The Reveal

Hmm...I think I will be extra evil this chapter, my lovely readers. Warning: Someone dies prematurely.

Point of View: Third Person

Four Days Later

'Artemis keeps looking at me with more of that sparkle in her eyes. It's mirth and love and kindred. And it's aimed at everyone, even me. Well, not Jason. Those three are staying with us until I give them information for their quest.' Moonlace is in a higher tree than before, where everyone can see him. Perched right at the top, staring out at the expanse of sky. 'Why would Artemis fall in love? Especially with me. What could she possibly see? I'm a ruthless predator and sure, I am a gentleman with the girls, but other than that, there's nothing. What does she see in me? It can't possibly be good. Whatever it is.' Moonlace sighs.

"Moonlace!" Artemis calls up. "Lunch! Come down from there!"

'I'm not good for you, for anybody. I've been away from life for too long.' Moonlace glances down at her only to find she's hopping up the branches toward him.

She reaches the branch below the very top of the tree and frowns. "Why won't you come and eat?" Artemis asks.

"I'm not hungry." Moonlace replies without looking.

"You haven't ate in two days." She scowls.

"And I don't need to eat for two more." Moonlace tells her.

"Well too bad. You are eating." Artemis informs him.

"Thank you, my lady, but I am fine." Moonlace says.

Artemis grabs his hand and pulls him down into the branch beside her. 'He's got that intelligent look in his eyes again. His eyes sometimes show under his hood. They are a bit darker than I imagined a green eyed person could be. He knows.' She thinks and then smiles.

Moonlace doesn't change his expression to smile back this time and lets her pull him clear down the tree and onto the ground. After he eats in silence though, he walks out of the camp.

Artemis follows him with her eyes and then sits in her tent thinking. When the moon, the full moon, is out, she makes her decision, knowing he isn't back yet. She leaves her tent and goes after him. She finds him standing in the middle of another clearing.

"I was coming back. You didn't have to worry." Moonlace says without turning around.

Artemis comes up to him. "Well then let's go." She grabs onto his hand and he follows after her.

When they reach the camp and they get halfway to the campfire, he stops. Everybody else at the fire watches and Artemis turns.

"Goodnight, milady." He tells her and turns to go but Artemis pulls him back.

"Moonlace, I know you know." Artemis says.

"About?" He prompts.

"That I like you." Artemis informs him. "You can trust me, Moonlace. Please."

Moonlace's brow furrows, his lips press into a line, and he tries to pull away but she won't let him and he won't hurt her. "My lady, I can't." Moonlace's head drops.

"Yes, you can. I am falling in love, Moonlace. What about you?" Artemis comes closer.

"I'm not good for you." Moonlace whispers, his voice breaking on 'good.'

"I'll be the judge of that." She tells him and she grows into his age, a nineteen year old.

"Lady Artemis, I am not the man you think I am. I do not know what you have found, but you should lose it. I am not a good person. I haven't been in a long time." Moonlace says as she steps right up against him.

"Let me change your mind and show you what I see." She whispers.

She takes her free hand and lightly grabs his face, she pulls him down to her level and kisses him. She feels the emotions he radiates in just that touch and he starts to respond. She reaches up with her other hand, taking it out of his, and pushes back his hood. And as she does, a single tear falls and trails down his face and onto her hand.

Well, that's it. See ya next chapter, my lovely readers!

Yeah,...just kidding!

She hears the sharp intakes of breath as she pushes his hood down and brings her other hand to his face. She pulls away and opens her eyes, widening at the man before her.

"I have never met Perseus Jackson...because," His voice breaks on every word, but especially on his name. "I am him."

Artemis sees the tears running down his face freely now. "Percy?" Thalia asks and they both hear it but ignore it.

"I am so sorry for lying to you, but it was how I protected myself and I have been doing it for so long. You've opened my heart again and it's unbearable, I can hardly breathe." Percy tells her, his voice screaming hurt all throughout it.

"I'm not mad." Artemis whispers.

Percy chokes and Artemis can see how painful it is for him. "You should be. I haven't been Perseus Jackson in so long, I don't remember who I even was. I lied to you. I know what I look like, I know how long it has been, I know how old I am, and I know I have been wrong to keep it all from you. But I couldn't help it. I became another person. I didn't want to be who I was anymore."

"You're beautiful as you are. You are Perseus and you are Moonlace. You can be both." Artemis tells him.

"My lady, I-" Percy starts but stops, looking away because it's too hard for him.

"Look at me." Artemis tells him.

He does as she asks and she kisses him again. He responds again and one hand lightly finds her jaw to bring her closer. The other hanging at his side with no purpose. When Artemis pulls away, his eyes search hers and he lets go of her face.

"Alright." Percy nods and she smiles warmly.
