Let's start this wonderful adventure by telling you why Pride Month is so special to the LGBTQ+ community, its culture, and its allies. 

Who Started the June Celebration?

Known as the "Mother of Pride", it was Brenda Howard who coordinated the first LGBT Pride march. As well as sparking the idea for a week of events around Pride Day. These events then developed into the annual LGBT celebrations held every June. (more of the History of Pride Month coming soon.)

Modern-day celebrations are held to promote and raise awareness for the LGBTQ+ community's affirmation, rights, visibility, diversity, and recognize its influence. People from all backgrounds, genders, and sexual orientations mark this month with parades, festivals, shows, and demonstrations such as marches.
