Chapter 109

Third person pov

Todoroki, or Eliza for the purposes of this operation, had brought a night-vision scope. The expensive kind that he'd apparently stolen from Endeavor's 'hero stash' after the old fart got his sorry ass arrested. Neito had been able to see better in the dark since his death, but even he couldn't make out the exact details of what he was looking at. Of course, he immediately recognized what was before him. Something in him just told him and made it click. That, and it wasn't exactly hard to tell at a glance, especially when Neito had his undead-organ-senses tingling and pushing his thoughts in the right direction.

This whole place sucked right alongside the general situation. It smelled suspicious, like sewage and cigarette smoke. The ground was slightly sticky. Not from any sort of rain or even soda, but something else nobody wanted to identify. The air muggy and thick, just warm enough to be uncomfortable. This warehouse was suspicious as all hell. It was the exact place you went to get knocked unconscious by a middle-aged white male with pedophilic tendencies, and then dragged off into said warehouse to get sold on the black market. It just had that oddly specific vibe that Neito didn't want to deal with.

"Well, this shit hole is trashed." Neito observed as his two sisters-in-arms held him up steadily. Kaminari seemed to be acclimating well to the whole situation. He was still sweating a bit and looked ready to bolt at a moment's notice, but at least he wasn't shaking like a leaf in the wind any longer. "In the back left there's some... hm, it's not pretty, ladies. I'll tell you that much."

And it wasn't. The entire place needed a real glo-up, in Neito's opinion. There was junk lying around all over the place. Whoever the cleaning crew was needed to step up. The window Neito was trying to look to was foggy with dust, even with the night vision.

"What is it? What do you see?" Shoto asked in a quiet yet eager tone. Kaminari adjusted his footing slightly, glancing at his half-and-half classmate, who gave a minor nod back. It made the electric blonde feel a bit better to know at least Todoroki wasn't on the totally insane side. He was in the storm, but not at the eye. His level-headedness made this a whole lot easier to deal with. It made Denki think that, hey, maybe he could do this without having a mental breakdown in the midst of it all. Even if he was terrified, his classmates were on the line. So maybe he couldn't be the Kaminari they needed, but he could sure as hell try to be the Peggy.

"Nomu. And I think one of them is... is mine." Neito's hand flew to the left side of his chest with a grimace. The heart in there was aching, almost as though weeping for what it had lost. Neito had the heart of Jay's husband, who he was pretty certain had been turned into one of those things. On the flip side, he had to assume the same went vise-versa, and that whatever Nomu Kawashima Tori was stuck in also had Neito's heart. The man hadn't deserved to die. But with his husband gone, would he really have wanted to stick around? Neito didn't know.

A rather loud, almost mechanical noise sounded. Kaminari's gaze shot to the entrance of the alley they were in, his eyes going wide when he saw a pickup truck being lifted by what looked like a giant foot covered in what appeared to be latex. His immediate assumption was that they were about to get crushed by a giant purple villain that looked like a leg, but the fear was almost immediately dashed when he realized where he'd seen that shade of violet before.

"Oh, shit." Neito managed to say just as Mount Lady brought her automobile-covered foot down and crashing into the very building they were looking into. Shoto grunted, and Kaminari squeaked as the gust of air produced by the pro-hero's leg washed over them, throwing their little pyramid off balance and sending them crashing to the ground. Neito felt a fair amount of fear fill him. If they somehow managed to end the Nomu that had his heart in it, or at least had Jay in it, then he'd die. The connection between them would sever completely. The only thing that was really preventing that was that while Neito was undead, the Nomu was too. Though he was sure there were plenty of ways around that.

Best Jeanist, Gang Orca, Mount Lady, and several members of the police constrained the present Nomu. The happily dubbed "Schuyler Sister Squad" hadn't been noticed just yet, and Neito was carefully helped back to his feet in a quiet manner as not to alert the already on-edge heroes. Lillian pretty clearly wasn't here. It meant that the location Neito had led them to was wrong, and nothing more than someone else's heart telling him what to do. Literally.

Tiger had retrieved Ragdoll, who laid limp in his arms. Kaminari frowned, sharing a look at Shoto. Though Neito hadn't gotten to go to the summer camp that had seemingly triggered all of this, the other two boys had, and had seen what the pro looked like before. She looked so off without her costume and face paint. Though they'd hadn't known her for long, it enraged the pair to think of all they'd done to her. Kaminari's palms crackled, and Shoto felt his left side heat, and his right cool. Whatever Ragdoll had gone through, nobody deserved that. Nobody. Not if it made them look so lifeless and... and empty

"Angelica..." Staying true to aliases, Shoto grabbed Neito's arm. The teen flipped his wig, squinting as Best Jeanist called for the riot squad to ready transport. All the Nomu were reasonably subdued. Without orders, they sat there like nothing had happened. Save for one. There was one stuck in Mount Lady's hand, squirming and writhing like it was on fire. It was staring right in their direction, and letting out muffled shrieks. It's eyes, though beady, were scared and begging. Neito's own eyes widened.

"That has to be mine." Neito breathed, staring at it like he'd just met the twin he'd been separated from at birth. "Ladies... we have to get that Nomu."

"Wait, what? Why do we need a Nomu?" Kaminari blurted out in a low voice, his eyes wide. Shoto grimaced. Lillian wasn't here, but the heroes had mentioned All Might. If he was on the scene, Tsukauchi was probably there as well, and that would extend to Chad. It made him a little less worried about the freckled girl, Bakugo, and that other boy, Awase. However, now there was another issue at hand. He didn't have the full details, but he knew enough to know that Neito needed that Nomu to survive. Even if his heart wasn't in there, he was at least connected to it. If they found out a way to kill it, or if they managed to separate Neito from it by mistake....

Before they could make a move, the echoing sound of footsteps sounded. They were slow and deliberate, making everything seem eerily silent in comparison. The trio all turned their attention to the sound, wondering who this newcomer was and how they'd affect their chances of somehow getting Neito's undead Nomu companion safely into their clutches. Not to mention Jay's husband, Kawashima, was still conscious in there somewhere. At least to an extent.

"I'm sorry, Tiger. But Ragdoll's quirk was so useful." A smooth, rather sinister voice with a smirk to it spoke, ringing out like a death sentence. Kaminari tensed, and Shoto moved closer to his two peers almost protectively. Neito felt his heart turn to steel, and his mind cloud. Something clamped down on his chest in a panicked sort of way that made him want to turn tail and run.

D̷̨̡͖̜͎̼͠Ǎ̴̱̖̟N̷̳̜̤͉̈́̄̾Ģ̴̝͔̮̯͗̑͊͊́͘E̵͖̭̚R̸̤̜͉͚̠̺͗͋ ̴͉̜̇̌͒D̶̯͙̻̆͋̈́͐͒Å̵̼͝Ñ̴̲̩̓̿G̴̛̲̪̼͇͌͛̆Ȩ̷͖͉̅̍̎R̸̯͊ ̷̩̉G̶̘̞͈̱̰̖̅͝Ȇ̵̢͍̬͕͔͉̎͘͝T̶̢̲͐́̊̑̔̋ ̷̧̹̗̻̠̝̅͆̑̚Ā̴̜́̅͂̓̇W̶̹͕̦̥̠̎̀͐A̶̪̅̕Ÿ̵̗͚̖͓̼͉͝ ̷̨̽̚͝G̷̡̈Ě̶̦̲̽͘T̷̥̒͒̕͝ ̵̳͕̹͙͒́̈́A̵͚̼̯̎W̵͉̹̮̘̆̉Á̴̡̩̝̓̈̈́Ỵ̷͕̫̖̮̮͛̄͝

"I can't." Neito whispered, fear gripping at him. Shoto reached out and grabbed his hand. He grabbed Kaminari's in the other. They were by no means close, but they were stuck in this mess together for the time being. The half-and-half teen was afraid to let either of them out of his sight. If something happened to them, he wouldn't be able to forgive himself. He squeezed their hands. They readily squeezed back.

"I just had to take it. How could I not?" The man continued, seemingly amused. The way he said it was so terribly simple, as though he hadn't just implied he'd ripped away an entire part of who Ragdoll was. Neito felt his breath hitch. He'd heard of copying quirks, but taking? Kaminari and Shoto both looked mortified at the prospect. Neito was sure his expression mirrored theirs'.

"Are you with the League?" Gang Orca held firm, his ringed purple eyes glaring darkly in the direction of the approaching individual. They were coming from within the warehouse where the Nomu had been hidden, taking their sweet time getting to them. His steps remained leisurely and without a care, even as Tiger called for someone to get a light. The voice continued to drawl from the depths of the depths of the broken warehouse, casual in a manner that made them all flinch slightly.

"Since my body was mostly destroyed, I haven't been able to stock up on quirks." A shoe appeared in the light, and there was a pause. The heroes readied themselves, demanding they stop. The tension in the air got heavier, and the three teenagers hiding behind the wall felt as though they couldn't breathe.

Ṉ̴͍̎̉̑̍͊e̵̫̩̠̼͉͑͒̾i̶̻͖͈̼̅͌̽̎ť̷̹͚̳̜̟̙̎̎͗̈́̇ō̴̺̙͎̪̠̯͐́͝͝,̵͔̲̞̳̐̌͂̍̐̚ ̷̬̹̠̯͍̋̒͂́r̴̨̦̞̃͆͠u̴̯̅̄͝ṋ̷̢̨̛̖̻̑̓̀̌́ͅ.̵̡̛͋͊̉́̋

"I. Can't." Neito hissed back lowly, earning a concerned look from Kaminari and a worried glance from Shoto. "I can't. I can't leave."

Y̸̡̞̤̬̔̿ỏ̴͙̮̖̠͈͌̿͒ǘ̴̼̩̙̂́̎̐'̸̢̫̤́̓̾̅͛r̴̙͇̦̤̟͊̇̉͑͂̒e̴̗̭͈͕̰̭̓̆͒ ̶̻̻̙͌̑́̂̆n̷̢͍̫̝̠͉̐̀͋o̵̦̹̬͈͓̾͌̍̈́͘͝t̵̙̊͌̉ ̷̧͚͔͕̭͒̇͝a̵̬̝̪̻̳̒l̶̞̤̆̓i̶̡̧͔̬͇̰̎̇̋̑̔v̷̘͉̟̙̲̦̈́e̵̟̠͖̒̾̿͌͘.̶̧̛̰̮̈́̽̈́̏͒

The voice sounded sad as it said it. As though it had resigned completely. Was it Kawashima, or one of the other's he had stuck in him? He couldn't tell.

Neito took a deep breath, pushing his fear aside, and replied as steadily as he could.

"No, I'm not." He breathed. "Not anymore."

An explosion rocked the group beneath them, sending rubble flying in every direction. Only this time, they were ready. Neito copied Shoto's quirk in a flash. Before the rubble could reach them, a thick barricade of ice stretched over the trio, protecting them from any flying rocks, glass, and such of the like. Kaminari held back a yelp, pale, sweaty, but ready to step up. He didn't know what Neito's deal with the Nomu was, or who this villain guy was, but he if he could put his faith in anything, it was Angelica, Eliza, and of course, Peggy.

"Come on, guys." Kaminari's breath shuddered. "We have a Nomu to catch."

~~~~~~~~~~~
Today really wasn't Lillian's day, nor was it Awase's. Things were, in general, total shit. She wasn't trying to be pessimistic or anything! It's just that... well, she'd been kidnapped again. First she was taken from the summer camp-- that sucked, but at least someone came to get her-- and then she was abducted again from the location in which her captors were holding her! The only minor relief between these two events was her blindfold being removed and Bakugo not being taken a second time, but even that was fairly questionable. She'd almost rather put the treacherous thing back on if it meant she didn't have to vomit up black goo.
Gripping onto Awase like he was a lifevest at sea was quickly becoming a common occurrence. They grappled to one another as they were consumed by whatever they threw up, which was completely nasty and probably unsanitary, by the way. It felt like what Lillian imagined getting flushed down a toilet must be like. Only instead of water in the toilet, it's tar. She was sucked away before she could even process what was happening, and then splashing out of an inky puddle mid-air and landing on the ground with Awase.
Bakugo hadn't followed them. She'd met his eyes one last time before vanishing, just like she had at the summer camp. Hopefully he wouldn't hunt down a villain and get himself taken for her sake again, because that honestly wasn't a very cash money sort of thing to do. Personally, she'd much rather prefer it if he stayed somewhere safe. It's not like there were many outcomes here. Lillian could think of three. She either lived and got saved, got heavily mutilated and lived, but was crippled, or lastly, she died. Those were all the most likely ends to this.
She was afraid. Numbingly so. Her eyes ached and itched, and her heart was racing so fast she felt sick to her stomach. Her head ached from the amount of crying she'd done. She felt sort of pathetic now. What kind of hero cried like that? It hadn't been a very large amount of pressure. They hadn't tortured her. In fact, they simply sat her in a chair, put a blindfold on her, and had her listen to a press conference that got turned off halfway through because Shigaraki happened to be a dumbass child who couldn't handle the truth. Yet there she'd sat, letting tears rain down like her cat of twelve years had just died.
"Lillian." Awase wheezed out, helping steady her as she stumbled. She wiped her face off, cracking her stinging eyes open. They hurt so bad she thought they were going to pop or some nasty shit like that. Really, it wasn't a good feeling. What was an even worse feeling, you ask? Opening your eyes to see a floating man in a suit and a knock-off Darth Vader helmet hovering there right in front of you. Truly, it was terrifying. So terrifying she almost wanted to ask if he was going to reveal himself as her father. Maybe she would've, in another life.
"My apologies, Lillian, Awase." The man spoke. Lillian tried to stop herself from coughing, but she still felt like she had goo in her throat. Awase was no better, barely able to hold himself up. Lillian found herself switching roles with him and acting more as a support so he didn't topple over. He sounded like he was having an asthma attack, which really wasn't a good thing considering they were in what looked like a crater with no inhalers of any sort in sight.
Lillian opened her mouth to question who he was, how he knew their names, and most importantly, if he could make their deaths' quick and snappy and just get it over with. She was cut off before she could. More splashes sounded around her, and out came tumbling all sorts of villains. Crusty ones, unconscious ones, teenage ones. A nice variety. Lots of diversity. She was glad to see there was a lack of discrimination, because clearly that was something heavily important that pertained greatly to the situation and benefited it in several ways. It's not as though Lillian was panicking and going into a state of shock! Not at all! She totally knew exactly what was happening at this very moment and time.
"Master." Shigaraki rasped. Lillian tensed, and Awase stood up straighter. In front of them was the suit guy, and behind was essentially the entire League. That one guy who could make clones... didn't they capture him after crushing him with a minivan? Had that been a clone too? It didn't matter right now. The chances of getting out of this one alive were looking slimmer and slimmer, and Lillian knew that she'd have a hysterical breakdown if she let herself dwell too much on the possibilities. Making light of it helped, even if this was an entirely serious situation.
"So. You've failed once again, Tomura." The man said, disappointment lacing his tone. His attention had at least shifted off her and Awase. Whoever this Darth Vader Poser was, he was serious. Freezing him would only curdle her guts and probably make her eyes explode, if she was reading the energy in the air right. The guy had probably made the empty space they were standing in now. If they could level buildings, trying to stop them in their tracks was probably not a good idea. Suit-guy took a few more steps forward. "But you must not be discouraged. You'll try again. That's why I brought your associates back with you. Even this child here, because you judged her quirk to be of immense value."
Lillian's heart skipped a few beats in what had to be the worst way possible. Great. Wonderful. What were they going to ask her to do now, freeze All Might so they could kill him? Wait, they may actually do that. That wasn't good. If there wasn't consent, it was rape, cut and dry. Wait, that was for sex. What about quirk use? Assault? Yeah, that's right, assault. Cool. So, she was sort of hyperventilating. Awase was fading in and out of consciousness. He was wheezing like a dog who'd just inhaled pollen and wanted to sneeze but couldn't, so was instead trying to blow it out. It wasn't working.
"Start over as many times as it takes." The villain said, offering a hand to his disciple. "I am here to provide you with help. All of this... is for you."
Lillian took a slight step back, pulling Awase with her. They had to get out of here. She wasn't sure she had the energy to freeze the entire League, but she could try, so long as the knock off Vader wasn't in her shot. There was a good chance they weren't getting out of this alive, but she had to try. She had so much to lose now. Before, maybe she would've submitted to her fate. A part of her really wanted to. It would be a whole lot easier and far less painful.
Lillian wondered if Hitoshi, Neito, and Shoto were okay. If Izuku was, and the rest of her classmates. How was her dad coping? How about Mic, and Tsukauchi, and Rei? Mihoko, and Hajime? Chad, Vlad, and Eri? Hawks and Fuyumi? She had so many people in her life who cared about her. She wasn't a cocky person, but she knew her death would hurt them were it to come to pass. The same way one of their deaths would hurt her. She just about lost it when she found out Neito had been murdered, though her reaction had been a bit watered down due to the fact that he as still walking, talking, and making meme references.
Before Lillian could even begin to form a coherent plan of action, the man in the suit looked away from Shigaraki and to the rapidly approaching figure of All Might in the distance. He wasn't smiling like he usually was, his fist drawn back in a way that made Lillian pale. That shockwave was going to be nasty as all hell, that's for sure. She tightened her grip on Awase and braced for it. If All Might was here, then they had a fighting chance. That, she was sure of. The Number One Hero was strong. Or maybe she was biased because of how much Endeavor hated the guy, and how much she hated Endeavor. Details, details. He could punch things and they usually fell over when he did.
Sure enough, the impact of All Might hitting Suit Boy caused a shockwave of force that cracked the ground beneath their very feet. Lillian grimaced, putting her arm up and turning her back to the flying debris. She situated herself in front of Awase, who was still bleary-eyes from the warping and having trouble taking steady breaths. She wasn't sure he was supposed to get caught up in that. Him warping may've been an accident. They hadn't been after him to begin with. They'd wanted Lillian and Katsuki.
"I'll have you return my students, All For One!" All Might's tone was venomous. He was pissed, and Lillian felt vaguely flattered.
"Have you come to kill me a second time, All Might?" All For One asked, seeming amused. "I think you'll find that a little harder this time around."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Aizawa knew to an extent that his Daughter was popular. Mic had rambled on and on about the fans she'd accumulated during her time on his show. She was likable, sweet, and a hero in training. She had big blue eyes and a splattering of freckles, and messy black hair that looked more charming than it did tangled. Like it was supposed to be that way, ruffled by the wind rather than her negligence in brushing it out. She'd been one of the top winners in the Sports Festival, and her and her friend's performance had, and still was, taking the internet by storm as people talked about the trio and their compliance with one another even in a competition.

Still, Shota hadn't grasped just how many fans Lillian had. After storming out of a press conference on live television, the internet had sprung to life. Yes, they'd been upset over Lillian's disappearance. But they were being somewhat sated by the knowledge that All Might was on the case. Though uneasy and ready to hop into action, they still managed to stay calm and wait anxiously to see what UA would do and what the chances of Lillian being okay were. But when they saw Aizawa's rage and passion for his student-- who they didn't know was his daughter, but still-- they stood up right with him.

The news had picked up on the disturbance in Kamino Ward rather fast. Hitoshi Shinso was hospitalized due to a missing appendage, but his other hand was still perfectly fine. He refused to rest until his friend was brought home safe. A few tweets about how Lillian, his soul sister, was missing and in dire need of help, and everyone was rising to attention, ready to illegally use their quirks so long as it got the girl back. At one point, Mihoko took his phone and hyped up Awase heavily, which got everyone even more fired up. And to add to it all, pictures of an enraged Bakugo being dragged from the scene of a what appeared to be an all out brawl between some of the top heroes and Nomu by a man in sunglasses and a more docile Nomu with wings and a fedora surfaced. Everyone lost it.

As Aizawa darted through the streets with speed he thought couldn't be matched, groups of people emerged from alleys and buildings. It was almost like something out of a horror movie, the way it happened. As though they'd been waiting for him, they all began to flood the streets. Some were even in unofficial Lillian merch. Quirks were spun up and ready for use. Someone shouted something about it being illegal, to which many responded with 'What are they going to do? Arrest all of us?' Aizawa couldn't even complain, because it was a fair point.

Hundreds of every age, size, race, and gender came out and began making their way towards where All For One was. Aizawa stayed ahead, trained in this manner, but it didn't stop the masses. They had all gathered in such a short amount of time. Aizawa felt almost reassured with so many people backing him, but also... odd. He could feel eyes on him as he hopped across rooftops, his scarf billowing behind him. He could smell smoke. He was getting closer, which only encouraged him to pick up the pace further. This was his daughter. He'd die if it meant she could be safe.

"Go, Eraserhead!" Someone in the crowd must've either had a megaphone or a quirk that let their voice raise in volume. Like Mic's, but more low-key. "We've got your back!"

A news helicopter flew overhead, a spotlight flickering down and sweeping across the crowd before landing on the underground hero at the head of it all. Aizawa grimaced slightly, not really enjoying thi. Honestly, he didn't care right now. He had one priority, and she was in danger right now.

"Eraserhead, Eraserhead, Eraserhead!" The man with the loud voice started to chant. More joined in, raising their fists to the sky readily. Fire billowed up out of the crowd in random spurts and in random locations. One woman had legs that could grow extremely long, making her look like she was one stilts. Other's flew overhead or jumped. A few bounced, while others rolled. Some even slid, and looking back, Aizawa thought he may have seen a few of the familiar faces he'd seen during his time before UA. Back when he worked in tandem with local vigilantes and closely with the police. "Eraserhead, Eraserhead, Eraserhead!"

Aizawa wasn't one for the press. He'd prefer attentions stayed off of him as much as possible. But as of right now, he couldn't stop the wide grin from forming on his face as his eyes glinted red.

The villains... they were going to regret messing with his kids.
