Flirt
(Double D)
I'm truly unsure of how Kevin managed it but he did. He got me into the sparring ring with him. I am uncertain how long we've been at it but the sun was fading and the building's dim lights kept the ring lit.
Personally I found no point to this sport and how it amuses people. But seeing a worn down Kevin Barr was certainly a sight to behold.
His body low to the off-white, sweat stained ground, his chest heaving to catch his breath, his eyes narrowed in concentration as he calculated his next move.
I didn't hit, I never even laid a hand on him. But seeing him so tired just trying to even scratch me was funny. Offensive against evasive. Quite the stalemate at present.
Several viewers had grown bored and left but the stragglers remained were cheering for my partner to land a single hit.
Physical activity, social interaction, and an excellent view ~
I stood my ground as Kevin thought his moves out, my forearms crossed over my chest in a blocking form, my feet parted in a firm hold, and knees bent if need for a dodge or side step.
At some point a confident grin stretched it's way over my lips with every avoided hit.
Kevin, however, though he was tired one could see he was frustrated as well and stubbornly determined to win. How charming.
Finally, he stepped forward his left fist ready at his side and his prosthetic extending outward. Diversion.
I shifted my weight to my right which triggered his thought out plan, sending out his prepped swing, before ducking under his already extended arm and stationing my back against his.
"Dammit." I chuckled at hearing him curse.
"Having fun?" I asked in a teasing tone.
I felt something grab my left forearm and drag me back. Out of instinct I twisted on my left foot and kept my heel down, bringing my right foot up, and connected my chin with Kevin's face.
And he fell.
The crowd around our ring oohed in pity as if they had received the blow themselves.
I was feeling the blow myself in my shin. Letting my right foot touch the floor again but keeping too much weight off it.
"Kevin?" I questioned, limping around his body.
He was laying with his arms splayed out, his expression contorted in pain. I wonder if I knocked him out of control.
"Ow." Kevin grunted finally, opening his eyes and looking up at me.
I held up one of my hands with two fingers extended. "How many digits do you see, Kevin?" I asked.
The redhead blinked at my hand for a few moments. "Two."
I gave a sigh in relief, I didn't hurt his brain in any harmful way, before opening the rest of my fingers into an open palm and offering him assistance back to his feet.
He took my hand.
"You, sir, have a hard skull structure." I commented when he was standing again.
Kevin chuckled lowly. "I get that a lot." He replied. "Is your leg okay?" The former eyed the leg I was favoring as he draped my own arm over his shoulder.
"Just some bruising to be the worst of it." I tried to take my limb back. He wasn't having it, gripping my wrist with his other hand, keeping my arm over his shoulders, and wrapping his now free arm around my waist.
Kevin took lead toward one of the elastic rope walls, some remaining bystanders held the ropes down, and helped me down the makeshift steps.
"A true gentleman." I muttered sarcastically. Kevin snorted in response.
Practically carrying me, Kevin led to the changing room and I am positive my face turned bright red. If anyone had seen PG rated movies involving a visit to the boys locker room of a high school, they'd know what I'm talking about. Only these were either young or full grown adults.
Kevin, clearly knowing me, leaned me against the wall closest to the exit and released his grip.
"I'll grab our bags and we'll go." He left my side without waiting for a response. I watched him slip between partially or mostly nude men, dodge playful punches, and nod at teasing jokes to reach the corner locker where we stashed our belongings.
I received rough shoulder pats from exiting members that watched my victory to which I awkwardly smiled at. I still don't understand how they found boxing entertaining. Personally I found it similar to pitting dogs against each other.
"Let's go." Kevin's voice startled me as much as his sudden and close appearance. He carried our two outfits under one arm as he wrapped his other arm around my waist again.
"I can walk, Kevin" I complained as my partner held me against him, my face heating up uncomfortably.
"You might be good at indirect fighting but you're weak to direct attacks, D." Kevin replied, tightening his grip while we walked to the building's main doors. "Don't make me resort to carrying you."
My eyes snapped to him, his own features were tainted red.
The night was cold with a gentle breeze to make it colder. It made me quickly appreciate Kevin's bodyheat, it radiated off of him in waves.
I put my arm over his shoulders again making the position less awkward to walk. We were silent as we walked down the empty sidewalk. The occasional car passing us by illuminating our surroundings brighter than the lampposts briefly.
"Wanna grab a bite on the way back to the motel?" Kevin asked, interrupting our silent walk.
I spared a glance to my partner. "You know any restraunt near the motel is beyond our destination rather than along the way."
A vocal rumble emitted from the redhead. "I meant did you want to go out to eat for dinner?" He rephrased his question with an eye roll.
That doesn't sound like a safe idea.
I agreed with my other self. "Kevin..." I spoke with clear worry.
"We can handle ourselves, D." He replied with an interesting combination of a whine and assurance. "We've trained for these sort of senerios in the Facility for years. If it makes you feel better we can prep a few weapons at the motel." He added with a sigh. "Just, c'mon, let's go out instead of ordering take out delivery."
I turned my head to look at Kevin, he stared back with a frustrated pleading look in his eyes.
I can't argue against us being able to fight but I would rather not push lady luck.
It is only dinner.
Exhaling heavily through my nose and letting my eyes fall shut, I could feel Kevin's body stiffen with hope.
"Fine." I answered after a moment.
Suddenly my feet barely touched the sidewalk and my partner's nose was buried against my neck as he gave me a strong sideways hug, crushing my ribs in the process.
I couldn't help the giggle that escaped me when Kevin set me back down. Such a puppy.
"But," I started. "We are going back to the motel to shower and change before going anywhere near a restraunt."
The redhead replied only with a throaty chuckle.
