someday everyone will find
their place in the world

THE FIRST LESSON of the second day of school was English, taught by Present Mic. Thankfully, Serena was fluent in multiple languages, English being one of them. As she searched for a way to unfreeze time, to keep her from dying of boredom, she would learn new things. Learning new languages was no exception.

"Now, which of these four sentences contains a mistake." Present Mic asked as he held a book of English grammar in his hand. Serena sighed. This class was boring her. It was so basic and so simple. It was, all in all, ugh. "Hey, look alive, people! Grammar rules!" the pro hero burst, pumping his fists into the air.

Serena didn't know how someone could have so much energy in the morning.

"Come on, guys! Lay it on me!" when no one raised their hands, Yaoyorozu raised hers from the seat next to Serena. She was in between the two students that, like her, also got in by recommendations. "Miss Akari! Which sentence do you think is wrong?" the said girl rolled her eyes but answered anyway.

"The relative pronoun in the last sentence is placed incorrectly," she answered, leaning her head against the palm of her hand. The whole class froze at the sound of her voice. Even though she was obviously bored, her voice sounded like bells in the air.

"Correct, yet again!" Serena was getting annoyed by how much he was picking on her to answer the questions. She laid her head on the table, doodling on her notebook as she found no need in writing down notes for a subject she excelled in.

Todoroki glanced at the girl next to him, Serena Akari. The girl that froze time at such a young age. His father told him all about her. Her accident was kept between the top heroes only, but of course, Todoroki's father would tell him anything if it would give him an advantage in defeating anyone. He was, after all, his father's tool in becoming the number one hero family. And Shoto Todoroki despised it.

The sound of something tapping on glass caught Serena's attention, as well as the rest of the class. They all gasped as they looked towards the window. "Look, it's an owl!" Serena sighed. She knew it was her Mystique looking for attention.

"Come on, class! Settle down!" The students ignored Present Mic, most of them rushing to the window to inspect the owl. It wasn't common to see an owl in the part of Japan they lived in.

"It's so pretty!" Hagakure gushed as the beautifully detailed blue feathers of the creature's; it's deep scarlet eyes soft in the light. Ashido, Hagakure and Uraraka all awed over the creature that tilted its head to the side, curious about the unfamiliar people in front of her. Kaminari, Kirishima and Sero all commented on how fierce it looked. It was obviously used to humans as it wasn't afraid to sit close to the window.

Hearing the gushes coming from the girls, Bakugo couldn't help but peek over to the animal, his eyes widening as he recognised its features. "Oi," he called, looking back at the girl who captured the hearts of many. "Isn't that yours?"

The whole class turned towards the girl who nodded, getting up from her seat and moving to the window. She opened it and watched as Mystique screeched happily, flying over to her shoulders and nuzzling against her cheek.

"Omg! No way!" Ashido excalimed, her eyes bright with excitement. "It's so adorable!" Mystique let out another screech, something only two people in the room understood.

"She said thank you," This, yet again, shocked the class, especially Koda, who sat in the fourth row.

"Wait! You can speak to animals?!" Kirishima questioned, his eyes wide. Serena shook her head, and he furrowed his brows. "But how do you know what she said?"

"Because she's been with me for a long time, I've picked up on her way of communicating," Serena answered, shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly.

"Can't believe it still hasn't died yet," Bakugo mumbled, although Serena did pick up on it.

"Funny," she said, staring at him dead in the eye. "I thought the same thing when I saw you yesterday." Kirishima, Ashido, Kaminari and Sero all bellowed out with laughter, their hands holding their stomach as they saw the expression of shock on Bakugo's face, who wasn't expecting her comment. Shortly after, Jiro, Aoyama, Sato, Hagakure and Uraraka followed, pointing towards the blonde male, whose shock was slowly turning into rage. Even the uptight people of the class couldn't help the small snicker that escaped their mouths.

"YOU WANNA SAY THAT AGAIN?!" Bakugo exploded, his eyes filled with rage towards the girl that ignored his temper tantrum and, instead, walked back over to her seat with her owl perched on her shoulder. "DON'T IGNORE ME, ASSHOLE!"

"Bakugo! No swearing!" Present Mic yelled, covering his own grin with his arm. Bakugo felt his eye twitch in anger; however, both he and Midoriya felt their insides warm a little. This was the girl they remembered from their childhood. Sure it wasn't her exactly, she was still cold and emotionless, but there were a few things that rose their hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could help bring back the old Serena. The happy, adventurous girl that brightened up everyone's day.

With the permission of Present Mic, Mystique was allowed to stay in the classroom, as long as she made no sounds. Serena felt a ghost of a smile reach her lips as the owl pranced around her desk, walking around to get used to the feeling of the smooth wooden surface. Todorki and Yaoyorozu couldn't help but glance at the girl that sat between them. Her smile, although barely there, got them feeling all tingly inside. There was something about her that entranced them and most of the class. Hopefully getting to know her would clear up the unusual yet pleasant feelings they felt towards her.

When the bell for the end of the morning lessons rang, Serena slowly packed up her stuff. She was in no rush to head out. With no help from Mystique whatsoever, Serena stuffed everything into her bag before swinging it onto her shoulder. "Come on, Mystique."

Seeing an owl perched upon a students shoulder shook all those that saw them. It was an unusual sight, especially since the girl was just as fascinating as the owl. When Serena walked into the cafeteria, she couldn't help the feeling of unease that seeped into her bones. She didn't like crowded places. Instead, she got her food and made her way out, deciding to go sit on the roof instead, where Mystique could actually fly around without them being scolded.

Serena, with her photographic memory, found the roof with no problem at all. She opened the door with one hand, the other holding the tray and making sure none of the food she bought spilt. Mystique screeched gleefully at the sight of the clear blue sky and flew off her shoulder, not that Serena minded. She moved to the side, going to sit against the wall when she spotted an unfamiliar purple-haired male.

"Oh. I didn't know someone was already here," she spoke, seeming to shock the male, who's head snapped towards her. "I'm sorry to disturb you." Serena apologised bowing slightly before turning to turn back and leave.

"It's fine," the male said, waving it off. "You can come sit. I don't mind." Serena hesitated for a second, her mind racing with many thoughts of him being a potential threat. Deciding that he was harmless, Serena nodded. She plopped down onto the floor, placing her tray on her lap. "My name's Hitoshi Shinso," he introduced, extending out his hand. Serena scanned his appearance, finding many similarities to her homeroom teacher.

"Serena Akari," she shook his hand, taking note of the heavy bags under his lifeless looking eyes. She recognised them as the eyes of a suffering person. "It's nice to meet you."

"Likewise." Neither bothered to make a conversation after that. They both came up to the roof for peace, and they were happy when the other didn't bother to talk. As Serena opened up the food she bought, her eyes moved to glance at Shinso. She noticed that he hadn't bought any food. All he had was a cup of fruits.

Deciding not to ask him, Serena began to dig into her own food, which consisted of a bowl of rice, another bowl of beef and some mixed noodles she bought because she figured she'd get hungry after hero training in the afternoon. When the tiniest sound of a belly rumbling reached her enhanced hearing, Serena sighed softly. She turned around, spiking Shinso's curiosity as she dug inside her bag. When she found what she was searching for, the blue-haired beauty handed the male next to her a pair of unopened chopsticks and the bowl of noodles she was planning on saving.

"Here you go," she muttered, startling Shinso.

"Why are you giving me your food?" he asked, curious as the girl placed it onto his lap. Serena shrugged.

"Just eat." Shinso couldn't help the tug on his lip, the corners of it stretching into a miniature smile. He didn't know how the unknown girl knew he was hungry, but he was grateful. He had forgotten to bring change today and only had the food his mother snuck in the bag for him in the morning.

"Thank you," he mumbled before digging in. The sound of the breeze and the company of the other bought them a moment of tranquillity in their eventful yet not so eventful day.

"We should get going," Serena spoke as she looked down at her phone, reading the time that displayed itself in big white numbers. "The bell will ring shortly." Shinso nodded and so, the two finished their food quickly and made their way downstairs, splitting up with just a nod of acknowledgement towards each other.

When Serena entered the classroom, she was met by the face of an angry Bakugo, and her eye twitched with irritation. "What now?" she asked as she made her way over to her seat, the blonde slamming his hand on her desk, not caring if it gained the attention of those around her.

"Where the fuck were you?!" he growled, eyes blaring with anger.

"Why does it matter to you?" she questioned, raising a brow as she laid her bag at the side of her desk.

"I was looking all over for your shitty ass." Kirishima snickered, standing in between the space of Serena and Todoroki's desk.

"He freaked out when you didn't show." Bakugo glared at the redhead.

"Shut the fuck up, shitty hair!" Serena rolled her eyes at the two, amusement shining dimly in her eyes. Kirishima's laughter only grew louder, and just before Bakugo could insult him again, a booming voice echoed in the classroom.

"I AM COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A HERO!" All eyes moved to the Pro Hero that had everyone beaming with happiness and awe. It was, after all, the number one hero in the flesh. Everyone's idol, well, mostly everyone's.

While everyone gushed about their new hero teacher, Serena couldn't help but snort at the steps he was taking to get to the centre of the classroom. "Welcome to the most important class of the year! Think of it as heroing 101. Here you will learn the basics of being a pro and what it means to fight to the name of good."

His words caught the attention of many, hooking them into every single syllable that left his lips. Serena couldn't help but feel already bored. She zoned out for a bit, silencing her surroundings as she looked out the window, wondering where her owl had gone off too.

The cheers of her classmates broke her out of her thoughts, and the cases with their assigned number on caught Serena's sight immediately. 'Must be our costumes,' she thought.

"Get yourselves suited up and then meet me at training ground beta!" As everyone rushed to get their assigned cases, Serena lingered in the back. She waited until everyone got theirs until she went to collect hers, only for it to be handed to her by Yaoyorozu.

Serena thanked her before the two made their way to the changing room. Although she would never admit it, Serena was excited to try on the costume she worked hard on designing. It took her a couple of days until she settled on a design. It was simple but effective, at least, for her.

The blue-haired beauty split away from Yaoyorozu, going to her assigned changing room locker. She opened her case, grinning as she saw her costume folded neatly. The girls in the room paused; all of their eyes laid on that stunning smile on Serena's face. It warmed their entire body to see those beautiful eyes of hers light up when she brought her costume out. It was only when she began to strip did they avert their eyes, all of them blushing madly.

As Serena slipped on her costume, oblivious to all the attention she was getting, she couldn't help but feel like running around and squealing. However, she advised herself against that. She'd just do it internally.

"Wow! You look amazing, Akari-chan!" Uraraka complimented as she glanced back at the girl who was adding the final touches to her costume.

"Thank you," she mumbled, a soft blush searing onto her cheek. Uraraka couldn't help the giggle that escaped her mouth at Serena's reaction. 'She's so cute.'

Serena's hero costume consisted of a blue coloured jumpsuit that ended just a few inches below her butt. The arm-length sleeves of her jumpsuit were made out of a black translucent fabric that allowed her to use her ice quirk more freely.

The drawbacks of Serena's time quirk was time limit. She could only freeze time for up to ten minutes a day so far - over the years, she managed to push the limit from 3 to 10. Her drawback for her ice quirk was restriction, meaning that she needed to expose more skin if she wished to use her ice quirk to its full potential. It's why her outfit was very revealing. It was so she could use her ice quirk easily. Her thigh-high tights were thin and ripped to allow more of her body exposed while the belt just added a contrast to her jumpsuit.

Serena wasn't aware of the stares she received from her female classmates as she left the changing rooms. All of them couldn't help but feel their heartbeat erratically. She looked so fucking beautiful.

"S-Serena!" Midoriya blushed deeply when he spotted his childhood friend in her costume. The rest of the guys all turned towards the girl, all of them having the same reaction as Midroiya, with Kaminari and Mineta having nose bleeds. Her blue hair and eyes were brought out by the colour of her jumpsuit. Her costume matched her perfectly.

"They say the clothes make the Pros, young ladies and gentlemen!" All Might said as the rest of the students piled into the training centre. "And behold! You are the proof! Take this to heart. From now on, you are all heroes in training!"

Serena stood with the rest of the class, her face now void of emotion. Although she was excited to finally wear her costume, she was also beginning to get very bored. Her mind was drained for the day. Serena couldn't help but think back to lunch today. She liked sitting with Shinso on the roof. She hoped that he would be there tomorrow because she certainly would be.

Seeing All Might shake with laughter had Serena become curious. She looked over in the direction he was looking at and saw Midoriya in his costume. She couldn't help the silent snicker that escaped her lips. His costume was obviously inspired by All Might, even though he looked more like a green bunny than the actual hero.

"Now that you're ready," started All Might after he regained himself. "It's time for combat training."

"Sir!" came the voice of Tenya Iida dressed in his almost robotic costume. "This is the fake city from our entrance exam. Does this mean we'll be conducting Urban battles again?"

"Not quite!" All Might answered. "I'm gonna move you two steps ahead. Most of the villain fights you see on the news happen outside. However, statistically speaking, run-ins with the most evil doers happen indoors." Serena zoned out after the beginning of his speech. She was already getting bored.

'Can we hurry up with the battle?' she thought.

"For this training exercise, you'll be split into teams of good guys, bad guys and fight two on two indoor battles." explained All Might.

"Isn't this a little advanced?" questioned Tsuyu Asui, her quirk ability giving her frog-like abilities.

"The best training is what you get in on the battlefield. But remember, you can't just punch a robot this time. You're dealing with actual people." Serena's classmates soon began to ask questions about the exercise, obviously overwhelming and irritating All Might. Serena snorted quietly when the hero opened up a book. Jiro, who was standing next to her, smiled at the cute sound that came out of the blue-haired girl.

As All Might explained the exercise, Serena was already thinking of ways to defeat her classmates. However, she knew she didn't need to do anything but freeze time. This exam was obviously in her and her quirks favour.

"Let's draw!" All Might said, and just as he was about to put his hand in the box, Serena interrupted him.

"All Might," she spoke up, her arms folded over her chest. "There's an uneven amount of students in the class. How is it going to be teams of two v two?"

"Good question, young Akari!" he boomed, his signature grin never leaving his lips. "After everyone has completed their individual battles, you will be with one other person that goes up again, if they want too." Serena sighed but nodded nonetheless, planning to zone out until it was her turn until she heard that Bakugo's team would be going up against Midoriya's team.

'Fuck' she thought, seeing the murderous glint in the blonde's eyes. She just hoped that he wouldn't do anything troublesome but, knowing her childhood friend, he most certainly would do just that.

Serena walked to the monitoring room, trailing behind the others with Ojiro by her side. "How do you think their battle will go?" he spoke, trying to make a conversation with the girl that caused his heartbeat to spike every time he glanced at her.

"They're going to murder each other, that's for sure."
