(Makoto Tachibana) Mistaken

A/n: Yay! I did it, you guys. I finished this little series. And I am overwhelmed by the amount of views and votes and comments my oneshots have gotten since starting this! Thank you everyone! This makes me so happy.

After this, I will do two more oneshots for Free! before I stop, like I've said in my last oneshot. Anyone excited for my first attempt to write a lemon? Haha, oh gaaawd. I'll try my best.

If you don't know who Natsuki Shinomiya is, I'm sorry, but he's pretty important to this oneshot, since I've been inspired to write with him in mind. He's from Uta no Prince-Sama, the anime I've been obsessed to lately! (I just finished the first season, YAS). I recommend it. But, anyway, if you don't know this character, I'll give you a small description so you can have a glimpse of what he's like (taken from the wiki):

He has an extreme fondness for cute and small things. He likes cooking, though his food is usually disastrous and inedible. He has a split personality and suffers from "Gemini syndrome": when he takes his glasses off, his personality changes to a very violent person named Satsuki, but when his glasses are back on, he reverts back to Natsuki with no memory of what happened. Satsuki is aggressive and rude, but is more talented than Natsuki when it concerns to music. He plays the viola, though he used to play the violin.

And, there you go. I hope you guys enjoy this one! This is my bae (also Sousuke), so I hope I did the precious sunshine some justice!

~Makoto's POV~

"Don't worry too much about it, Mako-chan! I'm sure (F/n)-chan had a really good reason as to why she couldn't join us today," Nagisa tried to comfort me from my slight disappointment.

"Yeah, Makoto-senpai. (F/n) would be here with us if she could," Rei added in.

I bared my two kouhais an appreciative grin. Despite all of my friends' encouraging words that I shouldn't be too sad over the (h/c) haired girl, my mind was hopelessly filled with her and only her. I wish I could push it aside and move on so the boys and I could have fun at the Samezuka Academy festival but... my heart ached for her presence.

Everyone mentioned to me how obvious of a crush I had on (L/n) (F/n). But I couldn't help it, I was smitten with her the moment we were both first years in Iwatobi High. All it took was one glance at her and I was done for. She was so cute! (F/n) had these dazzling, (e/c) orbs that I loved to gaze into whenever we talked to each other. Her (h/l), (h/c) locks framed her face perfectly. Her smile could light up a cloudy day in mere seconds! She was also sweet, friendly, considerate, caring, the list will just go on and on. She has told me before about her flaws but, honestly, she was still perfect in my eyes.

Plus, as a last resort, I was finally going to ask her out today after three years of knowing her.

"Here, Mako-chan, have this!" I don't know when the blond gotten it, but he held up the cotton candy to my face. I gratefully take the sweet treat into my hand and take a small nibble into it, letting the sugary taste melt in my mouth. "It's good, right?"

I gave him a nod before taking another small bite. "Thank you, Nagisa-kun."

"Whoa, that sounds so cute! We need to go to that!~" I heard a loud voice chime in delight somewhere in the distance. Out of habit, I turned my head towards the owner of the voice. Near the entrance of the building, I see a tall, bespectacled guy with blond tufts of hair. He looked to be talking to someone significantly smaller than him, a girl I think. He had an arm wrapped securely around her shoulders, leading her through the doors.

I stared at the girl the blond guy was with, as she now looked very familiar. "Hai, hai Natsu-chan. Let's go," she told him with a soft smile on her face.

I instantly felt my heart strain in my chest when I realized why she looked so familiar. "(F/n)?" I murmured out just as the two of them entered the school. As I was about to follow after them to see if my suspicions were right, someone in a maid's outfit bumped into Haru and fell backwards, catching all of our attentions.

No, right? That can't be her. That can't possibly be her with another guy, right? But judging by the unpleasant feeling sitting in my gut, I can't believe that.

~(F/n)'s POV~

"Hello, welcome to the Maid Café of Hell. Here are your menus," the magenta haired male clad in a butler suit greeted us while handing over their menus. "Please enjoy your-ACK, what?!"

"Natsu-chan! You can't just take pictures of people you don't know!" I nagged my blond friend with a frown when he took a flash photo. I snatched away his phone from him and lightly smacked his hand, causing a small whine to leave his lips. "Sorry, Rin-san, but he really loves cute things. He's going to be tempted to take pictures of every single person in here."

The Samezuka swim captain let out a sigh over my comment and glanced at my friend. "Well, don't cause too much trouble, I guess, or I will kick both of you out."

I gripped on Natsuki's arm and lead him away to an unoccupied table. "(F/n)-chan, can I have my phone back? You heard him! He allowed me to take some pictures," the blond singer chirped, holding out his hand towards me. Reluctantly, I handed him his phone. But before I knew it, he took a quick picture of me instead of all the maid clothed swimmers that were strolling about in the room. "Sorry, I couldn't help it! You look so cute, (F/n)-chan~. That is just one picture to make up for the time we have spent separated."

This, here, is my good friend, Shinomiya Natsuki. I've known him since we were both little kids and we first met just because he had deemed me adorable. At first, being the stubborn child that I was, I didn't like him. I found him annoying as he tried to chase after me to force me into cute clothing or do something cute for him. But, I've grown used to him as he grown to see me other as just some cute person. We became the best of friends and nearly did everything together when we were younger. I've supported him on his musical dreams as he supported my own dreams. We had a healthy friendship.

What caused us to drift apart was when he decided to apply to Saotome Academy. I couldn't tell him he shouldn't just because I would miss him. This was just a small stepping stone towards his dream and what kind of friend would I be if I prevented that? And so, when he went to that school to fulfill his dream of being an idol (in which he's very close to being) I attended Iwatobi High just so I could visit my father more, seeing that my parents were separated.

But, things turned out pretty well so far for me since coming to Iwatobi.

"Hello, do you two know what you would like today?" Kazuki quipped as he reached our table, also in the frilly maid's outfit. He looked surprisingly good with his long, brunette locks.

"Kawaii," both Natsuki and I murmured as we gazed up at him with a sparkle to our eyes. The poor Samezuka swimmer's muscles stiffened at our slightly creepy, simultaneous comment. I snapped out of it and coughed awkwardly to get Natsuki's attention. He blinked and told him with a grin, "Oh, gomen. We would like your special sundae with a glass of water and a (f/d) for (F/n)-chan."

Kazuki quickly wrote our order into his notepad with an obvious blush to his cheeks. He then bowed to us. "I-It'll be out shortly, sir... (F/n)-san." He turned his heel and hurried away to the back of the room in which I could only guess that's where they prepare all the food and drinks.

"Wow, are you popular with the boys here? I think our maid likes you," Natsuki commented with a teasing grin on his face.

The blood rushed to my cheeks at his accusation and I waved my hands at him dismissively. "Eh? No way, I'm just well acquainted with everyone here because my friends in the swim team knows this swim team," I tried to explain to him.

Once again, he took a picture of me without much of a warning. "I really miss your cute expressions, (F/n)-chan!"

"Natsu-chan, c'mon," I puffed with a pout and my arms crossed over my chest. Click. "Stop it!"

"I can't help it," he beamed at me. Finally, he set his phone down onto the table and gazed intently at me through his glasses. "But, by the way, guys having a crush on you shouldn't matter because you like someone, don't you?" I didn't think it was possible to become redder after the blond's prior comment, but he managed to succeed as my face burned even more at the thought of my crush. "What's his name again? Tachibana Makoto?-"

"Oi!" I burst out at him, putting my index finger on my lips. "Shush you! I don't want people to overhear."

"Gomen," he chuckled, not at all serious with his apology. I furrowed my eyebrows as I scanned the area for any eavesdroppers. It looks like everyone is minding their own business, much to my relief. Natsuki leaned in closer to me, his elbows on the table and his chin propped up in his hands. "But, please tell me more about this Mako-chan! You really like him, right?" he asked in a whisper.

I leaned in as well so we could share a private conversation. "Well, yeah. I'm crazy for him but I have no idea how he feels about me," I sighed solemnly. The Iwatobi swim captain instantly filled my mind, making me unconsciously smile. "He's so amazing, Natsu-chan. I feel like he's way out of my league. He's also very friendly with everyone, so I could never tell if he actually does act differently around me or not."

"Does anyone else know of your crush on him besides me?"

"Just a couple of my friends in class," I mumbled out. "I was close to telling Gou, who's the manager of the swim team, about it but I'm afraid she might accidentally blab it out during practice." I rested my cheek into the palm of my hand. "The year is almost done and there's no more time left. Should I even try anymore?"

The gasp that left his lips gave me a start, causing me to gasp myself. He clasped his hands over mine, basically engulfing my hands. "Of course you should keep trying!" Natsuki held determination in his emerald orbs, orbs that scarily reminded me of my crush's. "If you have liked this guy for three years, there's obviously something special about him. Actually, you know what. If you have liked this guy for that long, then you must be in love with him."

... I don't doubt that actually.

"You have to tell him you like him-No! Actually, you have to tell him you love him."

"I don't think I have the courage to do that, Natsu-chan," I muttered, burying my face into my hands. "I-I know that I should, but, c'mon!"

"Hey, look at me." My hands were pried off and Natsuki's warm hands replaced them, cupping my face so to look at him directly. "I've known you for like ten years now, you are a wonderful and talented person. If he doesn't return the same feelings, then he's insane. He'd be an idiot to reject you, ok?"

I was about to murmur out my thanks until I heard a high-pitched voice call out my name, churning my insides uncomfortably. Natsuki and I turned our focus to the side, where I could see Nagisa, Rei, Haru, and Makoto being lead over to the table right next to ours by Momotarou and Aiichirou. All their expressions, except for the Samezuka maids who bared delight on their faces, were unreadable despite the smiles they gave us. I quickly back away from Natsuki's hands and sat back properly in my chair as I gawked at the Iwatobi boys. What's horrible was that, for once in my life, I didn't know exactly what Makoto was thinking. "(F/n)-chan! What a pleasant surprise!" Nagisa greeted me in an overly chipper tone, causing me to literally wince.

"H-Hi, guys," I replied back, trying my best to calm myself. Oh no, did they think I ditched them?

I glanced at Natsuki for help in the situation. "Hi! I'm Shinomiya Natsuki, (F/n)-chan's really good friend! Would you guys like to join us?" he offered. "We can scoot that table over so we can all sit together."

I stiffened at his words. Before I could decline that it was ok if they didn't join us, Haru, to my definite surprise, answered, "Yes. Thank you." And so, with Aii and Momo's help, we extended our table. Nagisa and Rei sat on the same side as Natsuki and Haru and Makoto sat on mine, me being right next to my crush. Aii got the boys' orders and him and Momo stalked off.

More than usual, I was inwardly freaking out. The reason why I couldn't hang out with the guys was because I promised I'd give my time to Natsuki. I didn't want the blond bara go through the discomfort of being surrounded by people he doesn't know. But, now that he had personally invited them, what could I do??

"So, (F/n), what are you two doing here?" Haru asked me in a cold tone, which further shocked me. I knew Haru to be someone that wouldn't usual show his emotions but he seemed spiteful with his question. I tensed even more that I had my hands balled up in my lap.

"I-I, uh, we wanted to go somewhere fun to hang out and when I suggested the festival, Natsuki insisted we go," I answered him nervously. What's with the cold stare, Haru? You never treated me this coldly! "L-Look, I know this seems bad but I promise that I didn't ditch you guys on purpose. I rarely see Natsuki and I wanted to hang out together, just the two of us."

"There was an exhibit in town about aquatic animals!" Nagisa piped up. The blond shota turned towards Rei. "I'm sure (F/n)-chan and her friend would've liked it, right Rei-chan?"

I instantly felt a pang in my heart. He said it in a way like he didn't want me to be here at the festival. I tried my best to not show how hurt I was. Maybe, he didn't mean it in that way, but still...

Fortunately, Kazuki came back with Natsuki and my order. The brunet set down our drinks and our colorful, delicious looking sundae between us with one spoon. "Umm, excuse me, can we have another spoon?" I asked when realizing it.

"Ne, (F/n)-chan, it's ok. We can just share one spoon like we always did before," Natsuki chimed with an innocent smile. We sent Kazuki off without any other questions. "Here, you can have the first bite!" He scooped a small portion in the spoon and held it out to me. Now that I had Makoto sitting next to me, I was more than mortified to have my best friend feed me. "(F/n)-chan, say ahh!" I felt the tension hang in the air around us as I hesitantly opened my mouth so he could feed me the cold treat. "Is it good?"

I hung my head low in embarrassment and murmured out after gulping down the sweetness, "I-It's good."

Natsuki somehow ended up just conversing with the boys about school, interests, and such things. I don't know, I knew my childhood friend was talking to them out of his kindness but I feel like that the Iwatobi boys were talking back because of something else. None of it sat well in my stomach. And, in spite of this, Makoto was the quietest out of the four of them, which served to be surprising itself, since the gentle boy was always the one starting conversations.

I sat there, listening, quiet myself while Natsuki occasionally fed me the sundae. I never felt so uncomfortable in my life. Even when Rin and Sousuke joined us, who didn't know anything of the tension building, it didn't ease my racing heart and my twisting guts. I'm just glad they haven't noticed.

Once we all finished our drinks and treats, it was time for us to leave the maid café. "Say, Natsuki, (F/n), why don't you join us?" Rin suggested once him and the other Samezuka boys changed into their school uniform. "A friend of (F/n) is a friend of ours, right?" Rin, bless your soul. And just to think you were a douchebag last year...

"If you guys don't mind!" Natsuki replied happily.

And now, I was stuck walking around Samezuka with seven guys. I trailed behind the lot, because there wasn't any conversation of either boy that I would want to jump into. Natsuki was currently occupied with Nagisa and Rei, who now looked to be more open with him, thank god.

"(F/n)-chan..." The unexpected voice startled me, and I flinched. "Oh, gomen (F/n)-chan, I didn't mean to frighten you."

I glanced up at my long time crush, a blush tinting my cheeks. Oh man, I haven't felt this nervous around him since our first year. "No, y-you're fine. Is there something you want to ask me, Mako-chan?"

"Well, I'm sure this isn't how you expecting things to happen with your, mmm, friend."

"It wasn't," I muttered out. My (e/c) eyes strayed over to the backs of the other Iwatobi boys. "Are they mad at me or something? Do they think I ditched them to hang out with Natsuki?"

I noticed his mesmerizing, emerald eyes widening at my question but he answered surely, "No, of course not. They're not mad at you."

"I don't know. That's just the kind of vibe I'm getting from them," I admitted, my gaze casted down on the tiled floors. "We came to the festival on the last minute. I let Natsuki decide where he wanted to go and he wanted to come here. I barely see him nowadays since he's been busy, that's why I had canceled on the last minute. I wanted to come here with you."

"Hmm?" Makoto hummed with a raised eyebrow.

I froze when I realized what I said. "You know, with all of you," I corrected myself in a fluster.

"Oh. Well, we might as well all hang out now, right?"

I smiled. "Yeah."

Click!

"Eh?" Makoto and I squeaked at the sudden flash. I instantly glared at the only person who would be taking pictures of me. "Natsuki!"

"Dang, I thought I turned off the flash on this," the tall blond mumbled as he looked down on the screen. He then turned his phone around so Makoto and I could see the picture of the two of us smiling at each other. "But, look! So kawaii~"

Nagisa leaned over to look at the picture and beamed. "You're right! It's so kawaii!" he burst out just like his fellow blond. I sweatdropped at the sight of the two blonds bonding over a cute photo... of me and Makoto. "Wha! Guys, look!" Nagisa burst out in front of us, stopping at a table at the end of the hallway. All of us followed after and realized it was a water gun game.

And thus, we ended up participating in the game.

Blue team ended up being me, Haru, Sousuke, and Nagisa; and the red team had Natsuki, Rei, Rin, and Makoto.

~*~

How did I manage to be in this situation?

In a matter of twenty minutes into the game, I was separated from my teammates. I had no idea who was already out of the game or who were still in but my heart was racing from the thought of someone sneaking up on me right now. I kept my pace down the pathway on guard, my water gun firm in my grip and my head held high.

Suddenly, down the pathway I see something glinting from the sunlight, blinding my eyes. I zoomed over to the object and squatted down to get a better look. "Glasses?" I murmured as I picked them up. I gazed at the glasses, growing more and more uneasy the longer I stared at it. "I know whose this is... Oh no-EEP!" A strong arm wrapped around my shoulders and clasped my mouth in its hand. My water gun was then knocked out of my hand, leaving me defenseless.

"You don't have to fight anymore, darling. Just wait."

I trembled at the voice, it has been way too long since I last heard it. Satsuki had come out. "N-Natsu-MMM." The hand tightened around my lips and then I felt something press against my head. I glanced back at the glasses that was still on the ground, there was no way I could get to it from here.

I heard footsteps, someone was running over to where we were. "Natsuki!" From behind the pillar, Makoto appeared. His eyes widened when he spotted me. "What are you doing, Natsuki?!"

"My name is Satsuki," my childhood friend murmured out, causing chills to run down my spine at the pure roughness in his voice. "Don't think I didn't notice how jealous you were, Makoto-san. You didn't like how I fed her that sundae, right?"

For a moment, I saw Makoto's lips flicker down. "Can you please let her go?"

"We're playing to win, aren't we?" The nozzle of the gun pressed more into my cheek. "She's on the blue team, we're on the red team."

"Come on, Natsuki. Don't be like that," Makoto muttered, taking a step forward.

"It's Satsuki!" Natsuki scoffed angrily. "Just admit it, Makoto-san. You were jealous of me!~ You don't like how I get to hold her like this." While keeping my arms down, the blond held me close from around my waist. I was speechless, what on earth could be going on in both of their heads right now?

A dark aura overcame Makoto as he held up his gun towards the two of us. "Mako-chan," I murmured out in bewilderment.

"Ne, are you willing to spray your teammate?" Natsuki responded with a devilish tone in his voice. "And the girl you care so much about?"

With a sigh, Makoto replied, "Gomenesai, (F/n)-chan."

Instantly, I was splashed with water along with Natsuki. I took this time while he was still in a state of shock to hurry over to his glasses. I picked it up and tackled it back onto the bridge of his nose. He blinked out of his trance as he glanced down at me. "Oh, (F/n)-chan, you're soaked!" He then looked at himself. "Heh? I'm soaked too! How did this happen?"

Thank god, he's back to his usual self. Satsuki is so scary...

"Oh, um, I shot you and Makoto shot me. So, now we're both out of the game," I lied, shooting Makoto a look so he knows to go along with it. The olive haired boy nodded along with my words. Natsuki pouted as he took all this information in. "Ne, Natsu-chan, we better go back to base and return the guns." Before I could leave with Natsuki, Makoto grabbed onto the crook of my elbow. "Mako-chan?"

"Gomen, but can I talk to you for a second?" he asked, for some reason not looking at me. "Natsuki?"

"Eh? Of course, I'll go ahead."

Once he was gone, Makoto took off his jacket and wrapped it around my shoulders. "Here, so you won't be cold, (F/n)-chan." I blushed as I felt the warmth of the school blazer engulfing me. I glanced at my drenched outfit and could see why he wasn't looking at me. He was looking away from me out of courtesy. "He was right, you know? I was jealous of him."

"Y-You were?"

"Hai... You see, (F/n)-chan, I've had a crush on you since our first year together and... he was right on how I didn't like you two together. I saw you before the maid café with him and I'll admit that it made me sad."

I gawked at the gentle giant.

He's confessing to me... To me right now.

"Actually, today, I wanted to... finally ask you out..."

"Seriously?" I gaped, an uncontainable smile on my face. But since he wasn't looking at me, he must've not caught onto my joy.

"Yeah. I know we've been friends for three years and this must be odd to hear from me. And, seeing you with Natsuki..." his words trailed off.

"Me and Natsuki are just good friends, Mako-chan," I reassured him. I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around his torso. I could feel his muscles tensing up to my touch. "But, can you please ask me that question right now?"

His emerald eyes met my (e/c) orbs in a gentle gaze. "Q-Question?"

"Please tell me what you've planned to tell me, Mako-chan!"

Slowly wrapping his arms around my smaller body, he relaxed. "(F/n)-chan, I've been in love with you after all these years. And, I was wondering if you could give me the honor of going out on a date with me... and being my girlfriend?"

I melted instantly in his arms, his voice as sweet as ever. A giggle left my lips as I nuzzled my face into his chest. "Have you been practicing to tell me all that for a while?" I asked him in a joking manner.

"... I wanted to ask you out ever since I first met you. But, can I please have an answer, (F/n)-chan? Because I think I'm about to faint from anxiety..."

I gave him a squeeze. "I would love to go out on a date with you and be your girlfriend, Mako-chan! I've been in love with you too."

"Yatta!" Still in his arms, he picked me up into the air and twirled me around. I laughed as I held him tightly in the embrace. This was the day I have been waiting for since meeting Makoto Tachibana. I'm so happy that I get to-"ACK!"

Along with my arms that were crossed along his back, I felt the familiar, chilling spray of water. "Sorry, Mako-chan! But congratulations, you two!" Nagisa called out from afar. He chuckled to himself before running away before anyone else could sneak up on him.

"I guess you're out of the game too," I giggled as I pulled away from Makoto.

"It's ok. I already feel like I've won now that I'm with you."

Bonus:

~Makoto's POV~

Hand in hand, (F/n) and I had returned our gun at the booth that ran the survival game. There (F/n)'s friend, Natsuki, was waiting for us, a bright expression appearing on his face when he saw us. "Oh! Are you two finally together?" he cheered. What I didn't expect was to engulf us in hugs. Once pulling away, he already had his phone ready in hand. "Kawaii! This calls for a picture, yeah?"

(F/n) gave him an adorable pout. "I'll accept it this time because I'm extremely happy," she murmured. She looked up at me. "Is that ok, Mako-chan?"

"Yeah, that's fine."

"Yay!" My new girlfriend and I grinned at the phone so Natsuki could take our picture. Once taking it, he gazed at it for a good time, absolutely overjoyed by it. I guess he really did want us to be together. Now, I kind of feel bad for doubting him... Besides, he's just like a taller Nagisa. I'm so happy for you, (F/n)-chan, you get to be with the one you liked for so long."

"Arigato, Natsu-chan. But, hey, how are things with your composer? Nanami-san?" (F/n) asked him.

When a blush tinted his cheeks, it was obvious how he felt for this Nanami. "It's quite complicated."

"Wait... you said, composer?" I questioned out of curiosity.

"Hai. Natsuki is in a music group called STARISH," (F/n) answered. "They just started out but they've been gaining a lot of popularity since then!"

"Oh! Wow, that's impressive," I gaped.

The blond looked sheepish at my comment. "Thanks, Makoto-san, I appreciate the compliment. I've always respected you since the first time (F/n)-chan told me about you. I care a lot about her and I would want her to be with someone that is right for her. After hearing so much about you, I knew you were perfect for her!"

"Oi, Natsu-chan, you didn't have to tell him that," (F/n) grumbled out, her cheeks now red. "Let's go back outside to see who's left in the game, ok?" She tugged onto Natsuki's sleeve, pulling him along.

Although everything seemed okay now, a question had been brewing in my mind. I leaned down and whispered into (F/n)'s ear. "So, what happened earlier? He had called himself Satsuki before and seemed very positive that was his name."

"Whenever his glasses comes off, he becomes a new whole person. Gemini Syndrome, I believe it's called. But whenever the glasses come back on, he forgets everything that has happened when he's Satsuki. We're safe as long as he keeps those glasses on," she replied. "Think of it this way, Natsuki's Satsuki is just like Nagisa's Thugisa."

"Oh, that's quite scary."

"I've gotten used to it."

"Eh? What are you two lovebirds talking about?" Natsuki piped up, an innocent look to his expression.

"Nothing at all, Natsu-chan!" (F/n) told him. "We better hurry or the game will be done." She linked her arms with both mine and Natsuki's arms. "C'mon, most important guys in my life, let's go!" I managed to exchange glances with the blond and he bared a soft smile.

There, I knew, I was definitely wrong for doubting the guy.
