012 how to get the girl.

 ( chapter twelve )
HOW TO GET THE GIRL.

Charlie laughed out as Moon almost jumped her with blush, trying to hold the girl down as she wiggled under her. Moon had told Charlie she was helping to get her ready for her date, somehow seeming more excited than Charlie was. She'd never gotten to there for Charlie like this before, so Moon just wanted to make it special.

"I know how to put makeup on!" Charlie laughed, dodging the blush as Moon accidentally put it on her own arm. "Let me have this moment!" Moon laughed, continuing to try and get the blush on the girls cheeks before finally succeeding. "This feels inefficient!" Charlie laughed again.

"It would work better if you... stopped... squirming." Moon replied, grabbing a mascara wand and looking toward Charlie. "Oh, hell no." Charlie gasped, completely breaking free from the girls grasp. "You can help with other stuff but the eyes are mine."

"Fine, fine." Moon smirked, watching as her friend took a seat. "Are you excited?" Moon wondered, sitting beside her. "Yeah, I am." Charlie smiled, facing herself in the mirror. "I'm honestly a bit nervous. What if this changes everything too much and it makes things weird between him and Miguel? Or we don't know how to talk to each other and it just gets super awkward?" Charlie worried.

Moon sighed, wrapping her arms around her friend from being. "Then we'll figure it out. But the good news is that won't happen. I mean, look how close we are." Charlie smiled toward her friend, hugging her back the best she could. "Thanks."

"Of course, now... let's get you ready for this date." Moon smiled, moving to go through Charlie's closet while the girl worked on her makeup.

When Charlie had completed her makeup look she turned to the bed, looking at the options Moon had laid out. "These feel fancy." Charlie spoke. Hawk was adamant that the girl was surprised by where they were going, but with that he forgot to tell her if she needed to dress fancy or not.

"Just text and ask." Moon shrugged. Charlie nodded, pulling her phone out and quickly texting the boy. Hey. Are we going for casual or fancy tonight?

The phone immediately dinged in response, Charlie reading it over. Nowhere fancy. It'll be somewhere fun :)

Charlie smiled, looking at the options again. She had things from jeans and a t-shirt to restaurant level fancy. She wanted to look cute but keep it semi casual, so she figured the red mini dress Moon had laid out would be perfect with her white converse. "This one."

"I'm so excited for you." Moon jumped, almost spinning around. "You're adorable. Thank you." Charlie laughed, quickly changing before sitting back down and letting Moon put light curls in her hair.

When Hawk texted he was there Charlie felt her stomach drop, taking in a quick deep breath. "You're gonna be fine. You're hot and he knows it." Moon spoke, looking toward the girl seriously. "Just have fun, okay?"

Charlie nodded, smiling. "Thanks for the help. I think I'd be in a ball or something on my bed if you weren't here." Moon smiled. "I know."

The two headed out of Charlie's bedroom, going down the hall and being met by Ana. "Oh, you look gorgeous my love." She smiled, pulling her girl close. "Thanks, mama." Charlie replied, hugging back.

"You have fun, okay?" Ana spoke, looking over her daughter again. "Of course." Charlie laughed. "So is this boy going to come to the door? Or is texting to get picked the newest romantic way to do it?" Ana wondered, half joking half actually asking.

Charlie went to respond, suddenly hearing a knock at the door. She smiled, walking backward toward it. "Seems knockings still in."

Charlie opened the door, immediately seeing Hawk standing on the other side looking at his feet before meeting her gaze with a smile. "Hey. You look beautiful." The boy spoke, handing the girl a white tulip. Charlie smiled, spinning the flower around in her hand. "How'd you know these were my favorites?"

"I may have asked Miguel." Hawk admitted, smile only growing when he saw the look in her eyes. "I'll put that in a vase. You two have fun." Ana spoke, kissing her daughter on the head before almost pushing her out of the house.

Charlie felt Hawk grab her hand, intertwining their fingers. "You ready?" Charlie nodded, smile stuck on her face. "Definitely."

With that Hawk pulled the girl away from her house, opening the car door for her before shutting it and swiftly moving to the drivers side. "Are you gonna tell me where we're going?" Charlie wondered, facing the boy as he began to drive.

"That would ruin the surprise." Hawk replied, taking her hand in his as he used just one to drive. "I think the anticipation might actually kill me." Charlie replied, just wanting to know. "Like curiosity will actually kill the cat."

Hawk laughed a bit, shaking his head. "Okay, fine. We're going to play your favorite game."

———————

When Hawk said they were going to play the girls favorite game, she did not expect to end up at an indoor soccer field. Charlie looked around, sending the boy a confused look. Usually when she went on first dates they went out to dinner or to see a movie, not play soccer.

She wasn't complaining, but she was confused.

"I figured that we could have a picnic and then I can finally see these skills everyone keeps telling me you have." Hawk smiled, arms wrapping around Charlie's waist. "You know, usually if someone wants to see me play soccer they come to a game." Charlie smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Hawk shrugged. "Schools out. This is the next best thing. Now, come on." He grabbed her hand, pulling the girl behind him to a blanket setup that was already waiting for them with a picnic basket to go with it.

Charlie smiled, taking a seat across from the boy as he pulled out everything that was inside. He'd really thought about this and was trying to make it special for her and Charlie couldn't think of anyone who'd put more care into something like this before.

"Okay, so... we have fruits, mini cookies, lemonade, and chocolates. Miguel said these were your favorites." Hawk explained, pulling everything out. Charlie just looked at the boy, smiling lightly. "What?" He wondered, smiling lightly as their eyes connected.

Charlie just leaned forward, connecting their lips. "Thank you. This is already the best date I've ever been on." Hawk smiled. "Good. Hopefully it'll stay that way."

With that the two dug in, the vibe of the giant indoor soccer center somehow not feeling creepy as the two sat together. "Okay, so how much of this did you have to ask Miguel about?" Charlie wondered, smiling lightly. She thought it was adorable he wanted to check and see what she enjoyed, even if she was going to give him a little trouble because of it

"I just asked about some of your favorite things and double checked with him about other stuff. He does not get credit for this." Hawk replied, smiling toward the girl. "Of course not." Charlie replied, connecting their lips for a moment again.

Hawk sighed, putting his food down and looking at the girl. "Char, I like you a lot and— and I want to be able to do this again." Charlie looked toward the boy, smiling. "Yeah, me too."

"Would you be my girlfriend?" He spoke, just throwing it out there. Charlie just felt her smile grow, nodding. "Yeah, I will."

Hawk smiled, almost tackling the girl down in a hug. Charlie let out a laugh, wrapping her arms around the boy as the two fell sideways on the blanket. "I think people should pay you to plan dates for them. You'd make a lot of money." Charlie spoke, staring at the boy.

"Not sure that's my calling." Hawk chuckled, staring right back at the girl. Charlie just found herself looking at the boy, not even knowing what else to say. No one had ever made her feel this special before and she didn't fully know how to handle it.

She hadn't dated many people before, but enough to know what worked for her and what didn't. And enough to know herself, knowing that when stuff was really good anything else would hit her far harder. She was scared, but by the way Hawk looked at her Charlie just felt like at least, for now, everything would be okay.

"I think it's time for a little 1v1." Hawk smiled, jumping up before pulling the girl up as well. "You're gonna get your ass kicked." Charlie laughed, pulling her dress down slightly. She was just happy she'd worn tennis shoes.

"I guess we'll see how good you really are, Moreno." Hawk smirked, running to the side and kicking a ball, beginning to juggle it and try to show off. Charlie just laughed, moving away from the basket and blanket as the boy then decided to kick the ball her way.

She stopped it with her foot, juggling it a bit herself before catching it and looking at the boy. "What exactly do you want to do?" He smiled, jokingly blocking the goal. "Try and get past me."

"Whatever you say." Charlie laughed, putting the ball down again and kicking it from where she was, making it into the goal as the boy dived to stop it and missed. She laughed, jokingly curtsying for the performance. "Are you waiting for me to clap?" Hawk wondered, smiling right back at her.

"I can sign something for you if you want. Let you leave here with something to always remind you of what I bad idea this was." Charlie joked, biting down on her lip as she smiled. "Okay, now it's on." Hawk laughed, beginning to dribble the ball as he decided he'd try and run past the girl to score.

Charlie narrowed her gaze at the boy, competitive nature taking over as she ran toward him, going to steal the ball. Hawk swiftly moved around her, spinning over himself as he kept the ball away. She just smiled, excitedly running back toward him again when he was focused on showmanship and stealing the ball.

Charlie then ran the opposite way, dribbling the ball as she ran. She quickly kicked it toward the goal once a good distance to shoot, turning around and throwing her hands in the air after making it. "Whoo!"

Hawk ran past the girl, grabbing the ball and throwing it back to her again. "Okay, you've proved you have skills. But let's see your defense." The boy smirked, running toward her.

Charlie laughed, spinning past him running with the ball toward the goal again.

Suddenly Charlie felt her feet lift off the ground, yelling out as she was suddenly over the boys shoulder as he ran around. "This is breaking so many rules in the game!" Charlie laughed, holding on for dear life. "I don't see a ref!" Hawk replied, suddenly spinning the girl onto his back.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, head falling into the crook of his neck as her legs wrapped around him and the boy continued to run around.

"You're such a sore loser!" Charlie laughed, holding tighter as the boy decided to jump around as well. "You can't lose if the opponent can't score." Hawk replied, running the both of them back to the blanket before setting the girl down and then pulling her down next to him.

"I scored twice before you started playing dirty, by the way." Charlie smirked. "I actually don't remember that. That's so weird, maybe you were hallucinating and you—" Hawk went to speak, only stopping when his lips were suddenly pressed against hers.

He immediately kissed back, moving to hover over the girl as one of his arms curled around her back. Charlie felt her body arch up, only pulling the boy closer with a smile.

When they finally broke apart Hawk moved off the girl, lying down beside her and facing up. Charlie did the same, lying beside the boy as she took in deep breathes.

She'd had an amazing date and now had a boyfriend to go with it. There wasn't much that could top a night like this.
