Chances are if you've spent any time around the LGBTQ+ community here on Wattpad you will have read the phrase "coming out".

However, in an age when it's becoming accepted that sexuality isn't as easy as labeling an individual heterosexual or homosexual, "coming out" can get tricky. 

Thanks to increasing social awareness, the question being posed now is, "coming out as what, exactly?"

Enter the sexuality spectrum— a widely accepted theory that suggests human sexuality exists in a continuum and that a person may not experience it exactly the same the next. 

According to some surveys conducted in the US, as high as 52% of teenagers and young adults identified as being "somewhere" on the sexuality spectrum, which meant self-identifying as "not completely heterosexual" to homosexual (also including asexuals and those who are questioning).

While there is much more research yet to be done, current trends suggest that while labels may be convenient for "coming out", there is certainly a lot more to it!
