(Seijuro Mikoshiba) The College Experience PART 3

A/n: Finally done with this Seijuro story!!! But I typed this part pretty fast, I was very inspired :) oh, and let me know if the gif is working? I'm on mobile rn so I'm not so sure if it's moving for you all.

If only I could find my own Sei in college... Just hopeful thinking! Haha. And fun fact: I'm listening to Future Fish right now and my gosh, I just got smacked with major feels. They sound so good altogether. ❤️ I miss my boys so much.

I hope this is an ok end for this Seijuro three-shot you guys!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next few days were torture to Seijuro.
The Monday that followed that eventful night at his dorm, (F/n) had approached him. Seijuro pinpointed instantly that she hasn't gotten much sleep. The dark circles under her once vibrant (e/c) eyes and the paleness of her face was proof enough. She no longer bared a smile when she saw him and her shoulders were slumped like there was something weighing her down. His girl looked so distraught.
But he would have never predicted the words that slipped from her lips. He held in his breath and tried not to show how hurt he was when (F/n) told him, "Seijuro-kun, for now, I would like to for us to not meet up and hang out. It's nothing against you but I need to clear out my thoughts and you being around isn't going to help."
His heart shattered into a million pieces. Just when he thought he was ready to confess to her and let her know how much she meant to him, she had to take a step back. He wanted to do anything in his power to fix all of her problems. If he could, he would do it in a heartbeat. But how? He knew that it spawned from her parent's overprotectiveness. There's absolutely nothing he could do about that and if he even tried, he was sure he'd be banished for life from seeing their daughter.
So, Seijuro had to accept this...
And endure the loss of not seeing (F/n) as much as before.
The redheaded swimmer became more distracted in his classes and more reserved, much to his friends' confusion. But he didn't care at that point, all he wanted was to see (F/n)'s dazzling smile that could bring light into his life in a snap. If he didn't have her parent's approval, then he already lost her.
He thought moving on from his high school teammate's sister was hard, but how will he be able to do it with (L/n) (F/n)?
Yasushi and Daiki noticed the sudden changes in their good friend. It's been two weeks since that day and they could see him getting even worst without (F/n). They would notice him trying to sneak peeks into his phone in classes, in hopes for that blessed text from the (h/c) girl and tell him everything is fine. They noticed how sluggish he had become in swim practices. It wasn't as much as their coach would notice it as well, but there was a definite difference. Seijuro's bright aura was absolutely gone. His smiles and laughter were undeniably fake and it hurt the two boys to see him in a rare condition.
Sadly, they had a good guess as to who caused this change in Seijuro.
"I told you, I didn't do a damn thing about it!"
The two boys had cornered their dear female teammate after one practice in the hallway outside of the pool. They had to squeeze the evidence right out of her and from the nervous look gracing her face, it was already obvious that she was guilty. "Yumi-chan, just admit that you sabotaged their relationship! You need to fix everything," Yasushi scowled at the shorter person, his eyes narrowed into slits. "Seijuro-kun is hurting and it's because of you!"
"Jaa, why don't you two believe me? I'm your friend too and you should believe my words!" Yumi screeched out, her arms crossed over her chest. She stomped her bare feet to the ground and glared at the two taller boys. "Let me go change, you idiots!"
"No, we're settling this now. We know you did something to make (F/n) not talk to Seijuro anymore," Daiki growled menacingly, enough to bring a chill down Yumi's spine. But when he was met with silence, he roared out, "You selfish, rotten girl! How could you even consider yourself his friend when you intentionally hurt him?!"
"I didn't mean that to happen!" Yumi screamed back, the tears brimming her eyes. Yasushi and Daiki gawked at her in shock. They must've driven her to her limit for her to blurt out such a thing. "I didn't know he would be hurting this bad! I didn't know how much of an impact that girl actually had on him. I thought she was just another phase, but you know what? It hurts me too! I've liked him first but why did he have to like someone else?! Why like a girl he only met this year while I was there for him since the beginning?!" She furiously wiped away her tears with the back of her hand, her face red and her body trembling under her towel. "I get it now. He really does like her. But it hurts."
The two boys swelled with guilt as they watched their teammate bawling in front of them. Even though she was the one at fault in this situation, they had to feel bad as well. They knew how much Yumi had liked Seijuro. Their first year in college, the two even thought that they would end up dating, but that never happened.
Seijuro may have been a flirtatious boy, but he didn't bother getting into a relationship. This might have been because he had lost the girl he liked from his senior year of high school to his younger brother. Everyone would have to admit, that's cruel fate. But Seijuro moved on and made himself new friends to surround himself with, along with a few female admirers. The redhead could have easily gotten into a relationship, but he didn't. Yasushi and Daiki knew his view on love had changed the moment he met (F/n).
"How did you do it?" Daiki decided to ask Yumi once her crying had calmed.
She let out a shaky breath and admitted her plans to the two.
"See, I made it here just fine."
"Yeah, but that's only because I was around to protect you."
Yumi gagged at Seijuro's words. The female swimmer kept herself hidden within the bushes nearby what she learned to be the (L/n) residence. It was on-instinct plan, and going this far, she knew she couldn't back out just yet. She had to wait in that bush until both (F/n) and Seijuro separated ways, the girl going into her house while Seijuro returning back to campus. She suffered more through their stupid banter, her eyes blazing with anger at how oblivious (F/n) seemed to be to Seijuro's flirting. Before the two could go even further with their talk, the front door slid open to reveal an older woman.
That must be her mother, Yumi thought.
A few moments of words being exchanged, Seijuro left. "So, that's the Seijuro you keep going on and on about," (F/n)'s mother teased to the younger girl. Yumi's blood was boiling now. Does this mean (F/n) actually returns his feelings? This won't do. There's something she has to do if she's going to keep Seijuro.
"Mom, shush. Let's just go inside," (F/n) mumbled out in response. As the two were about to walk inside the house, Yumi attempted to quietly sneak away... That is until (F/n)'s head swerved around to her direction and she had to fall back into the bush.
"What's wrong, sweetie?" Yumi heard (F/n)'s mother ask.
After an excruciating second of silent, (F/n) replied, "It's nothing." Then followed the the door sliding closed afterwards. Yumi finally fled from her hiding spot, a wicked, evil smile tugging at her lips as she hurried back to her dorm on campus.
...
The next day couldn't have gone any slower for Yumi. Once classes were all over, she knew what she had to do. It just proved to be going her way when their swim coach announced that the day's practice was canceled. So, she hurried to her destination as fast as she could, making sure to get off at the right stops and turning at the correct pathways. Before she knew it, she made it back to the (L/n) home.
She knocked frantically on the door and waited for a few minutes. Not too long after, the door opened, but only to reveal an older man rather than a woman. This must be (F/n)'s father. The man gave her a confused glance, wordlessly questioning what her reasons for being at his doorstep at this hour. Yumi pretended to be breathing hard, her hand clutching at the front of her shirt. "Hello, you must be Mr. (L/n), (F/n)'s father?" she asked him innocently. The man nodded in response. "Ah, thank goodness. I'm sorry I seem to rash, but I'm a good friend and classmate of (F/n)'s. We were supposed to meet up after class to study for our upcoming exams but she didn't meet me in our usual spot. I even tried texting and calling her. I just thought that she must've gone straight home. She given me her address some time ago, as to why I was able to find this house."
Her lie seemed to have fooled Mr. (L/n). "Oh... well, (F/n) hasn't come home. In fact, she told me and her mother that she would be sleeping over at her friend's so she could study more. Are you not that friend?"
Yumi's eyes widened at this to make herself look believably surprised and gasped out, "Huh, (F/n) said that? Since when? I haven't heard anything about this before! Where could she have gone? She wouldn't usually skip out on our study sessions..."
Right behind the man, (F/n)'s mother appeared. With the apron she wore, she must've been cooking dinner at that moment. "(M/n), this is (F/n)'s classmate from college. She just told me that she doesn't know where our daughter is."
Yumi clasped her hands together, her eyebrows furrowed with fake concern. "I'm really sorry for disturbing the two of you, but I'm just so worried for her."
Mrs. (L/n) had a frantic look in her (e/c) eyes, the horrid feeling of their missing daughter setting in her heart. "Oh no. Where could she be? Let me try calling her right now." She took out her phone and dialed her daughter's number. Oddly enough, it went straight to voicemail.
{A/n: I will let you know, since I failed to mention it in Part 2, that you have your phone on Do Not Disturb}
"Oh my goodness, where is she?" the mother wailed, panic coursing through her veins.
"(M/n) don't worry, we can track her down, ok?" (D/n) assured his wife as he brought up the app that tracks their daughter's phone. "See, look. Her phone is clearly still on. And it looks like she's still on campus." He looked down at the younger girl. "We'll go ahead and go find our daughter, thank you for informing us."
"It's not a problem... I should be going home and studying, so I'll have to leave you to find (F/n). Please tell her to message me. I've been worried sick," Yumi muttered.
"Yes, of course. Thank you so much!" (M/n) told her with a kind smile. As the two adults rushed out of the house, Yumi knew her job was done.
"That was downright evil, Yumi!" Daiki sneered the moment she had finished her story. Yumi's head hung low, the guilt eating her from the inside. She knew that, and she regretted it now. "I can't believe you've gone out of your way to do that! You actually went to her home and lied to her parents!"
"I-I'm sorry..."
"You shouldn't be apologizing to us!" Daiki shot back, his shoulders tense with rage.
"Daiki-kun, that's enough. I think she feels bad enough. Yumi-chan, after we change, let's go find Seijuro and you have to confess to everything," Yasushi told her in a much gentler tone. Yumi rapidly nodded, ready to correct her mistakes.
As the three swimmers were talking, Seijuro was, in fact, in the nearly deserted locker room. He sat on the metal bench in front of his locker, his phone in his hand. He stared the brightly lit screen sadly. No new messages from (F/n).
He placed his phone down and buried his face into his hands, his body scrunched forward. He couldn't take this anymore. He wants to see her. He wants to embrace her. He wants to confess his love for her. But, no, he can't be hasty. He might lose her forever if he was.
The door to the locker room swung open, catching Seijuro by surprise... but that wasn't it. His golden eyes widened when he saw Yumi being forcefully pushed in by Yasushi and Daiki. Yumi's hands were covering her eyes and she squealed to be set free, as this was a stupid idea. "What's going on?" Seijuro asked the three, the confusion set on his tan face.
Yumi peeked through her fingers and swooned at the sight of Seijuro shirtless with just sweatpants on. But her dreamy moment was ruined when he gaze reached his eyes. The twinkle she fell for was no longer there, his eyes were dull, lifeless. She gulped, the future consequences from her plan causing her to tremble even more than before.
She hesitantly told Seijuro everything.
Seijuro's expression was blank through the whole explanation, not sure what to take from it. His teammate, someone he had considered a good friend, was at fault. Yumi was the one that brought (F/n)'s parents to his dorm and taken her away.
But... he couldn't be mad.
Yumi was in front of him, the tears rolling down her cheeks like a waterfall. He could sense how guilty she felt and how she wished she didn't do what she did. He even felt bad to have found out Yumi had liked him this whole time and he didn't know. He made her suffer this whole time and had no knowledge of it.
It wasn't until Yumi's next words that made him fully forgive her. "Sei-kun, please don't give up on (F/n). I realize now how much she is to you, and that's someone you should never let go of. You have to take the risk and let her and her parents know how you feel. You have to do something before it's too late. Show them that you're as serious as you claim. Confess to how much you love her and make them open their eyes."
That's what snapped him back to reality.
Before anyone else knew it, Seijuro had grabbed a shirt from his locker and bolted out, not even bothering to get his other belongings. "Since when did this become some kind of crap soap opera?" Daiki grumbled out to the other two in irritation.
~*~
(F/n) was in her house alone, cooped up in her bedroom, wallowing in her own sadness. That one night when her parent's found her in Seijuro's dorm room was a memory she can never forget. The look of betrayal and disappoint on their faces was enough to make her feel horrible for her actions. But did she regret the attempt sleepover at Seijuro's and get caught? No, she didn't. In fact, it made her finally accept the fond feelings she had for that giant idiot.
But now, her parent's demanded to have her go straight home after her classes, not giving her the time to see Seijuro. It was agony for her, but it was also bad that her parents were treating her differently. Other than being more strict than usual, they became cold to her. No friendly talks about how their day has been at the table, no more "good nights" or "good mornings", no more anything that had made her family life tolerable. She couldn't even bring herself to apologize because every time she did, her parent's wouldn't bare her a glance and ignore her. And she was positive that Seijuro was the last thing her parent's want to talk about.
Frantic knocks on her door snapped her back from her thoughts. (F/n) hurried over to the door, thinking that her parents were finally back from the grocery store.
Nothing would have prepared her for this moment.
"Seijuro-kun?" she gaped. (F/n) took in his appearance. He looked exhausted with the way the sweat was dripping off his chin and his erratic breathing. "What the heck? Did you run all the way here?!"
Seijuro nodded, but in his dizzy state, he nearly toppled over if it weren't for (F/n). "Whoa there! Come inside, you need to sit down." She quickly took him inside and plopped him down on the couch in the living room. "I'll go get you some water." She hurried to her kitchen and got the glass of water to give to him. Seijuro took it with no hesitation and gulped down everything to the last drop. His crimson face was beginning to look normal and his breathing slowed down greatly. "What are you doing here?"
Seijuro weakly smiled. "I'm here to tell you how much I love you."
(F/n) wasn't sure if he was joking or not, but it got her heart racing. "Oi, idiot, don't say things like that so casually!" she nagged, smacking his arm.
"I'm not kidding, (F/n)." Her gaze lowered. He was genuine after all. "I want to tell you everything, but I want to say it in front of your parents too."
"Huh? That might not be the best idea. My parents hate you right now, and they wouldn't even listen to me for an explanation."
"Well, they're gonna have to because I'm not leaving until they hear my side of the story."
"Seijuro-kun, that-"
What perfect timing Mrs. and Mr. (L/n) have. "What is HE doing here?!" (D/n) burst out, the anger radiating off of him. "Get out of our house, boy! You're not allowed here." He was storming over to the still-tired Seijuro to probably throw him out himself... until (F/n) stepped in between them. "(F/n)?! What are you doing?"
"We need to talk," (F/n) stated. The aura she had now was nearly unrecognizable. Was this really their daughter that's going against them right now? "You've been ignoring me the past two weeks and haven't let me say what I needed to say and that's not fair on my part. You say that I'm an adult now and I have my own responsibilities but you still try to control me like a child!"
The two elders stood there flabbergasted. This is their daughter? Where did this confidence to defy them come from? "Please let us explain ourselves," (F/n) demanded.
(M/n) placed a hand on her husband's shoulder, giving him a look. The man calmed down, a stern expression still glued to his face, but he complied.
And so for the past thirty minutes, the four of them talked, the college kids explaining their story truthfully. Seijuro even mentioned how Yumi (who stayed unnamed in the conversation) had planned for them to find out about the fake study sleepover. (F/n)'s parents couldn't sense any deceit or lies in their stories and it all connected one way or another.
"Mr. and Mrs. (L/n), I know we had the sleepover merely as friends, but I do have feelings for your daughter," Seijuro continued, trying his best to keep eye contact to the older adults. "And I respect your daughter way too much to do anything inappropriate to her. Plus, she can protect herself just fine, if I ever tried anything, I knew she could kick my a-"
He received a cold stare from (F/n). "-butt. Your daughter is a lot more than you may think. She works so hard to gain the amazing grades she has now. She's incredibly determined and she doesn't fail to wow me every time I see her. She never broke any of your rules before and I knew how much she cares about you. Please believe me when I say that I'm in love with (F/n). I'm very positive with these feelings. I would do anything for her. Even the first time we met, I couldn't bring myself to be away from her. She was someone that had interested me the moment we crossed paths. I wanted to open her up and let her see more of the world rather than be stuck in a mountain of school work all the time. It's not good for someone to always focus on one thing in their lives. People needs breaks sometimes or they'll break eventually. I swear that I'm not a bad influence, in fact, I just care too much about her well-being. I love (F/n) too much for her to break."
(F/n) gazed at Seijuro with awe and adoration. He really is something else. Seijuro caught her gaze and he gently smiled at her. "Well, that's all I could say. I'm not sure what you feel for me but I couldn't bear to keep it all in anymore." He glanced back at (D/n) and (M/n). "Please forgive your daughter, she doesn't deserve to be neglected by two people she cares deeply for and respect. None of it was her fault, it was all mine."
The two adults exchanged glances. "Thank you, Mikoshiba-kun, for informing us about all this. You may now leave," (M/n) told him.
Wait, wasn't this supposed to be the part where the parents smile brightly at him and give him their blessing to let him see their daughter again? Was he being rejected?
"Boy, we have much to talk about, but strictly between family members," her father said, the tone of his voice still rough.
Seijuro blinked. He looked over at (F/n), who held a saddened expression. He then stood up, bowed to them, and left the house.
He gave all he's got, but was it not enough?
Deflated, he returned back to campus.
~*~
The next day rolled around and Seijuro couldn't care less about it. He trudged to each of his classes, more melancholy than before. His friends weren't sure what to do. They all thought everything would be ok after yesterday, but it apparently hasn't. They all desperately tried to brighten his mood but nothing worked, Seijuro was far too deep in his emotions.
He had loved and lost.
Swim practice came around all too soon and he couldn't bring himself to be at his 100%. It had become so bad that the coach had to bench him, seeing that he wasn't going to participate to the best of his abilities. Yasushi, Daiki, Yumi (and basically the whole swim team) wanted to help him, but there weren't any clear answers to solve this, unless that one particular person comes around and...
The creak of the metal entrance doors caught almost everyone's attention. Chatter started to break out between teammates from their visitor.
(F/n) stiffened at the sight of people's eyes on her. She quickly hurried to the bleachers but stopped when she saw Seijuro sitting there. The moment their eyes met, emotions seemed to have burst all around them. She sat down next to him, just as the coach demanded the team to continue their training.
"So, how come you're not swimming?" she asked Seijuro in a whisper.
"Coach saw that I wasn't doing my best and had me sit out."
"Ugh, idiot, you should be giving your all no matter what."
Seijuro's eyes darted over to her in surprise. "You're calling me an idiot?" (F/n) nodded at him, a small smile on her lips. "That hurts, you know."
"Hmm? You didn't seem fazed being called an idiot before."
His lips tugged downwards into a frown. "So, are we ok now? Are we friends again?"
(F/n) sighed. "You really are an idiot. After everything that happened yesterday and you still want to settle as friends?" Seijuro was about to retaliate until she had reached over and grabbed his hand. "My parents believes us and they forgave me. It's still a little weird at home but we'll be fine eventually. I'm also free to hang out with you again but only if you promise them that you'd treat me right." She laced her fingers with his and gave him a smirk. "If you haven't caught on yet, I accepted your confession and I love you too."
"What?"
With a scowl, she tugged onto his hand, pulling him close enough for her to kiss his cheek. "I love you too," she repeated, her face flaring with embarrassment.
"Oh thank god." He engulfed the girl into his arms, holding her as tightly as he could, not wanting to ever let go. "I thought I was never going to see you. That maybe your parents forced you to transfer colleges or even move all the way too far from here and I'll never see your beautiful face and I will just die and-"
"Hold on, Seijuro-kun! Slow it down, that obviously didn't happen," (F/n) interjected, baring him a warm smile. "I am here with you and we're together. I gotta thank you for being so persistent with me too... if you haven't that day we met, I probably would still be avoiding you."
"Well, thank you for accepting my friendship, because I never would have fallen in love with you."
"UGH, am I seriously going to have to deal with you being like that? You're getting so mushy!"
"Only because I can freely love you now!"
(F/n), about to become a junior in college, would never expect the "luck" she'd get that one day. And when she says luck, she means the utmost best luck she could ever get. On top of her now okay life, this was just the icing on the cake, she deeply believed, and all because of the boy she had hopelessly fallen in love with, Mikoshiba Seijuro.
