypass his petrified attack, as it was pretty dense. The freckled girl was relieved when it didn't hurt her, grasping at it the best she could and moving it out of the way. She felt odd tingles shoot up her arm, her hairs standing on end, but there was no shock.

"How is this possible, everyone?! It seems Lillian is moving his bolts of electricity with her bare hands! If that isn't gnarly, I don't know what is." Mic was teeming with excitement, and the crowd awed at the fact that Lillian had the ability to rearrange lighting midair. Even Aizawa leaned forward. During their training, he hadn't even thought about how her quirk might effect others. Could she theoretically throw the electricity and then unfreeze it at the last moment, successfully using it as an attack?

Lillian made her way over to Kaminari, shifting until she was behind him and out of the line of fire. She glanced behind her at where Chad and his crew were working. She saw the Uber Eats driver nod just barely, and took a deep breath. It was time. She hoped Endeavor was watching, and she hoped he was terrified. Plastering a smile on her face, she unfroze Kaminari.

Kaminari took a moment to realize Lillian was no longer in front of him. The freckled girl and the rest of the crowd watched in absolute silence as he froze and seemed the process what was happening, hands twitching nervously. Her smile widened before she could stop it as he whirled around, golden eyes widening in horror. The poor boy stumbled away from her, nearly falling on his behind as he did so. Lillian felt a little bad.

Aizawa and Mic were both confused. Sure, Lillian begin covered in blood was quite concerning. But it wasn't... well, it wasn't exactly scary. They both knew Kaminari didn't have a fear of blood. The boy had accidentally cut himself too many times in home economics for that. It seemed his fear was directed more towards Lillian, despite the fact that she herself looked rather nervous.

"Kaminari." She said politely. Behind her, Chad and his crew threw the advertisement banner over the edge of the railing, allowing it to unravel. Mic blinked. What an odd time to release an ad. Lillian tilted her head. "The Chungus gets what the Chungus wants."

Nobody was quite sure what Lillian had said to the boy, but the blonde's reaction showed that it had to have been something bad. Kaminari's shriek of absolute terror echoed throughout the stadium as the large ad for Cranberry Sprite was displayed behind the smiling girl, rippling lightly as it settled. All everyone could do was watch with varying degrees of confusion as he turned around and ran like his life depended on it. Away from the large ad, and away from Lillian.

"Uh..." Mic blinked as Lillian peeked back at the Cranberry Sprite ad that had just been released, though an a less than convenient time in Mic's opinion. It totally interrupted! "Kaminari has fled the arena! Lillian wins!"

Chad adjusted his sunglasses and turned around. His work here was done.
