CHAPTER 21

When Karl awoke finally his arms were sore, himself struggling to move them as he sat up. His head hurt too, but he remembered everything that had happened the previous night. If he had passed out in that room, then how did he get back to his and Sapnap’s bedroom? Has someone found him and brought him back? And if so, where was Sap? As he looked around the room he noticed a note on the nightstand near him. Weakly he moved his hands to grab it, shakily opening it to read the contents.

Dear Karl,

I am sorry I wont be there when you awake. I had to carry out the mission for the sake of our kingdom, and the others inhabiting this world. I hope by the time I return you will be well and in control of the invincible abilities you have now. Yes, I said abilities. Punz will explain further, he’s the one that will help you in controlling your ability. I wish you the best of luck, and I will see you soon.

Your love, Sapnap

Karl frowned, folding the letter back up before letting his hands rest on his lap. He was alone in a castle with no one he trusted, got horribly injured from that egg thing, and now will be spending his time with a stranger trying to control his abilities that this egg thing gave him. Karl sighed. So far today seemed like a horrible day. A knock on his door shook him out of his thoughts. He stared at the door for a moment before saying a quick ‘come in’ not yet ready to try and do anything today. A blond haired male walked in, he had blond hair and brown eyes, but for whatever reason he had a feeling that there was something more to him other than his basic appearance.

“Glad to see you’re up.” He male, he assumes is Punz, sighs.

“Are you Punz?” Karl asked. The blond male nodded, walking further into the room before sitting down next to the other.

“I’ll be looking after you until prince Sapnap gets back.” The time traveler frowns. He sits down on the bed next to the other. “So, have any sores, or anywhere that hurts at the moment?” The blond asked. Karl slowly nodded, looking down to his arms.

“My arms, They feel weak and sore.” He explained. Punz grabbed one of his arms, turning it to palm up now revealing purple and green swirls on his palms. This slightly freaked the other out, who jerked his hand out of the other's grip to bring his shaking hand closer to his face for a better look at the swirl. “Is this what Sapnap meant by abilities?” He asked. Punz frowned, looking over to the nightstand to see the note.

“Yes, They are linked.” He informed the other. “I’m guessing he also told you I'd explain what we mean by abilities?” Karl slowly nodded. “Well, it's a power. Usually something significant to you. If you are a hybrid it usually will just enhance the abilities your non-human side gives you. But since you're human that doesn’t apply to you, so you have a power that's significant to yourself.” Punz explained. “I have abilities too.” He admits to him. Karl was intrigued by this, leaning in a bit towards the other in curiosity.

“What is it?” Karl asked.

“It gives me sharper eyes, better speed, better stealth, and more accurate hits when I’m fighting,” he explains. “The only bad thing about this is my eyes can go blurry if I use my abilities too much at once, making me vulnerable.” Karl was intrigued by this, looking at the man's own hands in curiosity. Punz was confused, before he looked at the shorter males hands again, then he understood. "Mine isn’t a dead give away, you can only tell by my eyes.” As he said this, his normal brown eyes turned a glowing silver, Karl looking at them in amazement before Punz quickly switched them back to normal. “We’ll see what yours is when your arms don’t feel like they're about to fall off.”

“Okay, do you have any idea when Sapnap will be back?” The blond got up from his seat on the brunettes bed before answering.

“Six days the latest, but knowing Sapnap has a horse, and how determined he is to get back, I have a feeling he’ll be back sooner than we think.” He said. Karl sighed, leaning back in his bed. Punz made his way to the door, looking back to the other before leaving. “I’ll bring you breakfast. After that I think we should work on finding out what your ability is.” After this the male finally leaves, Karl now able to lay down and contemplate everything that has happened throughout his time away from the Dreamer kingdom.

Ranboo didn’t know how to deal with emotions all that well, himself only getting negative actions from only one person for most of his life. So when Tommy came barging into his and Tubbo’s shared room crying and apologising to them, he didn’t know how to react. Tubbo did though, quickly getting up and wrapping the younger into a tight hug, swaying side to side as the goat hybrid quietly spoke to the other, the avian only nodding or shook his head for answers. Ranboo sat awkwardly, watching with curious eyes as the interaction took place. Eventually the two made it back to the bed, Tommy seeming to be better than he was earlier. “Sorry I left you guys like that, I should have waited for you before I left like that.”

“No, this has to be hard for you. We weren't too surprised when you just jumped out that window like you did. Everyone needs alone time, you know. Even if it’s only for an hour or two.” Tubbo consulted. “Did you eat?” Tommy nodded, the prince fiddling with his fingers as he stared down at his lap. “Well that’s good. Did you eat by yourself?”

“No, Philza and my brothers ate with me.”

“Do you wanna do some late night training?” Tubo asked, the goat hybrid looking excited by his idea. Ranboo frowned though, he still could barely swing the sword right, and the two were talking about sparing together like it was a leisure hobby the two did. Well, it may be for them actually. From everyone's reaction to the fact that Ranboo didn’t know how to fight it seemed normal for children his age to be sparing with ease.

“Actually, maybe that's not a good idea. I think Ranboo would feel left out.” The young avian answered. Tubbo frowned, looking over to his half and half companion before his shining eyes came back, a wicked smile on his face.

“What if we trained him. I think Technoblade is going a bit hard on him anyways! Maybe after a few days with us he’ll be able to last longer than a few seconds in a fight with the prince.” Ranboo frowned.

“Hey! I can last longer than a few seconds against that guy!” The two others laughed at the ender hybrid’s words, making himself smile slightly.

Ranboo again fell to the ground, Tommy above him pointing the edge of the sword against his throat with an accomplished look on his face. “I told you what stance to use Ranboo!” Tubbo complained again, coming over to help his taller friend up. Tommy backed up, moving his sword away as he watched.

“He just keeps focusing on his attacks, he doesn’t care about his footing.” The avian informed the other. The goat hybrid frowned, picking up the ender hybrid’s sword up before handing it back over to him.

“You can’t just be focusing on your attacks, you have to worry about everything around you. You sometimes won't face your opponents head on Ranboo, it's important you pay attention to your stance too, along with keeping defence in mind because you won't always be able to attack. You will have to defend yourself too.” He explained. Ranboo nodded slowly. He realized there was a lot more to sword fighting than just swinging your weapon around and hoping you don’t die. Tommy sighed, getting the attention of the other two next to him.

“Why don’t we just show him? Maybe he’s one of those people that learn from watching.” Tubbo looked as if he was considering it. “Plus, he needs a break before even thinking about fighting again.” Finally the goat hybrid broke, letting a defeated sigh leave his lungs.

“Fine, but then we test if he learned anything from it.” Tommy smiled brightly, quickly getting in a fighting stance. Tubbo faced Ranboo though, lifting his hand up with a smirk. “I need to borrow your sword for a minute.” Ranboo handed it over, backing up before sitting down to watch the fight. Tubbo got in a similar stance, both facing one another before the brownette made the first move. He shot forwards, sword swinging at Tommy’s, but the avian quickly reflected the attack and swung his own. Both looked in sync as they fought, twisting around the other and deflecting their attacks with ease.

Though Ranboo noticed that the two always made sure their feet were planted on the ground, and if they moved they moved quickly watching the others movements with alertness. That's when Ranboo noticed Tommy’s eyes, they were cat-like. Seemed this fight was more serious than theirs. Tubbo eventually was overpowered, being flung to the floor by Tommy’s harsh push back. His sword flew out of his hand, falling to the ground a few feet away. Tommy had the tip of his sword to the goat hybrid’s throat, Tubbo smiling gleefully even with the dangerous weapon pressed to his neck. Tommy  too shared a similar expression, even when he pulled the sword away and sheathed it, helping the other up.

“That was great! Tubbo, I think you got better since our last fight!” The goat hybrid happily nodded, giggling as he handed Ranboo back his weapon.

“You did great too Tommy!” Ranboo stood, copying Tubbo’s stance and trying to reenact some of their moves. The two watched with smiling faces, realizing Tommy’s idea seemed to come out to a positive outcome. “You’ll be as great as us in no time if you keep this up!” Tommy nodded in agreement, pulling his sword out again.

“Ready for another fight?” Ranboo determanly nodded, facing the other smirking teen.

“Bring it.”
