Breaking Free
Wattpad seems to be spazzing out...Anyway, I am currently working on many updates for you guys. Not to make up for lost time, but because I want to and now that I don't have many worries, I can be free with my writing. So, here we go, my lovely readers!
Point of View: Perseus Jackson
I know her. She is doing this to me. Twisting me from the inside. But I have chosen and I am ready to face what is to come.
Misery.
I am coming for you.
I am no longer tied down by my suffering and I have put my past behind me. My future will not be clouded by her. I will not let it happen. My job is to kill you and I will not fail.
'Hero.' Her voice, sweet yet rasping, sounds around me. 'Savior. These are words they call you. Names by which you are described. Hunter, Shadow, Monster. Also names you are known. Now, were. And what are you? You who have been born from their ashes. What shall I call you? What should everyone know you by? Where will you walk? Which path will you tread?'
'And with the footfalls of the reborn, so sounds doom upon the walls of Fate.' I tell her.
'You speak as if you already know the outcome.' She hisses. 'Arrogance.'
'Loyalty prevails, knocking on the door of death.' I say.
'How dare you!' She screeches.
'Righteous love, falling glory, resounding cries. Together they rise for the last time and darkness will fall.' I continue.
'Where did you hear?!' She screams.
'So is the will of the Fates and the end is near for all.' I warn.
'You will turn.' She snarls.
'And loyalty gives birth to the children of the Earth, so dies suffering in its place.' I finish.
'I will have you yet.' She leaves and the force over my mind lifts.
I gasp as I pull myself out of my mind. I realize too late that someone was holding me and they drop me as I scare the life out of them.
"Remind me why I don't want to kill you, Apollo." I say tiredly.
"You frightened me?" He suggests.
"Yeah." I look up at the open ceiling.
"Percy?" Artemis inquires.
"Yes?" I reply.
Her face comes to cover the sky. "Are you okay?"
"I am not sure." I answer.
She frowns. "Why?"
"Misery has coursed through my veins and I am ready to kill her." I tell her, not really seeing her.
"Percy?" She whispers.
I push myself up into a sitting position and Athena strikes out to grab my wrist. "Perseus, your veins are turning black."
"Misery has coursed through my veins, tainting what I have purified. The battle inside rages while the battle outside has yet to come. Misery will die, suffering shall go with her." I echo my thoughts.
"Misery?" Athena touches the veins on my neck. "Perseus, you must rest."
"Misery never rests, neither will I. She is about and I will not rest until she is stopped." I inform Athena, now I look right into her eyes. I delve so deep into her soul, she cannot look away.
"She has never been so powerful to undermine even a god or goddess of her own caliber." Athena tells me.
I place my hand on the side of her face, allowing knowledge of my own to flow into her. I let my hand drop as I speak, "Misery never rests." I repeat, putting a meaningful expression on my face. "Misery is more powerful than knowledge and healing and light because everyone suffers everyday, no matter how happy they are. Over time, so much suffering has come to pass. War, famine, plague, death, even guilt is a form of suffering. Misery hates death the most and death is what I will find, even if it is the main source of her power. She has always thrived and now she is out of the Pit. She has always been more powerful than any one of you, but she suffers herself. Now that she is full of hatred, she will try to kill you. She is wrapped in gray...she weeps for every soul."
"Perseus, there is also good in the world." Artemis reminds me.
"I know." I breathe. "But she cannot see it and all she wants is more suffering. So that is what I will give her, until she can no longer take it. Then I will take my chance to kill her."
"You aren't going to..." Apollo pales.
"Do not be so drastic, Apollo." I say wearily. "I will not kill many people or cause strife on purpose. I will go find them and then I will force her to come out and face me."
"Them?" Hera chirps.
"The embodiments of suffering, I will bring them together and make Misery face her worst fears. Together, we will win. Without them, there is no hope." I elucidate.
I hope you guys enjoy this, my lovely readers!
