study break

Confronting Leo was pushed to the back of Freddie's mind by the looming threat of deadlines. They were hurtling towards the end of semester and there was a rush to finish everything before the exam period started. Freddie was pretty good at keeping on top of his work, habits learned during his lost final year of high school treated him well at university. But he'd been a bit distracted by Leo, so when Nikki suggested an all day marathon Freddie agreed. He met Nikki outside the library, sun still down, cold almost unbearable as they waited to the doors to unlock. He was already over it before it started, by the time 2 o'clock rolled around Freddie was ready to quit.

Resting his head on the table, he heard the sound of gasps and gossip before he saw Leo. The quiet commotion roused him from his position of despair, Freddie looked up and it felt like someone had filled his cup with cool water seeing Leo striding towards him with purpose.

"What?" Nikki said turning around to see Leo. "Oh right."

"Hey," Freddie smiling.

"Hey," Leo replied.

"You guys are disgusting please tell me one of those coffees is mine?"

Leo broke eye contact with Freddie for a second to hand Nikki one of the cups.

"Skim latte right?" He asked.

Nikki took a sip and sighed dramatically, "thank sweet caffeine! Leo I don't care what anyone says about you, you're a good man."

Leo didn't answer he was already looking back at Freddie.

"Is that for me?" Freddie asked about the left over cup.

"One death by sugar," Leo said.

Freddie took a sip, "what a way to go."

Leo smiled, indulgently.

"Hey Freddie," Nikki said knocking Freddie back to reality. "Weren't you going to get that book?"

"What book?"

"That book," she said with an exaggerated wink.

It took Freddie a second but he finally understood.

"Oh yeah that book! I better go get it now."

"You better go with him Leo I'm worried he might get lost," Nikki said.

Leo rolled his eyes but followed Freddie away from their study table into the stacks of books. They wound through the shelves until the sound from the study space was muffled enough to be incomprehensible. Freddie turned his attention to Leo, stepping into his space shifting them back against the books looking him in the eyes as he moved forward moving at the last moment to pressed his lips against the pulse point on Leo's neck. Leo let out a soft sigh and Freddie smiled as he kissed up Leo's neck, along his jaw line, before finally reaching his lips.

"Freddie," Leo said sounding like both a request and a reprimand.

Freddie pulled back, "sorry. I've been thinking about that all morning."

Leo blushed, turning away and Freddie chased the embarrassment into another kiss. This kiss was deeper, a little more desperate. Freddie had to use all his strength to pull away. Leo was the one chasing this time, he set a few shot kisses against Freddie's lips before collapsing against his shoulder.

"Aren't you supposed to be studying?" He asked Freddie.

"I changed my mind I'm gonna fail and let you be my sugar daddy how's that?"

"Fine," Leo said.

Freddie pulled back to smile at Leo, "you're a bad influence."

Leo shrugged.

Freddie had to kiss him again.

"Okay okay," Freddie said stepping back from the kiss. "I have to study."

Leo nodded and they both took a moment and a breath to set themselves right before. Freddie remembered to grab a random book of the shelf to take back to Nikki. He could feel sparks of electricity jumping off Leo's hand as they walked together close but not touching.

"That was quick," Nikki said when they returned.

Freddie ignored her focused on Leo, "we've got a 20 min dinner break scheduled at 8 if you wanna join?"

"I'm out with the team," Leo said.

"Fair that sounds much better than Nikki's sandwiches."

"Oi!" Nikki interjected.

Leo ignored her.

"There's some left overs at my place," Leo said. "You've still got the key?"

"Yeah I should give that back," Freddie said.

"Keep it. Foods there if you want it," Leo said.

"Thanks," Freddie replied.

"See ya," Leo said.

"Have fun at dinner," Freddie said as Leo turned to leave.

"My sandwiches are great," Nikki pouted.

"I'm sure you believe that," Freddie said patting her on the back with sympathy.

Nikki tossed a pen at Freddie and they were reprimanded by one of the librarians forcing them back to work.
