Chapter Five

"You're doing it wrong." A voice overlapped the sound of her cutting into the boar. She jumped and turned around with the dull metal blade in her hand and held it towards the voice. There behind her stood the man that was next to her when she had awoken at the trunk of a tree a few days ago. "Hey! No need for that!" His eyes widened. He crouched beside her and took out his own blade and began working on the boar.

"Who are you?"

"You'll know soon enough according to the fae. I heard in the wind that you were struggling with this and decided to help." He hummed. She watched him work on the boar. "Can I take some with me? You won't eat it all before it goes rank." Hye nodded mindlessly, watching as his fingers dove through the flesh and that the boar was soon gutted and cut. Hye got the stick she had determined was good enough to put the meat on and stuck it through several chunks of the boar.

"What happened to you?"

"I was a prisoner." He hummed, wrapping some of the meat into a piece of fabric. "The marks you're seeing aren't uncommon on my folk."

Hye nodded and walked to the fire and squatted and put the meat on the stick over it. "Thanks for the help." When she turned her head to look at where the man once was, he was already gone. She sighed softly and rotated the meat on the stick in her calloused hands. Her leather shoes which were wet from the weather earlier were left to dry close to the fire and her pouch was next to her. She had managed to sneak into a tavern and fill her canteen with ale earlier in the day. The crackling of the fire seemed to get more intense as the fat off the meat began to drip into it.

After the meal of meat and bread she curled up beside the fire and drifted off to sleep. In her dreams she saw the seven males again, the fae, the prisoner and the others all welcoming her with open arms. Days had passed since the Fae had told her their paths would cross eventually, in that time she had to fend for herself. The silver pieces in the pouch she had found had been spent far too easily on leather shoes and on bread. She went a few days struggling to eat, the bread disappearing easily into her stomach from hunger, she had tried to pick some berries from a bush the day before last and she had been vomiting for hours afterwards, so she decided she should probably start hunting.

She was bruised all over with a few scratches. Hunting was a lot harder than she had imagined it to be, but then again all she had was a small dagger and when her father had brought game home they all had longswords and bows which would make it easier.

She woke to the earthy smell of the rain again and she sighed softly and sat up, leaves and twigs from the ground stuck in her hair and she shook them out. The fire had clearly gone out a long time ago and the day was rather bright so she assumed that it was at least nearly midday. She stood up, brushing off her pants with her hands and grabbed her pouch and put on the leather shoes before setting off again.

Hye came to a lake and sighed softly, staring at it. She heard nothing but the rain falling into the lake and the rain hitting the leaves of the tree. She doubted anyone would be this far into the woods and began to strip off, leaving her pouch and her clothes under a tree to keep dryer and she walked into the lake, desperate to get rid of the dirt that had layered itself onto her body.

She began washing herself with the lake water, tilting her head back to look up into the sky, the cold rain water hitting her face and running across her body and she rinsed the small wounds across her body before submerging herself completely and coming back up. She opened her eyes when she resurfaced and she saw a black haired boy stood there, black markings covering part of his neck. Her eyes widened and her hands immediately went to cover her breasts. He was just staring from the other side of the lake, not showing any sign of interest in the girl.

"Stop looking!" She cried out. He turned to look into the woods behind her.

"I'd grab your stuff and come further into the water if I were you." He called out to her. "You've been bleeding, the wolves will be on your scent."

"What?"

"Wolves. They're nearby. Didn't you hear them howl?" She shook her head.

"Why should I believe you?"

"Why shouldn't you?" The man retorted. She sighed softly, things had been weird enough anyway so she decided she might as well believe him. She quickly got out the lake and grabbed her stuff and as she had lent down to grab the stuff, a growl tore through the woods and shook her bones. Her eyes widened as a pair of glowing eyes emerged from the darkness of the dense woods and she was tackled to the ground, saliva from the beasts mouth dripping into her face and claws digging into her shoulders.

Hye panicked briefly, yelling out in pain and she heard the man from the other side of the lake whistle. She reached into the pouch she had just dropped with great difficulty and pulled out the small dagger.

"Taehyung why didn't you call us sooner?!" A voice broke the clearing. Hye yelled with the sheer force she then used to plunge the knife into the stomach of the wolf on top of her. The animal whimpering and retreating from her. She sat up, blood dripping from the knife down her arm and the blood coming from her shoulders dripping down both arms. She panted heavily. The wolf snarling and limping towards her. She didn't think she could move her arms enough to fend for herself again, so she braced herself for death when a whistle passed her ear and the wolf dropped to the floor, bleeding out of two wounds. An arrow lodged in it's eye.

"Now run!" The same voice from before yelled and she weakly gathered everything into her arms, not caring if blood covered it, and she ran towards the water. On the other side three men stood there, one of them being the man with the markings on his neck, the other holding a bow. She managed to climb out the other side but that's all she managed to do, her body falling limp at the feet of the three men.

"She's got a bit of fight in her hasn't she."

"You can say that again. Let's get her to Yoongi to heal her."
