Chapter 22 divorse
When I walked in the house. The first thing I hear is yelling. It was my dad. He was mad. When I looked at him, I saw a beer bottle in his hand. He had gotten drunk. He had promised me that he would stop.
About 9 years ago was when my mo died and I lost my emotions of happiness and joy. My dad hadn't take her death well. He had gotten drunk every night. I didn't tell him that I couldn't feel the joyous emotions until after he remarried. He still got drunk. But about 5 years ago he had promised me that he wouldn't get drunk anymore. That he would stop. I hadn't believed him at first but he did stop. I thought that he would die once keep a promise. But apparently he didn't. It hurt to see that my dad had betrayed me. When I started to cry, that's when my dad noticed me. His former mad expression changed to regret and sorrow, and one more that looked like hatred.
"Max.....Max I'm sor-" he started but I ran upstairs so fast and slammed my door shut. I was to upset and scared.
Nathan knocked on the door. "Max. Max can I come in?"
"No. My dad is with you. I can hear his breathing." I said still crying.
"Max. I'm sorry. If only you could understand." My dad said through the door.
"Save it! You PROMISED! You said that you wouldn't ever get drunk again. And I BELIEVED you! I never should have trusted you! Your the reason that mom is dead and I still forgave you! Don't you even know what it means to someone when you promised them something?! And what's worse is that you are trying to make everything okay! What the heck?! Didn't you ever wonder why I didn't question your promise?! I freaking believed you!" I yelled and opened my window. I. Plus head my dad picking that lock. I jumped and flew off before he could get to me.
"Max!"
Nathan's POV
Max screamed at her dad through the door. I've never seen her this upset. She was crying and screaming at her dad. When I heard the window start to open, that's when I started to pick the lock on her door. When I finally opened the door she was already in the sky.
"Max!" I screamed and took off after her. "Max! Come back! Max!" I shouted after her till I got to her. I grabbed her arm and spun her around to face me. Her face was red with pain and anger. She had tears running down her face and she was scared. "Max..." I said and she continued to cry.
"Max. It's ok. Don't worry." I said hugging her.
"No! It's not! He freaking promised me. When will he get it. He's the freaking reason that my mother is dead!" She cried. She cried on my shoulder for a while and I flew her back home.
"Max. You have to face him." I said and she nodded.
When we walked through the door she immediately clung to my side. I have never seen her this upset. I put my arm around her and told her to talk.
If I had to guess what we looked like we probably looked like this.
"D-dad. How long have you been doing this? Why did you lie to me?" she said through tears.
"Max. I am sorry. I have been doing it the whole time and I should have told you. But I couldn't and then your step mom and I are getting a divorce so that makes it worse." He said.
"And that gives you a reason to get drunk and betray your daughter?" She said anger filling her voice.
"No but-" she pulled away from me and turned to her dad then cut him off.
"Your doing it again! Your making up excuses. Just take the freaking blame! Is it that hard?! I didn't make any excuses when I told you that I was dating Nathan!" She said crying angry tears. "You lied to me and didn't tell me and then want to make excuses. No wonder you are getting a divorce." I said things between me and my dad have never been good. We didn't have a good relationship. But this made it worse. "I'm staying with mom. You can leave. I don't care. At least I'll be with someone who actually loves me and cares." She said and then went upstairs. I followed her and her dad stood in shock.
