Third person pov

Lillian woke up with a gasp, her heart racing. Her head swiveled left, and then right. In general, her body felt... okay. Very heavy and a little achy, but her stomach wasn't twisting in on itself anymore. Her throat felt incredibly dry, but it wasn't completely unbearable. Just enough to make her tongue feel oddly swollen.

It was dark outside, and the TV was playing, switched onto the news. It was definitely a rerun from earlier. She blinked a few times, pushing some hair out of her face. It had been taken out of its ponytail, and she was glad. It meant less tangling. Her eyes shifted to the TV, and she paled when she realized what she was seeing.

"Just today the USJ, a rescue training facility build for UA students, was attacked. Police say it was a coordinated and thought-out plan of attack. Students were forced to fight for their lives until help could arrive. Here we see footage of Lillian Faust, a student in the hero course, using her quirk to keep her teacher's body frozen in order to prevent him from succumbing to his injuries."

Fuck.

Her parents had to have seen this. Her, vomiting blood over the side of a gurney holding her paralyzed teacher, sobbing. She was almost glad her phone was still at the school in the locker room. It had to be blowing up. Not only that, but... they knew now. They knew she wasn't quirkless. They had literally just said it. That footage had to be everywhere by now! Oh, god, were they going to disown her? They were going to disown her. This was it. This was the absolute end.

"Lillian?" A voice asked. The girl snapped out of her panic, realizing that she was hyperventilating. Hajime Shinso stood there, looking truly exhausted. She wasn't sure if that was because it was late, or if it was just due to his quirk. She took a few deep breaths. Was she crying?

"I-Is Mr. Aizawa okay?!" Her eyes widened, and she moved to get out of bed. The man immediately rushed over to try and stop the girl. She stumbled a little, eyes wide with fear. Had her teacher made it? Had her efforts been enough? The look in his eyes as she was pulled from the operating room still stood out boldly in contrast to the hazy memories she had while keeping the man frozen.

"He's fine, Lillian, he pulled through. But try not to move too much. You're still drained." Hajime sighed, and the girl sniffled. He'd gotten off work around... two hours ago or so, but he couldn't bear to leave his son's friend here unconscious. So far, he hadn't contacted her parents. He was tasked with doing as such. It was his job. But he'd gotten a call from his son, asking if he'd seen her, and begging him not to call her mom and dad until she woke up. The man didn't know why, but he trusted Hitoshi enough to wait.

"H-He..." Lillian wiped at her eyes, stumbling a little. She looked horrible, her skin pale, and her hair disheveled. Small tremors skipped along her shoulders as she tried her best to reel her panic back in. Hajime frowned, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. This poor kid had been through hell. All of those kids had, but Lillian especially. Holding a life in your hands like that was not something to be taken lightly.

Lillian stared at her hands, which quivered much like they had back at the USJ. Her teacher had lived. Hajime had told her it was going to be okay, and it was. He was alive. He was fine. She'd done it! She'd... Sh-She'd...

Mr. Aizawa was alive.

"I haven't called your parents yet. Hitoshi insisted I don't." Hajime spoke softly. Lillian blinked up at him blearily, her mind still rolling over the fact that even after all that, her teacher had lived. "Why is that?"

Lillian's eyes shifted to the TV where photos of the wrecked USJ were being shown. She quickly looked away. "I-I... they didn't k-know... th-they didn't know about my quirk." She whispered. Hajime blinked. He hadn't been expected that. "Th-They think I'm quirkless, l-like them. But it was br-broadcasted a-and... o-o-oh no." She choked out a little sob, shaking her head and burying her face in her hands. Hajime frowned, squeezing her shoulder a little bit. This poor kid...

"Hey, calm down. It's going to be alright. I'm sure they won't be mad." Hajime assured. "If anything, they'll be proud of you for your heroic actions."

"Y-You don't understand." Lillian wailed quietly. "M-My whole family i-is quirkless. C-Cousins, a-aunts, u-uncles. All o-of us- they don't kn-know and-"

Lillian was blubbering now, sobs wracking her body harshly. She was beginning to hyperventilate, Hajime noted with a grimace. This girl had just gone through an extremely stressful situation, and her going home would probably only make things worse. Especially if it turned out, for whatever reason, her parents were mad at her. He hoped that wouldn't be the case, but he'd never met them. He had no idea what kind of people they were.

"I'll tell you what." Hajime smiled at her, drawing her attention. "I'm off work now, so how about you shoot your parents a quick text to let them know you're alright and then come stay at our house tonight. I'm sure Hitoshi would love the company."

The girl flinched, her eyebrows drawing together as she gazed up at the man. Hajime offered a small smile, trying his best to convey how genuine the offer was. This kid didn't need anything else on her plate right now. "I can even call them if you want, though I don't think they'd appreciate a grown man they don't know telling them he'd invited his daughter to stay at his house for the night." His tone was joking. Lillian's lips lightly twitched up.

"I- A-Are you s-sure?" She whispered, fists clenching. She was... Honestly, she was terrified. Her heart was absolutely racing. What if she hadn't frozen things in time? Would she and Tsuyu be dust? Would Izuku still have his arm? It scared her to no end to think of what might have happened had she not pulled through. Would her friends have pulled through? Would... Would her teacher still be alive?

She didn't know, and it scared her. It scared her so, so bad.

"I'm sure." He handed her his phone. She took it hesitantly, offering a smile to the man. She typed in her mother's number slowly. Her finger hovered over the dial button for a moment before she opted to text instead. Her palms immediately felt clammier. With quivering fingers, she began to type out her message. Hajime waited patiently by, watching the TV in an attempt to give Lillian a little privacy. She appreciated it.

Hey, mom! I'm texting this off a friend's phone to let you know I'm okay (like, really okay. I'm seriously fine). It's pretty late, so I'm going to stay at their house. Sorry for not texting sooner! I'll see you tomorrow!

Love, your little Lilly pad

She included the last part to ensure they knew it was her. She really didn't feel up to talking on the phone right now, which she felt was reasonable enough, right? She just... didn't want to go home yet. She knew they'd want her to explain. Maybe even demonstrate, but she couldn't right now. She simply didn't have the energy. All she wanted to do was collapse into a heap and fall asleep without fear.

She shuffled to Hajime's car and slid into the passenger's seat quietly. Hajime jammed his keys into the ignition, eyeing the exhausted teen.

"Your teacher is stable and it looks like he'll make a full recovery." He didn't mention the possible damage to the man's eyes. "You definitely saved his life, Lillian. You should be proud. He'd be dead without you."

Relief flooded her face when the words 'full recovery' slipped past his lips. Hajime didn't say anything as she wiped her tears away, opting to stay silent as he drove them towards his home. It was only a ten minute drive, but it sure felt longer. Lillian simply gazed at her hands as they went. They'd changed her clothing store then hospital while she was unconscious, dressing her in sweat pants and a t-shirt that was too big for her. They'd left her undergarments untouched.

Hajime led Lillian to the door. Her cheap hospital slippers scraped against the driveway's cement as she dragged herself after him. He frowned. For someone who'd been vomiting blood earlier, she wasn't doing too bad. She just needed rest, and a lot of it.

He heard running footsteps the second he opened the door. It was three AM, but his wife and son still skidded around the corner like racecars on the track. The panic on third faces faded when they saw a rather dead looking Lillian standing next to him, hunched over ever so slightly in a tired manner.

"Lillian?!" Hitoshi rushed forward. "Are you okay?! I saw the news!"

"She's staying with us tonight." Hajime said, and his wife nodded quietly as Hitoshi panicked over his friend.

The girl blinked at him a few times. He looked vaguely like he wanted to touch her, but then he didn't, but then he did. Her appearance was pretty concerning. She was usually quite lively. Now, she was slumped over like a doll, her skin nearly white as a sheet. She had tears staining at her cheeks, and her hair was... It was... We aren't going to talk about the hair.

Tears welled up in Lillian's eyes all over again. "H-H-" she hiccuped.

"Oh my God, she's dying!" Hitoshi had seen her vomit blood on TV. Why was she here and not at the hospital?

"H-Hitoshi!" The girl wailed pitifully, throwing her arms around him and breaking out into sobs. The boy froze, as did his parents. Nobody said a word.

Nobody needed to.
