Chapter 130
Third person pov
Chad finally made contact, and Tsukauchi could've collapsed from the sheer relief he felt. Dabi practically did, dropping his face into his hands and taking a few deep breaths of relief. They were okay. Chad had dug a flip phone out of the center console of a car he'd stolen and put All Might on the line. You could hear gunfire in the background, but Chad's laughter assured them that all would probably be fine. Chad's control over the situation appeared chaotic, but it was most certainly present. Toshinori seemed relatively amused as well despite the precarious situation they were in. He reported rather earnestly that Chad had already unlocked One For All-- and with no drawbacks, no less! Dabi felt his soul leave his body at the news.
Toshinori managed to deduce their location from road signs. They were somewhere out by the countryside, driving towards no particular destination. Their main priority was going to be getting away from the Yakuza. Tsukauchi had no idea what to say. Toshinori had been incredibly distraught to find out Chad his quirk. Now, he seemed nothing short of completely ecstatic. Although quite obviously being shot at, he still managed to talk a mile a minute about the impromptu adventure he and his brand new successor had found themselves on. Tsukauchi was all but foaming at the mouth trying to figure out what to say.
He was glad Toshinori was able to smile and laugh after this. To find closure in something so tragic wasn't easy, but if anyone could draw that sort of thing out, it wasn't a surprise that it should be Chad who did so. The weight nestled deep in Tsukauchi's tired bones alleviated itself slightly, and he felt like he was able to breathe for the first time since they walked out of that stifling prison. Dabi looked like he could cry. It was to easy forget sometimes that he had married Chad. Times like these, it was apparent just how much the scarred man cared and loved his significant other.
"How are they that far away? They haven't been missing that long." Dabi stressed, running a hand through his hair as the line finally went dead. Tsukauchi threw his phone down, wishing he had some Advil to combat the massive headache he had coming on. The relief almost made up for the pain, but not quite.
"I don't know. The Yakuza is... complicated." Tsukauchi sighed, collapsing down on the other end of the sofa Dabi had been inhabiting for the past several hours. "I'm just glad they're alive and that they got away."
"Chad's foot is still fucked." Dabi pointed out sharply. Tsukauchi sighed.
"Yeah, well, maybe his new quirk will take care of it." The detective shrugged. "Not that he needs it. I'm convinced you could chop both those man's arms off, and he'd still find a way to kick your ass and fire a gun."
Dabi nodded solemnly. Vlad came hurtling through the luckily-open window to his left. Tsukauchi jumped slightly, but the scarred fire-quirk user didn't so much as flinch as the Nomu skid on the tile. Eri pushed her sunglasses up, hopping off of her perch on Vlad's shoulder. She looked tired, but she still stood with an unwavering confidence she'd sorely lacked when she first came into Chad's care. Tsukauchi couldn't help but smile at the sight of her tiny Hawaiian shirt and small, neon-pink crocs. He could easily see why Rei loved to babysit the girl. She looked as eccentric as Chad was.
Dabi sat up from his slouched position like a dead man rising. It was funny to watch him switch from 'I want someone to beat me over the head with a frying pan until I fall into a coma that I'll never wake up' to 'I'm an attentive father who has sensed the presence of my children.' The switch wasn't immediate, but still fast enough that it was enjoyable to observe. Tsukauchi turned away and pretended to clear his throat to stop himself from laughing when Eri pointed a water gun at her scarred ward as though he were guilty of something. He didn't even look surprised.
"Burnt father. Inspector gadget." She said it wearily. "I sense news."
"How do you know this?" Dabi sighed, stressed. Chad was much better with dealing with Eri. He was the one who'd made her like this. Dabi was excellent at handling her for a fair amount of every day. But for several days and a nights? She was about to beat him into the ground.
"I bugged your jacket." Eri responded immediately. Tsukauchi tried to choke a laugh back, holding his hands up in what he hoped was a placating manner. He didn't have much experience getting shot by Eri, but from what he knew, there was literally anything but water in that. She just put whatever she could find in and sprayed people with it. It was brutal. "Where's Chad? Is he coming back soon?"
"Taco phone." Vlad demanded in a menacing tone. Dabi looked even more exhausted. Tsukauchi swallowed a wince of pity.
"Put that shit down and stop acting like you're thugs." Dabi hissed, waving a hand at them. Eri didn't let up. "Yes, he'll be back soon. He escaped with All Might and they jacked some poor sod's car. Aren't you supposed to be in bed right now?"
Dabi gave them both a scrutinizing look. Eri and Vlad exchanged a look, backing towards the open window. Dabi's arched brow was all Vlad needed to snatch Eri up and tip them backwards out of the opening. The bizarre sight mingled with the lack of sleep Tsukauchi had gotten sent him into near hysterics. Dabi just leaned back in his seat and sighed, closing his eyes softly and praying for mercy.

They had to fill out verifying forms for their licenses to be printed out. Lillian chewed aimlessly at her pen's cap as she stared down at it. She'd filled every space rather quickly, but one blank stood frustratingly empty. The freckled girl was stumped, honestly. This was a dilemma she'd certainly considered before. Though changing her hero name this far in the game after becoming so well known was odd, she couldn't help but feel Frozone wasn't the fit for her long term. For all intents and purposes, it was fucking hilarious. A stroke of genius she would surely never surpass. It didn't feel quite appropriate for the gravity of what she wanted to do, however. There was something more she needed. A solid name that meant something meaningful to back her.
Bakugo sat next to her, entirely patient. It was unlike him. Kaminari was hiding behind the explosive boy once again whilst Shoto stewed in frustration next to him. They'd basically told him that he couldn't go by his first name and needed to pick something better if he wanted to stay in their allegiance of bad bitches. He hadn't argued, but he wasn't happy about it either. Kaminari had already broken the half-and-half boy's phone. He wasn't going to risk getting within arm's length.
Honestly, Lillian had experienced several identity crises in her time on this Earth. First with her quirk, and then with her name. It had taken her some time to figure out what type of hero she should be. Izuku's betrayal had saddled them all with doubts, and now Lillian felt it was more important than anything to have a strong name sitting on her shoulders. It was dumb, and it probably shouldn't have meant this much to her, but it was going to be permanent from here on out. As much as she respected Frozone, she knew there was someone out there with an ice quirk punching the air over missing it. It could even be one of Shoto's future kids, or Fuyumi's. She didn't know! All she knew was that she didn't do the name's origin justice, and needed something of her own.
A thought struck her, and she pursed her lips thoughtfully. Katsuki leaned closer to her to get a glimpse of her form as she scribbled something in. His brows shot up, and he pulled back a bit to get a take on her face. She glanced at him, feeling rather sure of her decision. This name wasn't something she'd ever used to refer to herself, but it was hers all the same. Assigned to her at birth and used during a time in her life she could no longer recall, Aiyako was a title she'd only recently learned to be hers. Age had badgered those memories into the depths and stored them away to never be seen again, but that didn't mean it hadn't happened. Learning her true identity had been hard, but Lillian Faust had truly been a fabrication. Though she'd made the first name hers and found the surname that was actually hers, she would always have been Aiyako first.
"The Freeze Frame Hero: Aiyako." Kaminari whistled from over her shoulder. "I like it! It has a nice ring to it. Not as badass as Frozone, though."
Lillian nodded solemnly in agreement. Katsuki seemed to take his words as an insult and set an explosion off in his face in retaliation. His scream was all Shoto needed to calm himself down.

"Chargebolt, Ground Zero, Thermodyn and Aiyako?" Hitoshi raised an eyebrow. He waved his stump a bit. "I chose Mindjack, but then again, Neito and I aren't going to have provisional licenses just yet."
"At least you didn't switch yours after establishing yourself with the public." Lillian rolled her shoulders. Something popped, so that was probably good. Kaminari seemed mildly disturbed by the sound. "I almost chose Pepperoni instead. Montero was a close second, though."
"The fuck? Why?" Bakugo hissed. Lillian gave him a mildly-offended look for his tone. The audacity he had astonished her at times. He looked at her expectantly.
"Why not, Katsuki?" Lillian asked. "If I'm going to go down in history, it may as well be funny. I'll have to compensate for for my lack of a cool name with my dashing personality instead. Do you know how hard that's going to be? I could've had a name that represented pole dancing straight down to hell and giving Satan a lap dance, but instead I chose my baby name."
"People can do hard things." Hitoshi said. Bakugo got the distinct impression he was making a reference. He'd learned a long time ago that it was best not to ask.
Katsuki still felt quite astonished, but in a way that said he'd come to terms with things. He had both his own and her hero costumes in tow, insisting he carry hers. She was still beat from the whole freezing Gang Orca stunt, which she had been praised for up and down by her class, and even a few from opposing. The wind gorilla had tried to inch his way over to say something-- to her and Shoto, Lillian really didn't give a shit-- but she'd warded him off with her extremely threatening glare. Sort of. Katsuki had also happened to be present, and he vibrated like an awfully hot coffee pot when he was mad. Lillian liked to think the scaring off was all her, though.
Lillian turned to where 1-A's bus should've been and froze in her tracks when she nearly rammed into a someone trying to walk by in the process. Her eyes connected with a pair of gold ones, and they both froze in their tracks. The freckled girl felt her soul steadily leave her body when she realized who she was looking at. Wearing the same uniform her sworn enemy-- Air Monkey-- was none other than Toga Himiko. Lillian had very clear memories of the girl being in the bar they'd been taken to, even if Lillian had been blindfolded for pretty much their entire time there. From what she heard, the girl was a mongrel out for blood who wanted to stab everything that moved for fun. Relatable in a weird way, but that was besides the point.
Bakugo couldn't explain the emotional roller coaster he went through. Whilst Lillian had been mostly blind for the majority of their time in the League's custody, he could still very clearly remember this bitch. She was the youngest member, and possibly the most unhinged. Barring Dabi, who was batshit fucking crazy, but Bakugo guessed he got a pass since he was technically on their side. Still. Anyone willing to marry Chad had to be on another level.
"Uh." Lillian finally managed to say. Bakugo's eyes went ride with absolute rage. Shoto and Kaminari recognized the girl vaguely, but Hitoshi was at a complete loss. Toga seemed a bit lost too, clearly not having expected to run into them. She lowered her phone from its place beside her ear slowly. Her eyes darted between them all, and Lillian heard her gulp just before Bakugo was dropping the cases with their hero suits in them and lunging forward. His sweaty hand grabbed Lillian's shoulder and pulled her back behind him. At the same time, Lillian blinked and froze the girl. The resulting reaction was not any of them expected.
Bakugo's explosion connected squarely in her stomach. Lillian's quirk tugged, but it didn't break right away like it normally did when that sort of explosive force was applied to it. Being so worn out over the past few hours had given it some elasticity, and Toga wasn't as physically strong as she was sly and flexible. This resulted in her being weightless, which in turn meant that Katsuki's quirk had a much more severe effect on her. Momo and Tokoyami were barely able to duck in time before Toga's paralyzed form went absolutely flying over their heads, letting out respective screams of terror in the process. Mina, who'd been taking a selfie with her new license up by her face, flipped her camera just in time to catch Toga soaring right into the side 1-A's awaiting bus.
Those who had already filed on let out shrieks as Lillian's quirk snapped at the last second, the blonde villain careening into them so hard it caused the entire bus to tilt and shake. Aizawa darted out of the bus, eyes wide and glowing with alarm. Mina zoomed in on the dent whilst Jiro cackled near heinously next to her. Lillian's hands flew up to cover her mouth in shock, and Bakugo slowly lowered his hand like he couldn't believe that had just happened. Shoto cleared his throat.
"Lillian, can I borrow your phone? I want to play Flappy Bird."
Lillian handed it over wordlessly.
