Chapter 115
Third person pov
Aizawa wasn't sure how they managed, but between himself and All Might, they were able to convince every parent of his 1-A class that the dorms were a necessity. Shota was almost disappointed by this. Almost. It felt like he'd just only moved in with Lillian and got to experience what it was like to live with her in his life. Now, he was going to be stuck with a bunch of other brats too. As irritating as that was, he knew it was needed. It just wasn't safe for them to live off campus anymore. A depressing realization, but a true one. They couldn't take anymore risks.
People had UA under a microscope. They were searching for any more fuck ups. If they had anymore, they'd probably have to shut the entire campus down. A student had died. It wasn't easy to come back from something like that, and they all knew it. All Might, Aizawa, and quite possibly Lillian were the only real reasons they were still running. All Might because he was still trusted and somewhat worshipped by society, Aizawa because he'd taken down the villain in the end, and Lillian because she was loved by the community and had gone through a lot.
"It'll be fine." Aizawa assured Lillian. They were on the way there with Bakugo also in the car, while Mic drove a truck after them with all their needed things. While the other kids would be getting normal dorm rooms, Aizawa was lucky enough to have Lillian's room be right besides his on the first floor. It was a little different and would definitely confirm to everyone that she was indeed his daughter, but he'd take what he could get at this point. Their small family dynamic was already going to be shattered. They could at least try and retain it just a bit.
Another wild card in this situation was Katsuki Bakugo. He and Lillian were side by side in the back seat. Bakugo certainly could've had his mother and father move him in. Hell, he even could've gone with Mihoko, who was graciously handling Hitoshi, Shoto, and Neito's belongings. Instead he'd refused to leave Lillian's side since the attack. He'd pitch an absolute fit at the first sign of separation, and Lillian would get noticeably fidgety as well. It wasn't a good thing. It was the first sign of what could turn into a very unhealthy attachment. It was fine to rely on each other for support, but not if it was going to cause extreme separation anxiety. Hopefully the separate rooms would help.
"E-Everyone knows." Lillian frowned, not looking forward to what was to eventually come. They'd added Kaminari and Bakugo both to the official squad group chat, and the electric blonde had reported back that it was all over the news, which they were all expertly avoiding. People now loved Eraserhead, hated Izuku Midoriya, and were putting Lillian up on a pedestal for surviving. The tragedy that came with Awase's death was sweeping across the nation. There was just... too much. Lillian didn't want to read about it.
"If anyone bothers you, I'll tell them to fuck off." Bakugo scoffed as though it were the most obvious answer in the world. Aizawa glanced at the explosive blonde in the rear view mirror with a slight grimace. The teen didn't seem to notice. "It's not their fucking business anyway."
"Th-They sort of deserve to know. I-I mean... I-Izuku! And Ochako had... she..." Lillian trailed off, looking more and more stressed by the second. Her phone had been blowing up since she left. Assurances from Kaminari, who'd gotten there first, that he'd explained not to ask too many questions. Neito swearing up and down that he'd practically live in the 1-A dorms rather than the 1-B ones, Shoto telling them he'd found some good mobile games to distract them all with, and Hitoshi saying he'd pull the amputee card to get people to go away if needed.
"Again, it'll be just fine." Aizawa said as they pulled up to UA's gates, though he wasn't too sure himself. "The situation is all over the news, so I'm sure they know somewhat what's happening. If anyone has any questions, they can ask me. Especially if they concern you." "A-Alright." Lillian took a deep breath, trying to shake off some of her nerves. She felt she'd been in a perpetual state of anxiety since the whole even went down, and she honestly wasn't living for it. She'd lost a friend, they'd all lost a life, and the world had lost a hero. It was heartbreaking, and Japan was left reeling. Villains would surely be rising up and to attention as hero society scrambled and tried to fill the gap All Might had left behind.
Bakugo wasn't all sunshine and rainbows either. He'd been living at Mihoko's since it happened, and couldn't stop himself from becoming shaky and somewhat frantic when Lillian left his sight. It was pathetic, and moreover, he didn't exactly understand why it was happening. He sort of did, but... he just wished it would stop happening. It was frustrating! Lillian was fine now. She was safe! He just... he guessed he liked to see proof that she really was okay in real time. She'd been taken away so fast. It could easily happen again.
Most of the class was already waiting when they pulled up. Normally they'd have arrived first, Aizawa being the teacher and all, but the man had insisted they all take their time. Lillian was glad. Trying to rush there would've probably made her cry. She was crying a lot these days, to be honest. Sad, but absolutely true. Fuck trauma.
The class was quiet as Lillian climbed out of the car, Bakugo following close after her like a looming guard. He glared at everyone with the same harshness he'd held at the beginning of the year, his arms crossed over his chest as he stood right beside her. Lillian appreciated it, but also sort of didn't. It was a weird feeling. She spotted Kaminari in the crowd, and he gave two thumbs up. Was he wearing eyeliner? It was a good look on him. Chad really could change people overnight, couldn't he?
For a moment, there was absolute dead silence. Lillian looked at her classmates, and they looked back. They all looked tired and saddened. Ochako's eyes were notably rimmed red, and her gaze was pointed at the ground meekly. There was an unspoken tension there. The absence of Izuku Midoriya felt a lot more noticable knowing what he'd done. It was all over the news, after all. Every student was now under speculation, save for the ones who'd been at the attack. Everyone was being analyzed out of fear that there was another traitor. This had to be really hard for them too.
"...So Mr. Aizawa is really your dad?" Jiro somehow mustered up the courage to break the tense silence, looking like she'd rather be anywhere else right now. Lillian offered a weak smile at the girl. Positivity. They were thinking positive! Dorm rooms! Uh... yes! That was... great. And stuff. Joyful, happy times. Hurrah in the house.
"U-Uh, yeah." Lillian admitted, glancing at the man as he slunk to her side. She offered a shy smile, to which he brought a hand out to pat her head. It was more reassuring than her dad probably realized. The class looked surprisingly shocked to see it was true, looking at Lillian like they were seeing her for the first time. "I'm sorry we didn't tell you."
"I'm not." Aizawa grumbled. Lillian gave him a look. He didn't look amused. "You have more dirt on me than Mic does."
"I do not!" Lillian burst out, eyes growing wide. Aizawa didn't look convinced in the least. Beside her, Bakugo snickered under his breath. "I-I mean, there is that one time with the-"
"No." Was all Aizawa said, his voice dry. It got a few small laughs. Lillian appeared mildly offended, turning to look up at Bakugo as though asking if that really happened. The blonde grinned sharply while Lillian's dad turned to address the class, looking about as tired as he felt. "Given everything that's happened, I'm glad we were able to bring Class A back together."
"Yeah! So we all got the go ahead to move on-campus." Sero managed a grin, immediately lightening the mood. Lillian felt some of the tension ease off her chest, especially when she saw Hitoshi, Neito, and Shoto join the crowd at the back. Mihoko also hovered nearby alongside her husband, Hajime. They looked sufficiently exhausted.
"It took a lot of convincing for my parents." Hagakure sighed, sounding exasperated. Lillian took a deep breath. Everything was fine! It's wasn't as real for the people who weren't there. Izuku turning against everyone, she meant. They weren't nearly as affected, and that was a good thing.
"I was pretty concerned about mine." Jiro admitted with a half-smile, looking to Lillian with a reassuring yet subtle nod. Lillian was glad for the support. The last thing she wanted to talk about was what happened. Everyone seemed to know that-- no doubt thanks to Kaminari speaking to them prior-- and were respecting it. Instead, they were clearly attempting to stay positive. It was a huge relief.
"It makes sense. You got the worst of the gas attack." Ojiro noted with a nod.
"We're glad to see the teachers got to come back too." Tsuyu added, drawing attention to Aizawa. He gazed back tiredly, not seeming interested. Lillian could tell just by looking at his face, however blank it appeared, that he was touched. Tsuyu continued on with thoughtful concern. "I was afraid you wouldn't be allowed. The people at the press conference seemed pretty upset with you guys."
"Yeah." Ochako joined in with a deep breath. Lillian managed a small smile, and she gave one back. It was a start. At least this was going well!
"I was surprised as well, but circumstances have changed." Aizawa noted drawly. Lillian glanced down at her shoes. She would've raised hell had they dared tried to fire any of her teachers. There wasn't a lot of swing she had in society, but there was enough of a fanbase looking up to her at the moment that she could've made some noise if she'd really tried. "Now, then. I'll explain how your dorm room assignments will work shortly. First, however... we haven't forgotten about the provisional licenses you were supposed to get during the training camp."
"Ah, yeah. I forgot that's what we were there for." Hitoshi noted, revealing his presence. A few people jumped, eyes flying to where his hand no longer resided. Rip in the chat to that. At least he could pull the pity card? Again, they were trying optimism! It wasn't working very well, but an attempt was being made!
"So much has happened, it totally slipped my mind!" Ashido seemed in high-ish spirits. The concept of dorms was exciting. Living with all your friends, independent from your parents, free of charge? It had to be any teenager's dream. Lillian was sort of looking forward to it. Not really, since she'd been living with her friends this entire time anyway. Sharing a kitchen with all these absolute mongrels wasn't going to be fun. She could almost hear Kirishima eating her food. He seemed like the type to do it without realizing.
"This is important. Listen well." Lillian's dad noted. "Kaminari. Monoma. Todoroki. Bakugo. You four are the ones who broke the rules."
Lillian's racing thoughts sputtered to a halt. For a moment, she just squinted up at her dad, who glanced at her briefly before doing a double-take in response to her expression. She blinked at him, trying to dispel whatever illusion this was. Because if she was right and this was real, her dad was really out here about to scold her traumatized friends, all of which had risked their bacon to come get her sorry ass!
"I'm sorry." Lillian cleared her throat, her eyes narrowing into a glare. "What the fuck?"

When Nezu had appointed Chad to be security, he'd expected a four-man team. Well, a two man team, a Nomu, and a child that is. Chad was well known and well wanted by the police force, though they weren't actively trying to arrest him anymore because it was sort of impossible to catch the guy. He was quirkless, yet had evaded death more efficiently than any human Nezu had ever seen. It was actually relatively impressive, all things considered.
Chad, who coincidentally was Hawks' brother, was known to have a partner in crime named Dabi. Fire quirk, possibly a Todoroki, and apparently picked up off the streets by the blonde man. There was also a child with no records that went by the name Eri. She was surprisingly prominent in the underground and happened to be pretty rich for someone who wasn't even old enough to open a bank account. She was best friends with a winged Nomu Chad had somehow managed to tame back in Hosu.
However, there appeared to be... well, a few extra Nomu than had been previously expected."This is the squad. I'm Chad, hi. That's Dabi; he's my husband now. Gang gang marriage, right? That's our like, kid, Eri. And then these are our other kids Vlad, Plad, Amad, and Skad. Don't worry, they're all really nice. Once speaks Italian."
"Rastrello." One of the Nomu said. Didn't that mean rake?
"...I see. This is unexpected." Where had the Nomu come from? Had he gotten them during the whole kidnapping fiasco, or had they emerged elsewhere? How could Nezu have missed something this big?! "Are you sure it's safe to have that many Nomu on campus?"
"They're harmless." Dabi was reading a magazine with Eri. She wanted more Hawaiian shirts, and they'd found a pretty good child's catalog. "Don't worry about it. I don't know what the fuck is up with Chad, but they like the fucker."
"What can I say? I have more charm than a chimichanga." Chad's sunglasses glinted in the light. Nezu could just make out his piercing golden eyes behind the lenses. His hair rose on end, unbidden. This man was dangerous. "Lillian is the main reason I'm here. She'd be real fucking upset if any more of her friends kicked the can, so I'm going to make sure nothing else happens. She and my other kids don't need that stress."
"They all have parents you know. Except maybe Neito, but Mihoko has practically taken him in already." Dabi said, turning the page. Eri quietly pointed to a shirt. That one? Dabi guessed her liking pineapple print wasn't something he was imagining.
"Honorary meme dad, you bitch. I buy them enough food to qualify." Chad flipped him off. The four Nomu followed the leader and did the same. Nezu stared at them all for a moment.
"...Very well." Nezu sighed. It was too late to back out, and they needed all the security they could get. "We'll have to introduce you to the students later so they don't panic if they see a Nomu roaming about. Until then, would you like to see your residence?"
"Question." Chad flicked up his sunglasses, pinning Nezu with a sharp and quite frankly terrifying look. "Am I allowed to come and go as I please to say, hypothetically, get thirty-eight nacho fry boxes from Taco Bell at two in the morning?"
That was an oddly specific situation, and Nezu wasn't sure how he felt about that. "....I suppose so, yes." Nezu eyed him warily. "So long as you bring your ID card."
Chad's grin made a shiver go down Nezu's spine. The genius wasn't afraid of much of anything these days. For Chad... well, he could certainly make an exception.

I DIDN'T FORGET THE ART
Xx_Azz_xX drew and illustrated this amazing picture of both Bakugo and Lillian. Her style is literally the cutest, and her illustration skills are beyond me. I could never. I love Lillian's hair. It's literally my favorite part. Their outfits are also so cute. I feel like Lillian would 101% force Bakugo to match her. Or Bakugo would force her... maybe it's a mutual thing.
AreinYuni is back at it again with some amazing art. She drew what she thought adult Lillian might look like! I've said it several times but I'm gonna say it again. I literally love her art style. It's my favorite thing in the entire world and just-- ugh thank you so much.
Insomni_shit drew this absolutely amazing picture of both Lillian and Katsuki. The illustration is amazing. That shading is just,,, it's amazing, we'll leave it at that. Thank you so much for this! I love it so much.
Guys, disturbedsquirrel does so, so much art for this book and for my other books. It's seriously amazing, but they do so much that I can't fit all of them into just one chapter. So please, please go check out their fanart book! They have some of their own amazing OCs in there as well, and have even done some small animations for my characters. Which again, is amazing. Thank you so much and I promise I've been seeing all of your amazing art-- it's just a struggle to try and fit it all. Thank you so, so much!
