Guarded

(Other Kevin)

With the genius of Double D and the calculated luck laid upon us, we got out without being seen.
That was a week ago, now the Edds and us are living in a shady motel in the 'best room' the guy had for his friend's son. And the only thing that makes it the best room is there is only one bed. When we first got here, Double D went haywire with the cleaning supplies and evening carried the bedding, pillows included, to the public washer down the block. But even with that much cleaning he still flinches at the touch of a random surface.

Right now, I'm standing outside another room as he works inside removing a bullet from somebody's shoulder for this month's food money. My job was just to be the muscle so Eddward doesn't get fooled out of good pay.
I stood out there with another guy that was the client's own bodyguard, he smoked casually as he leaned over the railing compared to where I stood at the door. Neither of us said a word to each other, a silent respect I guess, but there wasn't a lot to say. It was just business.

Or in your case, a bit of time to think of a pick-up line.

I coughed into my gloved hand to cover up the chuckle that escaped my throat.

The other guy looked back at me. Someone inside the room screamed in agony.
He blinked at me as I folded my arms over my chest again and continued to stare for several moments longer before returning to enjoying the tobacco tube. I, myself, was itching for a smoke and the box of them in my front lower pocket wasn't helping the temptation.

Seemed like forever later that Eddward strolled though the door pulling off his spotless white lab coat and folding it over his arm the paying customer flipping through a number of bills from one hand to the other.

"Thank you again, Mr. Vincent." The guy said laying the stack of bills into Eddward's pale hand. "Do I contact you by the same email if we need you again."

"Of course." Eddward replied. "If not then my associate who owns the motel will know how to find me." He stashed the money safely in one of the many pockets of his workbelt. "Come along now, Kevin." He walked off, away from the room and further away from our own room for appearances.

I gave a curt nod to the client as I passed him, following the pale beauty. Keeping a polite distance, again for appearances, until we rounded the corner completely then I caught up to his side.

"I told you we shouldn't have brought them to a room on the same face of the building as ours." I muttered lowly as if someone would overhear.

"Yes, yes, I am aware." He sighed in response. "But the man was bleeding profusely, the closest room was the better option to keep him alive." Eddward rubbed his hands over his arms against the chill if the night air. The weather was getting colder as the days passed.
I pulled off my coat, I stole from a sleeping man in the Underground, and wrapped it over his shoulders. I got a grateful smile in return.

We walked for a while in silence along the one-walled hallway, even going down the stairs.

"We should start preparing for colder weather." Eddward said as he tightened the jacket around him.

I could help but grin as a line came to mind.

Don't do it.

I did it, wrapping an arm around his shoulders, or more rather his upper arms because of his taller height.
He looked at me with curiosity.

"I can keep you plenty warm~" I purred smoothly. "If you'd like me to, of course~"

Oh god. Shoot us now.

Eddward blinked twice at me before bursting into laughter. "D-don't tease, Mr. Barr." He spoke between hearty bouts of his laugh as he brushed off my hand and continued to walk.

I stared after him crestfallen, but still determined.
Why does he have to be so... Thick headed?

Gee, maybe because HE DOESNT COMPUTE FLIRTING DUMBASS!

My left hand came flying upward and I ended up socking myself in the nose.
A loud curse slipped out of my mouth as I held my artificial hand over my nose as it bled like a faucet. Eddward came hurrying back with clear concern in his blue-violet eyes.

"What happened?" He demanded tugging my false appendage from my face, slipping his sleeve over his knuckled and dabbling at the blood.

"He started it." I growled pointing at myself, jabbed my own ribs harshly.

You lying son of a fuck.

As if hearing his Kevin's words, Eddward only sighed while shaking his head.
"Can you two ever get along?"

No. "No."

The pale beauty groaned, pulling away his sleeve and walking back up the stairs. I followed after him as I covered my nose again.

Once we reached our room, I found myself pushed against the pillows on the bed and Kleenex being stuffed up my nose. After that was nothing more than a cold shoulder.

Great.

I sat up on the bed and crossed my legs on the questionable mattress, watching as Eddward tick and tack away on the dinosaur computor on the floor.

I slumped as I thought of something to say that would at least get a smirk out of him.
"Don't I get a 'feel better' kiss?" I asked in a stuffed-nose voice.

He didn't even glance away from the tiny screen.
"You're a big boy, Kevin, and I'm not your mother. You should be resting your head back as well."

Moron.

"Shut up." I muttered into my shoulder. "It's your fault anyway."

Oh, I'm sorry for trying to stop you from making a fool out of us.

"At least I had him laughing."

"I though I told you to lay your head back." I glanced at a scarily angry looking Eddward. "Or do I have to waste a narcotic on you?"

I fell backwards on the bed with a bounce.
"I can't help that Kevin and I argue with each other," I whined childishly.

Don't you start.

"We're both stubborn and bull-headed," I continued, ignoring the voice in my head.

"Isn't that the truth." Eddward muttered in agreement.

I looked over at him, Eddward seemed focused on the screen, then rolled off the bed landing with a carpet muffled thud on my hands and knees.
"Speaking of head," I proceeded talking like I wasn't disobeying the scary underground doctor and crawled quietly from the safety of the bed to his back. "We're head over heels." I finished in a whisper at his ear.

He whipped around wide eyed, bewildered, and red in the face. "K-Kevin!" Was all he could say before I pinned him to the stained brown carpet.

I almost had him, only a few centimeters closer an those lips would've been ours. If only a goddamned certain someone hadn't landed a strong blow to our eye and knocked me out of the driver seat then there would have been that frustration relieving kiss.

God dammit!!!
