Chapter Seven

Hye woke up in the morning, entire body aching including her shoulders. Her eyes widened in realisation and she sat up and her hands immediately went and reached for her shoulders just to find slightly lumped skin there instead of the open wounds she was expecting.

"I guess this is what he meant by paths getting crossed." She mumbled quietly, her whole body in pain. She looked down and saw that she was only in her woolen under clothes and realised that explained the chills running down her spine. She got up and noticed that there were seven boys littered all around the now dead campfire. She stepped over them to where her clothes were hanging from a low hanging branch and she pulled them onto her body. She stretched out in them and sank down at the bottom of the tree watching the seven boys sleep on the first floor.

Hye played with a lose thread on her clothes whilst they slept, almost keeping watch over them as if she knew how to fight off anything or anyone that came for them.

"Good morning." The man in mostly black spoke, sitting beside her and she jumped, she hadn't realised he had woken up never mind came and sat beside her. "I'm glad to see you're feeling better."

"Was it the witch or you that healed me?" She asked the question straight away. There was no point in hiding her curiosity.

"Witch." He chuckled. "As much as I find you entertaining, I'm not completely capable of such things. How are you feeling anyway Hye?"

"I feel refreshed, I'm aching a little bit." She hummed. "How do you know my name?"

"The elder of my old clan foretold that there would be someone like you coming into my life." Hye furrowed her eyebrows. "There's an elder to a clan of Fae?"

"Yes- You don't believe me do you?" He laughed quietly.

"I shouldn't believe in Fae, I was told that they lie to get what they want." She raised an eyebrow at him and he smiled brightly. "But I was also told that they eat hearts out of chests and steal your firstborn. I was the firstborn and technically you haven't stolen me."

"You're smarter than you look."

"What's that meant to mean!?" Hye gasped. The man in mostly black simply smiled and rested his head against the trunk of the tree.

"I'm Hoseok. You know how it is with Fae though, no full names or the humans can control us." He turned to look at her. "Once the boys wake up I'm pretty sure that they will introduce themselves to you. You can give them your name if you want, the only one that can harm you with your full name is either the witch if he decides to hex you, or the king. If he learns of your full name he'll know your family history in a second."

"Thanks for the advice." She put her hands in-between her legs to warm them up, her fingers cold.

"Pass 'em here." Hoseok chuckled and offered his hands. Hye eyed up the man suspiciously before moving her hands and offering her hands out. Within seconds her hands were taken into the Fae's and the heat began to rise. She sighed in happiness when her fingers and her hands became warm. "I may be the 'evil' fae, but I'm not going to let you lose your fingers to the cold."

"Thanks." She spoke quietly. She was right all along, the things she had been told about the seven of them were wrong - or at least they were about Hoseok. She looked over at the rest of the boys who were beginning to stir one by one and she looked up at Hoseok who had let go of her hands and had risen to his feet.

"Let's go have some introductions." Hoseok turned and smiled at her before walking to the six boys. She smiled back in return and stood up, brushing off her pants and stretching out again before following Hoseok.
