Chapter 137
Sorry for the metric shit ton of a delay
Third person pov
Izuku doesn't have any excuses. Only half-cocked explanations that sound pathetic when he thinks about them hard enough. Back in the heat of it, it had all made so much sense. He lived in a world that hated him, and that deserved to be hated back. He had suffered, so why shouldn't other people? Society was cruel, and hypocritical, and excluding. Why wouldn't he want to dismantle that? Why wouldn't he want those who'd hurt him to feel the same hopelessness he'd felt?
It was fucking stupid. He's stupid. He's not the only little boy in the world to grow up without a dad to love them. He's not the only one who has ever been bullied and discriminated against. The only one to be told they weren't capable of doing something. There are people who have it far, far worse than him. He's a child-- one who snapped when they were told by their idol that they couldn't achieve the far-fetched dream they knew deep down was probably impossible anyway! Like a kid who'd been told they couldn't have a toy at the grocery store. He was pathetic.
Of course All Might had told him being a hero was too dangerous for someone like him. All the hero had to work from was what he'd seen firsthand. A scrawny, anxious, muttering kid who had almost fucking ate it to a villain under a dark bridge. Back then, he'd had no muscle mass and could hardly form a full sentence without tripping over himself. He wasn't hero material and had done nothing physical to work towards his goal. Not everyone can reach for the stars and achieve their dream, and that's okay. There's nothing wrong with it. Yet somehow, Izuku had failed to cope.
He was the type to get mad at the world. He was narrowminded and jealous-- upset by the cards he'd been dealt, when he really should've just accepted his hand and played it strategically. He operated as though he were on the same level as someone like Kacchan, or even All Might. He was not less, but his abilities were not up to par with theirs, and that was a simple fact. He should've taken the hit, processed it, and worked around it. But that reality had been too sickening to take in, he supposed. Just... fuck, there were other ways to get his revenge without throwing innocents in harms way. It had just... it had been too easy, and All For One's deal had been too sweet for him to resist. It is a series of decisions he will likely regret for the rest of his days.
Even when All Might offered him a quirk, he'd still been mad. He'd found it hypocritical, finding out that All Might had also been quirkless. Pretty fucking stupid. Yeah, All Might had been quirkless, and he probably hadn't had high hopes of being a great hero back then. Because he'd been, again, fucking quirkless. But then he'd been given a power that set him ahead and he'd been able to achieve his dream. He'd been given a tool to do what he wanted, and then he'd decided that Izuku was worthy of the same sort of help. Izuku should've accepted with pure intentions.
Instead, he went in spitefully. He got into UA with ulterior motives, made connections, and built trust with people he didn't deserve to associate with. He got embroiled in this lie, and by the time he realized he had everything he'd ever wanted, it was too late. He'd had someone who loved him for him, actual friends, a teacher who wasn't a piece of shit, a mentor who saw him as a son. This whole, amazing life and future he could've kept if he'd just pulled his head a little further out of his ass! His tendency to obsess and hyper-focus had kept him locked into this idea of revenge. The look on Lillian's face had only been half of a wake up call.
He thinks his mother is what really did it for him. It's as though he hadn't been living in the same reality as everyone else before. Seeing his mother's grief-stricken, tearful expression had been a sharp slap to the face. It's like every ounce of empathy that had been shoved down into the pit of his stomach had slammed back into the rest of his body, and the lights upstairs had come back on. The realization of what the fuck he'd just done. The gravity of it, what he'd just lost, and who he had hurt. What had Lillian ever done to him? When had he started obeying All For One so surely? He'd said that she was a poison that had to go-- a growing threat because of her ability to freeze things-- and he'd just nodded along. As though he'd lost the ability to think for himself.
Maybe he had. Something in him had switched off when Kacchan told him to jump off a roof. If that part of him hadn't turned off, he thinks he might've genuinely done it. Again, it's not an excuse. Realistically, he should've recorded the abuse and then ruined Kacchan's chance at a hero career. He could've. A single email forwarded to all the hero schools in the country would've had him blacklisted from applying to their institutions, yet he couldn't see far enough past his own anger to even consider that option.
He'd hurt his mother. His mother, who loved him with an endlessness he could never even begin to comprehend. Shoto, who had suffered at the brutal hands of his father all his life, and who had underwent unimaginable pain. His friends, who fought beside him with full belief that he was on their side, wanting to save people. When had he stopped wanting to save people? When had he decided he had the right to hurt them instead? He had become everything he thought he hated, and he hadn't realized until it was all said and done.
He thinks All Might might've hurt the worse. The sinking feeling he got when he saw the heartbreak reflected in the man's eyes. All Might was someone he'd detached himself from mentally, even as they trained. Seeing him hurt was something he had wanted-- he'd thought the hero deserved it. He was a self-entitled, childish idiot. All Might had crushed his dream so he wanted to crush him. It was foolish. The dumbest motive for villainy he'd ever heard in his entire life. The reasoning of a spoiled brat. All Might was not the problem.
The neutral relationship had not been a two-way street. All Might had genuinely grown to love him. He was proud of him, worried for him like a father might, looked forward to seeing him, wanted Izuku to be happy and safe beyond his future in heroism. He adored Izuku, far more than Izuku had loved him in the end. He wasn't this otherworldly, cruel being who deserved punishment like Izuku had made him out to be in his mind. He was just a man. He'd devoted his entire life to saving people. He had rescued millions, and Izuku had put himself above every single one of those people and decided that he deserved to take All Might and society down. All because he disagreed with this man's opinion.
Izuku couldn't live like that anymore. It wasn't possible. He had to try and make things right, even if he died in the process. Death would be the least he deserved after what he'd pulled. Broken his mother his mother, a selfless man who cared too much for his own good, a teenage boy who'd opened his heart to him after being hurt time and time again, and so many more. Had tried to kill someone who saw him as a good friend just because she happened to be born with a quirk deemed threatening to the side he'd chosen to ally on. He was going to fix this.
He couldn't bring back the innocent he had killed, nor could he remove the trauma caused by the information he happily leaked to the villains. But he could do this.
"Brat. You escaped." Shigaraki's voice was still the same, grating rasp Izuku remembered it to be. The freckled boy stared as the man grimaced and wondered why he'd ever looked up to someone like this. Shigaraki wasn't very smart. He wasn't that strong, either. "Sensei... is gone. I think that bastard Eraserhead killed him."
Izuku cracked a smile. The kind that stretched from ear to ear, humor sparkling in his eyes. Shigaraki froze in his seat, and Kurogiri stopped his anxious polishing of the glass he'd been holding as the green-haired teen cocked his head. They both looked ruffled and tired. Not long ago, maybe that would've genuinely concerned him.
"Yeah?" Izuku's smile dropped, the few sparks he had left from One For All heeding his call when the quirk realized just what he was about to do. "Good."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chad, of all people, was standing over Lillian's bed when she came to. His frame cast a shadow over her face, and she had to squint through the dryness of her eyes to even recognize him at first. His stubble was starting to look less like scruff and more like an actual beard. His hair was ruffled as usual, shades set squarely on his face. The distinct smell of Mexican food radiated from him like it was a cologne he'd been applying everyday for the past ten years, just as usual. She can honestly say it was a surreal experience.
"God?" Lillian muttered out as Chad bit loudly into a taco, shell crunching in the most obnoxious manner possible. He flicked his sunglasses up, squinting at her as though he weren't sure she was actually awake. Lillian wasn't sure either. Had she died? Where is she? Why does it smell like pumpkin spice lattes-- barring the Taco Bell scent, of course. Wait, hadn't Chad been kidnapped with All Might last time she checked? Nothing here is adding up. This had to be another one of those weird, miscellaneous dreams she sometimes had that ended with her waking up in a cold sweat. No, she only ever had those when she ate Enchilada's before going to bed, so her only two options were wakefulness or the afterlife. Not confidence inspiring considering her track record.
"She's awake!" Neito's voice shrilled out, shattering reality itself with its pitch. Lillian's eyes popped open even wider, and she sat up so fast she almost headbutted Chad in the process. He stepped back just in time, because he's smooth like butter, criminal undercover... or whatever the fuck's up with him. Wait, again, wasn't he kidnapped? He'd been missing before Lillian got shot at, so something must've changed. Wait, that's right! She'd been shot at! And so had Amajiki, if her memory was serving her correctly. Yeah... yeah, that's right. Shit, this was less than ideal. Not at all cash money, if she said so herself. And she did. Say so herself. Clearly.
It came back to her in the blink of an eye, and she had to stop herself from physically cringing as it all crashed in like a tsunami wave. You got to a level of traumatized in which you just thought the entire thing was stupid, and her panicking so badly that her quirk had broken was definitely high on the list of 'dumb shit that's happened to me, because of me.' Huge L on her part. She really couldn't just take some deep breaths like a normal person? The fear had been paralytic in its intensity, but that really didn't explain all that clearly how, or why, it had stopped her quirk from shutting off. Her throat felt absolutely shredded, and her eyes felt like rocks that were about to fall straight out of their sockets.
"Freckles, you little shit! You scared me!" Bakugo's voice was loud, abrasive, and full of concern. Very painful for her pounding head. Lillian stared blearily, not able to do much more than sit there and take it as he grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her violently back and forth a few times. She was really feeling the love and concern here. Wow, she felt sick. She'd been shot at. Where was Tamaki? Was he okay? Was her quirk? She felt like she could still feel it, but a few slow blinks told her it definitely wasn't in function. Couldn't turn it off, now she can't turn it on. Pick a struggle.
It's not as though she had any other choice, though. Drugging herself up was the only option to avoid puking up her own organs... or whatever would've happened if that went on for too long. Even now, after the fact, she still felt like she had the period cramps from hell. Everything hurt, and her head pounded from the brightness of the fluorescent lights and the chatter that began to swell.
"Young Lillian! I'm glad to see you're awake." All Might's skeletal face needed a jump scare warning. Was he wearing a shirt with himself on it, holding a taco? Not the priority right now. Actually, looking around... there were a ton of people in her hospital room. Like, the place was packed to the brim. Sir Nighteye was in the corner with Mirio, and Hawks was here with a fretful Denki and Shoto. Hitoshi was holding a metal drawer for some reason, and Neito looking like a fretting mother that was, ironically, about to have a literal heart attack. Eri was here with Vlad and Dabi. Fatgum was hovering, and Tamaki was blessedly with him, looking extremely stressed but otherwise unharmed. Chad crunched more of his taco, smiling at her.
"U-Um, where's my dad?" Lillian realized, voice coming out dry and scratchy. Katsuki cursed, releasing her and scrambling over towards the sink to presumably get her water. This gave Neito an opening to swoop in and capture her in a hug, which she blindly returned, still too confused to quite process the entirety of what was going on here. This is definitely a 'where am I, who am I, what's going on?' situation.
"I'm right here, sweetie." Neito cooed at her, petting her head like she was a distressed housecat on the verge of death. Lillian sort of felt like one, actually. It was hard to think, and her limbs felt like jelly. She wasn't even sure where she'd gotten the strength to sit up. Must've pulled it straight out of her ass, because there's nowhere else it could possibly be.
"He's in the back of a police station somewhere. We were going to leave him a note, but we didn't have the time since my one good hand is down and Neito wasn't about to stop and write one." Hitoshi drawled, drawing attention to the fact that he was actually handcuffed to the drawer he had. Pretty much everyone turned to look at him, and Nieto clicked his tongue in mild annoyance, rolling his eyes as though he were inconvenienced. Dabi scoffed and rolled his eyes too, but more because his thought this was all stupid.
Lillian found her gaze drifting over to Tamaki. She could see his arm wrapped up lightly, which made sense. What he'd been shot with wasn't a bullet. It was a dart-- the same kind she'd stabbed herself with. That had to mean his quirk wasn't working either, right? He looked alright all things considered. A bit nervous, but when didn't he? She was just glad he wasn't as fucked as she was. Really, she'd done this to herself. She was really ruining everything, wasn't she? All their plans to attack the Yakuza had to be super messed up now that she'd been hospitalized. They'd had everything laid out, only for her to overreact.
Katsuki bodily shoved Neito out of the way, all but shoving a glass of water in her face. Lillian took it with shaky hands, leaning away when the undead blonde hissed and growled, swiping at Bakugo like a feral cat. Katsuki bared his teeth back, for the record, so he was no better than his now-attacker. Lillian sipped at her drink, eyes ticking over to where Chad was. He was still eating his taco, seeming unconcerned. In fact, nobody seemed all that worried about whatever the fuck was happening. Nighteye was annoyed if nothing else, and Hawks seemed like he needed a nap. Dealing with Shoto and Kaminari would do that. Dabi was in the same boat, leaning up against the wall near Eri and watching the entire thing with that same, quiet, condescending attitude he always seemed to have. No shade.
"So you're basically saying he doesn't know she's here?" Mirio asked, voice way too chipper for the given situation. Good for him for having optimism, but also he could go away. Lillian was in the mood for a pity party, not whatever sunshine-deluxe he liked to commonly dish up anytime they were in the same vicinity. Yet another reason she'd chosen to go with Fatgum and send Katsuki to deal with Nighteye instead. At least Amajiki was relatable. Mirio was just otherworldly. Like All Might's hero persona, but 24/7 with no breaks.
"That's exactly what he's saying." Shoto responded blandly, not looking up from his phone. Kaminari was obnoxiously leaning into the half-and-half boy's side to peer at the screen, watching with big eyes as though he'd never seen anything like it. He probably hadn't, actually. Shoto's scores were genuinely out of this world. If being a hero didn't work out, he should start a Youtube channel. Maybe stream on Twitch a bit. Bonus points were that he was hot, so he'd get tons of views. "Anyway, are we still going after the Yakuza? Or is that not a thing anymore?"
Lillian cringed a bit, especially when Chad's brows shot up. Yeah, they were sort of going to do it behind his back, but he'd been kidnapped before they could clue him in, in their defense. And their plan had been pretty solid before she got shot. Band together, charge in like badasses, wipe Chisaki and his side pieces out forever. This whole getting shot thing came out of nowhere. It must be a no bones day. She knew she should've checked the forecast.
"We will not be doing anything. I'm not sure why all you young interns thought you'd be involved in the fight, but it's too dangerous. Leave this to the heroes." Nighteye's voice was sharp, stern, and super fucking annoying. Lillian stared at him with a withering look that he didn't look impressed by. Good. Lillian was in a mood and that mood said that everyone else could suck an egg. Except Eri, because she's done nothing wrong and we love her. "Leave this to the adults."
"We're going after the Yakuza?" Chad asked right after the underground pro said that, completely ignoring him. He raised his hand up, like this was a classroom or something. "I'm an adult. I'll drive. All Might, Brad, will you chaperone?"
Nighteye looked offended that this was being treated like a field trip, but Bakugo just sent him an increasingly smug look, smirking. He was sitting on the floor strangling Neito to death. Only Neito was undead so it wasn't doing anything, but you know. It's the thought that counts. Lillian met his gaze and sent him a small smile that he looked deeply satisfied by. Satisfied enough that he had mercy on Neito, who flopped onto the ground bonelessly. Hitoshi nudged him with his foot, seeming a bit disgusted.
Eri shifted uncomfortably at the chatter, glancing down a bit with guilt. Everyone knew she'd always felt bad about how hard Chad had to work to protect her. His injuries didn't help this in the slightest. He had never been kidnapped or seriously harmed before, so having him come back in such a state had to have jarred her, even if he was nonchalant about it. Eri still had trouble talking about her time with Chisaki, so the information she was able to give Chad without breaking down was limited. She had to feel like she wasn't helping much, even if she wasn't required to. She was just a kid, after all. As the victim in the situation, her comfort was their top priority. Chad had never expected anything from her-- all he wanted was for her to be happy, healthy, and safe.
"Yeah, of course." Hawks gave a thumbs up that made Nighteye look offended that he'd dare to accept. Dabi snorted a bit, earning a look of his own that he flipped off in return. Vlad backed up the gesture, making a weird chirping noise.
"I nominate Fatgum to go in my place." All Might sighed, looking like he was done with life. Guy had really fallen apart, huh? To be fair, Lillian too had been in a downhill spiral since Kamino. Cheers to that. They should all start a club. She was serious. She sensed some kinship here that could totally be built on. "My leg's still not up to par. Good luck. I'll stay here with Amajiki, Lillian, and Young Eri."
Fatgum looked like he'd had a spotlight shone right down on him by God himself, paralyzed. Nighteye turned towards the hero with an accusing look, as though daring him to agree. How could you say no to All Might, though? It was literally All Might, emancipated twig with a fucked up leg or not. There was no way you said no to him. You just didn't. Even Bakugo was staring at him, and like, it's Katsuki. He was going to become the Number One hero out of spite and then piss on All Might's grave for fun. But if All Might asked him to commit a war crime right now, he'd probably still do it.
Lillian and Katsuki shared a look. Hitoshi pursed his lips, seeming unimpressed by the entire thing. Neito was still on the floor, recovering from being strangled. As though her dad didn't regularly drop his corpse like a hot potato. They really, really needed to figure out how to bring him back to life. What did they have to do for that to happen again? Find out whoever had his other organs and get them back? It was like Where's Waldo, but Waldo wasn't wearing a striped shirt. Or was this more of a Horcrux situation? Yeah, definitely the latter. Maybe a combination of the two if you're feeling especially creative.
"U-Uh, yeah. Of course, All Might, sir." Fatgum sputtered out like the little (big?) pansy boy he is. Lillian and Amajiki both made a face at him, and Nighteye looked like he'd just been let down by his very own son, letting out a sigh heavy enough to crush a group of ten bears in top hats of various heights and qualities.
Eri watched as everyone began to get up and talk, little hands curling into fists. She knew they were going after the Yakuza, and she wanted to help, but it just... it scared her, even now. She hated that they had to go into danger because of her. Looking at Lillian and seeing her laid up in a hospital bed, and seeing Chad with his foot in a boot had her feeling sick to her stomach. For as much courage as she'd gained during her time with Chad, would she ever be brave enough to face Chisaki? She knew nobody blamed her, but that didn't mean she couldn't blame herself.
Dabi patted her head as Chad began to herd teenagers out the door, talking about how they were going to need 'more cars for this shit' and such of that like. Eri sniffled a bit, absentmindedly hugging Vlad back when the creature hunched over to embrace her. He cooed comfortingly, bopping his beak against her forehead before rising back up to his full height. Chad waved him out the door with flourish, sunglasses back over his eyes and grin on his face. Amajiki shuffled over to stand closer to Lillian's bed, keeping his distance as Bakugo hovered.
Katsuki was a little ashamed to say he was the slightest bit relieved Lillian wasn't coming along. She'd already been through so much, you know? It didn't seem right she throw herself into the thick of this so soon after all that had gone down at Kamino. They could handle this. She needed some goddamn rest for once in her life. It was one thing after the goddamn other these days, and she'd just been shot at. Again. They were probably going to get shot at tons while they were fighting these Yakuza fucks.
Hugging Katsuki was never not weird. Yet it somehow, at the same time, wasn't weird at all. Lillian really couldn't explain it. Like, it was the most unnaturally natural thing she'd ever done, you know? She gave him a few pats on the back for good measure. Chad was picking the lock on Hitoshi's cuffs behind them, which ruined any potentially-romantic vibe there may or may not have been. Wait, where was the romantic vibe thing coming from? Did she want there to be one? Right now, with All Might sitting half-dead in the chair right by her bed? Wow... talk about down bad.
"I'll be back soon. Don't flatline." Katsuki said gruffly. Yeah, she was definitely feeling the love here. He pulled back, glaring at her. Lillian appreciated his heartfelt gestures. His ability to court her would never cease to amaze her. Wait, who was to say he was even courting? Did he even like her? She looked like shit right now. Her ego was getting too big for her to handle. Katsuki, like her more than platonically? Funny concept. "I'll blow those bastards into the fucking stratosphere. So don't worry."
"Don't get shot." Lillian responded with a small smile. He sniffed at her, which seemed to be an sort of reassurance that he wouldn't? Lillian is getting pretty good at speaking Katsuki, but she's still a bit soft around the edges. Has to refine her lines, you know? Yeah, you get it. She watched him go, smiling a little when Chad swung Eri into his arms and peppered her face with kisses. He was genuinely such a good father. At least emotionally-- she wasn't sure how she felt about Eri knowing everything about guns, knives, and murder methods. Lillian wasn't saying it was a bad thing. Just a questionable one. At least she had confidence!
Chad plopped Eri down at the end of Lillian's bed, nodding to Lillian and All Might both with a grin, flicking his sunglasses back down onto his face. Nighteye, agitated that they weren't going to plan their Yakuza raid first, was gritting his teeth and all but frothing at the mouth. Lillian gave the underground pro a salute. After all, it was partially her fault. If she hadn't gotten shot, they would've planned this alongside tons of other heroes. Speaking of which, why had her quirk done the thing it had done? Did she need to get that checked out? Had it already been checked out? Would it happen again if she wasn't careful? Even if she did have her quirk back, using it again made her apprehensive.
The silence was stifling as everyone said their goodbyes and marched off to the battle ahead. Wow, they were really going out to fight the actual mafia right now. Just out of nowhere. Like they were going there at this very moment, a whole party, to go fight the Yakuza. She guessed it would be weirder to schedule it. Like to look at a calendar and say 'hey, don't forget, we're attacking the Mafia this next Tuesday at 1!' Or would that make more sense considering they're like, heroes doing hero things? Lillian can't tell.
The room seemed awkwardly quiet once everyone had left, with Amajiki shifting from foot to foot, All Might staring blandly at them, and Eri sniffling at the end of Lillian's hospital bed. This was quite the pity party, wasn't it? Everyone else going off to risk their lives while they stew here in their own self doubts and silence. It made Lillian feel like shit. She was supposed to be out there too, going with them and helping. But now here she was, quirkless by her own doing, completely useless. Amajiki seemed to be in the same boat, staring at the floor and appearing near tears.
Lillian shifted in her seat a bit, feeling a bout of self-hatred well up in her. Even Shoto was able to go out there and be okay, and he had it arguably worse than she did with the whole betrayal thing. Yeah, Lillian had been kidnapped and shot at, but Shoto had been so enthralled by Izuku. She had never seen Shoto love anyone or anything more fully than he had that green rat, and the revelation that it had all been built on lies had nearly broken him in two. He still struggled heavily with it now, his self-worth issues coming back tenfold. It hurt to watch, and Lillian wished she could help him more.
She definitely wasn't any help now, wallowing like this. The sight of a gun and she folds like a metal church chair. What was worse was that no one was blaming her! She'd somehow feel better if they got upset, but everyone thought her reaction was justified. Which maybe it was, but that didn't change the fact that she still felt like shit. Even Kaminari was functioning better than her. Of all people, Kaminari was not supposed to be the one functioning better than her. Speaking of which, Cranberry Sprite was apparently coming back... so maybe not all hope was lost.
Eri turned to look at Lillian, who blinked back at her. The girl's red eyes were full of tears, and Amajiki froze fearfully at the thought of having to deal with a crying child. Even All Might looked weary, eyeing her like she was a tiger about to pounce. Lillian watched as the girl wiped furiously at her eyes, reminded oddly of herself. She guessed that she was the most constant female figure in Eri's life, minus Mikoto perhaps. No pressure or anything. Was she going to have to give Eri the period talk? She was pretty in the know for a little girl, so maybe she was already aware of the hell that awaited her in a few years. Okay, that was off topic.
"They're going to fight the Yakuza." Eri said it very simply. Was this a trick statement? Lillian gave a nod anyway, still feeling a tad dizzy. "By themselves. Without us."
"Y-Yeah." Lillian frowned, glancing down at her hands. Amajiki now also looked like he was going to cry. Great, so they were all criers then. Aside from All Might, maybe. Lillian still isn't completely sure where he fits into the pyramid. He seems pretty chill, though. Dealing with Chad for a prolonged amount of time will subdue any trace of uptightness you have in your body.
Eri frowned, looking down. She knew they would probably be fine without them. They were all so incredibly strong, and with Chad at the front of things, there was no way things could go wrong. But Chad's foot was still hurt, and Eri... she was terrified. She knew they were after her and that, realistically, that meant she should stay as far from the situation as possible. Eri couldn't help but feel it was pointless of her to sit here. She'd come so far only to back down when everyone else was going to go out there and do what they could?
Eri could tell Lillian felt the same way. Lillian's quirk had been a big part of their plan because of its usefulness. Having it off the table put a severe dent in their plans, and Lillian knew that. Eri could see it in the way she shifted her weight back and forth. She was sweating, her hands fidgeting restlessly and her eyes occasionally drifting over towards the door everyone had left through. The hospital smell was pretty unbearable, and Lillian looked like she'd been tossed in a gutter by none other than herself.
"That shit. We... W-We should do more. Don't you want to do more?" Eri asked, voice quiet and tense. Lillian frowned at her. Yeah... yeah, she did want to do more. She'd fucked up and felt like a failure, and now everyone was going to throw themselves into harm's way. While she got to sit here in her cushy little hospital room and mope. "My quirk... I-I can still use my quirk. I just have to touch them once. I can be useful!"
Lillian still felt like she had the period cramps from hell, but she'd obviously been healed and could definitely move, even if she was effectively quirkless. Amajiki was down an arm but okay' though, he too didn't have a quirk. All Might was out a leg and also quirkless, but Lillian wasn't sure they were inviting him anyway. Were they like, friends now? Or something? Was he a part of team squad, or were they just gonna have to leave him here? She didn't want to tie him up and leave him in a janitor's closet, but she would if she had to.
"Y-You're just a child, and Lillian, you're really hurt." Amajiki stuttered out meekly, looking anxious. "I... I don't think it's a good idea. We'll just get in the way. I-Isn't Eri the one they're after?"
"I have a really, really good plan!" Eri reasoned, suddenly full of determination. "Chad said I couldn't come with him and I... I agreed because it's scary, but my sunglasses give me a powerup! W-We should at least go as backup in case any of them need help!"
She looked very determined. So much so that Amajiki couldn't muster up the strength to rebuke it. Thus, they instead all found themselves turning towards the only adult in the room. The sanctioned authority stared right back at them, because obviously Lillian followed Amajiki's lead and looked at the resident twig as well. All Might's expression didn't change. Having someone you thought of as a son betray you will numb you, Lillian supposes. Huge L. Imagine being the Number One Hero and getting fucking duped by a 5'5" fifteen year old who doesn't know how to tie a tie.
Lillian didn't see the harm in performing a little stakeout. A view of the fight from a distance, if you would. They could totally come up with some way to help if they were needed. They could even run recon if someone was injured! Did she feel like shit? Yeah, but she was sure half her friends also felt like shit, and they were still out there. Neito was literally dead and Katsuki was constantly on the verge of a mental breakdown. Kaminari was... well, you know him. Hitoshi was missing a hand and she'd already talked about Shoto and how he was doing emotionally. Not well, if you'd like her to summarize.
That being said, there were a lot of capable heroes there. Probably not her dad, because then they'd have to tell him about Lillian getting shot at, and no one wanted to deal with that. Even if him erasing the quirk of the enemy would be of great, great benefit. Especially considering Chisaki could literally deconstruct things. That didn't sound like something anyone wanted to deal with. Still, Nighteye, Fatgum, Hawks, Chad, and even Dabi were all very capable! Mirio too, even if he was technically still a student!
All Might let out a sigh, leaning forward a bit in his seat. He glanced disdainfully down at his casted leg, sniffing a bit. His successor was going to be there fighting, and it would be nice to see him in action. Plus, they could most certainly strategize some way to help if need be! Even if he was useless now, he'd been the Number One hero for well over a decade. That didn't mean nothing, right?
"Well, Plus Ultra, as I've always said." Toshinori gave a weak smile that Eri absolutely lit up at. Amajiki looked paralyzed. "How're we going to get there? Do you happen to know where this place is?"
"Well... I know someone with a minivan." Lillian admitted. Mihoko wouldn't mind being involved, right? She looked over at Amajiki, and then over to All Might. "Do either of you have a fear of milfs?"
Amajiki let out a squeaky wheeze. Lillian took that as a no and reached for her phone. She had some calls to make.
I'm sorry that took so long! As some of you know, Patreon's Early Access is two chapters ahead of Wattpad and I ran into a scene that gave me trouble because of the sheer number of characters in it.
Patreon is full of tons of readable content that's been continuously building. Here's some of what can be found on there:
-Early Access can read up to chapter 139
-Tier One can see several one-shots, as well as Freeze Forward: a series in which Lillian is a vigilante. It is so far 27 chapters long. Featuring Ochako and Dabi hating each others guts, Aizawa knowing he's a dad and panicking over it, and Lillian being online best friends with Shigaraki whilst Shigaraki tries to figure out how to dismantle the mafia before Lillian can immerse herself too far in the many cases of Trigger that keep popping up.
-Screwdriver: Part one of a two, maybe three part series in which Peter Parker is in BNHA. Featuring Rocket Raccoon flirting with Nezu, horrifyingly enough.
-I Don't Know A Shoto: a story that so far has seventeen chapters in which Etsu, a homeless girl, kidnaps Shoto Todoroki from his hospital room after he gets his scar and takes him in. Only now she's slowly accumulating more children. Now with Dabi working as a Janitor at Endeavor's hero agency because fuck him, Aizawa being an accomplice to three kidnappings now, and Tensei Iida being something between a housewife and sugar daddy to be entirely honest with you.
-In Your Shoes: one part of what will be a three part series in which Harper Rye from Mind Boggled and Lillian from this book swap bodies. AKA: an excuse to make Lillian a mind reader.
-Prototype, a two part, going on three part series in which the prototype versions of Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo find themselves transported to canon. Or: Akatani Mikumo and a way too nice, way too flirty version of Katsuki Bakugo.
-Freeze Frame AU snippets that include Lillian getting stalked by the USJ Nomu for some unfathomable reason, Lillian and Tsukauchi being best friends, Lillian vanishing for three months and everyone thinking she's dead before she just randomly reappears out of nowhere, and more.
-Draft snippets that include someone getting knocked up my Hawks, everyone thinking they're engaged, and then the League kidnapping her because they think she's Hawks' fiancé.
And another where in one world, Endeavor is a nice, single pro hero who enjoys his life with no children or spouse. Until he swaps places with his canon self and suddenly finds himself with a whole traumatized family and a general public who thinks he's a certified dick.
And another where Izuku and Shoto are hit by a stray quirk that sends them into a world where Izuku Midoriya is known as a villain, and everyone is against him as a result.
And another where Bakugo's terminally ill older cousin sees that he's been kidnapped and decides to use her penchant for technology to hunt him down. And then she goes to get him herself, because why the fuck not? Plus more but I feel like listing them all is sort of spoiling it at that point.
And like tons more idk I'm not listing all that shit there's hundreds of things to read in there if you're interested
