Prologue
The world looked red. That's all she remembers of the day they made it out.
Lying 'neath a blanket of tall grass, staring up at the sunlight beaming through the autumn's changing leaves- the world looked red. Her hair, tangled as it was, spread under her head. She was sprawled on the ground, relaxing for the first time in weeks. The sun was warm, brightening the hue of her skin. It was almost like she was glowing.
There was a breeze that floated through the air, leisurely brushing through the grass, tickling her cheeks, then there was a crash.
Her ears twitched, and despite the twinge of fear in her heart she smiled. Her half siblings were coming home.
